Parents Weekend: Part 3
Hiro ducked as another laser flew past, blowing up something behind him. Steamer had really outdone himself with this latest mech, as there wasn't an obvious weak spot or advantage to exploit like previous models. Fred especially was impressed.
"Armor is too strong…" he bounded to avoid a missile. "Power source is well protected." Another roll to dodge a laser strike. "And since it's a giant snake, there's no legs to take out. There's not even an obvious boss weakness to attack when he's stunned! I'm outta ideas, Hiro!"
"Globby, Go Go, how's that immobilization coming?" Hiro asked, exasperated.
"No good, Hiro. It's too strong!" Go Go answered, the irritation evident in her voice.
"Every time we get it locked down it just manages to break free again!" Globby confirmed. "I'm running out of sticky substances to throw at this guy."
"Not to mention we can't get close enough to take out his weapon systems!" Fred added. Hiro was about to tell Fred that he wasn't being helpful when Abigail joined the conversation.
"Heads up, Cobra is heading your way. I would've stopped her, but I've got some nosey journalist trying to get too close to the action."
"Thanks for the heads up, Abigail." Hiro looked behind him, spotting Cobra charging up the street. Spotting the sack she was carrying, Hiro motioned for Baymax to turn around and focus on her. "What's in the bag, Cobra?"
"Just a little trip down memory lane!" Cobra stopped and spun around a few times, finally letting go of the sack. It flew towards the gathered heroes and opened, letting out a dozen or so live cobras. Very angry cobras. The team scattered out of the way as the snakes began slithering around, two of them hissing at one another.
"Ophiophagus Hannah, commonly known as the King Cobra, is quite venomous. I advise caution." Baymax warned.
"How'd you even get them in the bag?!" Go Go asked as she skated around one.
"Pheromones, darling. This isn't my first time wrangling snakes."
"It's true!" Fred said as two began backing him into a corner. "Heathcliff said that she used to use live snakes all the time!"
"Eww!" Globby shivered. "Not a snake person."
Cobra chuckled and calmly walked over to the giant mech. She tapped a hidden button on the armor and a hatch opened up, allowing her to walk in. She climbed a ladder up into the cockpit where Steamer greeted her with a raised brow. "I thought you wanted to stay out of the spotlight this time?"
"Well, you did such a good job distracting them that I had the time to complete our primary objective and swing by the zoo for a little shopping spree. I must admit, you've helped me remember my roots. It feels nice going a little bit retro."
"And these modern thing-a-ma-jigs are making me regret not upgrading years ago!" Steamer laughed as he got target lock on Baymax. He hit the button to initiate the launch sequence, and a missile flew toward the hovering duo. Hiro noticed it first and pointed in a panic.
"Baymax look out!"
"Ohh noo." Was all Baymax could say, as there wasn't enough time to dodge. Thankfully they didn't need to. Right when the missile got in range, Karmi flew in with a raised holoshield and blocked the missile. As the smoke cleared from the explosion, Hiro coughed as he noticed Karmi.
"Karmi?! What are you doing here? What about your parents?"
"They made their decision before they even got here, Hiro. So let's just not even talk about it and kick Steamer's butt, ok?"
Hiro thought about saying something comforting, but it wasn't the time. Instead he nodded grimly and began laying things out. "Steamer's upgraded past anything we've seen from him before. Lots of his tech is still old fashioned, but his armor is thick enough that we can't penetrate it to get inside."
"I've got a few ideas on how to handle that. Where's Globby?"
"Right here!" Globby waved from the ground, spraying down a slithering cobra with gunk to keep it in place as he did so. Karmi conjured up several gigantic holographic syringes and lowered them to Globby's height.
"Fill these up with fluoroantimonic acid. I think I can at least get the armor opened up with this."
"Fluoro-what now kind of acid?" Globby asked. Go Go slid in and quickly punched in chemical combos on the chem purse, handing it off to Globby.
"Don't worry, just copy this. You might want a chemistry crash-course when this is over."
"You're telling me." Globby said. As the purse began dumbing liquid into one of the open holo syringes, Globby dipped his hand into it so he could mimic the chemical makeup by instinct. When he had it down, he shut off the chem purse and started spewing acid into the syringes at a much faster pace, quickly filling them up. With the last of the cobras contained in gelatinous traps, Karmi nodded to Hiro and began their new counterattack.
