BOLD - Issei Speaking
Chapter 6 - Childhood and Adolescence
Issei's elementary school was quite different from your average Japanese school. The school was a large Spanish-style building and about 5 stories tall. The exterior was a blinding white, so white that it seemed the sun would reflect off of it into your eyes. Embroidered dark-brown and green trim around the windows, the school was far from "Japanese normal".
Issei waltzed through the corroded brown-greenish copper front gates into the school building and carelessly waltzed to the attendance office. He waited for about 20 minutes in line and attempted to plead his case. On his way to the school, he replaced his ripped clothes with his draconic magic. "My name is Issei Hyodou. It's my first day of school, as I am a transfer student. I had to walk and I got lost on my way here, please forgive me for my malattendance and poor punctuality!" The seven-year-old genius sobbed. The old lady with gray curly hair widened her faint blue eyes and responded, "You're in class 1-A. I'll let you off the hook this time, but don't ever do this again."
The old lady was extremely surprised at the way Issei conducted himself, and how mature he was. He was so mature, it scared her.
Issei, whose sob was replaced with a joyful expression, exclaimed, "Thank you so much! I appreciate it!" 'Wow, that kid is really mature for his age,' the attendance office worker pondered. Issei walked out of the attendance office bearing a bright smile and ran faster than the top Olympic gold medalist by 3x and ran to class 1-A. On his way, he was stopped by a guard who was pretty much dumbfounded by Issei's speed. Issei did not expect to be seen.
"Sorry, I shouldn't be running in the halls! It's my first day and I'm really excited to get to class!" the excited Issei exclaimed. Issei attempted to wear a sob, but it was overpowered by the sheer excitement of it being his first day of school. He was going to meet so many people and do so many normal human things he could never imagine doing before.
"You're excused, but I've uh- never seen you before," the guard dumbfoundedly responded. His attire was similar to that of a police officer, excluding the vest. He wore a gold-embroidered police cap, a blue button-down dress shirt, and black pants. He is the definition of a "hall monitor".
"My name is Issei Hyodou, a first-year transfer student. It's a pleasure making your acquaintance. Sorry, but I have to go. I was absent for the first 2 hours of school, and as a result, I am extremely late. You have my immense apologies," Issei professionally and courteously stated. The security guard, who was already in an intense shock from Issei's speed, nearly reached an overload.
Never, in all of his years of monitoring halls ever met anyone, including the adults, that are so erudite in their communication. Issei was even surprised at how he spoke and decided to restrain himself from speaking like that further on, otherwise, he would be weird.
Issei was making odd first impressions. To be honest, everyone he had met so far thought he was a monster. Issei arrived at his classroom and gently knocked on the door, followed by him turning the golden round knob. Issei was still getting used to controlling his power, so he accidentally opened the door extremely quickly. He ripped the door towards him, causing it to slam into the wall.
Issei began to sweat and his eyes widened as he just caused a huge commotion just by opening a door. "Um… uh- I'm Hyodou Issei, a transfer student. Sorry, I'm not used to these kinds of doors yet… Please take care of me!" Issei shyly spoke. Issei was extremely mature and confident but got flustered easily whenever he was the cause of anything embarrassing.
The students were in complete awe. A hot kid with bursting muscles and luscious brown hair with gold highlights just destroyed the door. The girls let out a large "Kyah~". Issei was already more popular with the girls than all of the boys at the school were.
The teacher responded with a sigh as grief lay upon her face. "I'm Ms. Kazugi. Take the seat in the back next to the window. I'll get you caught up after class." Issei took his seat, and his school life began.
ISSEI'S LIFE (up to age 16)
Issei, throughout all of the schooling he went to, was extremely popular with the girls, but the guys and staff thought of him differently. To them, he was a monster. Issei broke Olympic records in some sports and aced all of his classes, never getting a single question wrong. While the girls overlooked it and believed it was charming, the men and teachers kept their distance. As a result, he had no friends. Issei did find his new life satisfactory though, as he felt that he was in debt for having such a caring family to take care of him.
Issei was resilient and believed in not getting bogged down by not having friends, but his heart became a recluse as his dire need for intimacy increased to the point it overtook him. He always went to school with a smile, but he was believed to be a monster by all the guys and adults around him. Even though it affected his heart, Issei carried on like he always had. For the most part, Issei's personality remained the same, excluding his desire for a friendship.
