BNHA: Dual Fates

Chapter 32: Fooled by misjudgment.

A/N: I'm so sorry, that this took so long to push out but here's another chapter! Thank you very much for waiting! I was trying to finish the new cover for my book and it took me DAYS to finish! Thank, again! :D

"Come, Saito. After that fight and losing sight of your friend, I think it'd be best to rest for the remainder of the day. It's nearing night, so let's go to Hosu City, there's something there I wish to show you," his calm, collected voice resonated as he made his way into his vehicle.

Despite how much he wished to track down that snake and save her friend, he knew he couldn't; it'd only risk Uviel's safety. "You too- You tried to help fight Serpentine. I would've been informed by the hero network if new heroes gained their license to fight. However, I've not heard of you, yet you still tried to help fight," As Edgeshot strolled past the large beastly Crock, his gray eyes bore into yellow ones that lit up with slight shock. "You deserve at least a reward, for your efforts. Come along with us-" he wasn't expecting Wani's words to cut him off all of a sudden and halt in his steps; it sounded a bit harsh and distant.

"No! No, you two go on. I don't want to get more involved with you wacky heroes," Rude, he was, the muscular Crock moved his heel to turn and leave, but Uviel's suddenly spoken words caught him by surprise.

"Your wounds. Dude, um- You're bleeding..." Even though the small girl went through something horrible just moments ago, she couldn't help but point out the fact that he was gushing out blood on his shoulder. "At least let us patch you up, or something, as thanks for helping out," Pain engulfed her eyes as depression filled her heart from the event just a few minutes ago.

"Don't worry about it! I just came around to try and save Yukimura and beat her dad's ass. So piss off..." Even though fury laced his grumbled, loud reply, his eyes blinked a little at the idea of being treated by a hero. Why should I let some hero patch up my shoulder?! What, they don't think I'm strong enough to keep going with it untreated?! Hah, they have no idea how much damage I can handle. I didn't even notice I was stabbed there, all I knew was that Serpentine got a hit on me and my quirk mirrored it. Damn bastard, does he think he can get away with kidnapping her again?! From there, he continued to furiously ponder and imagine himself tearing the snake apart with his strong hands.