"Alright Steamer, it's time for your pet snake to have its shots." Karmi said as she raised the syringes up. Throwing her hands forward, the syringes flew through the air and managed to impale the mech in several areas. With another flick of her wrist, the syringes began pushing the acid into the mech, melting the armor from the inside out. Warning alarms blared inside the cockpit as Steamer struggled to compensate for the quickly deteriorating hull.
"Impossible! We're losing systems left and right! What did that girl throw at us?"
"I don't know, but I know how we can stop it." Cobra answered, manually activating one of the laser turrets. With the target locked, Cobra hit the fire button, but nothing happened. Enraged, Cobra pulled up a diagnostic display and was shocked to see that Fred had stuffed the barrel full of snakes. Fred gave Hiro a thumbs up and jumped clear of the rapidly disintegrating mech.
"Ok, let's shut this thing down for good. Abigail?" Hiro asked. Abigail appeared next to Hiro and Baymax, wobbling just a bit. "Ready to make the last jump count?"
"Just tell me what to do." She answered. Hiro tossed her a magnetic disk.
"We'll fly you over so you can crawl into one of the openings. Find the main computer systems and plant this on it."
"Let's do it." Abigail said as she climbed onto Baymax behind Hiro. The robot launched into the air and flew over the target. Several functioning laser turrets tried to shoot them down, but the damaged caused their accuracy to go down drastically. Baymax flew in low and Abigail leapt off the robot, rolling across the mech and jumping into the largest hole she could find. Carefully dodging sparking wires and dripping acid, Abigail found the main computers and slapped Hiro's disk onto it. A moment later she was back outside and holding onto a wall to catch her breath. Done for the day, she held a thumbs up. Hiro nodded at her and activated the disk from afar. The mech's weak attempts to fight back suddenly stopped as it slumped forward. Steamer bashed the control console as it went dark, enraged.
"No! Not my precious new baby!"
Cobra sighed. "The backup should still work, right?"
"Yes…" Steamer grumbled before he yanked on an overhead lever. The team of heroes watched as a hatch opened up in the mech's head and the two villains shot out of it, flying on Steamer's glider. Karmi tried to grab it with an oversized holographic hand, but missed, as the device was just too fast. Karmi hovered down to the ground and dissipated her holographic jetpack, glaring at the escaping villains. Fred came up and threw and arm around her shoulders.
"Look on the bright side, Karmi. At least we've got this cool new Steamer mech to study!" A sickening sound of metal sliding against metal cut through the air as the mech crumbled in on itself thanks to all the damage from the acid. Fred grimaced behind his costume and took a few awkward steps away. Surprisingly, Karmi just laughed. Hiro put a hand on her shoulder and she turned around and hugged him. As her laughter died down she looked over Hiro's shoulder to the rest of the team beginning to coordinate with animal control and the police.
"I'm going to really miss this…" she said quietly.
"Karmi?" Padme's voice called. Hiro and Karmi let go of one another and turned to find both Harold and Padme standing a few feet away. Abigail shrugged apologetically from where she was slouched against a nearby building, still exhausted, and unable to keep the perimeter back. Her parents took a slow look around the scene and then focused back on the two teens. Finally, Padme spoke again. "I think we need to talk."
Hours passed. Once the mess was cleaned up most of the team retired to their homes to rest. But the night was just getting started at the Lucky Cat. Multiple pots of tea were brewed, consumed, and replaced. Aunt Cass even served a light dinner as everyone talked. Hiro and Karmi had long changed out of their armor and sat in the Hamada living room, discussing every detail that Karmi's parents could think to ask about. Baymax stood on standby, not saying anything and observing the entire conversation. Cass interjected a time or two to explain her side of things when needed, but otherwise stayed out of it. Harold slumped back in his seat, trying to take in all the information that had been presented to him.
"So… you found out during the giant holographic man rampage?" he asked. Hiro and Karmi nodded.
"Yes." Karmi answered.
"And… you helped stop a cataclysmic event from destroying the entire city a few weeks back." Padme stated, testing to see if she understood everything correctly.
"We couldn't have done it without her." Hiro confirmed.
"Why though?" Padme asked.
"Why what?" Hiro inquired, confused.
"Why involve her in this?" Padme clarified. "Why couldn't you have just let her continue on as is and leave her out of the superhero stuff?"
