Thanks for inspiring me to show my love for Dragons loud and proud for the whole Internet to see, hiccupandtoothlessforever :D My Original Characters (OCs) Sapphire Aquamarie, the Guardian of Equality (Rise of the Guardians 2) Appearance Mortal: Sapphire has fairly tanned skin, long brown hair and sea blue eyes. She wears a light, blue winter jacket, brown cargo pants and blue winter boots almost throughout the story. In a flashback scene, she wears a black and blue surfer's outfit. Sapphire is slim, and about 1-2 inches shorter than Jack making her fairly tall. Guardian: Upon officially becoming a Guardian, Sapphire's hair is now deep blue in color while her eyes remain the same. She wears a short sleeved turquoise shirt, a knee length seaweed skirt woven with seashells and light blue strappy sandals. Gold bangles adorn both her arms and she has a pearl pin in her hair. Fun fact: One notable accessory Sapphire wears throughout almost the entire story is a pearl necklace with a teardrop shaped sapphire charm that originally belonged to her little sister, Layla. Towards the end of the story, it was revealed that the necklace's charm was the last gem needed to activate the Scepter of Creation's full power. Powers, Abilities and Weapons Water Manipulation, Tide Control and Aquatic Speech Sapphire has the ability to manipulate and bend water at will. This also includes lowering or raising water temperatures based on her emotions. Water turns cold when she's feeling sad or negative and water boils when she gets mad. Along with her Orichalcum Staff, Sapphire also has the ability to control the tides. She also has the gift to talk to any aquatic and water-dwelling animal. Weather Control Rain is influenced by Sapphire's emotions. Expect heavy downpours when she cries. Fighting Skills Sapphire is a mixed martial artist, a black belt in judo, karate and tae kwon do, an expert boxer and great in hand-to-hand combat as well as handy with a dagger and a sword. Her water spirit abilities also enable to create water whips and blasts that are effective in fighting Nightmares. Surfing, Swimming and Snowboarding Having been born and raised in Florida, Sapphire adores the water and swims and surfs whenever she gets the chance. After her family moves to Burgess, she channels her surfing tricks into the snowboard. Orichalcum Dagger After a brief lesson from North, Sapphire is able to wield her dagger like a professional. Towards the end of the story, she is able to transform it into a long sword to fight against Pitch. Scepter of Creation Sapphire is able to use the Scepter's powers to fend off Pitch's Nightmares in the final battle in his underground lair. She also enabled it to transform into a shield once she strengthened her resolve to defeat the Nightmare King. Personality Sapphire is a free spirit with a heart of gold. She's sweet and polite but isn't one to be messed with when she's mad! Sapphire has a really caring personality and loves her family and friends with all her heart. She does, however, lack self-confidence in herself which can sometimes make her an easy target for manipulation thanks to her self-doubt. But Sapphire possesses great courage that enables her to overcome any obstacle. She also believes in balance and that everything in the world must be equal, thus making her center Equality. Relationships Family Parents (Sadie and Joshua Aquamarie): Sapphire loves her Mom and Dad. Both of them are marine biologists and expert surfers and were the ones who taught Sapphire to love the water. Her parents also support her becoming a Guardian as well as her relationship with Jack. Layla: Sapphire is the really close to her younger sister. Losing her in a surfing accident emotionally scarred Sapphire and made her lose her self-confidence in protecting her loved ones. But seeing her again as a nymph makes Sapphire happy once again. Layla's super supportive of her big sister, sometimes maybe a little too supportive especially when it comes to helping her big sister with confessing her feelings to Jack. Donnie: Mischievous as he may be, Donnie adores Sapphire and she is super protective of him. She is willing to sacrifice herself in order to protect him, which she did when the two of them were attacked by Pitch. Guardians Jack Frost Jack is Sapphire's love interest and, at the end of ROTG 2, her boyfriend. After saving Sapphire from Pitch the first time, a budding romance develops between the two of them. When Sapphire is chosen as the next Guardian, Jack stays by her side as she struggles to accept her fate. When Sapphire momentarily betrays him and the other Guardians, Jack is heartbroken but readily forgives Sapphire once she returns. Jack truly loves Sapphire and this is proven when he sacrifices himself to save her from Pitch's Forbidden Dagger. Sapphire mourns his death but then revives him with her tear and the Scepter of Creation's sixth gem. The two of them kiss at the end, thus officially becoming a couple. North Sapphire greatly respects the Guardian of Wonder and looks up to him as a "Crazy cool Russian Grandfather who is also the World's Coolest Toymaker Ever". North is also the one who shows her how to fight with her dagger and inspires Sapphire to find her center. Bunny While she has a healthy amount of respect for Bunny, Sapphire loves to annoy him with her antics, one example is agreeing with Jack that he looks like a kangaroo. Bunny sometimes refers to her as 'Jack's Twin' due to her mischievous nature and stubborn attitude sometimes. But Bunny also has a lot of respect for her due to her hopeful outlook in life as well as her fighting skills. Tooth Sapphire sees Tooth as a sister but is sometimes a little unnerved by her overly bubbly personality and obsession with teeth. When Tooth learns of her crush on Jack, Sapphire receives some rather unusual advice from her. Tooth mostly uses teeth references to help Sapphire with admitting her feelings to Jack which she doesn't quite understand. Baby Tooth Sapphire really likes Baby Tooth and Baby Tooth really likes her as well. But Sapphire did find it a little annoying when she tried to tell the Guardians about her secret crush on Jack. Mother Nature, Father Time and Millennium Sapphire has nothing but high regard and deep respect for them. In the end, Mother Nature and Father Time take her in as their stepdaughter when she officially becomes a Guardian. Millennium also has a deep regard for Sapphire, who sees him as a wise owl. Marina the Swan After Sapphire saves her from Pitch's Fearlings, Marina officially becomes her trusty partner. Sapphire also becomes Marina's official Rider. Layla, Sapphire's younger sister, was originally her handler but nobody had ever come close to riding Marina until Sapphire came along. The two are shown to be very close like sisters. The Woman She came to Sapphire in her most desperate hour of need when she needed help