Issei spent most of his free time in the underworld. He practiced his light abilities, and over the course of 9 years, learned to stop time completely for 10 minutes, reverse time by 1 hour, and speed up time for 1 hour.
Issei was practically invincible, as he was up in the top 10 of the strongest beings in existence. Issei though was covert about his strength and wanted to make a huge entrance as the strongest existence, so he kept training. All Issei needed to do was learn how to transform into his dragon form, and then he would be literally invincible. Issei's presence also evolved, resembling himself rather than his parents. The only exception to this was when he used his light magic. Issei resented his parents, so he didn't plan on using it in combat unless he had to, but Issei knew himself, and that he wouldn't be able to restrain himself if he's angered to that point.
Issei, passing through his school life, ended up with Straight-As all through elementary and junior high school. Issei then went to Kuoh Preparatory School for his first year of High School. He learned how to control his powers in day-to-day life, making him seem more 'normal, but the people that were with him in elementary school stuck to him like glue all the way into high school. It was then that Issei told his parents that he wanted to swap schools, and they happily obliged. Issei, as a second-year in High School, transferred to Kuoh High School, a public high school that recently changed from being an 'All-Girls' school.
Issei, as a dragon, decided to do away with the gold in his hair. As awesome as it looked, it made him look a little out of place. Issei was about 5'9', but was extremely buff. Robust pecs, a brawny 6 pack, carved biceps and triceps, and built-out hamstrings.
PRESENT (CANON STARTS [First day of school]!)
Issei, instead of using his light or time abilities to get to school, decided to walk there the old-fashioned way. He learned how to restrain his strength and his urges to use his strength, and didn't want devils or fallen angels sensing him, or his parents.
Issei woke up in his small bed as his alarm lit up with an anime character that calmly spoke, "Good morning, sleepyhead. If you don't get up, I'll kiss you..." He groaned and slammed the snooze button and slept for 10 more minutes. That 10 turned into 20, which turned into 30, which turned into an hour. Issei then finally gathered the energy to get up and realized school started in 5 minutes, and his house was an hour's walk away.
Issei began to panic, as he was about to be late for his first day of school! Issei slept naked, with little bed coverings, as they just disturbed his sleep. He got up, threw on his school outfit, and left his hair undone (Looks like his hair in the anime). Issei ran down the stairs as he thought about what he should do. It then hit him, if he made a summoning circle to the school, as Tannin had taught him, he would make it. He went to the school for orientation during the weekend with his parents, so he knew where the school was.
It was just a matter of remembering a spot that nobody would see him in. Worst case, Issei would just wipe their memories, but as he thought of a place, only one came to mind. The rooftop. Issei then poured a little bit of magic energy into a summoning circle, as he was munching on a ripe banana he nabbed while scurrying around downstairs as his left hand was vibrant in a gold magical crest.
Issei then yelled upstairs "I'm leaving!", hoping his parents would hear him. As he got no response, he decided it would be a good idea to just leave. Issei vanished and appeared on the school rooftop.
Issei, with 3 minutes left, decided to waste one taking in the view of the school. The school building that he was standing on was 3 stories. The only other buildings were the gym, the shed, and the abandoned school building. Issei began to get unnerved as he felt multiple devil presences emanating from the abandoned school building.
He just shrugged it off, and as he was about to jump off, towards class 2-A, which Issei was a member of, he heard a grunt behind him. There was a small, chibi-looking girl giving off a careless stare. Issei jumped back because he felt the presence of the devil, leaving his foot almost hanging off the rooftop.
The girl was absolutely adorable. She had glistening white hair that shined brightly off of the sun, beautiful golden cat-eyes that almost resembled his one, and a cute face in general, as she looked like one of those lollis he remembered seeing in an episode of Dragon-ha!
The girl wore a blank expression, as she wasn't concerned with the situation. Luckily for Issei, he had learned to repress his power and presence. To a devil, he felt no different than your average human. Issei figured this out, then thought,
'Fuck, these stupid devils always snooping around. Aside from Tannin, it's my first time seeing one up close, excluding that guy with orange hair I fucked up when I was 4. Alright, what should I say to her? 'This is a misunderstanding?' No. 'Please overlook this?' Never happening. 'What's your name, you're kind of cute' Fuck no, damn pervert! I can't kill the kid, because someone will hear some sort of noise, not to mention she will go missing and that'd just be fucked up.'