"I know you don't want to hear it, but this was inevitable, mom." Karmi said before Hiro could say anything. "My life hasn't been the same since I started at Sycorax. I unknowingly put myself in a dangerous position and didn't listen to reason when I was warned to stay away because I was too stubborn. And I paid the price for that."
"That wasn't your fault, Karmi." Harold assured her.
"My fault? No. But it could've been prevented if I'd listened. So whether I was on the team or not, I was already in the middle of the 'superhero stuff'. Now though, I'm not just watching it all on the sidelines. I can make sure nothing like that happens to me or anyone else every again. It's why I built the glove and its why I joined the team in the first place."
"And that's… very noble." Padme finally said. "But you shouldn't have to do this. You're only seventeen. You shouldn't have to worry about supervillains or city-wide threats. You deserve a normal life, and that's why your father and I want you to come home with us."
"Mom, I don't know if you noticed, but I've never been normal. I advanced to the eleventh grade randomly one day in middle school, I started college at fifteen, and I was mutated into a horrific monster by my boss at sixteen. My life has been anything but normal."
"I know, sweetie." Padme sighed. "Let me rephrase. We know you've had a different upbringing than most kids, but your father and I just want what's best for you. You have such a bright future ahead of you, and we don't want it to be cut short by something outside of our control."
"But that's life, mom! You can't just hide from it. Sometimes things happen that you have no control over and it can be hard, but it's not worth hiding from everything. Don't you want me to be happy?"
Padme opened her mouth to speak but Harold beat her to it. "Of course we do."
"Then let me stay!"
"While we want you to be happy, we also want you to be as safe as practically possible, and I don't see how fighting supervillains is being safe."
"I'm not doing it alone. We're called Big Hero SIX for a reason. And it's really Big Hero 6 plus a few, Go Go isn't even officially on the team anymore but she came out today to help anyway. Please, please, I can't go back to the way things were this summer. For the first time I realized what I was missing by being alone and I can't go back to that." Karmi was almost on the verge of tears and Hiro scooted closer to her to wrap an arm around her shoulder and squeeze her closer. Baymax looked between the two and then at Karmi's parents.
"May I interject?" he offered. Harold and Padme jumped slightly, having forgotten that Baymax was even there, or that he could talk.
"Um… sure?" Harold answered.
"In the time that I have known Karmi, I have studied her closely and performed many scans."
"Scans? Why have you been scanning her?" Padme asked, alarmed.
"I am a personal healthcare companion. I regularly scan all potential patients to better assist them should it be required. I have scanned you and Harold twenty-three times in the last four hours." Padme and Harold looked between one another uneasily but let Baymax continue. "While Karmi is overall healthy for an adolescent female, up until recently, she was usually showcasing signs of aggression or agitation in the presence of other people. While this can be an indicator of many things, I believe that Karmi was not receiving an adequate amount of time with friends or peers that she could relate to."
"I was really lonely for a long time…" Karmi admitted.
"While each individual develops in their own unique way, it is important for children and adolescents to be around others that they relate to so they can become more well-rounded and develop into adults. Before her mutation, Karmi was isolated, and not dealing with her loneliness in a healthy way."
Padme scoffed. "There's no way you can possibly-"
"He's right, mom." Karmi interrupted. "I lashed out at others that tried to get close, wrote fanfiction, and bullied Hiro to make myself feel good. It wasn't right to lash out or bully Hiro, and I wasn't using my writing in the healthiest of ways, which is one of the reasons why I stopped. I didn't need it to fill that void anymore."
"Because you started being friends with the real Big Hero 6." Her father said.
"Purely coincidental. Hiro and his friends would have probably taken me in whether they were superheroes or not."
"Once Karmi and Hiro put aside their differences, both her attitude and mental health improved dramatically. Her serotonin levels are up fifty-two percent compared to this time last year. I believe that she has also begun to sleep better, as evidence by the general lack of fatigue and improvement in mood."
"You weren't sleeping well before?" Hiro asked. "I didn't know that."
"We didn't either." Padme said.
"Well the cafeteria offers free coffee, so I'd have a cup in the morning and then have a nap after my shift at Sycorax." Karmi shrugged. "I thought I was getting by fine."
