Hank and Olivia arrived at the Langan's place in the Hamptons and parked the SUV. Olivia had slept pretty much the entire way. They got out and got their stuff before heading inside.
"This is so gorgeous."
"It is."
"Trevor said we can use whichever room we want."
"The bed in the master bedroom looked comfortable."
"It did."
Hank and Olivia took their bags and headed up to the master bedroom. Olivia then sat down on the bed.
"Wow! It is even more comfortable than it looks."
Hank sat down next to Olivia.
"Damn! I think we need to replace our bed and get one like this."
"I was thinking the same thing."
They started kissing.
"How was your day?"
"It was slow. Diana ordered lunch from the Pub for all of us and came to the Precinct. Patty delivered it. We were talking about the shower and she offered the Pub. I'd kind of like to have it by the pool."
"Maybe we can but have them do the food. That way we won't have to worry about anything."
"I'll talk to Erin, Nicole, Adrienne and Denise about it and see what they think. I don't want to plan for it to be by the pool and have it be rainy. Then everything would be in the house."
"We'll figure it out. Don't worry about it."
"I know but I would like to do this before she has the baby."
"And you will. This weekend is supposed to be about us, isn't it?"
"Yes."
"Then we won't worry about it until we get back. Ok?"
"Ok."
They started kissing again, undressed each other and then they made love. Afterwards Hank had his arms around her and she had her head on his chest.
"You are so amazing!"
"You're pretty amazing yourself."
"Can we stay like this all weekend?"
"If you want to we can."
"Good. I don't want to leave this bed."
"That might be kind of hard since we have to eat but we will definitely spend a lot of time here."
"I hope the weather improves, so we can spend some time by the pool or at the beach. We really needed this."
"Yeah, we did."
"I can't wait for the Disney World trip though."
"Me neither."
"I do think we should get suites this time. We didn't have much time to ourselves when we went to Disneyland."
"That's true. I probably won't try for one of the Disney resorts though."
"I don't blame you. I'm sure there are plenty of decent hotels nearby like a Hilton or something like that."
"Right."
"Are you sure you want to do this with everyone?"
"Yeah."
"I love you. You know that, right?"
"I do. I love you too."
They kissed and then they got up and got dressed. They went to see what was in the kitchen. It had stopped raining, so Hank had decided to cook dinner on the grill. Once he was done, they had dinner on the patio.
"Can I ask you something?"
"Of course."
"Do you think we could afford a place like this? It would be nice to get away from the city every once and a while or if Erin and Jay wanted to get away for a weekend or something, they could. Even Ed, Diana and the kids could too if they wanted."
"We could look into it."
"Have I told you how much I love you lately?"
"I'm sure you have."
They finished eating dinner and cleaned up. They then went to change into their swimsuits and got into the pool. After they swam for a while, they went for a walk hand in hand along the beach and watched the sunset.
"This is so beautiful."
"It definitely is."
They went back to the pool for a while and then they went inside to get ready for bed. They fell asleep in each other's arms.
The next morning while everyone else was getting ready and heading to work, Olivia and Hank were still asleep. At Hank and Olivia's, Lucy had texted Erin and told her that she had a migraine, so she would not be in. Erin called Ed.
"Hey, Erin."
"Hey. Can you watch the kids? Lucy texted me and said she has a migraine and won't be here. If you can't, I can call Al and Meredith."
"Yeah. No problem. As soon as we finish breakfast, we'll be over."
"Thank you so much."
"No problem."
Ed hung up.
"I need to watch the kids. Lucy has a migraine and won't be in."
"Can you handle everyone on your own?"
"There are only 3 of them. Kara and Brandon will be there. Maybe I'll call Erin and see if Kelly and Connor can come over."
"That works for me. We can hang out at the pool. Can I call Aunt Erin?"
"Sure."
Kara called Erin and asked her, while Diana finished getting ready for work. Erin said she would bring Kelly and Connor over to Hank and Olivia's. Once everyone was ready, they all left. Diana headed to work after she kissed Ed and the kids. Ed, the kids and Lola headed over to Hank and Olivia's. Erin had already left, since SVU had gotten a call, so Jay was by himself. They got out of the SUV and went to ring the doorbell.
"Thanks for doing this. SVU had a case, so she needed to go."
"No problem."
"Erin nursed Camille before she left, so she should be fine for a while but there are bottles in the refrigerator. She's in the playpen in the family room and Noah and Rachel are watching TV. Erin said she was going to text Olivia to let her know that Lucy was not going to be with the kids."
"Got it. Have a good day. Stay safe out there."
"I will."
Jay left and then Ed and the kids went into the family room.
"Hey, you two."
