Disclaimer: This is a work of fanfiction based on the Pokemon anime. All recognisable characters, plots, and settings are the exclusive property of Nintendo and the Pokemon franchise. I make no claims to ownership, nor am I making any profit.

This work was an inspiration from stories such as Traveller by The Straight Elf and Symbiotic by Constructive Writer and Legend by BlackStaff and NightMarE.

Type: Multi-Shot (It has six parts)

Author's Notes: I have never written a Pokemon one-shot before. It's something I solely enjoy and have been dying to write but couldn't get enough inspiration or time to do so. Some pokemon have evolved and are far more powerful than anime.

I also have three Harry Potter fanfictions going on right now along with another one-shot. If it strikes your fancy, go check them out. The fics can be accessed from my profile. I'd appreciate your likes, follows and reviews. It inspires me to work harder.

This fic has no beta. I'm in search of a beta-reader since I only have one right now. If anybody is interested in betaing my other fics, send me a PM or join my Discord server.

Ash vs Tobias- Part 2/6

The smoke cleared out at agonizingly slow. Both the trainers waited with bated breaths as they waited for the fate of their pokemon.

"Infernape is unable to battl-"

"Correction! Both Darkrai and Infernape are unable to battle. It's a tie," The referee declared, raising both the flags in a cross position. He was too astonished to say anything else as he kept staring at the scene in front of him. Tobias, who had not lost a single pokemon, had his first pokemon down.

The crowd thundered with applause. For the first time, there were cheers for a trainer that Tobias was facing along with anticipation for the next legendary that they would get to see.

Thankfully, Tobias did not disappoint.

"Trainers! Return your injured Pokemon and send out your next ones." The referee announced, shaking himself out of his stupor.

"Thank you, Infernape. You were great," Ash murmured to the Pokeball in his hand.

"Go, Latios!" Tobias sent out his next Pokemon, although the cocky confidence he had in the start looked a bit shaken. In a burst of light, the Eon Pokemon appeared in all its glory.

Another legend! How many does this guy have? Ash thought. It's good that I anticipated an aerial battle and finally brought her.

"Go, Pidgeot!" Ash called out loud, sending his second Pokemon onto the field. The bird appeared on the field and looked as regal and majestic as he remembered. Her golden plumage looked magnificent in the sun as she gave a coo to the skies, asserting her dominance before giving a piercing glare to its opponent.

(A/N- Did you expect Pikachu to appear? While I loved it that Pikachu defeated a Latios one on one, it wouldn't be fair on him. He is worth much more than equalling the Eon Pokemon. Plus she can fly, is a final stage evolution and is a better matchup than Pikachu. )

"Let the battle begin!" The referee managed to get out. The crowd was already deafening everyone in their vicinity and he could not believe his own eyes.

"Into the skies," both the trainers commanded to nobody's surprise.

This time, Ash ordered the first move of the fight.

"Pidgeot, charge up a Razor Wind," he commanded the bird, who followed without hesitation.

"Quick, stop it from charging up. End this battle with Luster Purge," Tobias spoke to the Eon Pokemon, going for the kill.

Hmm. Interesting. So he is going all out in the beginning. Ash merely smirked in response as Pidgeot kept charging several attacks at the same time. She knew her trainer too well to know that his surprises always worked.

With surprising agility, Latios charged up a condensed beam of Psychic Energy before firing it towards the opposing bird. The Pokemon knew that the Razor Wind would never be able to counter its signature attack. It merely smirked in satisfaction.

"Pidgeot, surround yourself in the energy of Pursuit. Take it head-on before using the stored energy as Tailwind." Ash ordered, again using an unorthodox method to escape what could be an easy defeat.

"NO! Latios, quick, switch to Dragon Pulse," Tobias ordered.

However, it was too late as the beam collided with the Pidgeot head-on. While it managed to push the Pidgeot several feet, there was not even a single scratch on her. She merely grunted in annoyance at her feathers being dirtied. She immediately used the energy to manipulate the air currents around her, making herself even more aerodynamic.