Uviel and Shinya were both completely ignored, as he left in a fit of anger with stomps of his heavy feet. They watched him pass Edgeshot's vehicle and make his way through the path that they followed to get to the secluded area.

~~~Wani~~~
It was a long trek. To say how long exactly, would be difficult, but Wani made it back to the city on his own and it was already nighttime now. Even though the moon stood high above the lights of the city, it could barely be seen.
Through the shadows of a gap between two buildings, came the Crock with both hands in the pockets of his vest. His long tail swished with every step and when some of the city lights repelled the shadows up to his neck- only his head remained hidden.
A particular smell caught his attention and it didn't take long for him to notice flames brightening up a part of the city ahead of him. Faint screams met his ears, and so he chose to continue with caution. Damn, that teacher and Hitoshi have my cloak. How am I supposed to walk around other people now? angry, an eye twitched at the thought.
Regardless, he kept going and ignored the onlooking citizens who talked about his appearance. On the sidewalk he now stood on, across the street in front of him, was a speedy elder hero clad in yellow and white. Zipping past a beast whose brain could be visible from his head.
The very sight of the strange, tall creature, enticed more anger inside. He didn't care, however, there were children nearby who cried and hid behind their parents from the sidelines. "I can't just let this thing do what it wants. There are friggin' kids here that could get hurt... The damn bastard thinks he can do what he wants, eh?" from inside his pockets, those strong hands clenched so tight that muffled sounds of bones popping, echoed.
Long strides across the pavement, he walked, and knew that the old man wasn't going to be able to kill that beast. He had to do something, to keep the bystander kids safe.
As the strange creature crawled its way towards a couple of citizens, after a strong punch to the ground, the man and woman who hurdled close were soon shielded by a large green man.
Covered with thick hide, the lighter green color on his torso, abdomen, inside of his arms and palms was Wani who caught an incoming swing of the beast's hand. A thud echoed after faint airwaves faded, as soon as they appeared. "You want a death wish?" through his grumbling Crock voice, he spoke and his arm held the beast's hand high above his head with a piercing gaze.
When the creature's free hand was about to swipe at him, a fiery light not only caused the old man behind that thing to jump back but Wani as well. He was relieved that he did the same, lest he got scorched alive like that beast who was engulfed in flames.
"I was looking for the hero killer, but this guy's timing was bad... I don't know who you are, elder...but leave the rest to me. The same goes for you, citizen- stand aside," During and after the creature's scream, came a hero clad in dark blue with fire protruding from his shoulders. Many citizens around him questioned why he was here, as he passed them.
Wani couldn't help but feel like he was talking to him, which only irked him more than he was before. From his peripherals, he watched as the flaming hero approached them with a smirk playing on his lips and felt his eye twitch at his next words. "Isn't it obvious? It's because I'm a hero," he finished.
Despite those words, the creature who was engulfed in flames appeared to be unharmed. It remained low to the ground with a few twitches of its head and kept its multiple strange eyes upon the hero. "Even though I used a lower temperature as a warning, this is the first time anyone's been able to stay conscious after being on the receiving end," he finished and watched the beast disperse flames from its body as soon as the elder tried to speak.
Wani had to jump back further to avoid the fire and used a forearm to shield himself, as did the other two. Damn, more heroes... Annoyance, clear in his monologue, before the fire ceased, he sprinted down the street and knew the two would be too distracted by the beast to pay attention to him.
That didn't mean the old man would push him out of his thoughts, his eyes lingered on the Crock's retreating frame and thought for a moment... He tried to hold it off with raw strength alone; a single citizen? Stern, he was, as he watched Wani leave the area.
Only minutes later, maybe ten? He was alone again and was finally able to snatch something along the way to cover up his large form. Through citizens, who screamed in terror and fire whipping around behind his back, the large cloth that appeared to be some sort of black blanket harshly waved from the gusts.
Though what caught his attention, wasn't the spitting fire from the blazed hero in the far back but a large winged beast, who held a citizen hostage. Huh? Is that a... the Crock trailed off when he tried to get a better look at the captive in its clawed feet. It's hard to tell, but it almost looks like- Yellow eyes squinted after he paused for a moment and finally assumed... A kid?! Surprise lit them up and with a quick bolt of his heavy steps, he sprinted after the flying creature.
