AN: This is my first try at writing stories so pls bare with me.

They say that when you die it is either you go to heaven or hell. I'm not the most religious of people but even I somewhat believe that. Let's clarify something, I died. And not the most graceful ways mind you. I died of lung cancer, years of smoking finally caught me. So I'm quite baffled to wake up in a room that's not mine. But also to find a floating screen.

Like, what the hell? Last time I remembered was the doctors rushing in to try and save me, and

that's it! I don't even remember my name! I only now the reason of my death and the last moments of my life! Now I suddenly wake up in a unknown room and having this floating screen in front of me.

What's more surprising is that I'm still calm knowing such things.

I'm so confused. What is this floating screen? And where the heck I am?

What the fuck?! (The Gamer) ability?? As in the ability to live your life like a game?! Holy shit!! And what's with the quest penalty? I'll die If I don't do this quest?! And with a time limit too!!

No way, not happening, I'm not gonna die again. So let's see, I'm in a spartan like room with only a bed, a dresser, and a small bed table with a phone in it. I guess that this phone is mine, let's see. 7:00 AM and a reminder saying that it's the first day of school. So I guess I'll be attending school huh? Standing up, I move to open the dresser, and found a blazer that I'm suddenly familiar with. Opening my phone again, I opened the Google Map to confirm my suspicion. It showed Kouh City, Japan! I'm in Highschool DxD!!

The sudden influx of memories and knowledge about Highschool DxD left me stumbling for a bit before I regain my balance. I only watched the show until season 2 so I'm not sure what happens next after that, that and the fact that I mainly focused on the main characters that I don't know much about the plot, well except the Phenex plot and the Kokabiel plot, I know some important details on those.

Out of nowhere a letter feel down in front of me. Which made me wonder, normally I'll freak out if something like that happens but now? I'm so calm. Is this a part of (The Gamer) ability? I picked up the letter and opened it, it has 3 contents. One which is labelled "Memories", another which is labelled "Explanation", and another which is labelled "The Gamer's Introduction".

I first tried to read "Memories" but turns out that I don't have to, because the moment I tried to open it, it dispersed to golden moats of light and surged into my body.

And I suddenly remembered who am I. I'm Jason Lin, a working student at the age of 35. Yes, that's right, I'm a orphan. The lady at the orphanage told me that my father died before I was born and my mother died shortly after childbirth. She said that she is my mother's friend and that my mother asked her to take care of me before she died. She also died when I'm in the 3rd grade of elementary. I remember stopping at 1st year of highschool because of financial problems. Since then I started working for myself. At the mere age of 15 I moved out of the orphanage to live in a run down apartment. The rent is low and the apartment it self is still holding up, it is also near my workplace, so I moved in. At the age of 30 I started dreaming of studying again, I dream of becoming a doctor. I saw other people older than me continue their studies, so I thought that maybe I can do that too.

It is hard. Not only because of age discrimination, but also because of the stress. Studying at day, working at night. Books and Smoking are my stress relief, something that I most of the time can't do. I don't have the time to read books and I cannot afford the luxury of smoking because of the rent and the tuition fee.

At the age of 34 I was diagnosed of having a lung cancer. I felt sad and discouraged, that after every hardships I went through, I won't even live to achieve my dreams.

At the same time I'm not surprised,

the amount of cigarettes I smoke when I'm in my 20's ensured that I will someday be diagnosed with a lung cancer. So instead of sulking and wallowing in despair, I lived my life, I studied harder, I made friends, and I encouraged myself to never give up. August 15, 2011. I'm supposed to be attending my graduation ceremony. Instead I'm in the hospital living the last days of my life. I know I'm gonna die. I didn't inform my friends about my sickness, so i guess they will be surprised. Then come the beeping, the blurring of my vision, the screams of the nurses, and lastly the approaching doctors. Then it is all black.

My former life had been full of hardships but I also learned to smile and enjoy it so I guess that's good right?

Next I opened the letter that's labelled "Explanation"

"Dear Jason Lin,

You were chosen as the next person to inherent (The Gamer) ability, you will live your life as a game. What normally was impossible, can be achievable! It is only your own capabilities that can limit you or improve you! (The Gamer) ability was inherited from the former Gamer who died. The Game System chooses it's next wielder randomly after the former died. You should feel greatful and lucky! Out of billions of souls that the Gamer System may choose that day, It has chosen you!Your very own Game System is called Reika! Your world have been pre-selected so as your character. In this DxD world you are Jin Taiga, a 17 years old 2nd year highschool student who attends Kouh Academy. You are in Class 2-A same as Yuuto Kiba. With that said, I wish you the best of luck on your new life!

So it turns out that there is a Gamer before me and even before that Gamer. And yes, I am very grateful to be chosen as the new Gamer and for the life I've been given. So, Jin Taiga huh? Not a bad name. Looking at my reflection on my phone's screen shows me that I have a black hair which is cut shoulder length and my skin is tanned. My face is quite handsome with a pair of mismatched red and violet eyes. Red in the left and violet in the Right.

After observing myself I next opened the letter labelled "The Gamer's Introduction".

" Commands can be thought and spoken.

Status - shows the Gamer's status screen

Inventory - opens the Gamer's inventory

Skills - shows the Gamer's Active and Passive Skills

Journal - shows the Gamer's active quests and completed quests

Reputation - shows the Gamer's reputation screen, affection is also showed in here

Shop - opens the Gamer's shop screen, items sold in shop are basic quality items and materials. Weapons and equipments sold at the shop can never be levelled higher than the Gamer.

Gacha - opens the Gamer's Gacha screen. Unlike the shop, items, weapon, and equipments are random so it be a Divine Grade Item or a Trash Grade Item

Notes:

1. Stats, Clasess, Production Classes, Titles, Perks , Tiers, Item Gradings, and Gacha mechanics will be explained once tutorial is initiated.

2. To start the Tutorial, simply speak " Initiate Game System, Reika"

3. The Game System, Reika will awaken once you speak those words. She will explain everything to you".

This is incredible. So I can voice out commands and I can also just think of them, useful specially in certain situations. I have my own sentient Game Sytem called Reika who will awaken once I started the Tutorial.

There are Stats obviously, the Inventory and the Journal, the Skills,

And holy shit a Gacha?!! I also have a Shop where I can buy items and materials. Great specially once I have Production Classes. Lastly, Tiers and Item Gradings huh? That just makes me a lot more curious and excited in starting out!

Well I guess there's only one thing left to do.

AN: And with that this chapter is concluded. Next chapter would be the explanation of Stats and other things. Specially the Tiers and Item Gradings, cause it may confuse some of you.

Also, critique and suggestions are welcomed, so as flames and bashings. Who bashes a story right on the first chapter anyways?

P.S. : Like I said earlier I'm just beginning to write. So pls any advices and help are welcomed.