in saving the Guardians from Pitch. Sapphire usually calls the Woman Her or She and it's shown that the Woman cares for her very much. In the end, Sapphire identifies the Woman as Sandy's wife. Trivia Sapphire is the eldest among 3 siblings She and Layla closely resemble each other. The difference between the two is that Sapphire has long hair, sea blue eyes and no freckles while Layla has short hair, blue green eyes and has light freckles on her nose Sapphire has already been able to swim at the age of 3 and learned how to surf when she was only 5 She strictly refuses to eat seafood but enjoys algae and seaweed Sapphire's 2 greatest fears are losing her loved ones and thunder and lightning She knows how to play piano. Two songs she plays in the story are "Just A Dream" (Piano Instrumental) with Layla and "A Thousand Years Part 2" with Jack Sapphire is mildly claustrophobic but she is mostly astrophobic (phobia of thunder and lightning) Zenna Arrowhead Fiersome (How to Train Your Dragon) PS: This profile has been updated to accommodate crucial changes made for my new story "The Inventor, the Healer, and the Fallen Prince." Appearance How to Train Your Dragon: Zenna has fair skin, striking violet eyes and black hair she usually ties back into a messy ponytail. She is about 2 inches taller than Hiccup and of the same lean build as Astrid. Zenna's signature colors are purple and violet. She wears a purple ponytail in her hair and her violet eyes are what set her apart from everyone on Berk. She wears a violet choker-like cloth band around her neck along with a silver pendant. Her usual outfit consists of a sleeveless lavender tunic paired with a brown fur vest. Violet cloth strips are tied around her biceps while her forearms are wrapped with black cloth with red leather elbow pads. She also wears a brown leather skirt with a red sash tied around her waist and black leggings and brown fur boots. She also keeps her battle sticks strapped to her back almost all the time since they are her weapons of choice. At the end of the first film, Zenna loses her right eye and wears a black eye patch on the right side of her face. How to Train Your Dragon 2: Zenna's appearance has changed over the five years. Her black hair is now longer and has been cut into a more neat, feminine look with neat bangs she usually brushes over her ear. Her eye patch, which she received from Hiccup during "Gift of the Night Furies" is made of the strongest black leather with a glossy finish and has the emblem of the Berk Dragon Training Academy stitched on it. She wears a white coat that she wears on duty as the Dragon Doctor (her outfit greatly resembles Heather's outfit in School of Dragons - check it out). As always, Zenna wears her lucky silver pendant. It's in the second film that we discover that the pendant had been given to her by her childhood sweetheart, Eret, Son of Eret. Zenna also wears a flight suit similar to Hiccup, the differences being that it's fashioned in a feminine way and her dragon pin and pop-up fin are both colored violet. Powers, Abilities and Weapons Battle Sticks The battle sticks originally belonged to Zenna's older brother, Elias, and were passed on to her upon his death. Zenna is shown to be a dedicated practitioner of her combat, being able to wield the battle sticks expertly and with ease. In Defenders of Berk, The Iron Gronckle, her sticks nearly break due to having been used for so long. Luckily Fishlegs finds a solution to preserve Zenna's battle sticks as well as reinforce them by using Gronckle Iron. Zenna almost always has her sticks strapped to her back in case the need to suddenly engage in combat arises. Hand-to-hand Combat Zenna is a capable fighter, having been trained by her father from a young age. Notable incidents where she shows off her fighting prowess are when she easily takes down Snotlout in training during "Gem of a Different Color" as well as fighting Dagur to protect Hiccup in "The Night and the Fury" as well as engaging Drago in combat when he tried to leave the Dragon Sanctuary after killing Stoick. Dragon Training and Riding While she originally fought the dragons in the first film, Zenna always had a deep sense of respect toward the dragons and often wondered, like her brother, if it was possible to tame and train them. She later proves this hypothesis to be true along with Hiccup when they befriend Toothless and Stryka. As a Dragon Trainer, Zenna is able to calm down enraged dragons long enough for her and Hiccup to train it. As a Dragon Rider, she and Stryka are the best fliers alongside Hiccup and Toothless among all the Dragon Riders. Intelligence and Medical Knowledge Zenna is well-learned and a book lover like Fishlegs. While she isn't as brilliant as Hiccup when it comes to inventing, she knows far more about the natural world. Her knowledge about the lightning-attracting properties of metal proved to be useful in proving her, Toothless and Stryka's innocence in "When Lightning Strikes." She is also familiar with magnetism as shown in "The Iron Gronckle." But it is her medical knowledge that is highly valued in Berk. Having been apprenticed both in her old village in Lapland and in Berk, Zenna has a vast knowledge about medicine and is able to create various brews, creams, salves and tonics that have been known to cure several illnesses. She specializes in both humans and dragons, earning her the title "Dragon Doctor" in HTTYD 2. Personality Zenna may be sweet and caring but that doesn't mean she's a pushover. She marches to the beat of her own drum, never thinking much about how other people think of her as weird, and stands up for what she believes in. She's also fluent in the art of making sarcastic comebacks, especially when she sees Hiccup being picked on. Zenna is also extremely loyal to whomever she deems to be worthy of her trust, which is strongly shown in her unwavering loyalty to Hiccup. Zenna is also crafty and capable of charming people into doing her bidding, showing her cunning and mischievous side. But she is also stubborn and sometimes has a hard time forgetting a grudge or any traumatic event that had happened in the past, examples are her brother's death and Dagur trying to take advantage of her in "Cast Out Part II." However, Zenna remains optimistic and sees the brighter side of things despite any situation. Her kind nature and deep sense of compassion is what makes her a very popular person on Berk. She is also somewhat of a romantic since she had easily fallen head-over-heels in love with Eret at first sight when she was only four. While she may have some flaws, Zenna is a woman of indomitable spirit, a warrior with courage and valor of a Valkyrie and is a kindhearted soul who is willing to do whatever it takes to protect the ones she loves. Relationships Family Parents (Edgar and Henna Fiersome): Zenna loves her father and mother immensely and