Chapter 10-Nothing Good Lasts
Madison's P.O.V
Madison walks out of the room they were keeping Nick in. They had been in Arthur's house for a few days now, and Nick and Daniel were healing quite well. Madison walks into the living room, where Alicia and Ofelia are playing checkers. "Is this all you two can do right now?" Madison asks her daughter and Ofelia.
"Well, yeah. Strand is helping Arthur outside, and Ruby is with them. We found this in the closet," Madison smirks as she walks past them. She looks outside the window and sees a walker coming towards the house. She goes to the door and pulls it open. She walks outside and stabs the walker in the head with her knife. Madison drops the walker to the ground before she walks back inside. Madison shuts the door behind her and looks at Alicia and Ofelia.
"We get a walker every few days," Alicia says. "But who knows how long that will last,"
"We'll stay here for as long as we can," Madison says. "Hopefully, that is long enough for your brother and Daniel to be able to fight again." Alicia nods as Madison sits down.
Abraham's P.O.V
Sergeant Abraham Ford drove his truck down the road with Rosita Espinosa and Eugene Porter. He had a mission. Get Eugene to Washington and save the world. Abraham slows down the truck when he sees a group of walkers in front of him. "Stay here," He tells Eugene as he climbs out of the truck with Rosita. Abraham pulls his knife out as Rosita stabs the first walker in the head. Abraham stabs another in the head and throws it to the side. He grabs one by the shirt and stabs another on the top of the head. He pulls the knife out and stabs the one he was holding in the side of the head. He lets them go as Rosita stabs another in the head. One grabs her shoulder, and Rosita grabs it as Abraham stabs one in the head. Abraham goes towards Rosita as a gunshot goes off and a bullet goes through the walker's head. Rosita throws the walker to the ground as another gunshot goes off, hitting another walker in the head, going for Abraham.
"Who's there?" Rosita asks. They both look at a man as he comes out of the woods holding a revolver. He spins the gun in his hand and holsters it.
"You guys okay?" He asks.
"Just fucking peachy," Abraham says. "Who the fuck are you?"
"I'm John Dorie. Like the fish but I-E no Y," John says.
"I'm Abraham Ford, and this is my companion Rosita Espinosa," Abraham says. "You have some skills."
"Thank you," John says. "You okay, ma'am?" He asks Rosita, who nods.
"I'm fine," Rosita says.
"Well, I'm glad I could help you. But I have to go," John says.
"Hold your sharpshooting ass up," Abraham says. "I'm on a mission. We are trying to get that man." Abraham points to Eugene. "To Washington D.C. He knows the cure, and he can end all of this."
"Well, I wish you the best of luck," John says.
"Your skills could be useful in saving the world," Abraham says.
"I am looking for someone," John says. "I need to find them. My world only exists with them in it. She makes this world brighter."
"Abraham, let him go," Rosita says. "He isn't going to join us."
"But I would not mind a ride. There is a town near here that I can get some supplies from," John says.
"Get in," Abraham says. John nods as he goes to the back of the truck. Abraham and Rosita climb back into the cab. Abraham starts to truck, and they continue forwards.
Ofelia's P.O.V
Ofelia walks into the room Daniel was staying in and looks at her father. She walks up to him and sits down on the bed. Ofelia watches as Daniel's chest goes up and down. "Ofelia," Daniel says. Ofelia looks at Daniel, who has opened his eyes.
"Hi, Papa," Ofelia says.
"Where are we?" Daniel asks.
"We are still in Arthur's house," Ofelia says. "We've been here for a few days." Daniel nods as he looks around.
"Where are the others?" Daniel asks.
"Around," Ofelia says. "Madison is worried that trouble is coming."
"Madison is smart," Daniel says.
"Let me get you some water," Ofelia says. Daniel nods as Ofelia leaves the room. Ofelia walks into the kitchen as Strand comes in. "He's awake," Ofelia tells Strand, who nods.
"That is good," Strand says. "Now we need Nick to wake up before we move on."
"You think we should go as well?" Ofelia asks Strand, who nods.
"Yes," Strand says. "We need to find somewhere safer than this place, but we can't do that with Nick and Daniel in the state they are in." Ofelia nods as she walks away with the glass of water. She takes it to Daniel, who takes a drink.
"Thank you," Daniel says as he sets it down. "Can you ask Madison to come here?" Ofelia nods. She leaves the room.