He wasn't the only one giving chase, for the hero in flames behind him gained up on Wani. Fury filled the big Crock's mind, it was in that moment when he decided to try and save that supposed child in their grip. The blanket flew off of his backside and was lit up in flames by the hero when it got in his annoyed face.
(Play: Legion by Blue Stahli :D)
Long strides made up for Wani's lack of speed, he covered more ground with his height and one heavy stomp after another- he shot himself into the sky with a strong jump. "AAH!" Clawed hands tried to reach for the beast, but watched it swerve to the side effortlessly to avoid his lunge.
It didn't stop him, though. Right, when it turned to avoid him, its feet were available to grab and he did exactly that. While one foot now held the hostage, the other one flinched from Wani's claws that dug into its foot.
One, swift movement, was all it took to loosen its grip. Wani brought up both of his feet and punted the beast's jaw so hard, that its head jerked to the sky. A powerful thunk echoed throughout the area and a faint wave of air dispersed from the strength behind his strike. Its cry let the Crock know that it hurt, so when its foot let go of the captive, Wani let go and descended.
In mid-fall, in his arms, he caught the hostage and safely landed with a heavy thud. Dirt stirred and he squatted to keep his balance, however, what he didn't expect was to see a full-grown man in his arms. That only angered him further, to be fooled by his own assumption made him want to pound that creature more.
Quickly, after laying him down, he sprinted after it and ignored the confused stare from the flaming hero who caught up to the unconscious citizen.
Across rooftops, he hopped between gaps of buildings and leaped off of an edge to tackle the beast. It wasn't expecting a six-foot and eight-inch man full of raw muscle, to hitch a ride on its back and nearly make it crash into a tall structure.
"Sit still, so I can smash your skull in!" Growled the Crock through gritted sharp teeth. The beast screeched and swerved all over the sky, above the city now, as he pulled a tight fist back. His thick bicep flexed and moved in the process, while his other hand kept a good grip on its neck that nearly made it choke.
When his fist hit the things' head, a sickening crunch echoed, before it fell with him on top and crashed into the street below. Wani still wasn't done, out of the flown dirt, flew the beast who cried out in pain and felt its feet get pulled back into the cloud of dust.
With a strong swing, it was slammed into the pavement and chunks of the ground rose upon impact. Even though no one would be able to tell from far away, his quirk was activated since many bumps protruded from his shoulders and parts of his skin.
After one of its feet finally got loose, its claws cut at his chest just to receive the same damage in the same spot and felt pain ride up through its spine. "Die, you bastard!" The Crock's hand gripped onto its face after he reached around its form.
From behind him, the bloodied creature was tossed into the air with a trail of crimson behind. (Song ends here! xD)
He never thought, for a second, that a hero would intervene, but they did and it was the same hero from before. Fire pierced its head- so, as fast as he could move, from the street, a giant chunk of its pavement was ripped up and thrown at the creature as it flew away. Wani wanted the last hit, he didn't want some hero to take his kill.
As soon as he glanced back at the blazed hero behind him, the chunk of pavement he threw thwacked the beast but it wasn't enough to kill it, so it just continued to fly away. "Damn it," through his crocodile grumble, he spoke irritably and closed his yellow hues. From side to side, he popped his neck and felt the satisfying crunch relieve him of his stress.
He didn't notice the hero in flames holding the unconscious citizen and staring at the distant beast in the sky as it retreated. "I won't let you get away!" Anger, in his blue eyes, glared daggers in its direction, only to move over to the Crocodile man who kept groaning from popping his neck. "You! Why did you get in my way?! Who do you think you are, by ruining my chance of defeating that villain?!" When he questioned the beast of a man in a vest, he watched him walk away with his hand poking at the wound on his chest.
Ignored, completely ignored he was, and it only irked him more to see the Crock leave in pure silence. Although, that was only a facade because inside Wani's mind, was nothing but hate for the hero and a raging storm of swears that the author will not mention.
Those clawed hands were soon stuffed into his pockets, blood trickled down his pectoral muscles deliciously, as his piercing slits bore through the dark of the flaming night. Around a corner and out of sight, the last thought that came to his mind was-
I'll find that bastard's hidden base if it's the last thing I do. Fierce, his mental words were, as he strode through the dark alley in search of the Shigaraki's base.
~~~Days later~~~