is an obedient daughter to them. Edgar fondly calls her "precious little gemstone" while Henna is very supportive of her choosing to become a doctor. The three of them are shown to be very close, riding their dragons together and laughing together as they share stories and jokes by the light of the fire. Elias (Older Brother): Zenna had been very close to her big brother and the two were always seen together no matter where they went. Elias had been Zenna's first teacher in almost everything, especially in fighting with battle sticks and, back when Berk still fought dragons, had taught Zenna everything he had learned in Dragon Training. After Elias died in a dragon raid when she was 12, Zenna became severely depressed and nearly committed suicide to reunite with Elias but, thankfully, was saved by Hiccup. Elias often visits Zenna in her dreams where he offers sagely advice, most notably when he warned Zenna about being careful of the path she and Hiccup had taken when they both bonded with Toothless and Stryka in the first film as well as telling Zenna to give Eret a chance after he had seemingly betrayed her during the second film. Elias II Stoick Fiersome (Younger Brother): Zenna adores her baby brother, who had been born with eyes the exact same shade of violet as hers, and does whatever she could to give him a wonderful life. The two are often seen playing together with Stryka and Serpent and Serpentine. Serpent and Serpentine (Edgar and Henna's Hideous Zippleback): While not as close to her parents' dragon as she is to Stryka, Zenna gets along great with Serpent and Serpentine, having approved her parents' decision of adopting him when they had found him abandoned during "Gift of the Night Furies" and plays with him every now and then. Stryka: Stryka is essentially Zenna's draconian sister and best dragon friend in the whole wide world. Zenna loves Stryka very much and is willing to even sacrifice herself to keep Stryka safe and vice versa. Both Zenna and Stryka lose their right eyes in the first film, which makes them closer than ever. Zenna often spends her time playing and flying with Stryka and they always help each other out in times of need. Inspired to communicate better with her best friend, Stryka teaches herself human speech which she reveals to Zenna in "Gift of the Night Furies." In "What Flies Beneath" Zenna finds out that Stryka's old name was "Erika" and discovered more about her past. Stryka is Zenna's other half and, when the two are separated, they feel an intense longing to be back together. In HTTYD 2, Stryka, along with Toothless, succumbs to the control of Drago's Dark Bewilderbeast and is forced to kill Zenna only to shoot Stoick (who had pushed Zenna and Hiccup out of the blast zone) instead. Unlike Hiccup, who angrily drives Toothless away, Zenna does not blame Stryka for Stoick's death and is clearly distressed when she is taken away from her. In the end of the second film, Zenna manages to snap Stryka out of the Alpha's control and they fight alongside Hiccup and Toothless, winning when Toothless and Stryka fire their charged up plasma blasts at the Dark Bewilderbeast thus severing its left tusk, and Zenna celebrates as Stryka becomes an Alpha alongside Toothless. Friends Hiccup Ever since they first met when they were seven-years old, Hiccup and Zenna have been inseparable. The two of them are often seen together in the village, getting into all sorts of adventures. Elias had also been a common member of their little group, The Three Weirdos, and they grew up together facing whatever the world threw at them and always having each other's backs. When Elias died and Zenna slipped into depression Hiccup became a brother figure to Zenna, protecting her from the likes of Haggard the Cutthroat and his gang and saving her life when she tried to commit suicide. It's also noted in several episodes that Hiccup is extremely overprotective of Zenna, often showing a more violent and intimidating, even terrifying, side of himself when he feels that Zenna is being offended or when he sees her getting hurt. As scary as this side of Hiccup is, it shows his unwavering devotion to Zenna. Hiccup greatly loves her, but not in a romantic sense as some villagers once thought. In "Coming Back From Pain," Hiccup is shown to be very affectionate towards Zenna, often hugging and kissing her on the cheek. Later, they both decide not to enter a relationship for fear that they could lose their friendship if it doesn't work out. Nevertheless Hiccup is still very affectionate towards Zenna, singing "Into A Fantasy" with her on their Friendaversary. In the first film, Zenna has become Hiccup's sole best friend and most steadfast follower. She is clearly annoyed by Snotlout and the Twins bullying him and even goes so far as to threatening them with death if they harass Hiccup again while she's around. While she sometimes views Hiccup's ideas as crazy, Zenna is always right behind (or, more often than most, beside) Hiccup and supports him no matter what. Upon befriending Toothless and Stryka, the two of them set out to stop the war between the dragons and Vikings of Berk. In the end, Hiccup loses part of his left leg, making him equal to Toothless while both Zenna and Stryka lose their right eyes. But their sacrifices have not been in vain for they have defeated the Red Death and Berk is finally at peace with the dragons. Due to this, Hiccup and Zenna are now considered the Hero and Heroine of Berk as well as the first two original Dragon Trainers. In Riders and Defenders of Berk, Hiccup and Zenna are still seen to be extremely close, the latter sometimes playfully teasing the former when she catches him and Astrid making out. This is also where Hiccup shows his overprotective side, especially when an Outcast touched Zenna's waist, Alvin grabbed her by the hair, and finding out that Dagur had tried to take advantage of her. When Hiccup goes into 'Overprotective Brother Mode', he can be absolutely terrifying, often snarling with hatred at whoever tries to harm Zenna. This is also where we see that Zenna's abilities as a healer are now highly advanced and in "Dragon Flower" it's shown that she has accepted an offer to study at Hippocrates' School of Medicine at Kos, Greece without telling anyone. The only one who has vague knowledge about her studying to become a doctor is Tuffnut, who, from "What Flies Beneath" in Riders all the way to "Zippleback Down" in Defenders, is revealed to have a crush on the one-eyed Fiersome girl. Zenna and Hiccup are still as close as ever in HTTYD 2. While she's not busy tending to patients, Zenna is often with Stryka and exploring lands beyond Berk with Hiccup and Toothless. While Hiccup lacks the self-confidence to accept the title as Chief, Zenna believes in Hiccup and knows, from what Stoick had told her the night she and Stryka came back, that Hiccup is more than cut