Chapter One: Zoo time

Harry was wary as he was staring at a snake, which was trying to sleep. Beside him was his boorish cousin Dudley (who he had called in his head a 'gorilla with a blonde wig') and his cousin's right hand man Piers Polkiss.

The two were tapping at the glass though the man in charge had told the two boys repeatedly not to do that as it annoys the snake.

"Make it move daddy," Dudley whined and Harry wanted to call him a 'pig' but had to bite his tongue, tasting his blood. "Make it move."

Vernon went over and began to tap at the glass, rougher this time when the reptile room curator went over and said, "do not do that as it annoys the snake. If I have to come here again and warn you I will kick you out of the reptile room." The man's voice was thick with anger at having to repeat his words more than once.

Vernon wanted to puff up and say something when the man's eyes narrowed, the amber hues glowing thickly. Vernon felt intimidated and walked away from him, telling Dudley that they should see the 'better reptiles'.

Once they were gone, Harry sighed and looked at the boa constrictor that lifted its head up. The moment it started hissing, Harry heard it as though it were English and he was replying to him.

Unaware that he had been stared at, a fifteen year old Bianca Bellerose (a soon to be Slytherin fifth year Prefect) was watching the boy speak Parseltongue to the snake as though it were a normal, everyday occurrence which it wasn't.

She knew that everyone thought the Slytherins were evil and whatnot but no one took a closer look at the true history of Slytherin House.

Purists? Yes, most Slytherin alumni are but their reasoning for being purists is simple.

Most-if not all-their family members were killed by muggles or those magicals related to muggles, all accidental. It wasn't like back when the Founders were slowly beginning to build the school.

Salazar Slytherin had lost his entire family-mother, father, sisters and brothers-to muggles with pitchforks. Godric Gryffindor had saved him alongside Godric's cousin Helga Hufflepuff and Helga's best friend Rowena Ravenclaw.

She shook her head of those thoughts when she saw the fat blonde kid literally shove and push the dark haired boy who had been conversing with the snake to the ground.

A hand on her shoulder made her turn to see her cousin Marcus Flint there and he looked at the scene with anger as her two friends-siblings Kira and Kevin Winters. While Kira could be seen as a vapid blonde she was actually smarter than half the students in their year and Kevin could be considered a blonde jock…towards chess as he was a prodigy in muggle and wizarding chess.

"Is that who I think it is?" Marcus asked quietly as they all watched the boy end up vanishing the glass. "If it is then he is powerful…a little on the small side but powerful."

"I have a bad feeling as to why he's small," Bianca whispered softly to her group. "I hope I'm wrong but I have a bad feeling as to why he's so small."

"Then let's follow them," Kevin told her gently as he squeezed her arm and Kira held her hand, squeezing it. "Let's follow them and hope that you're wrong."

Harry was worried, very worried, as he didn't know how half the things that happened had happened.

His only excuse was 'it was magic' and even that sounded lame. He didn't know what kind of magic could make things vanish and then reappear on top of pushing Dudley and Piers into the waters of the reptile's cage as the snake went off to Brazil.

He had a bit of a reprieve as Vernon and Dudley went in different directions-Dudley went to terrorize Arabella Figg and Vernon needed a huge glass of brandy. He had time to collect himself before Vernon threw the door open and dragged him out with Dudley there, both looking cruel.

He would call for Petunia but the woman would ignore him and then beat him over the head with a wooden spoon.

Fear filled him as his uncle and cousin tied him up and started to tickle him, causing him to cry out 'stop! Please Uncle Vernon! Dudley! Stop!'

They didn't and kept tickling him until he ended up wetting himself and going unconscious due to the lack of air.

Bianca was infuriated and wanted to kill the muggles when Marcus grabbed her arm, forcing her to look at him.

Though he was angry as well, he knew how to hide it.

"We don't kill them but we get even," he warned her. "We get even." His eyes were narrowed in thought about how to get even when a male voice spoke.

"Misters Flint and Winters as well as Miss Winters and Miss Bellerose," they turned to see their Potions Professor and the Head of their House Severus Snape there. "May I ask why you four are surrounding a muggle house?"

"We were spying on a potential first year when we saw him at the zoo," Marcus told him. "Bia was worried about why he was so thin and small for a possibly eleven year old so we decided to see if she was wrong but she wasn't." He pointed to the window. "The relatives tossed him into the cupboard under the stairs and then the uncle and cousin tickle tortured him to the point that he wet himself as well as passed out cold."

Snape looked and then at the four, his eyes narrowed.

"May I see into your memories?" He asked, wanting to see what they said was true and it was only appropriate to ask first.

Bianca nodded and closed her eyes, allowing the memories to come to the forefront of her mind so he would only see those.

Snape watched everything she allowed him to see what she had witnessed and fury rose within him.

Harry Potter's relatives-Petty Petunia and Vulgar Vernon alongside their obese child-were horrid as well as abusive.

Especially if they tickled him to the point of wetting himself and losing consciousness due to the lack of air. His eyes were narrowed to the point of anger. He knew that Remus Lupin had tried searching for the boy for almost ten years and had tried sending him gifts-the recent one being an archeological find though it was the fourth or fifth one he had found.

