Chapter One:

Jeremy Stuart was sitting on his big sister's couch as they finished up a few episodes of one of their favorite shows-The Vampire Diaries-and they would talk about what they liked and didn't like in the show.

"What about today's episodes?" Jasmine Stuart asked as she placed a bowl of cheddar-flavored popcorn on the coffee table where their bottles of flavored water were. "I can tell you that I thoroughly despise what the show runners had the writers do with certain characters." She blew a breath of air out of her face. "For starters they're trying to either romanticize a toxic relationship between Elena and Damon or make it seem like Elena can't leave the relationship with either Salvatore."

Jeremy nodded.

"If they wanted her with someone who could possibly be redeemed then place her with a Mikaelson," Jeremy said. "We have all four Mikaelson brothers who she could have been paired with if they wanted her to be with a redeemable character. Damon isn't that redeemable! He used and abused Caroline! He killed Zach's girlfriend while she was pregnant! How is he redeemable? Makes no sense."

Jasmine nodded as she ran a hand through his thick hair. Once removing her hand from his hair she pulled hers up into a high ponytail.

"I would have preferred her and Elijah," she said as she turned the television off. "What about you?"

"I agree as they had some sort of chemistry," he agreed. "Then there is the entire thing with Bonnie. I get it that she's a witch but it seems as though they're stereotyping witches! I doubt that all witches would hate vampires and the entire thing about how Klaus being a hybrid can only be killed by servants of nature? He's an Original…there's a White Oak made bridge and sign. Get some hunky lumberjacks in this and there you go."

Jasmine agreed with her little brother and as she stood up, she looked at him.

"List off favorite pairings-normal and random-and I'll rate them," she said as she walked into the kitchen to get a couple of slices of pie. "Then I'll do the same and you rate mine."

"We have to go with numero uno then," Jeremy said with a nod. "Jeremy Gilbert and either Finn or Klaus, Elena and Elijah, Kol and Caroline and Rebekah and Stefan."

"I agree with a few of them though the Rebekah and Stefan one…you might need to get me on board with," Jasmine giggled. "Why is that one of your favorites?"

"They had chemistry and a past that we never fully explored," Jeremy told her. "What are yours?"

"My number one pick is going to be Tyler and Liv," she said as she ticked them off her fingers, "Jeremy and someone that makes him happy, Elena and Elijah and quite possibly Rebekah and Matt." She smirked. "I just never clicked with Caroline-yes, at first she had been a good female character then it seemed as though she went downhill after seasons four or five." He raised an eyebrow. "Bonnie just…it's the same thing with Damon. Their first appearance I was wary and apparently they tried to make the show all about her. Super powerful at a few points, take the power away to turn her to powerless and then give her back that power but give her more? The show needs to learn more about balance and taking away that version of Hell was dumb." She rolled her eyes and he placed a hand over her mouth, not wanting to hear her rant about any of that again.

Hearing it over fifty thousand times during every re-watch of the final season made him annoyed.

It was why he suggested that they only re-watch the first three seasons and skip the other five altogether.

He didn't want to see her rage scream at pairing choices and what not.

"I don't see Rebekah and Matt," Jeremy sighed as he shook his head to dislodge his thoughts. "How can you?" Jasmine grinned.

"He saw her not as a Mikaelson and as a vampire but a normal girl," she told him. "They were cute and it wasn't really that explored." He snorted.

"Didn't they have that threesome with Nadia Petrova?" He asked and she shrugged.

"Does it matter?" She asked. "Klaus had a one night stand with Hayley-I adored that pairing over him and Caroline."

"She did have an affair with Elijah," he counted and she shrugged. "They were good."

"But not as good as him and Gia, him and Antoinette and him and Elena," she reminded him. "He and Hayley didn't seem to mesh well and I preferred her with either Klaus or Jackson. To me-and this is my opinion-she seemed to try and change him to someone that had zero flaws when we all have flaws." She fluffed her ponytail before tightening it. "She had a crap ton of flaws."

He eyed her and she sighed.

"I'm calm and in Zen mode at the moment," she admitted. "Plus I've been playing Animal Crossing New Horizons in between easy mode of Story of Seasons Pioneers of Olive Town-it helps me calm down." He laughed.

"I half expected it to be your entire library bedroom with your favorite books," he drawled and she laughed. "Seriously, two easy games?"

"They are really easy and help me Zen out…especially if all the sounds from the Switch is low and I'm blasting my favorite Taylor Swift songs." He laughed at her words.

Trust his sister to go straight to games and music to calm down. Standing up, he stretched his arms up and looked around.

"I think I should go home and get ready for bed," he mused as his watched chimed out '12am'. "I have classes like you do." He mentioned that they had college classes to do and while she lived on her own in a loft style apartment, he still lived at home. Sure he had work at a coffee shop on campus but it was usually during days that he went to school very early and could start his shift during the evening.

Jasmine also worked-she was a barista as well but she had an early morning shift. Looking at her wall clock she nodded.