Days had passed since Uviel trained with Edgeshot. It took her a long time to get the hang of knowing when to dodge when she didn't need to. Keeping her mind calm and focused was difficult the whole time after that event with Haru and Serpentine, however- There was progress, she learned quite a lot from her idol hero and they even exchanged numbers before they had to part. If anything, to her, he almost felt like a father figure and hoped she could see him again.

She spent the whole week training, learning, and how to be a proper hero. The thing that he wanted to show her turned out to be a beautiful view of the city, which was actually lit up in flames no thanks to the attack of three villains. He even took her home in a hurry, in hopes of getting her to safety so he could help out as quickly as possible.

Uviel badly wanted to know what it was, that Shinya actually wanted to show her and it couldn't have just been the view of the city. There had to have been something there that he didn't get to tell her about, so she pondered on that for the longest time.

Now, Saito was back in school, listening to the many chats and outbursts of her classmates with her eyes glued to a screen just below her desk. Her attention would occasionally glance at the texts from the night before and a ghost of a smile would grace her lips each time.

A nice, long, conversation between her and Eijiro, about Shinya and Mr. Fourth Kind, made her giggle slightly. Shinya, Mr. Aizawa, Hitoshi, and Haru's acquaintance saved me from getting killed by Haru's father and I just learned his alias was Serpentine. Haru appeared out of nowhere to stop him and were both pulled into a weird vortex... I can't believe I couldn't do anything! Not even Hitoshi could speak fast enough before they left and to think- I kept blaming him for not doing so. I feel like such an idiot... pain welled up her heart the more she read her text from last night and continued to Eijiro's reply.

YOU WERE ALMOST KILLED?! I SHOULD HAVE BEEN WITH YOU! That bastard wouldn't have known what hit him! One reply said before another one, judging by the time difference, appeared not a few seconds after the other in the message history.

Don't worry, Uviel! Stay strong, Yukimura is just as strong and I'm sure everything will turn out smoothly! Just leave it to the pros, they'll find her. Who was this acquaintance you mentioned? his question was never answered, after that.

After the hard laughter over poor Bakugo's hair returning to normal and his raging fit spiking, a minute passed and Eijiro ran over to her with worry clear on his face. "Uviel, you didn't answer my question last night, what happened?" his question nearly made her jolt and drop her game device...

Quickly, before it hit the floor, she caught it and allowed a sigh to escape. "I fell asleep, sorry. H- His name's Wani Kyoshi, I don't much about him other than the fact that he's an acquaintance of Haru's," Pink tints dusted her cheeks when she answered, she tried her best not to blush at his approach but she failed miserably.

"An acquaintance, huh? Well, a friend of Haru's is a friend of mine!" his toothy grin and beaming aura seemed contagious since the cybergirl couldn't help but giggle with her head lowering. "Oh! Um, I... Wanted to ask you if-" Suddenly, a moments' pause ensued, and a deep, respectful bow from the boy was given to the girl; a beet-red face and determined eyes confused Uviel to no end. "Will you eat lunch with me on the roof?" no one really paid any mind to the deeply bowing boy and never, did he notice the girl's embarrassment on her face.

"W- What? Um- S- Sure? Okay, w- who else is coming?" Taken aback by his sudden move, her eyes lit up with surprise when he stood back up and shook his head.

"J- Just us, please?" This time, he looked everywhere else but her to try and hide his red cheeks, while a hand nervously rubbed the back of his head the whole time.

"Y- Yeah, I don't...mind," Now they were both avoiding eye contact, in fear of each other noticing either ones' embarrassment.

However, inside of Eijiro's mind, the boy kept fist-pumping and cheering out his success with comical tears cascading down his cheeks. "Thanks!" A thumbs-up was all he gave her and a radiant smile that never fails to shine. He saw a cute smile grace her lips and shy away from his brilliant glow, he couldn't help but gush over her small and adorable self.

"Hey, Saito!" From a few desks away, a pink hand waved to gain UV-Ray's attention and was successful. When Mina saw a pair of blue eyes peek up at her, curiosity beamed on her face before she asked... "I heard from Kirishima this morning before you got here, that the Hitman tried to kill you and you saw Haru again. Are you okay?" Mina trekked over to the lighter redhead with pure worry in her voice.

She wasn't alone, Mina had just finished talking with Kyoka and Tsuyu, who both chose to watch the two converse. "I- I'm... Fine. Mr. Aizawa said that the Principal knew the perfect hero to contact, who'll take care of the Hitman. I wonder who it is..." her words trailed off at the end when her eyes averted.

~~~Elsewhere~~~
"So, this kid- Hitoshi, will help me find this guy...?" From on top of a high-rise structure, only a pair of frowning lips could be seen. A flaming mustache and beard concealed most of his face as his blue eyes viewed passing citizens below. To his ear, was his phone as he spoke to the Principal and took a mental note of the boy's name.
"Fine, but I'll make sure he doesn't get in my way," After answering an inaudible question from Nezu, a simple click of a button on his cell ended the call and it was soon placed into its holder. "How strong is this guy, that he claims I'm only able to defeat him?" Flaming arms folded against his chest in thought. "Serpentine, hm? Using Hitoshi as bait to lure that villain out is very risky, but if it's to defeat that killer then I have no other option," a click of his tongue, proved how irritated he was about the idea.
