locutus42002- Damn, I completely forgot about Kara. I would have brought her in already; I just wasn't thinking about her at all. Huh, thanks for reminding me. Yeah, I should get on that. Guess I know what is going to happen in this chapter.

Chapter 8

"Jor-El," Clark said after flying into the fortress and landing. "Kara's ship is currently under Reeve's Dam. I need a safe way to bring it out and wake her."

"That is unwise," the disembodied voice said. "My brother Zor-El, was directly responsible for the destruction of our home planet. Your cousin could likely pose a threat as well."

"I know all about Zor-El. I also know Kara. Whatever her father did she is not responsible."

"Are you willing to risk the lives of those you hold dear?"

"Children should not have to pay for the sins of the father. Or should I pay for your sins as well." Clark said defiantly. "Should we talk about how you cloned Kryptonians from Kandor? Like Zod."

"You know about that?" Jor-El said after a moment of silence.

"I know Zod was your friend. But in the future he and his followers from Kandor gained powers and nearly took over the world. It was because of me that they were able to gain powers."

"I wanted to help the Kandorians fit in here on Earth; build a life for themselves the way that I have. I had to use some of my blood to save Zod and he gained powers because of it. Zod then gave all the other Kandorians powers."

"We have all made some mistakes. But let's place the blame where it belongs. Kara, is innocent. She doesn't deserve to remain trapped down there." Clark finished.

"Very well," Jor-El finally said. A pillar of ice emerged from the ground. On it, there was a metal key in the shape of an octagon. "This key is very much like the one from your ship. It will activate Kara's ship and bring it to the surface. You will be able to open it without activating the self-destruct sequence."

"For your sake, I hope you are right about your cousin."

"Kara is not a threat. Thank you father." Clark said as he turned to leave.

Later, Clark along with his parents and Lois arrive at Reeve's Dam. His parents and Lois stepped out of the truck which Clark had asked them to bring.

"What are we doing out here Clark?" His dad asked.

"There is someone I want you to meet." Clark said. Holding up the key, it began to glow. After a minute, a ship burst out and floated in midair. Martha and Jonathan looked stunned while Lois grinned. The ship finally landed on the ground before Clark approached it.

"Clark wait," His dad said worriedly.

"It's okay. You'll see." He held the key to the ship and it began to open. He backed away as a girl with blonde hair and a white gown could be seen in the ship.

She slowly opened her eyes. The bright light of the sun was too much for her so she held her arm up to block it. Slowly she began to take in her surroundings. Then she spotted the four of them sanding off to the side. Not knowing who these people were, she sped out of the ship to the edge of the water.

"Wha...what did I just do?" She said, bewildered.

"It's okay," Clark told her. "We're not going to hurt you."

"Stop right there," She commanded. "Who are you?"

"I'm Kal-El," he said. "I'm your cousin. Kara Zor-El."

Martha and Jonathan's eyes went wide at hearing that. They recalled how someone named Kara showed up on their doorstep, wanting to take Clark away. "Clark, be careful." His dad called. "You remember what happened the last time someone named Kara showed up."

"Dad, I know." He turned to his father. "But this is completely different. "

"This is impossible." Kara said. "When I left Krypton, Kal-El was just a baby. You can't be him."

"Kara, it's me. A lot has happened and I know you have questions. I can answer them but we need to take your ship and go. I have a feeling someone is going to be by soon to check on what's happened here." Clark told her.

"No," she said, not trusting him. "I'm not going anywhere with you. Now I need to go find my cousin."

She started to run off but Clark sped over and grabbed her arm. "Let go of me," She swung at him, but he caught it with his other hand and threw her to the ground. She tried to punch him with her other hand but he caught that one too. She was unable to break free of his grasp. "How are you so strong?"

"Kara," He said. "It's me. Your ship was trapped beneath the dam. You've been in a state of suspended animation, while I have lived my life out here. That is why I am older than when you last saw me on Krypton." Kara finally stopped struggling. "I'm Kal-El."

"Kal-El?" She stared at him for a couple of minutes. "It really is you."

Clark stood to his feet and helped her up as well. He brought her over to where Lois and his parents were. "Mom, Dad. I want you to meet Kara Zor-El. The real Kara. She is my cousin."

"Kara, these are the people who found my ship and raised me. This is Jonathan and Martha Kent." He said. "And that is Lois Lane. The love of my life."

"Aww, Smallville," Lois said. "Hey Kara, nice to have you here."

"Hi, Kara," Martha said. "It's nice to meet you."

"Martha," Jonathan said. "Are we sure about this?"

"Well, maybe Clark is right," She said, looking at her husband. "Maybe this isn't like before. We should at least giver a change and keep an open mind." Jonathan finally nodded, deciding to trust Clark on this.

"This is a lot to take in Kal-El," she said.

"I'm sure it is. But look, I wasn't kidding before. Someone will probably be coming by soon and we don't want them to find your ship here. We can put it in our truck and take it somewhere safe." He told her. Kara finally agreed and loaded the ship onto the truck with Clark.

At the Kent farm, they placed the ship in the storm cellar where his ship used to be. "This is where you grew up," She asked as they exited the cellar and she looked around the farm.

"That's right. This place holds a lot of memories for me." He said. "I know you still have questions, so how about I give you the grand tour and I'll answer them as best I can. Okay."

"I was told here I would have extraordinary abilities,' Kara said as he showed her around the farm.

"More than you know. And you'll have to learn how to control those abilities." They were entering the loft now. "I come up here all the time. My dad calls it my fortress of solitude."

"Fortress of Solitude?" She asked, looking at him.

"Well, the kryptonian fortress is in the arctic. I'll take you there soon." Clark said. "Kara I'm sorry I didn't come get you out sooner. I've been so busy lately that I only just realized you were trapped down there."

"Yeah, how did you do that anyway?"

"I went to Jor-El and convinced him to help me free you." He then pulled the key out of this pocket. "He gave me this key that activated your ship and brought it to the surface. I was able to open it and...you know the rest."

"Jor-El?" Kara looked unnerved. "I don't trust him Kal-El; neither should you."

"Look Kara," He began. "I know there is a lot of history between our fathers. Whatever happened between them, it doesn't have to define what we do. I won't ask you to trust Jor-El. Just trust me, and that I know what I'm doing."

"I guess," she nodded.

"I'm so glad you're Kara." he said with a smile. "You're family. It will be nice to have you around."

He then dropped his smile, getting serious. "There are some other things you need to know. Like how Brainiac is here on Earth. And we have to stop it."