"Hiro's general level of stress has also gone down considerably when Karmi is nearby. While he still has more stress than most teenagers his age, Karmi has helped calm him down rapidly upon interaction. While you are her parents, and ultimately have final say over her decisions until she turns eighteen, I believe it would not be in the best interests of either Hiro or Karmi if she were to move away from SFIT."
"Even with the dangers in the city?" Harold asked.
"While San Fransokyo is statistically more hazardous than other cities thanks to the rise of supervillain activity in the last year and a half, my data indicates that Karmi is safer than most other citizens living in the city. If something were to happen, or if she were to be attacked, Karmi can easily defend herself and others. Removing her from the city would not only be a detriment to her overall health, but to the rest of the population as well. Karmi being off the team would limit our overall effectiveness by One-Sixth, potentially leading to more injuries and property damage that would otherwise be preventable."
"Is the robot really saying that the city would be more dangerous without Karmi in it?"
"I mean… you can't argue with the math, right?" Hiro asked quietly. Harold raised an eyebrow and shot Hiro a look, but everyone could see the gears turning in his head. Padme especially took notice.
"Harold?"
"You have to admit this complicates things." He said. "We're not just talking about her health and safety anymore. What if we bring her home and something happens to someone else's kid because ours wasn't here to save them?"
Padme stood up, unable to process what her husband was saying. "No. No! You can't actually… she's our baby, Harold!"
"I know, but she's not a child anymore. She's young but she's in college, Padme. We knew this was going to happen eventually. I think… I think it might be best if she stays. You have to admit the robot has a point. When has she ever fought this hard for something? These friends must mean an awful lot to her if she's this scared of being taken away from them."
Padme staggered a half step back. Her breathing began to quicken, and she managed to whisper out "What about us?"
Harold wrapped his wife in a hug and squeezed her. "I'm scared too. And I know you are. But she has to grow up sometime."
"No…" Padme struggled out of Harold's grip. "I can't… I can't go through this again."
Before anyone could say anything, she retreated down into the café, which Cass had thankfully closed early. The aunt went after Karmi's mother as Harold sighed and slumped down in his chair, hanging his head in his hands. Karmi paused, having noticed something that her mother had said. "Dad… what did mom mean by again?"
Harold removed his head from his hands and looked up at Karmi. Tears were welling up in his eyes as he sniffed loudly. He sat up and cleared his throat, looking at his daughter. "Karmi… there's something your mother and I haven't ever told you."
"What?" Karmi asked.
"You… you're not our only child." The shock in the room was palpable as everyone sat there, stunned. Harold cleared his throat before moving on. "You had an older brother. We lost him when he was very young and before you were born. It wasn't anyone's fault, there wasn't an accident or anything, it just… happened. But when you were born we swore that we wouldn't lose another child. And when that phone call from the police came in about the incident at Sycorax, we…"
Harold stopped to compose himself. Baymax quietly shuffled over and offered him a tissue box. Harold gladly took one and blew his nose into it. Hiro just held onto Karmi's hand watching as her eyes moved around as she processed the new information. Finally she spoke. "What… what was his name?"
"Mine." Harold answered. "We called him junior for short."
"Why haven't you ever told me about this?"
"Your mom doesn't like to relive it. For her, I don't know, it may sometimes just be easier to forget. But have you ever noticed how she gets around the seventh of June?" Karmi nodded. "That was his birthday. It's hard to forget that."
"For a parent, the loss of a child is often times very traumatic. I am sorry for your loss." Baymax said. Karmi let go of Hiro's hand and stood up, walking over to her father. She bent down and hugged him, squeezing hard.
"I'm sorry I didn't know…"
"No, no. We should've told you ages ago. But now you might understand why we're a little extra protective. We couldn't stand the thought of losing you, which is why we wanted you home with us. But the robot is right. You've really come into your own at SFIT and with Hiro and the rest of your friends. At some point we should've realized that you can handle yourself, but I think today really helped with that."
"So… I can stay?" Karmi asked hopefully. Harold laughed dryly and let go of his daughter.
"If it were up to me alone, yes. But I think there's someone else you need to talk to." Karmi nodded and walked down into the café after her mother. Cass sat with Padme, holding onto her hand as the woman cried onto a table. The mascots had their heads poking out of the kitchen to try and eavesdrop, but a killer look from Karmi sent them scuttling back behind the counter.
"Can I talk to my mom alone for a minute, Aunt Cass?" Karmi asked. Cass nodded.