out for the role. She remains loyal and steadfast to Hiccup, accompanying him to talk sense into Drago (although she believes that it could be a bad idea and, for the record, also wanted to get away from Eret after he refused to even so much as look at her when she tried to help him) before they are both captured by the Dragon Thief who turns out to be Hiccup's long lost mother, Valka. When Drago attacks the Sanctuary, she and Hiccup both try to talk some sense into him but fail. And when Drago commands his Dark Bewilderbeast to take control of Toothless and Stryka, Zenna and Hiccup are both faced with imminent death only to be saved by Stoick who sacrifices himself and gets hit by the blasts instead. Zenna is visibly distraught when Toothless and Stryka are taken, breaking Hiccup's spirit and stays by his side at Stoick's funeral as Gobber eulogizes the fallen Chief. When the funeral is over and Hiccup says that they're going back, he and Zenna stay behind for a bit. Here, Zenna reveals to Hiccup that Stoick had talked to her the night she came back to Berk and says that Stoick knows that Hiccup will become the greatest Chief Berk will ever know and that he has surpassed his father's expectations and more. Zenna then pledges her loyalty to Hiccup who, in turn, helps her gain the confidence to patch things up with Eret. In the battle with Drago and the Dark Bewilderbeast, Hiccup and Zenna are bot encased in ice. Within the ice, thinking that they are about to die, Hiccup and Zenna communicate telepathically with each other for a moment before Toothless and Stryka enter Titan Mode. Together they defeat Drago and his Dark Bewilderbeast. Like everyone else, Zenna celebrates as Hiccup is crowned as the new Chief of Berk. From the two of them always saying, "Okay?; Okay," to each other to always having each other's backs, it's easy to see that Hiccup and Zenna's friendship is as strong as their bond to their Night Furies. Due to being so close to each other, they now refer to each other as brother and sister and are, indeed, siblings not by blood but by bond. Eret, Son of Eret Eret is Zenna's childhood sweetheart and, at the end of HTTYD 2, boyfriend. When Zenna was 4 years old, she got caught in a rope snare Eret had set up to originally catch a wild rabbit while she was off picking flowers in the forest. Eret and Elias found her a few hours later and it was instant love-at-first-sight for Eret and Zenna. The two of them soon begin to spend almost every waking moment together, playing in the forest with the wolves and training together in their village. Zenna has a great deal of admiration for Eret, who is from a poor family but does what he can to survive with his father and really cares about him. One notable event in their relationship is when Eret introduces Zenna to the wolves living in the nearby forest of their village in Lapland. Eret is also shown to be very caring towards Zenna when she came back to the village from the woods, limping and bruised all over and takes care of her. Turns out Zenna had been in a fight with some of the older girls in the village who were jealous of her closeness to Eret. Zenna, ashamed at having been beaten in a fight, admits to Eret that it would be better for him to go be with kids his age instead of always following an immature baby like her. Eret then tells her that, compared to all the children in the entire village, she's one of the most mature people he had ever met. Their childhood love affair is purely innocent as they are seen just playing together and helping each other with chores. Eret is usually very shy around Zenna while she's more outgoing. Most of the time, they spent their time together in the forest, playing and drawing the many animals and plants found there. When Eret is around 11 years old, a powerful earthquake occurs in their village. When he and his group of trainees go into the forest to search for any civilians, Elias hears Zenna's screams for help and goes off to find her. Eret follows Zenna's older brother to a cliff where he finds Zenna. That's when Eret finds out that Zenna is afraid of heights, he saves her when an aftershock happens and, while they're dangling over the cliff, promises to help Zenna get over her fear. That leads them to spending 2 months of climbing the Sky Giant, the tallest tree growing in their village, and succeed. When Zenna is seven-years old, she and her family have to leave Lapland. A day before she has to leave, Zenna and Eret spend as much time together as they can. On the day the Fiersomes leave, Zenna and Eret share their first kiss. Here Zenna also gives Eret the Stormcutter pin while he, in return, gives Zenna the old silver pendant which previously belonged to his mother, Elisabeth. As Zenna's boat sails away, Eret shouts out to Zenna that he will come find her and that she just had to wait for him. Zenna hears this and shouts back that she'll wait for him forever. Eret, however, is unable to fulfill his promise due to being forced to work for Drago Bludvist when he's 14. Already traumatized by watching Drago murder his father, Eret nearly forgets about Zenna in the following years. When Drago gives him the brand on his chest, Eret is overcome with despair and tries to commit suicide by jumping overboard when his ship sails into a dark tunnel. A miracle then occurs when light shines through a small crack and hits Eret's Stormcutter pin, prompting Eret to remember Zenna and the promise he had made to her. This is enough to make Eret come back to his senses and not contemplate suicide again. In HTTYD 2, Eret reunites with Zenna but is shocked to find out that she is now a Dragon Rider. Zenna is also shocked to learn that Eret is now a dragon trapper but still believes that Eret is good at heart. However, in order to protect Zenna from Drago, Eret tries to get as far away from her as possible only to be found by her again. Zenna then tries to convince Eret that she could help him but only receives silence from him. Heartbroken, Zenna leaves with Hiccup. Eret, after the other Dragon Riders, Stoick, Gobber and Zenna's parents leave, retreats below deck where he breaks down in tears, heavily regretting having pushed Zenna away. Later he gets kidnapped by Astrid and is forced to guide them to Drago's camp. There, Drago learns about Zenna and, out of pure spite, threatens Eret that he will let him see Zenna again...and later make him watch as Drago kills her. This greatly angers Eret, as he is seen trying to attack Drago while shouting curses at his boss. When he helps the Riders escape along with their dragons, he learns from Ruffnut about the truth behind Hiccup and Zenna's relationship. Later at the battle of the two Bewilderbeast, Eret saves Zenna when she is knocked off of Stryka's back and another time when Drago tries to strangle her after she angrily attacks Drago when he kills Stoick. After Stoick's