Summary/disclaimer: Time for another chapter of Monarch and Matriarch. Enjoy the 1200-word chapter. I don't own Elfen Lied, Lynn Okamoto, Shueisha and a few others do.

He sought her; he could feel her. They were connected, just like they had always been. She knew him when it came down to it.

"Lucy?" He asked, his vision obscured by the visor clad around his face. "I can sense you, are you safe?" He questioned as he sighed.

He reached out with his vectors. While they were obscured from hurting someone in this state? His vectors… Or circuits as the humans called them? They could join with hers mentally. The humans barely understood Diclonius when it came down to it. Lucy was his life; she was his dream.

"Yes." Lucy stated, closing her eyes as she did so. "I cannot see, but I can feel you… Why do the humans hunt us? The hive was not in their location… Nor did we bother them." Lucy responded as he frowned.

He knew why. Many humans feared them. Diclonius were monsters to humans, they were myths. He and lucy were quite willing to live away from humans, he was quite aware they wanted more power, something they could easily take from both… But he knew that something was going to point out that this was inevitable.

"We must continue to fight, making sure that there was something at the end of the road." Lucy stated while shaking her head and thought of how this could go. "I am safe, if I was not? You would know, that there's more going on they tell us." Lucy added while her eyes opened slightly.

He chuckled. He knew that something was off, she was curious. Lucy was a VERY dangerous woman, challenging her was like dancing with a snake, she would kill you. She'd be ripping through them like they were prey.

"You know they refer to me as the 'monarch'." He said with amusement and chuckled with a click. "Are you sure you are alright? They threaten you to attempt to get to me. I don't know what the plan is, you are usually the one who comes up with plans." He said as he sighed, looking while he shook his head.

"Sein?" Lucy questioned as her connection started to fade. "But I do wish to not think of how this was going…. But that was going to break, but I want to think about how this will end. They bring in tools to probe my mind, will you be ok if I free myself?" Lucy asked to which Sein was silent.

He knew what Lucy was probing for when he thought about it. Even with the ebon visor covering his eyes? He could tell Lucy was going to break out. She only used his name when she was serious.

"Do you plan on going after her?" Sein questioned, raising his eyebrow as he did so. "I can't sense her; I know how dangerous they are. They know that if we don't give in? They will hurt her." Sein said as he hung his head.

There was a sharp pain shooting through his brain, grunting as his body conversed, pain severed their link. He damned the scientists, had the humans broken their promise? If things were that bad? Then he was terrified, if they were dangerous? He needed to ponder what they did when it came down to it.

"Damn you, damn you more than anything when it comes down to it." Sein cursed, pausing to take a labored breath through his lips.

The pain told him he was alive, alive enough to fight through it. They'd go after her, but he wouldn't allow it… If he even chose to allow it? He had no right calling himself the king of their people. His only hope was that Lucy gave them nothing, he needed all the time possible to make his move… Lucy was strong, but she could not holdout forever when he thought about it. It made him curse even more to himself, weak and pathetic he was if he couldn't protect her.

However? If there was something he could do to protect her? he'd do it in a heartbeat. There was plenty of people who needed to pay for this, it would just end up taking longer to find and make sure they didn't hurt anyone ever again.

'How this end will be your death, humans.' Sein thought as he reached out for Lucy again.

He felt through the walls, concrete and stone faltered at the mere mention of what he searched for. Sein could feel Lucy on the other end as he blinked, unsure of what to say.

"I can't feel her, she's worrying me." Sein stated as he sighed. "They shouldn't have come after the hive. We left them alone and this is how they seek to repay that kindness? We should make sure they pay, just like they made us pay." Sein added as he closed his eyes.

"Don't, they're not worth the same effort you seem to think they are." Lucy stated before he turned, curious as to what came next. "Don't forget, we have our kingdom to look after. Any desire for revenge comes when they are put to safety." Lucy added which was given a nod towards her partner.

He couldn't really argue with that logic given the circumstances, Sein knew this was bigger then just him, and it was bigger than her… But it was still something that he couldn't just neglect.

"I'm not letting them turn you into a test subject." Sein stated as he paused, curious what they'd do next. "You're not a monster no matter what they tell you? You're not even close to one, you aren't going to be chained down by them, I swear it." Sein added as he shook his head, unsure of what to say or do next.

Sein cleared his throat, clicking his fingers against the metal cell that continued him. They could try as much as they wanted, he would not remain their prisoner, not the way they wanted him to be.

She could sense him. He felt a tug on his presence as he turned to look around, curious as to what came next. There would be a way to dispose of him. there was too much work to simply die here, he refused to lay down and allow them to be their slave.

However? He had a feeling it wouldn't matter if he died here. He was going to make sure that his kingdom didn't die with him. If they wanted him dead that badly? They'd have to force their own hand. Sein was test subject to nobody but his own kind, no human would hold the same amount of power that he did.

Phew. Another chapter done! I want to point out that next chapter will be longer and such. Next chapter will be 900-4500 words and will show both Sein and Lucy starting their plans and such. Until then, Lighting Wolf out!