"Yeah let's go drop you off," she said with a nod. "Come on." Turning the television off, she went out of the house after her brother who was the first one out. "Once I get us back to mom and dad's house I can sleep just like you can."

Upon driving in the dead of night, there were no warning signs about anything bad that was going to happen yet it did.

Another car was driving and the driver ended up getting a heart attack that killed him, causing his car to crash into Jasmine and Jeremy's.

The both of them died…yet they ended up in a weird place. Jasmine looked around and asked, "what happened?" She would have touched her face but the throbbing in her forehead on the left side made her wince.

Jeremy nodded and was wincing at the light.

"I think we died," he whispered as loud noises were making his head hurt. "That crash was painful."

The low humorless chuckle made them turn to see a man in a black trench coat with dark hair and eyes but his skin was the color of snow.

"Hello children," he said with a nod. "How I've missed you." Jasmine and Jeremy had no idea who he was so he explained in a blunt voice. "I'm your father as well as Jasmine's."

Jeremy stood stock still while Jasmine was gaping. There was no way this was her dad…right?

"Who are you really-besides our father?" She asked and he smirked.

"I'm Death," he explained. "I'm Death, the Grim Reaper and everything that you can associate death with…except the gods." He gave a bow. "As to how you both are my children…well it's real simple. I met your mother, we got along…one thing led to another and you two came along."

Jeremy felt the need to sit down while Jasmine was looking at her hands.

"Mom had an affair with Death…" Jasmine breathed and Jeremy nodded. "She had an affair with the personification of Death himself…" she ended up sliding down to sit. "Oh my darkness…"

Jeremy looked at him and then at Jasmine, noting similar looks that the two had-as well as the same similar looks that he shared with the both.

They had the same dark hair and eyes and while Jasmine's skin held a bit of a tan look to it, Jeremy's was more of a cream color.

"Say we believe you," Jeremy began as he stood up while Jasmine was still sitting down. "Why haven't you been in our lives since?"

"Unlike angels, demons and certain gods," Death explained, "I was not allowed to be around the two of you while you were growing up. Something about keeping things in check and whatnot." He shrugged. "It was all bureaucracy bull." He grinned and muttering a spell, Jeremy fell down laughing as Death was using magic to tickle him.

Jasmine was taking in a deep breath and nodded. She had to believe the illogical. Standing up, she walked over to him and held her hand out to shake his.

"Jasmine Stuart, age twenty and a college student," she told him. "Nice to meet you."

"It's a pleasure to meet you again," he said with a nod and a handshake. "As you know I'm Death."

"He's ticklish around the stomach and his armpits," she reminded him and he grinned as he went over to him and started to tickle him. "Jeremy stop fighting." She said laughing.

Once the truth was revealed, Death had to sigh.

"I…may have lied about why I haven't been in your life," he admitted. "The truth is…I never knew you both existed until you died-now basically." Jasmine smirked, as she knew why he had to lie.

"You wanted to gain our trust," she realized. He nodded. "Well played." She looked around and Jeremy asked, "what happens now?"

Death looked thoughtful.

"You can…restart if you want," he suggested. "You can go into any world and live it. What do you want?"

Jasmine nodded, as did Jeremy.

"If we can restart in any world does it matter which one it is?" Jasmine asked and Death shook his head. "I want to restart in the realm of The Vampire Diaries. I want to make changes to it."

Jeremy nodded.

"I agree with her-about going there and making changes," he said. "Can we start that up now?" Death looked thoughtful before bringing up his scythe that was hidden in his sleeve and waved it.

"Enjoy your new lives," he said. "Just call when you need my advice."

Jeremy woke up and wondered why he was in the hospital when he saw that he slid from the waiting room chair in a hospital waiting room. A mocha-skinned hand touched his shoulder and he shrugged it off, looking to see…

"Bonnie?" Bonnie Bennett looked at him with a jaded expression. "What's going on?" He was trying to act nonchalant but he couldn't.

He was in his favorite fandom and he was going to try and fix the damnable mistakes that littered it.

"Your sister and parents were in a car crash," she whispered but she didn't sound upset about it. "Your parents didn't make it but Elena's barely hanging on. Jasmine's on her way with Jenna."

Jeremy nodded and looked around, realizing why the scene seemed familiar. This was the hospital in Mystic Falls and everyone was definitely going to be feeling some true emotions.

"Good and now go away," Jeremy said harshly. "Go away and hang out with Caroline." Bonnie looked affronted by his words. Matt, who just entered, went over to them and was trying to calm them down.

"You need my support," she said in a defensive voice. "You need me." He snorted.

"We all know that you want Matt and hated the fact that he wanted Elena," he told her as the nurses were walking with the residents who stopped to hear what he was saying. "He didn't like you in a romantic sense yet he wanted your friendship and you turned it down." Bonnie looked scandalized.

"That's not true," she said instantly. "He wanted to go out with me but Elena asked him out." She was trying to make it seem as though she were a good friend and wasn't going to get in the middle of that.

