~Chapter 3~ My name is Kayo Tempest!

"Everyone, do you understand out situation?" Rimuru spoke to all the goblins gathered before them, they were not much to look at, being small, scrawny, and beat up. The goblins didn't have much of armor as they wore primitive loin cloths, there was some old shields, an old iron helmet, a few spears, and rusted swords in their position, possibly discarded by adventurers traveling threw the forest.

"Yes! We are prepared for a life-or-death battle!" The goblin leader saluted the slime, standing rigidly straight in attention, and the other goblins followed with the posture. "No need to get all worked up. Just relax. Think only about doing the best you can." Rimuru told them and that got all the goblins gushing like young schoolgirls for a cute boy.

'I didn't mean to sound that cool...' Rimuru blushed, and the fox kit besides him giggled a little. 'I think they took it as being confident you can save them.' She explained, looking at the goblins and doing a quick head count. 'Not all of them are here. I think we should look at the wounded as the wolves will likely go after the ones already injured for the starter to their goblin feast.' She mentioned and the slime nodded in agreement with her.

"Right, take us to where your wounded are." He asked the goblins and they escorted them to the largest goblin hut where the fox could smell blood, her ears lowered in sadness and worry. 'That's a lot of blood.' She softly whined and then where the curtain was pulled back, she couldn't help but gag from the smell. 'I… I'll stay out here.' She whined and used her tail to drain out the strong scent. So the slime went in alone as the fox kit stayed outside with the other goblins who looked worried and a bit scared of her for the moment.

"W-what are you doing!?" The goblin elder cried out, sound panicked and horrified. The goblins fear of the fox kit disappeared as she also was curious and popped her head inside with them. The smell of blood still dominant inside but… there was also a strange flora scent that was quickly taking over.

"Huh?! I'm?" A confused goblin loosely rapped in bandages sat on the dirt floor in confusion and slowly got up.

'What happened?' the kit questioned and ignored the smell of blood and came to sniff the healed goblin as the other's looked on in aw. 'Hey I know this scent! Papa always smelled like this.' The kit yipped in shock and looked around for the older Void kitsune but didn't see him anywhere around.

"Y-your wounds..." The elder started in shock as the once injured goblin also looked confused and surprised as he examined his body.

"They're Healed!" he voiced, confirming whatever the slime did to him, worked!

'I guess it never hurts to try. These healing potions really work!' Rimuru though and the fox kit looked at him in astonishment. 'Healing potions? Is this what they smell like?' she asked and was curious why her fox father would smell like them.

"Next! and next!" Rimuru jumped form one injured goblin to the next, taking them into his body only to be spit out at the feet of the elder and the little kitsune, all in perfect health with their faces to the ground and rears to the air.

'Since I ate all those Hipokute herbs, I've got plenty to spare. I'll heal them all!' Rimuru happily exclaimed, as the goblins looked on. The fox kit was thinking other wise as she understood some of his thoughts. 'A healing slime? Could it be like that anime where different slimes can do one task thing?' she questioned and thought of getting her paws on some jars to store some of those health potions for later.

"Y-you are magnificent, Great Rimuru!" the elder voiced, astonished as the hut no longer had a dominant scent of blood. The goblins bowed to the slime in gratitude as the kit added the once injured to her mental list of goblins. 'That's 74 goblins who can fight now. Still not enough to match the dire wolves but we can try and bring down their numbers and raise the chances. Their defenses could use a lot of work, like a spiked fence and a wide ditch.' The fox kit suggested, thinking about medieval castles from both Europe and Japan.

"Alright, next we'll build a fence! Fortify the village's defenses!" the slime spoke to the goblins, who where eager to follow their new lord's orders.

~That Night~

'Agh~,my whole body hurts.' The young kit groaned as she lay next to some preparing goblins, having helped with moving some of the trees to the village, digging a wide trench, and helped tying together some of the fences with stronger knots. 'You can rest now, you did a lot to help. I think we can handle the wolves from here.' Rimuru told her as he saw a female goblin offer the kit some water in a small wooden bowl, which the kit drank from happily.

"You have a very loyal pet, Great Rimuru." The goblin voiced and reached out and cautiously pet the head of the tired fox kit who allowed it anyway, it felt nice to get head pats. "What is their name? Surely you must have named such a loyal pet." The goblin asked as Rimuru also noticed something.

