Waking up and feeling weakened in the morning was something that Hermione Granger, the first Knight of Enuma Gremory's Peerage, definitely would have to get used to, since as a Devil, she was no longer a creature of the light but a creature of the night. Quite annoying but at least it was a Sunday, which meant that she could probably get help from her fellow Devils and learn how her new abilities as a fusion between Devil and Warship (something that made her wonder whether or not she should call herself a Demonship) worked, how to activate them voluntarily and more importantly not activating them involuntarily, which was thankfully something that she and her fellow Devils had booked time to do, and do so with minimum interruptions.
How exactly they would manage to not shake hundreds of people awake with the thunder of Hermione's naval guns, wasn't something that neither Enuma nor Shalltear elaborated on, which made the hexagon eyed girl worry as she cautiously walked down to the beach of the Black Lake where she was greeted by her fellow Devils, who were wearing coats to protect themselves from the chilly weather and seemed to be busy drawing some kind mix between a mathematical and magical formula, that had a circular shape for some reason, in the sand. The veil of fog and mist that covered the majority of the Black Lake's surface and some of the school grounds at large combined with the chilly air of autumn made the atmosphere feel peaceful and sight of the water Hermione feel calm, something that she chalked up as the Tirpitz' slight influence. Her King smiled at her as her hexagon shaped eyes met the redhead's violet ones.
"Ah, there you are Hermione. Good morning. You're just in time. The fog is clearing up a bit. Clear enough for us and concealing enough to leave those few that are awake at this hour in the castle practically blind." Greeted Enuma as her first Knight walked up to her.
"Good morning to you two Enuma. So what do you have planned for this exactly." Replied Hermione as her King seemed to shift slightly.
"Calling it a plan might be a stretch but I figured having you try to enter the form we saw on Halloween and see what you could do in said form."
"So not really a plan at all, more like a set of guidelines on what to do?"
"Pretty much."
"Hmm. May I try to call forth the ship in her full glory?"
"Go nuts. Out of curiosity though, what ship is it?"
"The Tirpitz."
"Alright then. Go ahead and either bring forth the ship or transform, whichever you prefer to do first."
"Understood." Replied Hermione before the hexagon eyed girl took a deep breath and stretched out her arm towards the Black Lake. "Tirpitz! Come forth!"
For a few seconds, nothing seemed to be happening, until a quintet of crimson clusters of what looked to be thousands if not millions of tiny cube-shaped particles exploded from Hermione, before gathering a fair distance away from the beach and flashing a nearly blindingly bright crimson light, which caused the Devils to cover their eyes for a second or two with their arms. Once the light dialed down and the Devils lowered their arms from their eyes they were greeted by a sight that left them speechless (and even slack jawed in Shalltear's case).
Floating on the surface of the Black Lake was the Lone Queen of the North in her full glory. Not a single scratch on her like on the day she was launched on the first of April 1939. All of the total 64 guns twitching every so slightly with movement at what seemed like the slightest thought, which given the available evidence was probably true. Seeing her Knight's… interesting expression, Enuma couldn't help but ask.
"You okay Hermione? How do ya feel?"
"It's incredible. It's like being in two places at once, like I'm inhabiting two bodies at the same time. I'm not just in control of the ship… I am the ship. I'm Hermione Granger and the Tirpitz."
"Interesting. That makes you, in a manner of speaking, the second ship I know."
"Oh? What ship would that be?"
"The Flying Dutchman, also known as Dutchess. She's what is known as a Phantom-Ship. Old Davy Jones is like a father to her and the rest of the crew is like a huge eccentric extended family."
"I'm almost afraid to ask, but how do you know that?"
"They run a pirate themed resort in the Bermuda Triangle where my family and I went on vacation. Nice place actually."
Before the two Devils could continue talking, the distinct sound of airplanes flying over their heads caused them to look up and see what looked like a small squadron performing a performance of aerial acrobatics. But what was strange was the kind of planes flying above them. They were old fighter-planes that hadn't been in active service since World War 2. After performing a rather spectacular maneuver, the airplanes changed course and after a while suddenly burst into blue flames.
Taking to the skies as well in order to see past the Tirpitz, the two Devils who knew how to fly were greeted by the sight of the stern of a massive ship just outside where the Black Lake met open sea, the majority of the ship being obscured by the fog, but there was something else that the fog also obscured, making it difficult to see any distinguishing features of the person standing on the ship.
"Hey! Enuma!" Exclaimed Hermione suddenly. "I think I hear something!"
"That's interesting, because I can't hear anything out of the ordinary." Replied Enuma.
"Oh. It might actually be a radio transmission that I'm picking up then."
"What does it say?"
"Next year. Moon. Kaga. And finally, Red Duchess."
"Interesting." Muttered Enuma to herself as she watched the ship in the distance leave, vanishing in the fog.
