"So it wasn't as bad as I thought," Cisco states as they head into the lobby.
"What about you?" Barry looks over at Frost and she shrugs.
"It was ok," she didn't really like it, but she had no intention of hurting Barry's feelings, especially when the movie clearly meant so much to him, "can we see another one too?"
"Sure, you can see up there on the screen if there's any movie that sounds interesting," Cisco points up at a set of screens and Frost starts searching for a movie.
"There's one that starts now," Frost runs over to the clerk and asks for three tickets. Barry and Cisco catches up with her and the speedster pays.
"Horror?" Cisco gapes and Frost chuckles.
"Don't be a pussy," she follows the signs into the right room and they find their seats.
"What movie is it?" Barry asks as he sits down next to Frost.
"A nightmare on Elm Street," she answers and Cisco looks over at Barry from his seat on the other side of Frost.
"Is it bad?" he asks and Barry shrugs.
"Never seen it before."
"If I can't sleep the next couple of days, it's on you guys," the breacher huffs and leans back against the seat.
"It's starting," Frost hushes and focuses on the screen with an exiting smile.
"We're all gonna have sleepless nights from now on," Barry notes as they exit the building.
"I won't," Frost says and starts walking down the street with a satisfied hum.
"Don't come crying when he gets you," Cisco mutters and breaches them to STAR.
"What are we going to do now?" Frost asks and sits down on a chair.
"Not sure," Barry sighs as he realises that she's sitting in Caitlin's seat.
"Do you feel her now?" Cisco asks and Frost looks up at him.
"I don't know. I feel a small pressure in my head. One that wasn't there before,"
"Wait, you've had a headache all day?" Barry asks with a worried look.
"No," Frost crosses her arms and uses her foot to turn the chair towards the computers.
"I'll get you some painkillers and water," Cisco pats her shoulder and walks out of the cortex. Barry hesitates before following.
Frost looks behind her shoulder to make sure they're gone and starts typing on the keyboard. A minute later she pulls up security feeds and starts analysing what she sees.
She takes notes on a block of paper she found and smiles whenever she sees her other half happy.
She hears footsteps and quickly turns off the computer and stuffs the paper into her pocket. She stands up just as Barry and Cisco comes back in.
"Here," the breacher gives her a small pill and a glass of water. She slowly pops the pill into her mouth and chugs the water down.
When she gives the glass back, Cisco almost drops it at the sudden coldness and small snowflakes on it.
"Sorry," she apologises and walks into the med bay.
"Are you ok?" Barry follows her and she nods.
"I'm just a little tired," she replies and sits down on the bed.
"We can take an early night and talk more in the morning," he suggests and Frost smiles and lays down. She turns around and Barry takes it as his cue to leave.
Frost keeps her eyes open even as the lights turn off. She isn't scared of going to sleep, but scared she won't wake up.
Scared that she won't be in control when she wakes up.
Instead of dwelling on that she steps over to the desk in the med bay and turns on a desk lamp. She unfolds the crumbled piece of paper in her pocket and starts reading her notes.
She tries to smile warmly, but she ends up grimacing and decides to head to the bathroom. The light shines in her eyes and she closes them until it's comfortable to open them again.
She clears out all the drawers of any kind of makeup she can find. She reads the labels and frowns.
Luckily she has Caitlin's memories and therefore knows a little about each object.
After five minutes the sink is a mess and Frost's pale face has a warmer tone. She's happy that Caitlin has emergency makeup here, but it isn't enough.
She shuts the light off and walks down the hallway. Both Barry and Cisco had headed to their respective homes so she could make all the noises she wants to.
Outside of the lab she uses her powers to transport her home.
No, to Caitlin's home.
She decides to be dramatic and crashes through a window and rolls across the carpeted floor. The apartment is dim lit and the meta steps into the bedroom.
She finds even more makeup and surprisingly a hair colour box. It's unopened and dangerously close to Caitlin's own hair colour.
So Frost reads the instructions and starts to add it to her hair. After a lot of confusion, a long shower and a session with the hair blower, Frost's hair is now about the same shade as the apartment's owner.
She continues with adding the makeup on again. After her face is done she puts on some of Caitlin's clothes and adds a small amount of makeup to the rest of her body where her skin is showing.
She exits the bathroom and looks herself up and down in the body length mirror.
She admits to herself that she looks indeed a lot like Caitlin, well except for her eyes. They're still shining white with hints of pale blue.
She bites her lips and looks down as tears escapes her eyes. She lets out a small sob and slides down to the floor.
She wonders if Caitlin will ever come back. She could see on the security tape that the others clearly like their brunette friend better.
Maybe she can pretend to be Caitlin and the others won't be sad.
But will they be angry at her if they find out?
She sobs into her hands as her breaths becomes shorter and heavier. She had always wanted to live, to be free of Caitlin's mind, but she never imagined it to be like this.
She's happy that she can do whatever she wants. So why doesn't it feel good? Why is she crying in front of a mirror while looking like the one she wants to escape?
She opens her eyes. Her cries subsides as she looks around. Everything she sees is just endless blackness. She feels the cold stabbing pain on her skin. She is all too familiar with this place.
She can't tell what the black void is. She knows it, but it won't come to mind. Maybe because something feels different.
She turns around, only to find out she can't. Her body is stuck where it is and she can barely even move her eyes.
What's the point though. Everything is black. A taunting sensation blows around her and she can feel her brain panicking and trying to make sense of the situation.
Trying to find an exit.
Her eyes closes unwillingly and she is attacked by memories.
The memories are similar to the black void. Only that it isn't black. She sees rooms and smiles and buildings.
She can feel hugs and kisses and a soft duvet.
She hears a bird whistle and a squirrel run and a bark along with a hiss.
She experiences this all without interacting with it. She's tied down, forced to watch a movie from her perspective, but someone else's moves.
She remembers the place. The black void. The cold sensation around her. It's the same place she is now. Only that there were no movies there.
She knows where she is. Where she was. Where she should be.
She never learned the real name, but for her it was and always will be, the mind prison.
Caitlin feels a headache even before the bright light shines into her eyes. She tries to squint, but it's like her body is frozen. She feels her chest tighten and panic rises to the surface.
She thinks back to what she remembers happened last. She was talking to Barry on the phone, but that was it. She can't seem to remember anything else.
She watches mist evaporate from her mouth as she breathes. Her body is cold and she feels lonely and sad.
The light dims and her body slumps down on something hard. She whips her head up and sighs as she sees her bedroom.
She sits up on her knees and looks around. Her gaze wanders to the mirror and she sees frightened brown eyes looking back at her.
She just stares as her eyes slowly turn lighter and lighter until they turn white and then all she sees is blackness.
She wants to cry and curl up, but she can't move or see, hear or smell. She curses herself for somehow ending up here.
She feels a sudden envy and anger. And then plain sadness. She wishes she knows why she feels these emotions. Why does she feel like she's in someone's shadow?
She can see her bedroom again. She shudders and watches the bedroom shift. She's scared at first, but then she calms down. She can barely see herself in the mirror. Her gaze is locked somewhere else.
The floor turns white and snowflakes falls down around her. She watches the unique snowflakes in amusement.
She watches them as she realises what's happening.
She watches them and knows she's stuck in her mind, with Killer Frost in control.