"Sure thing, honey. We'll be upstairs if you need us." Cass left the café and Karmi took the recently vacated seat next to her mother. Padme sniffed and wiped her nose, looking up at her.
"Sorry. You shouldn't see me like this."
"It's ok. Dad… he told me about my… brother." Karmi struggled to get the words out. Padme's face drained of color at that, fresh tears already beginning to fill her eyes. "And I get why you didn't tell me. But… I really love it here, mom. SFIT is a great school, I get to have fun hanging out with friends for the first time since I was like eight, and I… really like Hiro. I wish we got to live in a world where we didn't have to worry about supervillains trying to destroy the city like every nine weeks, but we can handle it. I can handle it. I love you and dad soooo much, but I actually feel like I belong here. You guys will always be my family, but I've got other family too now, you know?"
Padme nodded tearfully and wrapped Karmi in a hug. She hugged back and the two of them squeezed one another as tight as they could. Between sobs, Padme managed to speak. "I am so proud of you. I'm sorry that I wanted you to move back home and away from your friends, but I couldn't stand the thought of losing you too. I should've realized sooner that you had grown up, though and let you make the decision yourself. You are the best daughter anyone could have asked for, and I'm sorry for being selfish."
"You weren't. You were just being a mom." Karmi said. The two separated and sat there for a moment to collect themselves. "You ok?"
Padme nodded. "Yes. Now, let's go tell everyone the good news."
The two walked up the steps into the living area where everyone sat waiting. Karmi cleared her throat to catch their attention and they quickly looked at the two. Karmi turned to her mother. "Mom has something she'd like to say."
"Well… upon discussing it further, and based on what I've heard tonight, I think it will be fine if Karmi remains in the city. It doesn't mean I won't worry, but I know now that she's a big girl who can take care of herself."
Hiro and Cass visibly relaxed as Harold stood up to hug his wife. "You did the right thing, honey."
"Thank you so much." Hiro said. "I'll do my best to take care of her, I promise."
"And I'll do my best to take care of you." Karmi said, interlocking her arm with Hiro's. "We watch each other's backs. All six of our backs."
Padme hummed in approval. "Welcome to the family, Hiro."
Hiro gasped in surprise as he was suddenly pulled into a hug by Padme and Harold. Karmi giggled and joined in. Cass helped Baymax maneuver around the living room furniture so he could join in, creating one big group hug in the middle of the living room. Hiro and Karmi smiled at one another amidst the hug. Finally, Karmi was home for good.
Many Years Later…
Harold knocked on the door to the recovery room and opened it slightly. "Knock, knock."
Baymax opened the door the rest of the way. A sash had been lazily thrown over him that read "It's a boy!" in Fred's messy handwriting. Thankfully, the loud bagillionare was nowhere to be seen and the room was quiet. Baymax waved at the new grandparents and led them into the room. They turned a corner to find a tired but happy looking Hiro and Karmi obsessing over a tiny figure in a bundle of blankets. Padme tried to keep her squeal contained as she approached her grandson, who was sleeping in Karmi's arms. Karmi smiled at her mom and motioned to her newborn son.
"Want to hold him?" she asked quietly. Padme nodded enthusiastically and took a seat on the bed next to Karmi. The bundle was carefully transferred, allowing the grandparents a better look at the baby. Traits from both his parents were already visible in his features, and the grandparents were immediately smitten. Harold smiled and looked up at the proud parents, standing in front of a pile of baby gifts from their various friends, including a stuffed bear half the size of Baymax.
"What's his name?" Harold asked. Karmi smiled and took Hiro's hand, their matching wedding rings clinking together softly. She looked up at him and nodded, giving Hiro the go-ahead.
"Tadashi Harold Hamada." Hiro answered, emotion breaking out in his voice. "We named him after our brothers."
Baymax quickly walked over with yet another box of tissues, and a reminder that everyone should stay hydrated. Normally he'd be concerned with this amount of crying in such a short time, but his healthcare matrix decided that it was normal in such a situation. Besides, these weren't sad tears anyway. They were happy tears, and those were the best kind.