Issei, as flustered as he was, decided to take a breath, and calmly thought,
'Ok. So, what can I do? I can erase her memory of seeing me pop out of the summoning circle, but this is my first time doing it. Will I overdo it? Will it be ok? I hope so because this is my only shot at a normal life.'
This was the first time Issei had altered memories. He wasn't sure if he was going to do it right. Issei then concentrated on his hand, and opened a magic circle, praying he wasn't going to overdo it. The girl behind him quickly jumped up and attempted to get away. "Too Slow" Issei muttered. Issei then appeared in front of the girl in mid-air, and tapped her head, causing her to pass out, erasing her memory of Issei appearing.
Issei then caught her in his arms and laid her down on the rooftop. Issei then approached the edge of the rooftop, sparing a frustrated glint at the girl, and jumped. Issei had about 30 seconds left to get to class. He knew that he couldn't run because if he did, he would literally get a speeding ticket. He then decided it appropriate to just walk, and tank the tardy.
Issei then arrived at the door of class 2-A about 2 minutes late, then gently turned the knob, and retained a confident look on his face. Issei opened the door wide enough to where everyone noticed. "So you must be the new transfer student. Hyodou-san, please introduce yourself to the class," the teacher spoke.
The teacher was about 5'8', just an inch under Issei. She wore long brown hair on her petite white face. She also had on cherry red lipstick, light pink blush, some mascara, and some eyeliner. She really did go a bit crazy with the makeup, but she was a beauty nonetheless. She also wore the hot brown glasses that gave her outfit an extra flare. Issei immediately looked at her chest, like the pervert he was. He almost began to drool as the teacher's bosom was one of the best he had seen. Her breasts had a tender roundness, a large size, and petite nipples that protruded through her sweater.
Issei snapped out of his dazed, perverted look and let out a cough to cover it, and spoke "Hello, my name is Issei Hyodou, a second-year transfer student. I'm looking forward to meeting all of you. Please take care of me!" Issei dumbed down his language a bit, just so he wouldn't sound like Japanese Shakespeare. All of the girls excitedly chanted, "Second Prince, Second Prince, Second Prince", as Issei was extremely hot. After all, he had curvaceous pecs, a 6-pack, and some ripped-looking arms. Although his hair looked kind of weird, his eyes glistened in the light seeping through the windows, as they were a golden brown.
The class was pretty much all girls, excluding the two guys that sat in the back that looked down in the dumps. One wore long hair and glasses while the other was pretty much bald. Issei paid no mind to this, and was ready to make friends!
In the Abandoned School Building
"All I remember is a random guy showed up out of a summoning circle. Nothing more. He tried to erase my memory but failed to do it completely. I didn't sense any presence from him though. He would seem like your average human boy if he didn't pop out of a magic circle," the white-haired mascot spoke. "Well, it can't be helped. Koneko, can you follow that boy around? I want to make sure he isn't a threat. To be honest, if he's strong, we may be able to get him in our peerage," the crimson-haired heiress to the Gremory Household requested. "If it is your order, buchou," Koneko stated.
What's up guys, sorry for the long delay! Only one chapter this week. Got a lot of exams, and I'm spending a lot of spare time trying to write this. It's 11:00 PM right now and holy shit I'm so tired.
So you're probably wondering, what was the point of that chapter? Why the whole elementary school thing? I really just want to build Issei's character and take it step by step. I'm trying to make Issei into a carefree yet dominant guy, but also internally conflicted. I think this chapter helped etch that conflict into the reader. I didn't bring up Issei's biological parents at all because these conflicts are intended to be school-related. (Don't worry, Issei will have his revenge on his parents)
The portion with Koneko is just because Issei learned to control his power, so he couldn't be sensed by any devil or fallen angel, so there needed to be some sort of exposition between the Rias' Peerage and Issei. Don't worry, Issei won't become a devil.
SPOILER ALERT FOR THE STORY
For y'all who are mad about what I did to Vali, don't worry. He will be back. Issei needs 1 person who will be able to contend with him. Who better than Vali fucking Lucifer.
Ok Spoilers Ended