Latios soon followed with a Dragon Pulse attack. However, Pidgeot simply flew out of the way of the attack.

"Latios, follow it and use Waterfall,"

"Pidgeot, Intercept it with Steel Wing," Ash ordered hastily.

The two blurs of pokemon gained speed before moving towards each other as they collided with each other several times, not gaining any momentum as they were equally matched in terms of strength. With the help of Tailwind, Pidgeot was a lot faster than the Eon Pokemon. Thus, it was easily able to match raw power with skill and momentum of its own.

"It has slowed down. Use Dragon Claw," Tobias said to his pokemon, seeing that his strategy had worked well. The wet feathers would slow down the bird and he would get a clean hit.

Meanwhile, Pidgoet was having a bit of trouble due to water that had spread on her plumage.

"Heat Wave," he softly spoke. Soon a gust of scorching winds was sent towards the incoming Latios, who avoided it by a mile and flew towards the sky before gaining momentum from the gravity as it proceeded to hit the struggling Pidgeot.

However, Pidgeot showed its true experience as it simply went into a freefall, tucking its wings as it tried to avoid the speeding Latios.

"Latios, use Outrage as soon as you hit it and smash it to the ground," he relayed his instruction, trusting his pokemon to follow it.

Ash, on the other hand, remained silent. He had an inkling that Pidgeot was trying to make the speedy Latios smash to the ground. However, he couldn't help but be concerned that it would end up backfiring.

As they approached the ground, Pidgeot spread her wings wide open, resisting the pull of gravity as it pulled up at the last second. The Latios, however, was not so lucky as it plummeted straight to the ground. It did not possess the huge wingspan that Pidgeot did and while it was as speedy as a jet, its manoeuvrability was pretty limited. It was more like a speed monster but in a straight line.

"Latios?" Tobias looked a bit concerned.

However, the Eon Pokemon soon flew up to stand in front of its trainer. It looked battered and bruised, but it was raring to finish the fight and would fight till the end.

"Draco Meteor! End this," Tobias ordered.

With a roar befitting of a legendary pokemon, Latios gathered a Draconic mass of energy in its jaws before flying upwards and releasing it. The Meteor flew further up into the sky before splitting into several pieces of falling masses laced with Dragon-Energy.

"Psychic to manipulate these rocks. Send them hurtling towards the bird," Tobias calmly ordered.

To Ash's utter bewilderment, the masses of energy were soon surrounded by a pinkish glow before they conglomerated around Pidgeot, trying to hit it from every angle.

"Use Aerial Ace to dodge those rocks," Ash ordered, forced on being defensive.

Waves after waves of the meteors were sent towards Pidgeot, who despite its humongous size was able to gracefully avoid them.

"Fully control them. Harness the power of Luster Purge," Tobias ordered.

A pinkish-blue beam of pure Psychic-energy surrounded the Rocks. The rocks recombined into one big meteor before it was sent hurtling towards Pidgeot. There was no way Pidgeot could avoid it.

"Protect," Ash hastily ordered Pidgeot.

"What? Tobias cried out, clearly not expecting the tactic.

However, the shield was still not enough as Pidgeot was still hit by a considerable amount of damage. The Shield had, thankfully, managed to not knock her out.

Ash contemplated his choices. There was no way that Pidgeot could defeat Latios now.

"Pidgeot, use Mirror Move!" Ash ordered. He knew that it was a risky gamble. But it was crazy enough that it just might work.

With a pained screech, Pidgeot flew into the sky. It surrounded itself with a Hazel aura before a large chunk of energy started forming above her beak.

"Latios, charge up a Luster Purge and fire it towards the Draco Meteor forming on her beak," Tobias ordered, likely taken off-guard again.

Damn! Ketchum is just highly unpredictable. He thought in his mind, internally cursing the trainer. The victory was paramount. It would be his fault to try and go against his Pokemon team.

With a final screech, Pidgeot hurled the orb at the same time as Latios fired its signature move. She knew that if it hit the rock, all her effort would be wasted. Utilizing Quick Attack, she intercepted the beam of light before it could hit the meteor. The high powered move fainted her immediately.

