Izuku was quick to start packing up his stuff once the last lesson of the day, not even bothering to keep his elbows in check as he shoved every last notebook and pencil into his bookbag. If he accidentally clipped anger issues to his left then he'd just fight him, but he needed to get out of this classroom as soon as possible.
His mom was picking him up and there was no way he was being caught dead around his classmates when she arrived.
He loved his fellow hero students, he did.
Sure, they got a little touchy-feely from time to time and most of the girls seemed to be obsessed with petting him, but they were better than the kids in middle school. Those brats learned eventually that just because he was obscenely cute doesn't mean he can't kick them hard enough to swallow their testicles.
On days like today, he wasn't above throwing a few more of those kicks, even at friends.
He'd beg for their forgiveness at a later date, he just needed to get out of here.
The zipper on his bag was tugged harshly into place and he quickly vaulted over his desk, happy that the structure was bolted to the ground and didn't topple over with him his weight.
Izuku ignored the indignant squawk followed by the tell-tale crackles of Bakugou's quirk as he tried to recover his masculinity after being clipped by the green-haired boy's bag.
The hero-in-training kept going, skirting between Jirou and Shoji's desks and diving headfirst over Ojiro's.
He'd have to apologize for kicking the tailed boy's paper into the air as well.
But now, he was in the open, the obscenely (and unnecessarily) large doors to the 1-A classroom were wide open and ripe for the sprinting through. Not even Iida would be able to block them in time before Izuku got out. The speedster was fast and definitely had a personal vendetta against any kind of rule-breaking within the school, but his speed would do nothing when he'd have to break the rules just to use it.
So, he was safe.
That is, until a tongue wrapped around his ankle and a pink face appeared in front of him, arms wide.
"Usagi!"
He cursed his mouth for curving into a smile as the girl caught him and deftly began stroking his hair around the base of his ears. He cursed his legs for kicking out excitedly every time her fingers brushed along the particularly pleasurable spots.
And he cursed his little poof of green fur he calls a tail for waggling around at his back, betraying his pleasure.
His mother never had any troubles with this.
Of course, she and he were basically polar opposites when it came to personality.
One time in middle school to find her crying into his auntie's arms about how she was a 'failure of a mother' and her son turned out nothing like her, which was ridiculous. First off, she's a terrific mother, far better than his first, and even more importantly, she was the best mom ever.
All accounts point to her being a good mom.
He loved her dearly.
And if he didn't escape his classmates they'd meet her, which was unacceptable.
He squirmed slightly in Mina's arms, trying to wiggle out of her hold, only to melt back into it as Tsuyu's hands began carding through his curls alongside the pink-haired and pink-faced witch's.
To make matters worse, Jirou was all too happy to follow suit, though, without any more room on his head, her hand rose higher and stroke along the tips of his ears. He knew that was intentional, her earphone jacks were probably just as sensitive to light touches as his rabbit ears. She knew exactly how to touch them to make them feel good.
He could hear loudly proclaiming something or other about proper professional etiquette and public displays of affection, but he was in too deep to make out the words through his world of pleasure. A purr erupted from his throat even as he tried his damnedest to suppress it and he could just barely make out the cooing of the other girls.
He wouldn't stand for it.
Four fingers touched down against his stomach, brushing aside his actually well-made tie (his mother had grabbed him by the collar and dragged him back into their apartment to fix it before she let him leave for the day) and scratching along his belly. He could just barely make out the signature pads of Uraraka's fingertips as she rubbed him in all of the right ways.
It was bliss.
And his mom was going to be here soon, so it must end.
He wiggled once again and immediately regretted it as the gravity quirk user's fifth finger touched down and he began floating. One emerald eye cracked open to glare at her cheeky smile.
"Going somewhere?"
He didn't trust his voice to not showcase his secret delight in all of the attention so he merely nodded his head.
The rosy-cheeked girl let out a soft hum but didn't let up in her ministrations for even a moment. He couldn't say for certain if it was because she didn't believe him or just didn't care, but all he knew was he was most definitely not getting out of here in time.
"Where's my baby!?"
Nope.
He didn't even have a chance.
All of the hands that roamed his body immediately retracting to their persons as the shout echoed through the hallways, the general bustle of the students leaving for the day not doing enough to drown out the irate voice.
The reprieve from the pleasure was welcome, but it was too little, too late.