'Hey… do you have a name?' he asked her and the kit only looked confused and... sad?

'I don't remember my old name... and my fox parents never gave me one.' She admitted to the slime who took a moment to think. 'Forgive me for asking this but… are you a girl or oh! You're a girl fox.' The slime was shocked her response was to just show him her belly and what was missing from her soft white underbelly that the goblin took as permission to touch it, again the fox kit didn't mind as it felt good to feel a warm touch. The fox giggled, to tired to respond more as its golden eyes started to fall closed, only to hear her new name before she fell asleep.

'Your name is… Kayo Tempest.'

~Hours Later~

'Agh! What was that?! Are we under attack!?' the fox kit popped up as they felt the menacing aura not too far from the village. "Lady Kayo? D-did you scene something?" asked a female goblin. Kayo took in her scent of flowers and recognized the goblin that had given her water and was now holding her in her lap as they hid in a hut with several young goblins and other females trembling as they heard the dire wolves howl.

'Kayo... is that my new name?' the kit questioned as her two tails waged behind her before she slipped out of the hut and to where the dire wolves would have tried to attack them from. Her little paws moving fast in the darkness as it took no time for her to reach the fence she helped create with the goblins, who not stood shocked still as a dire wolf stood against the large pack that where a few yards away from them.

'What?! How did one get so close? And where is the slime ball!?' she questioned worriedly as the fur on her neck rose but… she could still smell that clean water scented slime close by? "Hear me! I will let you go just this once. If you refuse to yield to me, I will allow you to leave this place!" Came from the lone wolf that had it's back to the goblins before it let out a menacing howl at the remaining wolves. Kayo covered her ears with her paws to block most of it out, but it seemed that the lone wolf was the slime ball.

"Our pack yields to you!"

Kayo heard as she uncovered one ear and heard what the remaining wolves had collectively chosen.

"D-did we win?" The goblin elder asked, also seeming confused and a bit shocked at the pack of dire wolves submission.

"Yeah it looks that way." The dire wolf then turned back into a blue slime right before their eyes. "It's good that there's no need for fighting any more. Yep yep, nothing beats peace." He sagely admitted as kayo trotted up to him. 'So... the wolves are no longer a problem? How could you change into one of them?' Kayo asked and her golden eyes sparkled and Rimuru was a bit startled, not having even sensed the fox next to him before she spoke up.

'Y-yeah, your getting too sneaky. I think we need to put a bell on you Kayo.' The slime mussed, as the fox tilted her head.

"Kayo... Tempest?" the fox tried the name again, only out loud. No longer sounding like just yips and barks to the goblins. The slime nodded as he was her amazement. 'Yes, Kayo Tempest. That's your new name. I hope you don't mind if I gave you my surname. It just felt kinda... right after you helped me with the goblins.' He explained to her, feeling a little silly.

"No. No. I like it. Thank you very much, Rimuru!" Kayo yelped happily as she nuzzled the slime as a form of affection and thanks.

~Day~

"I have two tails!" Kayo giggly exclaimed as she was beside Rimuru who was perched on a stump and the Goblin Elder on his other side. 'What now? Who gonna look after not only the goblins but all these pup's too?' The slime questioned as Kayo got serious and counted the wolves and goblins that not reluctantly mix with one another under the blue slime's command. "That's 87 Goblins including the elder, children and females. And about 81 dire wolves, age and genders unknown." She informed the slime who took in that information with a trusting nod.

"Okay listen up!" The slime called their attention, both goblins and wolves perked up to his command. "So I'm gonna have you all pair up and live together!" He announced but the goblins and wolves looked equally confused at his words. "Do you understand?" the slime asked them all, but Kayo tilted her head. "I don't think they do, unless you mean yiffing." Kayo joked but the slime didn't understand the word she used.

"Great Rimuru, what does 'Pair' mean, exactly?" the elder asked, also seeming confused. "It means to form groups of two." Rimuru tired to explain but they still looked confused. 'I wish they could understand you Kayo. Maybe you could have put it better.' The slime thought and the fox sighed. "I wish so too." She muttered and then the elder spoke up.