funeral, the two are left alone to sort things out. Eret begins to cry again due to the intense guilt and shame he feels for leaving Zenna. Luckily Zenna comforts him and reassures him that he still has her. The two then make up and they share their second kiss, which is witnessed by everyone else. Back on Berk, Eret fights against Drago alongside the Dragon Riders and rejoices with everyone when Hiccup and Zenna defeat the madman. After the battle, he and Zenna have their third kiss, thus officially starting their relationship as boyfriend and girlfriend. Zenna and Eret are both comfortable in showing their relationship in public. While they don't always kiss in public, they often hold hands and are known to be having good, casual conversations and flying dragons together. However Eret spends his first two months as a Berkian under suspicion of the villagers, who still suspect him of being affiliated with Drago. This causes Eret to slip into depression where he resorts to cutting in order to combat his emotional pain with physical pain. This greatly worries Zenna and she begs Eret to stop but is unable to. When Eret finally starts to think about death, Zenna implores Hiccup to go talk to him since it could be easier for Eret to talk to another guy. After finding out about Eret's horrible past life and later finding a journal Eret kept when he was still working for Drago detailing the abuse he had suffered, Zenna rallies her friends and family together to help her put Eret back together. During this time, Eret was prone to emotional outbursts and once yelled at Zenna to just leave him alone. This does not stop Zenna from staying by Eret's side during this stormy time. While recovering from depression, Eret tearfully confesses that Zenna is now the only thing he has left from his past happy life and he doesn't want to lose her as well. Zenna embraces him and promises that she will never leave him. When Eret finally comes forward to the entire village about his past and apologizes for everything he ever did, Zenna is the first to come to his defense when some villagers voice out their suspicions. Eret thanks Zenna and tells her that he hopes that he can still find the good in him in order to get his life back and be truly happy again. Zenna smiles, kisses him and tells Eret that he's always been a good person no matter what. From these hard times, their relationship has grown stronger. Zenna is also willing to risk her own life for Eret's sake, as seen in "Thin Ice" where she was nearly killed by Dragon Eaters while getting the Frost Ivy to cure him when he was dying from pneumonia. Eret is also extremely protective of Zenna, especially when she is being threatened by someone. In "A Page From My Diary", it was revealed that some drunkard tried to lay his hands on Zenna and that resulted in Eret giving him a black eye and a bloody nose. Contrary to his normally charming and cocky personality, Eret shows a more shy and klutzy side of himself that only Zenna can bring out whenever they're together. It later becomes clear that Eret has a soft, sweet and sensitive side when it comes to Zenna, something that his friends never fail to point out and make fun of. Eret and Zenna's relationship is a true testament to being unhindered by separation and distance. Their love has only grown stronger in the past 12 years of being apart and continues to grow stronger with each passing day. Eret loves Zenna, his goddess, princess and everything, with all his heart and soul and Zenna loves him right back. Heather Heather is Zenna's childhood friend from Lapland. While Zenna suspected, and later confirmed, that Heather was up to something during the events of "Heather Report Parts I and II", the two are still very good friends. Heather used to be courted by Elias, one of the more persistent boys in their village back then, and also knew of Eret and Zenna's budding childhood romance. At the end of "Heather Report Part II," Heather gives Zenna a letter Eret had written for her when he left Lapland a year after her and Zenna is very grateful. The two hug before Heather leaves to go back to Lapland with her parents. Stoick the Vast It is hinted that Zenna harbored some resentment towards Stoick due to him neglecting Hiccup for so long. She was also quick to get angry at Stoick when he disowned Hiccup, yelling at him that even though he was a good Chief, he was a horrible father. When Stoick finally apologizes to Hiccup and tells him that he is proud to call him his son during the battle with the Red Death, Zenna decides to forgive him. Since then, Zenna regards Stoick highly but is still willing to defy his orders because her loyalty to Hiccup is stronger. Stoick also considers Zenna to be like a daughter to him and, during HTTYD 2, lets her call him Uncle. Zenna is visibly distraught when Stoick is killed by Drago later in the film and fulfills his last wish by telling Hiccup that his father had always believed that he would be a far greater Chief than Stoick ever was and that he had exceeded all of his father's expectations and more as well as pledging allegiance to Hiccup. Valka Zenna is quick to become friends with Valka, who at first thought Zenna was Hiccup's girlfriend, and becomes close to her. Valka greatly admires Zenna knowledge in medicine, especially when the latter helps treat some of the injured dragons in the Sanctuary. Incidentally, Zenna had met Cloudjumper, Valka's Stormcutter, when she was eight and had run away to avoid moving away from the South. Valka had been chased into the woods due to the territorial wolves and had seen Zenna easily calm the wolves down. This led her to calling Zenna "Little Hope" in hopes of a future where dragons and humans could live togehter in peace. Zenna also calls Valka "Auntie" and Valka considers Zenna as her daughter. Valka is also very motherly towards Zenna as seen in when she told Zenna about witnessing the murder of Eret's father and advises her to follow her heart. Gobber the Belch Zenna is good friends with the village blacksmith and hangs out with Hiccup at the forge often where she and Gobber can have a chat. She also helps Gobber in the Dragon Armory by treating dragons with injuries while Gobber works as the dentist. Astrid Hofferson Astrid often tried to compete with Zenna out of jealousy because the Fiersome girl was one of the most promising warriors in Berk. Zenna is not the slightest bit intimidated with Astrid and even chides her when she offends Hiccup, coolly offering Astrid advice to not underestimate Hiccup. After Hiccup convinces Astrid that dragons aren't bad, Zenna starts teasing her and Hiccup about their relationship and always finds an opportunity to tease them whenever she catches them making out. Nevertheless, Zenna and Astrid have grown to be good friends and even battle sisters. Snotlout Jorgenson While Zenna often gets annoyed by Snotlout