He could already hear his mom's fast-approaching footsteps and he knew there was no escape save for jumping out the window. He considered it, but ultimately, even if he knew he could handle it, he was far too young to die to a mother's smothering.
Also, she would have raised his school to the ground if he did, and he didn't particularly want that.
So, instead, he took a step back and freed himself from the cluster of girls around him. He wasn't even entirely sure when Yui from their sister class had appeared alongside Setsuna, but he didn't have the time to worry about that at the moment.
The girls were all quaking in their places, as they watched the door. The fact that they had never even met his mother nor knew who it was that was so angry spoke volumes about the sheer force and authority of the voice.
Izuku took in a deep – and hopefully calming – breath and braced himself for what's to come.
If he focused hard enough, he could probably prevent it from happening this time.
Most of his classmates had already left the room, he wasn't sure when most of them had escaped but he was glad they were gone.
Especially Baugou.
He didn't even remember much of the two of them being friends (he had been six when they stopped seeing each other, after all), but for whatever reason, the guy hated his guts. It wasn't mutual, but at the very least, he wouldn't get any insult material from this encounter.
Gods forbid he actually came up with something actually creative for once.
The only person who remained other than the girls who were petting him was Tokoyami. Izuku supposed it made sense, they were actually friends from middle school – something about Dark Shadow wanting to be friends and his bird-headed host being unable to deny the sentient quirk's request. Izuku called bull on that and decided Fumikage wanted to be friends, but he would never say that out loud.
He didn't need any sonnets or one-liners about darkness at the moment.
Tokoyami had actually been nice enough not to bring up anything about Izuku's mom to anybody in his class, which was nice. Though, it looked like most good things must come to an end as Dark Shadow already had a phone pointed at him and set to record.
No apples for them, then.
The footsteps were getting louder as well as the fearful cries of students who stared death in the face.
Izuku took in another deep breath and braced himself.
"Izuku! Where are you, kit?"
Deep breath in.
"You! Blonde twerp! Where is Izuku?"
"Oho? Why would you want to know where that 1-A trash I— "
There was a loud thud in the hallway that left nobody concerned for the voice's owner and more so worried about the building's structural integrity.
Deep breath out.
"Whatever! I'll find him myself!"
Deep breathe in.
A white-haired, ruby-eyed woman slid to a stop in front of the open doors to the classroom. The crazed look in her eyes immediately dimming as she caught sight of her son. Before the remaining occupants even had time to react, the floor beneath her cracked and she had was kneeling beside him with him in her arms.
For somebody who named all of her super moves after the moon, she really did look like a lunatic.
Now, it looked concerning from an outside perspective when one's friend suddenly collapses without warning.
Combine that with the fact that his apparent mother (who was now revealed to be a top hero) is seemingly frantically looking for him before he collapses. Well, it paints a worrying picture.
Of course, that picture was entirely false and nothing was wrong in the slightest.
At least not physically. Mentally, Izuku was screaming in embarrassment even as he purred and nuzzled into his mom's shoulders.
Miruko let out a loud, boisterous laugh even as a loving smile graced her lips.
"Look who still can't keep himself from flopping every time he sees his mommy."
He groaned but didn't deny it. That still didn't stop him from shooting a glare over her shoulder to the back of the room where Dark Shadow was snickering.
It was undeniably cute and unfairly adorable, both mother and son looking no different from a rabbit and its kit.
The girls remained in stunned silence as they watched on, not sure of how to respond to the new knowledge that the boy they were just petting was the son of a hero. And not just any hero, but the kickass Rabbit Hero.
Miruko.
How could they not have known?
They both had rabbit ears and tails and everything!
They should really have listened to Todoroki's inane rants after the sport's festival. They couldn't really say what had happened during their breaks at the event, but something had made the heterochromatic-eyed boy adamant that Izuku was her son. Sure, they may have been inclined to agree if he hadn't immediately followed it up with the theory that Izuku was Miruko and All Might's son.
Plus, the woman looked like she was in her late twenties, and unless she had a kid when she was like 10, it was unlikely that was their relationship.
So, they brushed him aside.
And, oh what fools they had been.
Sure, Todoroki was technically wrong about most, if not all, of his points.
Miruko was his mom, but not biologically.
And All Might certainly wasn't his dad.
No matter what the other boy says, just because he looks like the Rabbit Hero and acts like the Symbol of Peace isn't evidence of him being their son.