"Oh but we can Lady Kayo. Very clearly now that we have proven our worth to the Great Rimuru." The elder mentioned with some pride as the fox was excited as her tail swished behind her.

"Oh! In that case. Listen up Gobins and Dire Wolves! The great Rimuru wishes to pair one goblin with one dire wolf to form a pair! That pair will then work and live side by side in peace with each other for the betterment of both races!" She explained add the goblins and wolves seemed to understand.

"Yes Ma'am!" they all sounded their understanding and Kayo kinda liked being a commander for a bit.

"So, um... what's going to be important now. Is food shelter and clothing. We should form teams to hunt, build houses, and strengthening the village defenses. We'll start with…" Rimuru was saying and was on a roll before he got to naming the teams. 'What was his name again?' Rimuru asked and looked also Kayo who also blanked on the names of the goblins.

"Hey what are your names, anyway?" the slime asked the elder, now finding it a little rude now that he never asked. "We monsters do not normally have names. Even without names we can still communicate our thoughts to one another." The elder informed the slime and the fox. 'That makes sense, and its effective if you can just think at someone and they can think back without getting any confusion.' Kayo thought at the slime, seeing if it worked.

"Yeah, but still, It's more convenient to have names, so I'd like to name you all. Is that okay?" Rimuru responded, having understood Kayo but just thinking at the goblins felt… wrong to him. Like they were mindless drones that were replaceable, but they weren't.

"N-name us? A-are you certain?" The elder asked, clearly shocked as the rest of his village and the wolves.

"S-sure?" Rimuru responded in confusion that made the goblins and wolves rowdy with excitement, even the elder seemed super excited to be named.

'Why are they so excited over something as simple as getting a name?' Rimuru questioned and looked at Kayo who also found it odd. 'Well in video games they don't usually name the starter monsters unless they're a boss or important. Maybe it's a way to say you value them as more than just goblins and giving names to pets creates an attachment to them.' Kayo suggested to him as the slime mulled over her words, questioning how old this young kit was and how she now had two fluffy looking tails!

"Alright everyone! Get into an orderly line! The great Rinmaru will get to all of you so their no rush. No pushing and No skipping." Kayo told the large group and gave a sharp glare to a big nosed goblin who was trying to slip ahead in line. He felt her glare and went to the back of the line like a good boy. "Elder Goblin first please!" Kayo spoke as the elder looked so excited he was shaking even more as he stood before Rimuru.

"What did you call the son you had that died in battle?" the slime asked, looking for some sort of starting point to naming all the goblins.

"Rigur." The elder supplied.

"Rigur, Huh?" Rimuru parroted and came up with a name for the goblin elder. "Then you will be Rigurd. Rigurd!" as the slime named the goblin Kayo could smell a change about the elderly goblin but didn't know what it was yet. "Thank you so much! Rigurd! I am so moved!" the elder started crying with tears of joy. The slime seemed confused by the tears and emotions form the elder.

Then up next was Rigurd's other son, the goblin leader who had found them in the forest that day.

"You'll inherit your brother's name: Rigur."

Again, something changed in the goblin now named Rigur.

'What could it be?' kayo questioned as Rimuru went on naming the goblins, and she tried to memorize all the names and scents of them all for later… and she started to hear her fox father's voice speaking to her. 'Skill obtained: Catalog.' Was what the voice said, confusing the kit a little but she found it suddenly much easier to memorize all the goblins as Rimuru named them, all of them had that same strange change happened with all the goblins so far.

'Getting a bit lazy on the names now?' Kayo teased as she noticed the pattern in names starting with Gob like Goblin. 'K-kinda, I feel bad giving them these uncreative names when they seem so happy to get them.' Rimuru mentioned as he was glad, he could talk with the fox without anyone ease dropping on them. Then Rigurd and his son Rigur approached them.

"Um...We truly do appreciate you giving us all names, but.. We are aware that your magical power is eminence, but are you sure it's all right to give us all names at once?" Rigurd asked, sounding concerned. What he said peeked Kayo's interest, that there was more going on than just a slime naming a bunch of goblins.

"Well I don't see any problem." Rimuru admitted, not feeling anything odd.

"Well if you are certain." The elder conceded but still looked worried.