making fun of Hiccup and his stupidity, she shows a degree of sympathy towards him when Hookfang loses his ability to flame up during the events of "Race to Fireworm Island" and helps him in keeping Hookfang comfortable. Snotlout is also shown to care about Zenna, especially when she, along with Toothless and Stryka, are blamed for invoking Thor's wrath, commanding Hookfang to chase off some village brats jeering Zenna while they are building Thor a statue. Fishlegs Ingerman Zenna often sympathizes with Fishlegs whenever he's teased due to his intelligence. The two might not be close but they are shown to be good friends and fellow scholars and lovers of learning. Ruffnut Thorston While she is sometimes annoyed to the point of exasperation with Ruffnut's stupidity, Zenna sees her as a good friend and admires her for refusing to abandon Scauldy when everyone else had given up during "Free Scauldy". She was, however, livid when Ruffnut fell for Eret but they've gone past that when Ruffnut sees that Eret only has eyes for Zenna and they remain good friends. Tuffnut Thorston In "What Flies Beneath", Tuffnut shows signs of having a crush on Zenna. During "Defiant One", Tuffnut admits to the other Riders, save for Hiccup and Snotlout, that he's had a crush on Zenna since they were 10-years old. Throughout the rest of Riders of Berk, Tuffnut is shown to try show his affections towards Zenna by walking her home sometimes and even baking her chocolate cookies. Zenna seems to be oblivious to the fact that Tuffnut likes her until "Zippleback Down" where she and Tuffnut end up getting caught in a Netter trap together and Tuffnut confesses to Zenna that he likes her. While flattered, Zenna lets him down easy, saying that she isn't exactly ready to have a boyfriend and nearly tells Tuffnut about Eret. Tuffnut is disappointed but still remains good friends with her. At the end of the episode, Zenna gives Tuffnut a kiss on the cheek as thanks for keeping her company and making her laugh during the time they were trapped together. Trivia Zenna knows how to play the lute She is ambidextrous but prefers to write with her left hand Zenna was once admitted to Gothi's hut due to food poisoning when Dagur slipped poison ivy into her herb tea during the one picnic she agreed to go to with him, making Hiccup hate him even more and promise to poison Dagur with something stronger the next time something like that happened Zenna once saw Gobber and Mildew's unmentionables in "Dragon Flower" Zenna seems to have a highly acute sense of smell. Her favorite scents are cinnamon, sea salt and lavender Zenna has a mild skin allergy to thistles and will develop a rash when a sprig brushes against her skin According to Eret, Zenna won the title of "Junior Queen of Survival" three years in a row when she lived in Lapland She is a chocoholic, rumored to have finished two whole boxes of chocolate in one sitting Like Hiccup, Zenna is also capable of speaking foreign languages - notably Greek and Saxon English MUSIC FOR MY SHIPS :D It's no secret that I'm a music lover. In fact, music is what helps me write. Here's a list of songs I think match perfectly well for my favorite movie characters. It will be categorized based on couple and some will have lyrics while some may not. It will also include an explanation as to why I think they match each character perfectly. NOTE: I DO NOT OWN ANY OF THE SONGS HERE! Rise of the Guardians 2 1. Touch the Sky by Julie Fowlis from Brave OST - song can be heard while Marina is giving Sapphire a tour of Mother Nature and Father Time's realm 2. Into the Open Air by Julie Fowlis from Brave OST - heard when Sapphire is giving Jack swimming lessons in Florida and Jack later teaches her how to ice skate 3. Noble Maiden Fair (Mhaighdean Bhan Uasal) from Brave OST - played when Sapphire is mourning Jack's death 4. The Sound of Sunshine by Michael Franti & Spearhead - this song plays when Layla and Sapphire return to their old home in Florida 5. A Thousand Years Part II by Christina Perri ft. Steve Kazee -one of the songs Sapphire plays on the piano with Jack during the Burgess Colonial Times Festival 6. Kingdom Dance from Tangled OST - Sapphire and Jack dance to this during the Burgess Colonial Times Festival 7. Just a Dream (Piano Instrumental) - first song Sapphire plays in the story at Tooth's Tooth Palace 8. Make it in America by Victoria Justice - heard when Sapphire and Layla go surfing with the "Florida Five-O" 9. Learn Me Right by Birdy ft. Mumford and Sons - played during the last chapter of the story. 10. What If the Storm Ends? by Snow Patrol - played during the scene where Sapphire tests her powers out for the first time. Jack and Sapphire (ICE WATER pairing ;)) 1. Be Okay by Oh Honey 2. Shooting Star by Owl City 3. For the Dancing and the Dreaming by John Powell (shared with Hiccstrid) 4. Hurricane by Bridgit Mendler (shared with Hiccstrid) 5. Somebody to You by the Vamps (shared with Hiccstrid and Zeret) 6. Tokyo by Owl City ft. SEKAI NO OWARI - suggested by anjielsu. Listened to it and I liked it :) 7. Good Time by Owl City ft. Carly Rae Jepsen 8. Here's to Never Growing Up by Avril Lavigne - title is pretty self-explanatory :D They're Guardians so...they never grow up ;) How to Train Your Dragon and How to Train Your Dragon 2 Hiccup and Zenna (JUST FRIENDS. THIS IS NOT A PAIRING) 1. Friends for Life by One Flew South from The Fox and the Hound 2 OST This song is tons of fun to listen to. Every time I hear it, I can imagine Hiccup and Zenna running around the village as kids along with Elias, Zenna's older brother. 2. Into A Fantasy by Alexander Rybak Hiccup and Zenna sang this song in a duet during the last chapter of Coming Back From Pain 3. Only You Can Be You by Cymphonique Only you can be you And only I can be me You always wanna be what you're not Can't you be happy with what you've got? You're perfect the way you are With your insecurities, doubts and scars Life's too short to worry Don't you know it's true Only you can be you (you can be you) And I can be me (I can be me) Only you can be you (you can be you) And I can be me (I can be me) This is Zenna telling Hiccup that she likes him for who he is and he doesn't need to be somebody else because he's totally unique. This is kind of like her encouraging Hiccup to stay true to himself. 4. Wunderkind from Narnia OST - this is the song Hiccup and Zenna dance to during Zenna's 16th birthday. See "Happy Birthday, Zenna!" for reference. 5. Iris by Goo Goo Dolls - theme song of "I'll Let You Go If You Let Me Go", a future story I'll be working on in the future, that chronicles Hiccup and Zenna's challenge of keeping their friendship intact when Zenna soon has to leave for medical training in Greece. 