Before any of the girls had time to collect themselves and ask any of the questions thundering through their minds, Miruko had already picked up her son and taken off once again, laughing to herself at the blissful smile on his face.
Tokoyami was quick to follow after her, Dark Shadow cackling quietly as she watched and rewatched the video.
It wasn't until Aizawa huffed and shouldered his way through the crowd of dumbstruck heroes in training with his signature yellow sleeping bag over his shoulder that they finally broke out of their stupor.
They didn't have the chance to ask him questions today, but they would make damn sure they got the chance too eventually.
Of course, those hopes were dashed as soon as they thought to hope them.
First came the final exams, which sucked just about every thought from their heads other than things pertaining to school.
Then was the training camp, which sucked every thought other than 'again' and 'pain' from their minds.
Then, of course, Bakugou was kidnapped and some of them were hospitalized.
And then Kamino ward was destroyed.
And then All Might was forced into retirement and revealed to be a skinny little twig.
Miruko and Izuku were both just a little miffed about that.
Of course, Izuku had been thoroughly punished for going out to rescue the blond-haired boy and worrying his mother sick after he'd already been beaten to hell fighting Muscular. Apparently 'but I kicked him even harder' is not a valid excuse for breaking several ribs, an arm, and having a concussion and then going to an active battle after that.
Who would've thought?
But now, Izuku was cursed to be cornered by his admirers.
Because he was being trapped into a dorm or, as his mother refers to it, his warren.
Gross, but considering just how much girls are after his pelt, it's not entirely inaccurate.
So, after curling up in a miserably Tsuyu's lap to make her feel better and rejoining the rest of their class, he found himself surrounded on all sides.
Naturally, all of the people from the classroom that day were there and, of course, Todoroki was there with a corkboard with an unreasonable amount of string connecting the three sole pictures on it.
It was just him, his mom, and All Might arranged in a triangle with an entire spool's worth of yarn wrapped between them.
Izuku leaned into Yui's hand as it came to rest atop his head, the 1-B student had already threatened to shrink any of the girl's clothes if they tried to steal him away from her for the night, so she pretty much had sole custody over his ears.
Setsuna didn't listen, because she was Setsuna, and her disembodied arms were hovering nearby, occasionally taking swipes down to scratch at his head when the black-haired girl got distracted.
"Explain."
Not exactly a whole lot to go off of with that statement, but he could roll with it.
"Well, their quirks are actually really interesting! Setsuna's mother had a strong telekinesis quirk and her father– "
" " " " " " NO! " " " " " "
The rabbit boy huffed and crossed his arms disapprovingly, his large foot tapping at the ground as he waited for the group to settle down. Tsuyu was still rather quiet in her seat across from him so, while nobody was looking, he pat the spot beside him in a silent offering to her.
Luckily, another girl taking a spot beside him that was previously off-limits was a quick way to quiet everybody as they grumbled to themselves about 'unfairness.'
Yui was even nice enough to not shrink Tsuyu's clothes.
"Well, what would you have me explain then?"
"Your mom!"
His mom?
Was that what this was about?
Nobody had actually explained to him why they wanted him to stay downstairs, nor why a few of the girls from their sister class were appearing.
He was actually really excited thinking they wanted to hear his quirk analysis, he loved quirk analysis! He really should have expected that they wanted him to talk about his mom.
"What about my mom?"
"Why didn't you tell us she was Miruko!"
Izuku blinked. Once. Twice.
He glanced to his left to see Yui's eyes boring into him even as she remained ever so silent. Then he turned to his right and saw Tsuyu's ever-wide eyes.
For good measure, he glanced up toward the ceiling and looked into Setsuna's eyes and her head hovered above him.
His head cocked to the side, sending his soft ears flopping to the side as he did in a gesture that could only be considered cute.
"It just.. never came up? It's not like I tried to hide it, we have the same last name."
Apparently, 'never came up' is not the right answer as all of the girls (save Yui) exploded with noise. Todoroki was furiously scribbling notes in a journal that rested on a podium of ice as his left hand hovered over his corkboard, ready to move any string he needed to. Izuku wasn't entirely sure where he'd move them to besides away from All Might, but to each their own.
A whole slew of questions were hurled at him and before he could curl in on himself with the explosion of noise Yui had enlarged a pair of earmuffs and placed them over his head. How she even thought to bring those with her was confusing on its own, even more so when she tossed a differently designed pair to Jirou.