"Hi Uncle Ed. Hi Kara. Hi Brandon."
"Hey."
"Hi Noah, hi Rachel."
The doorbell rang, so Kara went to get it. It was Erin, Kelly and Connor.
"Morning."
"Hey. Come on in."
"Thanks."
The 3 of them came in and followed Kara into the kitchen. The kids went into the family room.
"Morning, big brother."
"Mornin'."
"I'm guessing you weren't planning on doing this today?"
"No but they know I'm available to do this if they need me. I'm surprised you got Connor to come here."
"I gave him an ultimatum. He could come here to help you out with the kids or he could come to the Pub with me. You see what he chose. Probably because he can lounge by the pool."
"I may take the kids to the Zoo or somethin'."
"Bronx?"
"Probably. You don't think Pop would want to go with us, do you?"
"He might. He would love to spend some quality time with his 4 youngest grandkids. Ma would too. We can handle things at the Pub. We always do."
Ed asked the kids if they wanted to go to the Zoo and they all did. Erin left and then he called his parents to see if they wanted to go with them. They did but said they would meet them there. They put the kids in their seats and drove to the Zoo. Ed and Colleen were already there by the time Ed had gotten there with the kids.
"Hey, Junior."
"Hey, Ma. Hey, Pop."
Connor got out of the SUV and kissed Colleen's cheek.
"Hey, Grandma."
"Hi Sweetie."
Connor helped get Noah and Rachel out of their carseats, while Ed got Camille out of hers. Then Brandon, Kara and Kelly got out from the back
"Grammy Colleen, Grampy Ed!"
"Hello."
"Hey, Grandma and Grandpa."
"Hello."
The 5 of them hugged Colleen and Ed, while Ed put Camille in the stroller. Colleen was pushing the stroller, Noah and Rachel took Kara and Kelly's hands and Brandon took Ed's hand as they headed to the gate. Ed's cell rang. He noticed it was Olivia.
"Hey."
"Thank you so much for doing this."
"It's no big deal. I'm happy to do it. My sister dropped her kids off and then I took all the kids to the Bronx Zoo. My parents met us here. How are things there?"
"Quiet. We just got up a little bit ago. It was nice to sleep in for a change."
"I'm sure it was. I'm glad everyone was up and dressed when Erin called to ask if I could stay with the kids. By the time we got there, she was gone already. Jay said SVU had gotten a case."
"After the last few days, things had been pretty slow. She texted me and said you were there."
"She said if I couldn't do it, she would have called Al and Meredith. You wanna say hi?"
"Sure."
"Hold on."
Ed told Noah and Rachel that Olivia was on the phone. They both talked to her and Hank and then handed the phone back to Ed. Ed ended the call and then they walked around.
Meanwhile in the Hamptons, Hank and Olivia were having breakfast by the pool.
"I'm glad Ed was available to watch the kids and at least he didn't have the other 3."
"The twins are terrible sometimes. I'm glad Olive and Trevor showed up when we met you for lunch."
"That was a lot for one person to deal with. I texted Lucy to see if she's ok. I may hear from her or I may not. Sometimes she just needs to sleep it off. She could be back by tomorrow or she could decide to take another day and give herself a long weekend. Ed said Erin told him if he couldn't stay with the kids, she'd call Al and Meredith."
"Al loves spending time with the kids."
They decided to go into the water and then they lounged by the pool for a most of the day. They even made love in the pool. Back in the city, after spending several hours at the Zoo, they all headed home, so the kids could have their naps. They spent the afternoon in the pool.
Later on for dinner, Hank and Olivia decided to try one of the restaurants they had passed on their way there, so they took a shower and got dressed. They drove to the restaurant and had dinner.
Erin and Jay arrived at home and Ed and the kids had gone home. Before the kids went to bed, they video chatted with Hank and Olivia. Erin and Jay put the kids to bed and watched some TV before going to bed themselves. Hank and Olivia had gone for a walk along the beach again and just sat in the sand for a while before they headed back in to go to bed.
The next couple days, Hank and Olivia had spent time relaxing in the sun on the beach or by the pool but they also spent time in bed making love. Lucy had decided not to come to work on Friday, so once again, Ed watched the kids. Friday night, Jay had everyone over for the weekly poker game.
The weekend had gone too fast. Hank and Olivia cleaned up before they headed back to the city. By the time they got home, Ed, Diana, Trevor and Olive were all over at the house. Hank parked in the garage and then they went inside. They were met by the dogs.
"Hey, you 3."
They left the stuff by the washing machine.
"You two look relaxed."
"We are. Thank you for that."
"Did you two wear out our bed?"