John's P.O.V
John sat in the back of Abraham's truck with the pieces Laura had left for him. He didn't know if he believed what Abraham was telling him, but he also didn't care. He wanted to find Laura, and if they saved the world, that would be a bonus. He puts the pieces back in his pocket as Abraham slows the truck down. Abraham stops the truck and turns it off. He pushes the door open and sets out. "Is there a problem?" John asks.
"She needs more juice. Can you hand me that gas canister back there?" Abraham asks. John nods as he grabs it and hands it to Abraham. Joh steps down and stands by Abraham. "So, what is so special about this woman?"
"There isn't just one thing," John says. "She is special in every way. She ran off, and I will find her."
"I wish I could convince you otherwise, but I understand the feeling. If my wife was still alive, I would never stop looking," Abraham says. "We should reach the town by nightfall. Stay with us for the night, and tomorrow we will part ways." John nods as Abraham finishes with the truck. He throws the canister in the back. "Hope back in." John climbs in the back as Abraham gets back in the driver's seat.
Madison's P.O.V
Madison walked into Daniel's room. Daniel looked at the blond mother. "Glad to see that you are awake," Madison says as she walks over to him. "Nick is still sleeping."
"Your boy is strong, Madison. He will wake up," Daniel says. Madison nods as she sits down.
"Ofelia said you wanted to see me," Madison says. Daniel nods.
"I need to ask a favor of Madison," Daniel says.
"Okay," Madison says.
"I almost died, Madison," Daniel says. "That could happen again, and if it does, I need to know that my daughter will be okay,"
"She will," Madison says. "If something happens to you, Daniel. I'll take care of her like she is my child." Daniel nods. "Now rest. You need it." Daniel nods as Madison stands up and leaves the room.
Alicia's P.O.V
Alicia sat onside on the steps to the house. She looks at the door as Ofelia steps outside. "How is Daniel doing?" Alicia asks as Ofelia sits down.
"He just went back to sleep," Ofelia says. Alicia nods as she walks the woods behind the town. Alicia lays her head back against the door and lets out a breath.
"Did you think this is where we would be when we got on Strand's boat?" Alicia asks her.
"No," Ofelia says. "But a lot of things have changed since then."
"We've lost people too. Travis and Chris," Alicia says. "Jake."
"We'll always lose people, Alicia," Ofelia says as a walker comes out of the woods. "Another one." Ofelia looked at the sun, which was almost down. The moon was starting to rise.
"Ofelia," Alicia says. Ofelia looks at Alicia and then back at the walker. More walkers were emerging from the woods and coming towards the house.
"We gotta get inside," Ofelia says as the walkers come towards them. Alicia nods as she stands up, and they go inside.
"Mom," Alicia says. Madison comes from the kitchen. "Walkers and a lot of them." Madison nods as she goes outside.
Madison's P.O.V
Madison goes outside and looks at Strand and Arthur. "We got walkers. How much ammo do you have?" Madison asks Arthur.
"Not a lot," Arthur says as they stand up.
"Okay, we'll have to deal with them another way," Madison says. "Come on. We need to get inside," Arthur and Strand follow her inside, shutting the door behind them. The three of them go to the living room. Madison looks at Luciana, who has come to the living room.
"Take Ruby to Nick's room and wait," Madison tells Luciana, who nods as he goes upstairs to get the girl. "Ofelia, go to Daniel's room. If they get in you need to be with him." Ofelia leaves the room as Strand looks out the window.
"They are in the yard, Madison," Strand says as they hear a bang against the door. Madison pulls out her gun as the walkers start to hit the door. Arthur grabs his shotgun as the walkers continue to hit on the door. Alicia stood by her mother with her gun out, ready to fire, when the walkers broke the door. They could hear the moans and groans as the walkers outside. They sit there for a few minutes, and the door finally comes over. The first two walkers come in, and Alicia and Madison shoot them in the head. Arthur shoots a walker in the head with a shotgun as they back up. Alicia shoots another walker as they hear gunfire outside. Bullets go through the wall, and they all fall to the ground quickly. Alicia shoots a walker. A walker comes in, and a bullet goes through the back of its head. Abraham walks into the house, followed by John and Rosita.
"You're welcome," Abraham says with a grin.
Thanks for reading. So I'm going to bring this up now. Uh, in a way fuck the timeline of these shows. I'm not a hundred percent sure when John and June met, but it has happened by this point. The next chapter will be with both groups and will pick up from this moment with Madison's group. Also the schedule change I will now be uploading on Tuesday and Friday.