Even with the protection, all it did was help, he could still make out the storm of questions rather easily.
"Did she train you?"
"Is it true that she can jump over the moon?"
"Does she really like carrots as much as they say?"
"What's she like?"
Before anybody had the chance to get them to stop a quick explosion from a scowling Bakugou quietened them down. His red eyes passed over each of them as they all stared back at them before he clicked his tongue and walked to the elevators. They watched as the doors slowly opened and he walked in, waiting till they heard the soft hum that accompanied the machine moving up to turn back to Izuku.
He let out a sigh and slipped the headphones from his ears, handing them back to the girl with a bright smile that left her face flushed and her heart racing.
"Now, I'm just going to ignore most of those questions and just go to the last one I heard. My mom is amazing, she's been nothing short of the best ever since she took me in."
".. took you in? You mean.. "
"Hm? Oh, yeah. She adopted me.. kinda.. "
And with those few words, Todoroki's conspiracy board went up in flames as he wept.
"That sounds like a great story! Tell us! Tell us!"
Izuku blinked over at Mina's excited face before shrugging to himself and opening his mouth to begin.
…
A small, six-year-old Izuku stretched tiredly as he rose up from the cardboard laid out beneath him, rubbing his dirty sleeve over his eyes to clear away the sleep that was left in them. The clothes he was wearing were ratty at best, covered in holes and dirt, but they were the best he could afford to wear.
It wasn't like he had anything nicer, he was probably supposed to be starting school or something, but it wasn't like he had any means to.
Suddenly, a shadow loomed over him and he looked up and met a pair of ruby eyes. The girl was wearing a school uniform he couldn't quite identify with, despite his love for heroes. Of course, he didn't know it was the uniform to a hero school either but had it been a more well-known school, he would have known.
The two blinked at each other in unison, white and green ears fidgeting nervously as they stared into one another's eyes.
Then, without any prompting, he was slung over her shoulder with a soft 'mine' and they were on their way.
…
".. so, that's how my mom adopted me."
For a while, nobody spoke. Todoroki was already well into his second conspiracy after begging on his hands and knees for Momo to make him a new corkboard. Mina looked starry-eyed while Jirou seemed thoroughly unamused.
"That's it?"
Izuku shrugged with a soft smile.
"I fought like hell to get away from her but she wasn't having any of it, just started raising me at the age of sixteen and the rest is history."
".. "
".. "
".. "
".. "
".. and your rabbit quirk?"
".. my what?"
"Your rabbit quirk! Miruko's quirk is 'rabbit' and you obviously have the same one, so how'd that happen?"
"My quirk is called 'bunny.'"
".. "
".. "
".. what's the difference?"
Izuku huffed once again before leaning back.
At some point, Yui had apparently snuck half of her body behind him so he ended up leaning his head into the crook of her neck, but you wouldn't see him complaining.
"My.. dad.. if you can call him that, had a fire-breathing quirk. The woman who gave birth to me had a minor telekinesis quirk, I don't really remember much of my time with either of them as I was young but mom found out who they were. Apparently, the woman's quirk was 'attraction of small objects' or something."
He took a deep breath before continuing on.
"Anyway, my quirk mutated, and my 'dad' just assumed his wife cheated on him when my quirk manifested, packed up, and left. She blamed him leaving on me and left me on a street corner before disappearing."
Their horrified looks were promptly ignored, it's not like it hurt him at all to talk about. He doesn't even remember them anymore and he has a loving mother.
"My mom seems convinced that my quirk was apparently a mutation of my mother's, where instead of 'attraction of small objects' I got the 'attraction' and the rest was a natural mutation that gave me body features. Essentially, it's a version of her 'rabbit' quirk but with a cuteness factor, thus it is not 'rabbit' but rather 'bunny.'"
He was met with several unimpressed stares.
"Yeah, okay, no. It's a rabbit quirk and your mom thinks that you're cute. She's a mom."
"But– "
"Green. If you had an attraction quirk, don't you think you'd have like a bunch of people in love with you or something?"
He blinked before glancing around the room at all of the girl's present.
"Er.. "
How do I break it to them?
Simple.
He wouldn't.
Instead, he'd just let his mom cackle to herself at each of his different weddings. That seemed like a good alternative. Just so long as everybody is happy.
Fin.
