Sakura Haruno gets reincarnated and the world lands into chaos. Shota just needs more coffee...
Story told in short-drabbles
Sasuke. Where are you now?
Sasuke.
Me? Right now, I'm...
.
Sakura arrived at Sunagakure. The sun was blazing hot and the wind moved the sand along with it. If it wasn't for the permanent cold water supply she had with her, she would be dead on the ground by now but she had a mission to complete.
For the children. Yes, for the children.
Poor traumatized children, fresh out of war and a cry for help...that's what kept her going.
She dragged herself towards the huge walls surrounding the village. They were enormous for sure, even bigger than Konoha's. The security had always been tight in Sunagakure. It had increased even more during Gaara's reign. From the assassination attempts to rebels, sometimes it felt like the peace was only a short-lasted word, and making sure it wasn't was one hell of a job.
As she walked forward, a figure appeared out of nowhere in her sight. A tall black, lean figure she could recognize anywhere. A figure she always adored.
"Sasuke-kun?" Sakura exclaimed, now running toward said person who had called her annoying. Then told her, she was strong, now recognized her for her strength and in the end, said thank you. A thank you, according to Ino, she actually deserved. It was like a dream coming true for her.
"You are annoying"
"Thank you"
He caught her in his arms as she embraced him freely, his eyes softened and he smiled at her. She did the same, looking up at him.
"Sakura. What are you doing here?" He asked after a moment.
"Just an errand" She answered quickly "Suna's children need help too y'know"
Something flashed in Sasuke's eyes at that moment, something akin to pride and Sakura couldn't help but beam. He didn't question her further rather remaining quiet as they now walked together inside the village, a little too close for just being friends.
Her hands touched his and Sakura couldn't help the bubbling feeling inside of her, a blush appeared on her face. Thankfully, Sasuke didn't seem to notice. They slowly made their way to the nearby park, looking at the children who played there and sat on the bench.
"What about you, Sasuke-kun? What brings you here?" She asked.
Sasuke's reply was vague but she knew something was going on "I felt like coming here..."
"You felt?"
"Yeah"
Sakura 'hmm'ed" and made no further comment. It was always like that, Her asking questions and Sasuke giving vague answers, but that too only happened when something was troubling Sasuke, which was like, always.
Sakura rolled her eyes.
"The war is really over, huh?" Muttered Sasuke bedside her, watching the children play
"Yeah. After so much fighting finally, we achieved peace. I-i find it unsettling sometimes" That was a statement from the heart. Sakura hadn't told anyone what she felt in that matter.
Sasuke's eyes widened "Why is that?" He asked, she winced slightly at his tone.
"I-i don't know, Sasuke-kun. Something just doesn't feel right, like, it's missing. The world is missing something, and my heart is too. It's all so-"
"Lonely" Sasuke finished for her, her eyes too widened.
"You feel that way too?" She asked. How...? That was unexpected.
Sakura received no reply in return, just a short 'hn' in a polite way. Her eyebrows rose a little as she slowly moved closer to him, not to close but enough to show her concern. She placed a comforting hand on his shoulder.
"I sometimes-" Sakura started "When it was wartime, people were always by your side and I am not too sure, I mean, people might think me selfish for that but now everyone is moving on, except me and it's like-its like..." She didn't feel like continuing.
Sasuke just stared at her for a while, which made her fidget under his gaze and then finally 'hn'ed'. Sakura gave a breathless laugh. So much for sharing her feelings...
They stared forward for a while, letting their guard down for once. It was a pleasant experience, just the two of them in an unknown place, sitting together just like in a vacation or a...or a date. Her heart rate increased just thinking about it.
Sakura looked at him once more, she frowned as she realized his face seemed to be frozen, frozen in... Shock?
"Sasuke?" She asked. There was no reply in return.
"Sasuke-kun..?
"Can you hear me?"
"What...?"
The world around her suddenly started disappearing. Sasuke's hand, which she had only just squeezed a second before slipped from her grasp.
Sasuke seemed to come to his senses at that moment, his eyes widened and he shouted her name but this time Sakura was the one who couldn't respond. Frozen in fear, she watched as Sasuke disappeared from her sight. Slowly dissolving into the darkness that surrounded them both. Her hands reached out to grab him…
She knew no more...
Sakura woke up with a gasp.
A dream.
It was all a dream yet still...it had felt all too real.
.
Sasuke. Where are you?
Why can I feel you so close?
Sasuke.
Me? I'm...