"Who's next?" Rimuru asked as a little goblin child approached him next for her name. 'Hey Rimuru… maybe I should name a few. Don't need you naming two goblins Gobta or Gobuzo after all.' The fox suggested, putting a paw on the slime with gentle concern. 'It's alright, but I would welcome suggestions.' He mentioned to her as the fox looked at the goblin child and took in her spring like scent.

'Haruna.' Kayo suggested and Rimuru happily named the goblin girl Haurna, following Kayo's suggestions for the rest of the goblins until finally they got to the Dire Wolves.

'He's the son of the Direwolf Boss, isn't he? I wonder if he holds a grudge against me...' Rimuru asked, mostly himself but Kayo could hear him. 'I wouldn't doubt it. He even has a star on his head. If that doesn't scream boss, I don't know what does.' Kayo mussed as she let out a tired yawn and stretched as it had been a while since she moved, having helped named 42 goblins. Not worried about the wolves as all of them had their tails up in the air and happily wagging… hardly an aggressive stance.

'Hoshi?' Kayo suggested for the wolf that had a star on his head, but Rimuru took a while to come up with a name himself. All the while the wolf patiently waited for the slime to name him. "All right! Your name is Ranga!" Rimuru spoke up after taking his time to come up with a good name for the new dire wolf leader. Kayo also noticed that the same sensation also came over Ranga as it had done with the goblins, just slightly different for some reason.

"Ranga." The wolf repeated, his tail wagging happily behind him. Kayo chuckled at the wolf who looked at the small fox, he could have easily eaten her in two bites, but the wolves could all smell Rimuru's scent on her so they wouldn't dare try and hurt this little fox kit.

"Rimuru!" Kayo called out in shock as she saw the slime move oddly and start to melt? "Wh-what's going on? My body... everything... is getting dark..." Rimuru managed to say as the goblins panicked upon seeing the slime melting and Kayo was using her tails to hold him together looking worried that something bad happened to the smile ball.

'I used up too many magicules? How...?' Kayo heard the slimes question, not able to hear great sage. Panic started to over take the goblins but Kayo was quick to recover, she had to.

"ENOUGH! Lord Rimuru requires lots of rest!" he barked at them as she held the slime as best she could with her two tails. "Let's follow his order and get this village in shape! I will sort each of you into pairs and groups. I will give you tasks and you are to complete them to the best of your abilities. Let's make Lord Rimuru proud of us! Am I understood!?" she asked and looked around at the wolves and goblins who where shocked for a moment, her aura was different as a voice came into her head again.

'Unique Skill Obtained: Match Maker.'

'Match maker? Why would I need that?' Kayo questioned but then saw it's potential when used with Catalog. She was able to pair up a wolf with most of the goblins and then give those pairs jobs like hunting party, those that gathered food from the plants and trees, those that could fortify the village or build more house, those that could cook and a few that could be trusted to lead the others without Kayo or Rimuru having to tell them what to do.

All the while Kayo made sure Rimuru would be okay and left to ensure that things would be better when he woke up. Helping the goblins and wolves get along, work together, and take care of one another. It helped that Kayo was starting to learn new skills, some she was eager to show Rimuru later.

The only downside for her was Ranga who stuck to her like glue, but it wasn't all bad… at least she could eat bigger meals without the risk of becoming a bite sized snack herself.

~3 Days Later~

Kayo was napping peacefully on top of the bigger and stronger Ranga, in a new form she learned to transform into. It was that of a small human like child but of course with her fox ears and tail, her skin was soft and chubby with tan skin like she used to have in her old life. Her black hair was short and a bit messy from being out in the forest with wolves and goblins, of course she was also given clothes like the goblins and wore a tube top and skirt that allowed her tail to poke out freely. She was exhausted from the night hunt and full of the spoils Ranga offered her as Rimuru's 'pet'. Even if she wasn't a pet, she wasn't going to turn down the hind quarter of a large buck they had taken down that night, and it didn't take away from any of the others, so she happily accepted the meal.

Sleeping contently with her belly full and everything ready for Rimuru to wake up.

"The Great Rimuru has awakened!" Came a familiar booming voice that startled the kit awake and got Ranga to raise his head.