A raptor claw.

His eyes narrowed and before they could stop him he stormed into the house and took Harry in his arms.

"You four go back to your homes," he ordered. "You do not speak of what happened. Understand?"

He saw the four nod their heads and as they walked home, he disapparated back to Spinner's End.

He was going to call Lupin and tell him what he discovered thanks to four Slytherins.

Remus Lupin just got off his shift at the zoo where he saw Vernon Dursley and his family…alongside Harry who looked to be smaller than a normal eleven year old-or normal for him eleven year olds.

The moment he set foot in his house the fireplace lit up with Severus Snape's face in it. He couldn't tell if the man was angry or disgusted or anything as the flames didn't really show it.

"Hello Severus," the werewolf said cordially. "What can I do for you today?" The man had the impeccable timing of calling whenever he was in a bad mood and today was a bad day.

"For starters I have Harry Potter with me and it wasn't a pretty picture," Severus told him with anger in his voice. "Apparently four of my students found him by accident at the zoo you work at." Remus nodded.

"It's where I found him after all this time," Remus whispered. "He just…didn't look like an eleven year old or an eleven year old I remember James and Lily have been."

Severus nodded.

"Yeah I figured that much but it was worse," Severus admitted. "The uncle and cousin had tickle tortured him."

Remus sighed.

"So far that doesn't sound bad," Remus murmured. "Sirius had done that to me plenty of times." Even mentioning the name of his boyfriend hurt.

"Did he ever make sure that you wet yourself and lost consciousness?" Severus asked and Remus looked horrified. "I'm going to say no."

"That's right as he never did that," he told him. "He would tickle torture me but never to that extent."

Severus sighed.

"Do you have those things you got him for every single birthday that he had?" Severus managed to get out as Remus nodded. "Good. Bring them to me at my house."

Harry woke up and looked around the room that had wooden walls and a dark wooden floor. He sat up and noticed that the bed's duvet was a darker green color. He knew that he wasn't home now but he wasn't sure where he was.

"Where am I?" He asked himself aloud only for a male voice to speak.

"My home on Spinner's End," he looked to see a pale skinned man with a hooked nose and greasy hair. "My name is Severus Snape and I'm an old friend of your mother's."

Harry perked up. He had only been told that she and his father had died in a car crash.

"Can you tell me about them?" He asked. "Can you tell me what they look like?" He was a barrel of questions.

"Well Harry Potter I can tell you everything that you should be told," Severus told him. "But first…why don't you get cleaned up?" He made a motion for him to go to the bathroom.

"I never told you my name," Harry repeated softly. "How did you know?" He knew that the man knew his parents but Harry himself had never met him until today. He didn't even introduce himself.

"Your mother and father told me as well as the two of us meeting many a time before their deaths," Severus said with a nod. "It's good to be cautious. Never stop being cautious." Severus had to be thrilled that the boy was cautious. "The world is a dangerous place."

The moment Harry was in the shower, Severus burned the clothes Harry had been in and gave him his old clothes after shrinking them to his size.

The boy needed a thorough examination, so that way he could find out what was truly wrong with him.

He could be near-sighted like his mother, as she needed glasses.

Remus had everything that he got Harry for every holiday and birthday plus the random raptor claw that he thought Harry would like.

He had a collection and had given all the ones he had found to the museum while he was an explorer for a while. How was he supposed to know that his favorite park was going to be littered with dinosaur bones?

Harry did get out of the shower and saw some clothes laid out for him. Getting dressed in them, he smiled as the cotton felt good against him. Going downstairs he saw Severus with another man who was carrying a ton of gifts.

Making tentative steps downstairs he stepped on a creaky step, causing the men to turn and stare at him.

"Don't be shy little one," Severus told him. "Remus here is an old friend of your parents as well." The man-Remus, he remembered said-smiled at him.

"I knew your parents when Severus and I were younger," he explained. "We all went to the same school."

"School?" He asked, a little bit curious. "What school?"

Remus and Severus balked at the question, horror filling them.

"You don't know anything?" Remus asked. Harry cocked his head.

"I know math and English," Harry denied. "I know about geography." Remus gave a little smile.

"I mean about your heritage," Remus explained gently. "Your heritage."

Severus decided to leave Remus alone with Harry, educating him on his newfound heritage while he himself went to Hogwarts to get his letter.

Upon entering the Headmaster's Office he was surprised to see Dumbledore with McGonagall there.

"I was hoping to be the one who would give young pampered prince Potter his letter," Severus drawled and McGonagall looked surprised. "He lives near where I live. It would be easier for me to deliver it to him instead of using an owl."

McGonagall nodded and handed him the letter.

Remus had just finished explaining to Harry his newfound magic heritage when Severus returned, causing Harry to jump. He looked and smiled.

"Hello," Harry said serenely. "How's it going? Where did you go?"

Severus grinned as he realized that the young boy in front of him was questioning everything, like a tsunami.