6. Forever Young by Sam Concepcion - proud to say that this song sung by a Filipino singer (OPM :D) is Hiccup's serenade to Zenna. He sings it to her the night before she leaves for Greece and sings it again after 3 years of her being gone from Berk. 7. All of the Stars - This is the song where I got inspiration, alongside M83's "Wait", for my story "Two Years and Six Months" 8. These Times by Safetysuit - this is a song for Hiccup and Zenna while they're grieving the death of Elias. 9. Long Live by Taylor Swift Hiccup and Astrid (HICCSTRID) 1. Heart Attack by Demi Lovato 2. Salvation by Gabrielle Aplin (shared with Zenna and Eret) 3. Really Don't Care by Demi Lovato (shared with Zenna and Eret) 4. For the Dancing and the Dreaming by John Powell (shared with Ice Water) 5. Boats and Birds by Gregory and the Hawk (shared with Zeret) 6. Crazier by Taylor Swift 7. Honestly just search "Hiccup and Astrid" or "Astrid and Hiccup" on YouTube and almost every song included in there is Hiccstrid perfect ;D Zenna and Eret (ZERET/ZENRET) 1. What I Wouldn't Do by A Fine Frenzy 2. Salvation by Gabrielle Aplin (shared with HICCSTRID) - played during important events in their childhood 3. Really Don't Care by Demi Lovato (shared with HICCSTRID) 4. A Thousand Miles (Male Version) sung by David Archuleta - Eret sings this once shortly before the events of HTTYD 2 5. I Wish You Were Here by Avril Lavigne - Zenna sings this on the anniversary she and Eret said their goodbyes when she left Berk. 6. Say Something by A Great Big World - I almost wrote a scene for HTTYD 2 where Zenna and Eret sang this from two different locations. Zenna at the Dragon Sanctuary; Eret while he's imprisoned with the other Riders at Drago's camp. 7. Scarecrow by Alex & Sienna - Zenna and Eret sing this during a Halloween special, which I had to delete due to being warned about copying song lyrics into my stories...It was a pretty good one-shot, though... 8. Find You There by We the Kings I’m all alone Holding on to memories while you’re moving on Let me take you back to when we first said goodbye 'cause I need you I try because all that I can do is hope that love's enough To pull you close enough to hold you, I’ll close my eyes And I see you Even when the sky falls and I’ve lost it all I know I will find you there Even when my heart stops I’ll keep looking 'cause I know I will find you there You know I will find you I'll find you I will find you there You know I will find you I'll find you I will find you there So tell me why Why you want a world between us Let me try I know you know this time I mean it Say you still care and you need me So where’d you go Something in your voice, it says you're not alone Do you remember when I said I’d always be there Believe me Even when the sky falls and I’ve lost it all I know I will find you there Even when my heart stops I’ll keep looking 'cause I know I will find you there You know I will find you I'll find you I will find you there You know I will find you I'll find you I will find you there We’re timeless, we're fearless, we're all we've got, We're brilliant, we're broken, we’re burning on Even when the sky falls and I’ve lost it all I know I will find you there Even when my heart stops I’ll keep looking 'cause I know I will find you there You know I will find you I'll find you I will find you there You know I will find you I'll find you I will find you there Even when the sky falls and I’ve lost it all I know I will find you there Even when my heart stops I’ll keep looking 'cause I know I will find you there You know I will find you I'll find you I will find you there You know I will find you I'll find you I will find you there By far, what I think is the PERFECT song for Eret and Zenna. The first stanza is in Eret's POV, symbolizing how much he missed Zenna the 12 years they were apart and his determination to find her again. The second stanza is Zenna's POV, where she is trying to understand why Eret is pushing her away (refer to Chapter 5: Shattered Hearts of my HTTYD 2 story) while trying to show him that she still loves him. The bridge basically fits them to a T. "We're timeless"-their relationship has survived the tests of both time and distance. "We're fearless"-they're not afraid to risk it all for each other's sake. "We're all we've got"-for Eret, Zenna's the only thing left from his past, happy life before Drago came along and killed his father. "We're brilliant"-together, Eret and Zenna make quite a great team. "We're broken"-this applies to both Eret and Zenna. They've seen some pretty bad things in their life, have both suffered the loss of loved ones and they both have physical scars from the past. And, in the end, they both know that they both have their flaws both in themselves and to each other. "We're burning on"-but no matter what, they stay together :) 10. Brave Souls by Cozi Zuehlsdorff - all I gotta say is that this is also a beautiful song representing Zenna and Eret's relationship. 11. Ships in the Night by Matt Kearney - planning on using this for my HTTYD/BH6 Crossover ;) 12. Embers by Owl City -the first stanza reflects the hard times Eret goes true when he's adjusting to his new life on Berk. As for the rest of the song, it shows that Eret's "fire" comes from Zenna. Listen to this song and you'll know what I mean :) 13. Give Your Heart A Break by Demi Lovato - Zenna's song to Eret as she helps him recover from depression 14. I'll See You Again by Carrie Underwood 15. They Don't Know About Us by One Direction - sums up their previously unknown relationship 16. Can't Stop Dancing by Becky G - just feels like a really fun song for them :) 17. Trouble by Iggy Azalea ft. Jennifer Hudson - is it just me or does Zenna always go for the bad boy types? XD 18. Ends of the Earth by Lord Huron - thinking of using this as the background music for one of my new chapters to "The Little Things They Don't Know About Us" soon ;) Special (Hiccup, Zenna, Eret) You Got Me by Gavin DeGraw - this I consider as a major theme for HTTYD: Frozen Fire. It shows that both Hiccup and Eret love Zenna very much and will do everything they can to protect her, even at the cost of their own lives. There are two loves in this world...the love of a brother for his sister...and the love of a husband for his wife. Songs by Characters SAPPHIRE AQUAMARIE 1. Walk on Water by Britt Nicole 2. This Song Saved My Life by Simple Plan 3. Live Like a Warrior by Matisyahu (shared with Jack Frost) 4. It's Your Life by Francesca Battistelli ZENNA FIERSOME 1. She's So Gone by Naomi Scott - Zenna's transition to who she is over the years 2. Who I'm Gonna Be by Coco Jones - This song especially fits her when she's preparing to leave Berk in order to travel out into the world in pursuit of her dreams of becoming a doctor 3. Uncharted by Sara Bareilles - When she first arrives in Greece, Zenna immediately stands out from everyone else and now, with Stryka, has to navigate her way through uncharted territory, both in Greece and in life 4. Spread My Wings by Kathryn Ostenberg - Zenna's