"Huh? Master has awakened!?" the Star wolf questioned, his tail wagging at the thought that Rimuru had awakened, getting up on his paws as Kayo was still on his back and out of reflex held on tightly to his fur as the wolf shot off to where the slime had been put for safe keeping.

"Ranga! Slow down!" Kayo yelled at the wolf but it was too late as he came crashing into the hut, and she flew off his back and onto the now recovered Rimuru, while laying on her back.

"Master! Allow me to express my utmost joy at your recovery!" Ranga yelled excitedly to see that Rimuru was okay.

Meanwhile Kayo yawned, "Morning slime ball. You really scared everyone back there. You got to be careful not to go to low on those magicules or you might die next time." She warned the slime and rolled off him so he could see her and Ranga. Of the two of them Kayo had changed the most. "Kayo? And your Ranga?" Rimuru asked as he looked at the fox eared child and the way bigger Wolf who was so happy his wagging tail started to create a small tornado around them that blue the slime up, up, and away.

"Agh! Ranga clam down! You're making a tornado!" Kayo yelled at the wolf as she took cover near his front legs, where she learned was the safest place to be when he was wagging his tail. "S-sorry." He whined and stopped his tail, having learned to listen to the kit like she was his master. "Agh, it's too early in the morning for this." She groaned and heard the commotion outside, walking outside with Ranga they saw all the goblins tossing Rimuru around like a beach ball in their celebration.

"Looks like you don't have to take care of us on your own anymore, Master Kayo." Rigurd spoke up as he recovered from Ranga crashing into the hut. Kayo couldn't help but admire the buff physique of the goblin elder for a little bit. "Yes, it seems so. Then again I'm just a pet to the great Rimuru." She shrugged and rolled with her accidental title. Giving Ranga a supportive pet so he didn't feel to bad about what he had done.

~Later~

Kayo was taking a much-deserved nap against the Tempest wolf leader, after catching Rimuru up to speed on the status of the village. All of the goblins and wolves had evolved and some even changed in appearance. Kayo had paired the goblins and wolves up to create efficient teams of hunters, gathers, builders, and scouts for the village, but she couldn't do much to help with clothes, having shown the goblins how to make and weave baskets and tie strong knots, even helped Rigurd with some of his back problems he had due to old age. It was a lot and Kayo decided she could tell him later about her new skills and about Eros.

Rimuru sat on the tree stump from before and had a tuff of Ranga's fur on his face, waiting for the goblins to settle down.

"Hmph, it took 5 minutes for all of you to quiet down." Rimuru voiced and only Kayo seemed to understand it but not the goblins who where confused. 'They didn't get my best joke!?'

'It's a joke back from our world, of course they wouldn't get it slime ball.' Kayo explained to the slime who was a little disappointed but saw her reasoning but was still disappointed as he took off the sill fur mustache.

"Great Rimuru what did you mean by that?" Rigurd asked the slime who was a bit embarrassed his joke didn't land. "F-forget about it." The slime grumbled before he looked at all of his new subjects. "As you can see, we're a huge family now family. So to avoid problems I think we should set some rules." Rimuru reasoned but it seemed to confuse the goblins a little as one raised his hand like Kayo taught them.

"Great Rimuru, do you mean like Master Kayo's rule of never venturing out of the village alone?" one goblin inquired, "Or to always trust your wolf partner?" another goblin asked after also raising her hand.

"Well... those are good safety rules, but I only have 3 rules I'd like you to uphold at the very least. First: No attacking Humans. Second: No fighting amongst yourselves. And Third: No belittling other races. That's it." The slime told them and hoped it would sit well with the evolved goblins but they seemed to be pondering his rules for a bit.

"Sir!" Rigur raised his hand.

"Yes, Rigur?" Rimuru looked to the goblin who looked a bit concerned. "Why aren't we allowed to attack humans?" he asked but was almost about to get scolded by his father.

"It's all right." Rimuru assured them and gave his reason for that rule. "The reason is simple. It's because I like humans. That's it." The slime told them simply, not wanting to try an explain his past life as a human. Only decide him was a little fox who looked away, holding her tongue as to not say anything that would go against what the slime wanted for this village.

'Let's hope you're not setting them up for destruction slime ball. Humans can be the worst kinds of monsters.' Kayo thought bitterly, not meaning for it to reach the slime who noticed her distaste for humans.