"I went to Hogwarts to get your letter," he said as he handed him the letter. "Now…I am going to teach you that tickling can be very fun and not horrible." Harry gulped and as he began to gently tickling him, Harry slowly began to giggle.

Once Harry was done laughing after a few moments of tickling, Remus handed him many of the gifts he had.

"I tried sending these to you for so long that I could never get a good location on you," Remus explained. "These are all from me." Each box held an article of clothing that had been stitched by hand with a piece of fabric or some yarn.

Harry felt his heart thud quickly and he hugged the man who embraced it wholeheartedly.

"I also have something else for you," he said as he handed him the raptor claw. "It's one of the many raptor claws I've found while exploring."

"Can this be reborn?" Harry asked Severus, curiously.

"Couldn't hurt to try," Severus said with a shrug. "It could fail."

Apparently after five hours of Severus and Remus mixing and adding things to a cauldron Harry was holding a raptor egg, caressing it gently and lovingly.

"This is insane," Remus told Severus. "How was that even possible?"

"I don't know," Severus whispered. "I guess Harry's blood was needed."

Harry was in Diagon Alley with Severus and Remus, with his list and a backpack that held his raptor egg.

He hadn't been paying attention when he bumped into a man. He opened his mouth only for his eyes to keep going up. The man had beady eyes, a long scraggly beard and was bigger than any male he had seen-in height anyway.

"Bless me soul," the man said smiling. "Harry Potter." He couldn't stop smiling. "I'm the Groundskeeper o' Hogwarts. Rubeus Hagrid."

"So you've met Hagrid," Harry turned to see Remus walk over to them. "Hello again Rubeus." He waved.

"S'good to see you too Lupin," Hagrid said with a nod. "You here fo' young Harry?" Remus nodded. "Mind if I get 'im a birthday gift?"

"I don't mind."

Harry was having a blast as he had everything that was needed except robes and a wand.

As he went into the clothing shop, he saw a blonde boy who was glowering outside; causing Harry to look and see a couple of Dudley sized boys who were looking for someone.

"Trying to hide?" Harry asked and the boy turned to look at him, nodding. "It looks like you're doing a good job." He gave him thumbs up. "I'm Harry. You?"

"Draco Malfoy," the blonde said. "Pleased to meet you." The two shook hands and were talking and laughing when they were both done.

Harry felt nervous energy flutter through him on September 1st, worried that his new friend would abandon him if he didn't end up in his house but he shook his head.

He wouldn't…would he? Taking a deep breath he took a step onto the Platform with Remus behind him, his backpack slung across his back as Remus was pushing his cart.

The backpack held many of his new muggle clothing along with his dinosaur egg. Remus tapped his shoulder before Harry turned to look at him, wonder in his eyes.

"The stories don't do it justice," he whispered. "The stories don't do the train justice."

"Then wait until you see the school," he said with a laugh as the snowy owl-Hedwig-hooted happily. "Make sure that you write to me as much as possible." Remus was now fretting again like a momma hen.

"I will and hopefully Severus will allow me to use muggle pens and paper as writing with a quill on parchment makes my hand cramp up," the boy winced as his right hand was in a brace due to straining it. The potions did hide the pain for a while but that was it.

He also had to wear glasses due to being near sighted. He couldn't read a television screen unless he was wearing glasses.

"Hopefully he'll allow you to do that," Remus said with a wince as the boy's hand and wrist were in such pain when he stopped writing that even the slightest whimper made Remus' heart break slightly. "Ask."

While in a compartment, he was alone and had his egg on his lap, rubbing it when it slowly began to crack. The moment the top of the egg fell on the side of his leg and a blue raptor looked at him, making some weird sounds.

Harry touched his head and a spark fluttered through them before the little dinosaur began to lick and tickle him.

Harry was laughing as the little baby dinosaur tickled him and he smiled at him as he picked up the egg and placed them in his backpack.

"I think I'm going to name you…Trickster," he said as he looked at him. "Do you like it or do you want it changed?"

The dinosaur cocked his head and nodded. He liked the name Trickster. The moment the door to the compartment opened he saw Draco with a pudgy looking brunette boy and a bushy haired girl.

"I found them trying to find a toad," Draco explained. "What is that?" He asked as he pointed to the dinosaur.

"He's a Velociraptor-they came from the later part of the Cretaceous period," the bushy haired girl said before blushing. "I'm Hermione Granger."

"Neville Longbottom," the pudgy boy said.

"I'm Harry Potter and these are my friends Trickster the Raptor and Hedwig the Snowy Owl," Harry introduced.

Harry had Trickster on his lap as he was sitting on the boat with Hermione, Neville and Draco.

The two looked at the castle and were staring at it in surprise.

It was magical.

Severus should have been paying attention to the Sorting but he was worried that Harry was going to be without friends yet he was mildly surprise when he was sorted into Slytherin with Draco while the bushy haired girl Hermione Granger was in Ravenclaw and Neville Longbottom was in Hufflepuff, he felt happy as many of his older Slytherin students were tickling the two boys as his raptor was sitting on the table, face buried in a bowl filled with chicken.

This was going to be a weird seven years.