Notes
I'm going to be honest, this one got away from me a bit and I have no clue where half of it came from, lol. My original intention for this was to be a 5K or less comedic romp in the vein of a Season 3 eleven minute episode about Karmi trying to keep her involvement with Big Hero 6 a secret from her parents. Instead what we got was a 15K story with lots of drama, and a couple laughs for levity that I decided to split into three parts. Looking at Part 1 and sections of Part 2, I feel like it's pretty evident that comedy was the original plan here. Hiro and Karmi's panic over the visit is a little overexaggerated for comedic purposes; the scene of a giant robot cobra dragging Hiro, Baymax, and co by the restaurant but neither of the parents see it is something straight out of a show like "Phineas & Ferb"; and I even made Steamer the villain since he's typically used more comedically. The original plan was for her parents never to find out and be convinced that she could stay, and I'd eventually make a full 11-minute animatic to go with. However as I started writing... that idea just felt off, and I quickly switched gears into more dramatic territory.
I went back and rewrote several sections so there wouldn't be tonal whiplash and focused on the dynamic between Karmi and her parents. Obviously they never actually appear in the show and Granville only mentions them. They sorta appear in "Sophomore Slump" via text and only as "Mom" and "Dad" without delving too much into their individual personalities. The ultimatum they give Karmi in Chapter 29 was the initial inspiration for this set of Patch Notes and I added the idea to my list. So months down the line when I finally got to writing this, the option to really focus on the family dynamic and WHY her parents are so overprotective was too good an opportunity to pass up. So I shifted and worked on really getting into both parents as characters a little, coming up with names and jobs, and providing some hints to Karmi's upbringing that hadn't really been stated before, even here in Patch Notes.
And another on-the-fly change as I was writing was the big family twist, and... I'm very interested to see how you all respond to it. Your daughter being mutated into a monster and attending school in a city overrun with supervillains is probably motivation enough to want her to move away forever and come home. But something about having it JUST be that felt a little... ordinary? Been there done that? I felt like there needed to be a little more too it than that, and I didn't even know what I was typing as it happened. So I was just as surprised as all of you by the older brother that died as a baby revelation and really REALLY debated about whether or not to go through with it. On one hand it further ties Hiro and Karmi together emotionally and continues a common theme from BH6 about how to properly process your grief. On the other, I can easily see it being a bit much. So overall I'm happy with how this turned out, but I will say this is probably the biggest thing I've written so far that I've been unsure about how it would be received. Rishi just being really obnoxious in the main story is the closest thing to me being uncertain about how reception would turn out, but I knew he'd shape up in the end and its part of his character arc. This though... well, you miss all the shots you don't take. So I hope it wasn't too much and doesn't feel weird in the overall story, since I try to stick to the tone and canon of the movie/show as much as possible and I know lots of you reading appreciate that. So I eagerly await your reviews.
And before we go... gotta talk briefly about "Baymax!" getting a trailer. Overall I liked it. However, I did receive multiple messages saying this confirms that "The Series" in no longer canonical and... I haven't seen anything that would suggest that. A Twitter/Tumblr account that spits out news regarding Animated Disney TV content has been pointed out to me making this claim, and I've seen the post(s), but I think that bit of info is dubious at best. First off, it's a fan-run account and not actually affiliated with Disney. Second, they don't post a link to an interview with a creator on "Baymax!" making this claim and I haven't been able to find one either. Third, all we know about the show is what's in the trailer. We don't have a release date, we don't have a full cast, and I haven't even been able to find social media accounts for those that we know are on the crew. So based on what little we DO actually know about the show, I don't think we should be writing off "The Series" as non-canon yet just because "Baymax!" is going back to the film's animation. It could take place after the movie and decanonize "The Series" like some think, or maybe "Baymax!" is the non-canon show that's just trying to have some fun robot antics. As of now, we just don't know, so let's not go jumping to conclusions. My personal theory as of now is that "Baymax!" takes place DURING the movie in the time when Hiro is working on his microbots for the student showcase with Tadashi, since he was completed by that time. So if that's the case, then outside of something really obtuse, both "The Series" and "Baymax!" can canonically exist with one another, so let's just calm down and be patient.
Now if someone does have a link to an article where someone working on the show or an EP or something makes the claim that "Baymax!" is the true sequel to the movie and "The Series" isn't canon, then I'll read that for myself and probably admit defeat. But like I said, I looked around and couldn't find anything like that, so...
No matter what happens though, I'll still be here for the time being. Thanks for reading "Parents Weekend", and I'll hopefully have more for you soon!