A snort from behind Bonnie made Jeremy look behind her while Bonnie turned her head. Caroline was there with mascara lines falling down her cheeks while Tyler was beside her, rubbing her shoulders.

"Elena broke up with Matt after she caught him with you Bonnie," Caroline cried. "You two were half naked in his truck and kissing." Bonnie and Matt were blushing while Jeremy was glowering at them.

"Don't come near my family or I'll make you both regret it," he warned and as he stood up, he walked away only to bump into Jasmine who was with Jenna who overheard what they said. Jasmine had on a crystal pendant around her neck. "I mean it that I will make them regret it." His eyes had black flames flaring up in them.

"Go with Jenna," Jasmine whispered and nodded. "I'll take care of them." Going over to Bonnie and Matt she slapped both of them.

"I don't want to see either of you and even Vicki near my family or I'll make you obsolete," she threatened. "Do I make myself clear?" At their nods, Jasmine nodded and slapped them before punching Matt, breaking his nose. "Go get cleaned up as I doubt the doctors don't want to clean up the blood in the waiting room but her pendant wasn't clear like it was before…it was purplish pink.

She had the entire Bennett bloodline's magic in her crystal pendant now.

It felt like days for Jenna Sommers but it has only been hours as she sat beside Elena's bedside, listening to the saline dripping into the tubing that was in Elena's arms.

Her fingers touched the scratched up face of her niece and her heart was shattering though she had no idea that Death was in the room who had waved his scythe over the unconscious girl, destroying her compulsions.

It was definitely going to be fun to watch what his children are going to do.

The moment that Elena opened her eyes, she expected to find to find her parents there but she saw her sister Jasmine, her little brother Jeremy and her aunt Jenna sitting beside her-almost surrounding her. Her eyes met the tubing in her arm before going back to looking at her siblings and aunt.

"Jas?" Jasmine opened her eyes and looked at her. "What happened?' Jasmine smiled sadly and ran a hand through her hair.

"Just take it easy," she whispered. "It's going to be okay." Elena wanted to sit up but Jasmine had her still lying down. Turning her head to the left she saw a figure of a Civil War soldier who had died. She wanted to say something but she couldn't say something.

She knew that something had happened as she can now see people who shouldn't be there and her memories are strange. They had featured her in a lab setting in Whitmore House, someone talking to her to make her do what they say.

Jasmine was wondering how she managed to get Bonnie's family magic as she looked at the crystal in her hands. Looking up, she saw a pale hand and smirked as she turned around to see Death there.

"How did I manage this?" She asked him as she held the crystal pendant. "I slapped her and this happened?"

He nodded.

"You literally took the magic out of the entire Bennett bloodline," he explained. "You can return it or keep it hidden from them." She looked at it and nodded.

"They don't deserve it," Jasmine said after a moment of reflection. "They could have done amazing things and helped people but…some rotten apples ruined it." Death nodded and smirked.

"I'll make sure that Sheila will be known about this," he promised and kissed her on the top of her head.

Sheila knew that something was wrong when she went to do a spell and she couldn't.

Blinking, she tried another spell and nothing. Closing her eyes she tried to find her link to her family's magic and it was gone. Opening her eyes, she saw Death there, sitting on the couch with a Mason Jar glass filled with some red liquid.

"My daughter Jasmine took your family's magic as she thought the bad rotten apples in the family tree ruined it for the others," he explained to her. "She has the ability to give you all a fraction of it back but she refuses."

Sheila felt her blood turn ice cold.

"Who were the rotten apples?" She asked and Death smirked.

"She wouldn't tell me who the rotten apples are," Death told her. "I'm pretty sure that you could ask her yourself."

Days later Elena felt slightly better-well, not that much better as getting near a car triggered her fear so that Jasmine walked with Elena to the Grill where Matt tried to go to Elena.

"Can we talk?" He asked Elena who shook her head, unable to speak. The scene of Matt and Bonnie half naked in the back of Matt's truck, kissing and about to get to third base.

"I can't talk to you," Elena whispered and tried to get away. "I just can't talk to you and Bonnie."

Jasmine nodded and led Elena into the Grill and sat with her at a booth where Bonnie and Matt sat across from them.

"Do you remember how I threatened you?" Jasmine asked them with a small smile. "Do you really want me to utterly obliterate you both?"

"We're not talking to you Miss Bitch," Bonnie sneered at Jasmine before turning to Elena. "Sweetie what you saw wasn't real."

"So her catching you two about to screw one another was all in her head?" Jasmine got out loudly as everyone began to listen to them. "So was it all in my head when I caught Matt and you Bonnie behind the bleachers?" The two were blushing red-out of both anger and embarrassment. "Go sit somewhere else and we don't want to talk with either of you."

Jeremy knew that Jenna was out of town so he was on his laptop, on Craigslist, trying to find a way to get Elijah Mikaelson and his brother Niklaus here to Mystic Falls.

Rubbing his temples, he wrote.

'I live in the town that held a first love and a mother's betrayal, of where White Oak grew and grew. The newest version of the first love needs help. Death follows her steps.'