"No. We spent a lot of time there though. It's quite comfortable."
"It is."
"Erin, work was fine?"
"Yeah. We were actually pretty busy these last couple days with you gone."
"That figures."
"You ready to go back to work?"
"Am I ever?"
"No."
"I'm not. If I could retire, I would but we still have 2 kids' educations to pay for. We now want to see if we can get a place in the Hamptons."
"Let me know if there is anything I can do to help."
"We need to see if we can actually afford to get something else with the mortgage we have on this place. It would be nice to get away from the city every once and a while. Erin and Jay can go there and so can Ed and Diana."
"You paid off a big chunk of the mortgage on this place when Hank sold his house, right?"
"Yeah."
"We are more than happy to share our place but I get where you are coming from and you wanting a place of your own."
"How were the kids?"
"They were good for me. They had a great time at the Zoo."
"Thank you for taking them and for sending the pictures."
"You're welcome."
"Are you all caught up with your paperwork?"
"I am."
"Good. I can hardly wait to see what kind of mess they left for me. It's too quiet in here. Where are all the kids?"
"They are all staying next door with the exception of the twins, who are with Trevor's mom and of course Camille. Dave and Sharon said they would return them in the morning after they have been fed."
"Kara is staying with Kelly tonight."
"We will come get Daniel after work tomorrow."
"Come for dinner then."
"We will."
"Are your parents back?"
"They are. I'm at the point where I enjoy when the kids aren't home. Is that wrong?"
"No. It'll probably get worse the farther into the pregnancy you get."
"I am getting so tired all the time. I wasn't this bad with Daniel or the twins. My mom said she will move in with us if I get put on bedrest."
"She knows about the baby shower."
"Ok, good. I was thinking we should probably tell her. Ed's sister Patty offered to have it at the Pub, we can have it here or at your condo, so you won't have to go too far."
"Ok."
"I may do the family medical leave along with my maternity leave, so I can take off the rest of the year."
"Once we have the next appointment, you can go talk to HR about what you plan to do. After the baby comes, I may take the week that I get and then work from home. I'd go into the office only if I needed to or if I had to be somewhere. We'd probably still need Jamie but then I could help out as much as I can with the other 3."
"We will still have my parents and my sisters-in-law said they would help out in any way they can too."
"Do you think you'd ever try to work things out with your sister?"
"Not until she grows up. I'm guessing that if her husband leaves her, that'll be my fault too. She never does anything wrong. My brothers finally support me but for once, I would love to have my entire family support me. She's the one that always thought she was better than me as we got older. She brings everything on herself. She has no clue what it's like to have to raise a child on her own or being widowed at 23. I had to do it on my own with 3 kids. Contrary to what she wants to think, I didn't move in with the 2 of you just to have someone support me and I'm certainly not with Trevor just because he has money."
The doorbell rang, so Hank went to get it. It was Dan and Nicole.
"Hey."
"Hello."
"Come on in."
"Thanks."
The came in and followed Hank into the kitchen.
"Hey, everyone."
"Hey."
"You two ok?"
"Actually, no. We just got a call from Peter. Mark was killed in a car accident last night. Jess is blaming herself because they had gotten into another argument and she begged him not to leave. The guy that hit him head on was texting. Dad also got a call from one of his former co-workers because they responded to it. Pete said he and Chad, along with Missy and Terri, have been with Jess since last night."
"I was just talking about Jess and the fact that she has no idea what it's like to raise children on her own or what it's like to be widowed."
"Up until now, no."
"I suppose I need to make an appearance."
"You should be ok to fly. We have an appointment tomorrow anyway, so we can always ask."
"Yeah."
"I'm guessing she'll want to sell the house and follow the boys out here."
"If she starts in with me, I'm out of there and I'm done with her for good. I'm basically going because I loved Mark and I love the kids."
"We don't blame you for feeling that way. I have a feeling that since this is a life changing experience for her now that she is suddenly on her own, this will be her wakeup call and she will want to try to repair your relationship. She will realize that she needs you more than she realizes. I hate that things are the way they are between the 2 of you but she needs to stop acting like she's so much better than everyone else and that includes you."
"Just don't tell her we're coming."
"We won't."
"Don't worry about the kids. They can stay with us."
"Thanks."
"No problem."
"We are so sorry for your loss."
"Thank you."
"Have they made the arrangements yet?"
"Tomorrow morning. Pete said someone would let us know. We have a flight out at about 10 tomorrow morning and I guess we will be out there as long as she needs us."
They all talked for a while longer and then everyone went home to go to bed. Jay and Erin checked on Camille before going to bed, while Hank and Olivia went into their bedroom. They got ready for bed and went to bed themselves.