empowerment song as a child 5. Let it Go (Demi Lovato Version) from FROZEN - sung by Zenna in HTTYD: Frozen Fire 6. Float by KT Tunstall - I like to think of this as her song growing up as a child in the South STRYKA 1. Don't Push Me by Coco Jones - don't push Stryka. You'll regret it. 2. Shut Up N' Drive by Rihanna - shows more of her badass dragon side. 3. Strange Sight by KT Tunstall - Stryka shares this song with Toothless. Kind of resonates how her friendship with Zenna first started. Listen to these songs while either imagining my ships together or reading my stories. You shall not be disappointed ;D BONUS: How My Characters Came to Be and My Concepts for Them This delves into how I created my OCs, from their personality up to their background. Sapphire Aquamarie (ROTG) After I was re-introduced to DreamWorks Animation by my best friend, the first DreamWorks film I really fell in love with was Rise of the Guardians. After watching the movie again and again, the idea of making a sequel started getting into my head. Then, in late 2012, I started writing the first draft of my first ever fanfic...in a notebook. Writing the manuscript by hand wasn't easy and took me about 10 MONTHS and typing it out...well, a bit less time-consuming XD But that's how I roll. I write the stories by hand first before typing them on the laptop. As for Sapphire's character, I knew that I wanted to make her a water spirit from the very start. Her personality was the tricky part. At first, I kind of wanted her to be kind of at odds with Jack and the two would always debate on which element is better. Sample dialogue below... Jack: I bring snow days to people in Winter. Sapphire: Well I bring waves to the beaches in Summer. And, FYI, snow is made out of frozen water. Yeah, I wanted them to sort of dislike each other at first but then I figured that it might get in the way of their romance. All in all, I'm quite happy with how Sapphire turned out. Zenna Fiersome (HTTYD) Probably the most complex OC I've ever made. Zenna is me...well, what I wish I could be like in terms of personality and strength, anyway :D HTTYD was the second DreamWorks film I went fangirl crazy for. And, after watching the first film on DVD DOZENS of times, I started to think: "What if Hiccup had a friend before Toothless?" Once again, I used a notebook to write the first draft. And, as I browsed through the many fanfics on this website where Hiccup already had a friend before Toothless, I noticed that there was a lack of them that had another Night Fury in them. Then I thought: "What if there were TWO Night Furies instead of just one?" And that's how Stryka was created, making her Toothless' beloved mate and the two of them the probably last two of their kind. Zenna's personality was already developed before I even started writing the first draft. I wanted her to be a girl, of course, with a personality that somewhat resembled Astrid's but mixed in with a little bit of Hiccup's. Zenna is tough but kind, stubborn yet caring and doesn't let other people walk all over her but is willing to help those in need. My decision to have her not be originally from Berk helped me add an air of intrigue around her. The less you know about Zenna's past, the more interested you are to find out about her mysterious roots. In fact, Zenna is somewhat of a mystery even to her friends when it comes to her old life in the South. As for her and Eret being childhood sweethearts, I got the idea when I first found out about Kit Harrington voicing a character in HTTYD 2. The minute I learned about Eret's name, I remembered Zenna's background and I was like: "Maybe this Eret person can be Zenna's love interest..." And, ding, ding, ding! Idea of them being childhood sweethearts was conceived! Incidentally, there's this other concept I had for Zenna that I actually thought about while I was already writing HTTYD 2. I imagined Zenna to be a princess and her parents, Edgar and Henna, are the king and queen while Elias, her older brother, is prince and heir to the throne. The Fiersome family are rulers of a far-off kingdom...where Night Furies live with the people as family and friends. Stryka is Zenna's companion and draconian sister since she is the daughter of the Alphas of the Night Furies. As for Eret, he's the son of the captain of the Royal Family's Royal Guard and is tasked with protecting the prince and princess ever since he was seven. I thought of Zenna and Eret being the same age here instead of having a five-year age gap to let them have a closer bond. Over time, friendship turned into something else for the princess and her bodyguard. Then, five years before HTTYD 2, Drago attacks the kingdom and massacres all of the inhabitants including most of the Night Furies that include Stryka's parents. King Edgar and Queen Henna are killed along with Eret's father as Eret, Elias and Zenna manage to escape the castle. But, as they're running through the forest, Elias is gravely injured. With his last breath, Elias makes Eret promise that he will look after his sister and tells Zenna to "Fly free." and dies. Things go from bad to worse when Drago's armored dragons swoop in and grab Eret, who screams for Zenna to run. Taken to Drago, Eret is forced to watch the Dark Bewilderbeast destroy the kingdom with an ice blast. Eret is completely crushed, believing that Zenna had perished along with everyone, and is forced to become a dragon trapper. What he doesn't know is that Zenna had survived, although it cost her her right eye, along with Stryka who also lost her right eye in the massacre along with some of the Night Furies. This event, however, completely changes Zenna. From a warm-hearted girl, she became cold, distant and no longer trusted humans as well as other dragons except for Night Furies. She, Stryka and the Night Furies move to another island where Zenna creates a sanctuary for Night Furies. In the third film (where I really hope we get to see more Night Furies for real), Zenna's sanctuary is discovered by Hiccup and the Dragon Riders. A fight breaks out as Zenna ferociously tries to keep the intruders out. She is successful in subduing the Riders and their dragons but finds herself evenly matched by Eret, whom she doesn't recognize. Eret, however, recognizes her by seeing the pendant around her neck and tries to stop Zenna from attacking by showing her the pin she had made for him when they were kids. Zenna recognizes Eret at last, but gets angry at him because she thinks that he had led her to believe this whole time that he was dead. A good part of the story will focus on Hiccup and the Riders trying to get Zenna to trust them and their dragons while Eret tries to reconnect with Zenna and bring back the sweet and loving princess he once knew. So, yeah, that's my other concept for Zenna. But you know what? I think I've done a pretty good job in creating her :) | |||||||