"NO! Pidgeot," Ash cried out, too worried about the health of his pokemon to care about anything else. He never noticed some of the rocks pelting the Latios, as it tried to defend against the barrage.

Ash safely recalled her back into the Pokeball. "You did wonderful out there. I couldn't be prouder," he murmured soft words of thanks to his Pokemon.

"Pika.." his Pikachu sparked his cheeks in anger. Ash knew that it could've seriously hurt Pidgeot had it not intercepted the beam with its body.

"Pidgeot is unable to battle. Tobias is the winner of this round," the referee spoke, raising a red flag towards the side of Tobias indicating his victory.

"I choose you, Pikachu!" Ash sent his trusty starter on the field. There was no way he was going to go easy on Tobias after what he tried to do with his Pokemon.

"Pikachu, no holding back. Go all out," Ash ordered his buddy, who raised thumbs at him.

"Not even a fully evolved pokemon against my legendaries, Ketchum? Were the last two pokemon that you used rented from somewhere?" Tobias taunted, earning a glare from the Pikachu.

The crowd cheered at the small mouse as he adopted his usual fighting stance. It was not every day that a second stage pokemon faced a legendary, let alone be someone's ace Pokemon.

[Meanwhile in the VVIP lounge]

"Why has Ketchum sent a Pikachu of all things to fight a legendary?" Lucian asked, clearly confused.

"You'll see," the champion Cynthia asked, hiding a smirk on her face. She knew very well what that Pikachu was capable of size, evolution and type advantage hardly mattered in the higher echelons of battling

Lucian shrugged at that.

"Let the battle begin!" the referee signalled the start of the battle.

"Pikachu, Extremespeed into Volt Tackle. Full Power," Ash ordered coldly.

Pikachu was standing in front of Ash at the first moment. In an instant, a small yellow rat covered in condensed lightning collided with Latios from above, harshly slamming the legendary into the ground, creating a huge crater on the field.

[Back in the VVIP lounge]

Lucian spat his drink out at the scene before going deathly pale at the scene that had occurred in front of him. He kept coughing for several moments before turning to look at a smirking Cynthia.

"How strong is that Pikachu? What the hell!" he spoke, bewildered beyond belief.

His fellow Elite Four members only nodded in agreement, dumbstruck by what had happened. Not a single one of them could make any sense of the situation.

"I would not underestimate that Pikachu, Lucian," she answered, eating an ice-cream cone.

"That Pikachu is Champion level at the very least. I do not doubt that except for my Garchomp, it can go toe to toe and even defeat any pokemon of my main team. And I do not say that lightly," she informed them, making them look at her with amazement.

Cynthia was the Sinnoh Champion. If she was accepting it, then it was likely that they had read the situation wrong.

"Y-Ye-Yes. I agree but it's still legendary for Arceus' sake," he countered.

"And that Pikachu has single-handedly taken down a Regice, fought with Lugia against the Kanto legendary birds, gone toe to toe against an Entei, has now defeated a Latios," she spoke, deathly serious.

"There is no way it should be alive, yet it is. A second stage pokemon with the power, skill, ability and experience to go toe to toe against legendaries," she stated. There was a hint of respect and admiration for that little mouse and the trainer.

Why Ash Ketchum preferred to hold back was something she never understood. He had so much potential and the ability to become a Champion.

It all happened in just three seconds. It was the fastest elimination in the history of the Sinnoh League.

There was just plain silence on the field. Even the crowd became deathly silent at the strength of the little cheerful mouse that they were used to seeing accompanied by Ash.

"La-Latios is un-unable to battle. The winner is Ash Ketchum," the referee spoke, rubbing his eyes to double-check that he had not become blind.

I would resign if I manage to survive a heart attack today. The referee promised himself as he announced the result.

I managed to get it done early on since I had some free time on my hands. I cannot guarantee the same speed. But it'll not be improbable for another chapter to be posted this week. Stay tuned till then PokeFans. :)
