He was invited to a party this weekend. Izuku looked at the pearl invitation with his name neatly embossed in fine script. Carved black scroll lined the edges and in the bottom right corner was a glossy, lace Colombina mask, indicating the details that it was an in fact, a Masquerade party. It was his birthday that same night and he would usually be found here, at home, perched up doing something with a fat glass of one of his finer wines. He wasn't even sure whose home he was being invited to. The return address for the RSVP invitation hadn't included a name and when he searched the address online, there were absolutely no details on the property which was a bit strange. The paper and print was of utmost quality and judging by the hidden details of the property, it was definitely a very private event, and a very nice one at that.
On the back were two check boxes for responding Yes or No and in bold lettering underneath said NO +1. He didn't have a plus one so that wasn't an issue. He sighed. He would be 25 and honestly, the idea of a regular party completely blew right over his head, he could care less. But a secret, private and anonymous masquerade party? That sounded really fun... and kind of sexy. He walked to the kitchen and opened a drawer, grabbing a blue pen, he checked Yes RSVPand initialed next to it in neat script. He walked close to his elevator and slipped the invitation in his mail chute. This would be a treat for him this year. He was completely happy in his alone time but... he felt it was time to change things up. Last year he and his lovely mother had a wonderful dinner together with her newly found boyfriend. It was the first man she'd ever asked to invite. Hell it was the first man she'd ever sincerely expressed serious feelings for. She hadn't dated in over 10 years and didn't feel the need to. But she told me how he ran into her at the supermarket one day knocking the basket out of her hands and her vegetables flying everywhere and when he grabbed her arms to make sure she didn't fall, they both felt the buzzing of electricity between them without even looking at each other yet. It was a quick accident, he just grabbed the woman to make sure she didn't fall back and then he actually looked at her, they looked at each other and she said she hadn't felt that feeling in so long... since dad.
He'd asked her if she wanted to use his quirk on her to see if her thread was in fact illuminated once again with a new Thread, but she politely declined and said that she didn't care about the thread, and knowing if it was or was not there would only give her something to worry about. His mother didn't want to obsess. She just wanted to be happy naturally. He had known completely what she meant.
Having Threads quirk wasn't all that beautiful or magical all the time.
In his business, he's seen more heartbreak that he could imagine. And it made him sad a lot of the times. Through the years of his business he often saw that couples and individuals who were already in love and some of them married, to find out that they were not each others true loves. He found that some of them got divorced, some of their soul mates were their spouses best friends and cheated, and some of them were their enemies and they'd sworn death before being happy with them. Which only causes further anguish to ones soul. What his quirk gave in happiness, also took away that same amount of happiness. It was a crucial balance, one that Izuku had to separate himself from, or he would lose himself to the drowning despair he sometimes saw his clients fall into.
But he was special, part of the 15, and the people desperately wanted to use his quirk for themselves. And in this world, he unfortunately was able to monetize from it, to have a good life, but, it was always because they sought him out. But he provided a good service.
Yes, the heartbreak is real. But the happiness that followed after finding their actual destined partners always outweighed and that's how he stayed on top of the feelings.
He'd told her about all his crazy days at the studio. Izuku needed to get some of the things off his chest, so mom knew about all of the people who had become obsessive, and critical that they can only be with their destined. They didn't care that they had lived 15 happy and fabulous years with someone to turn around, divorce, and destroy their happy life just because the knowledge was out there that they could find The One. But, that was why he was so well off. His quirk was useless to the big guys who wanted to run profitable businesses internationally. But his quirk with the public eye was tremendous. When the UQA deemed that it was safer for the public eye to know who exactly had a quirk and what it did, is when he had become sort of famous with the day to day average person.
When his mother came up the idea that he create an art studio based on his Quirk, he ran with it. He was so young when the idea was brought up that he planned it for years until he was 18 and could officially submit his business proposal and created their dream in a small corner of a local shopping plaza. When he updated his ID profile to include Threads of Fate, his mission and goals, he was mostly busy with inquiries of curious individuals who wanted to understand a little more. He thanked the heavens that his mother made him learn to speak English as well. When he was young, she said the International Database was all around the world and that most of the world speaks English, and that if his business did take off, he would not just get locals, but the people of the world would come to him, and she was damn right.
The first person to call him was a man from Saudi Arabia, his name was Asif. He wanted to marry, but also be happy and he did not want to marry for business. He was young man and his business was already at its peak and he didn't need extra ties. He wanted to have a family, he wanted to have love in his life and in less than 2 days, the man was walking into his shop with a mass of body guards. Izuku was scared shitless but the man was all smiles and very friendly. His men however, they were dark, broody and towering over his much, much smaller frame. They were able to communicate in perfect English and the exchange was incredibly pleasant.
He guided him to a table where perfectly sharpened lead, coal, colored pencils and paper were neatly organized. They both sat, the man waving his guards to not loom and make Izuku nervous.
"Just be comfortable. It's very easy." Izuku smiled and held out his hands. "Please place both hands in mine." He offered a smile.
His client neatly placed both hands in Izuku's awaiting ones. Izuku closed his hold and grasped the man's hands, his eyes closed, immediately catching the image of a beautiful woman with long, wavy, stunning black hair and honey hazel eyes, almond and lightly slanted; her complexion warm and soft. She had a cat like smile, full lips, soft peach.
He was drawing her now, his body autonomously grabbing the correct colors and shades of supplies to capture her exact image.
It usually took about and hour to capture his images and translate them to paper. His quirk made him sketch unusually fast, and he could only do it with his eyes closed. He opened his eyes and rested them on the woman he drew. She was incredible. Izuku smiled looking at Asif's pinkie. His Thread was thick and humming with red vibrancy. Yes, his ties to this woman were strong, and would last a lifetime.
He was not given names, just faces. And when he gave Asif the image, the smile he received was blinding. He was indeed happy of his outcome, he could tell as the man couldn't take his eyes off of the image.
"Do you know her?"
He shook his head no and whispered with his eyes never leaving the paper, "Not yet..."
Just then, another image flashed in his head. It was the same woman, he could tell by the eyes he just drawn. This time she was completely covered up, in her traditional black headscarf. Her eyes the only thing revealed. But this time she had winged eyeliner, accentuating her lovely almond eyes.
"Wait.."
Izuku closed his eyes and began drawing his second illustration, Asif not saying anything, patiently waiting.
Upon completion, he passed it to the man who then gasped.
"You are incredible. Your gift... it is truly a miracle."
In his country, the women were not directly exposed. They were to conceal themselves at all times, so having a picture of her exposed face would be hard for him to find. But when he could see her as she was in public, through her eyes, he might possibly be able to locate her quicker.
His quirk really was amazing.
The man paid him, and paid him overly generous and bid him farewell, declaring that if Izuku ever found himself in his home country to consider him a friend and always welcome in his home.
A month went by with business being decent with the locals, and then suddenly, he didn't know what hit him. He was inundated with masses of people from all over the world who heard about the Saudi Arabian prince who shared a video of himself, with the pictures he drew, and the woman of his life next to him, proclaiming that I, Izuku, was the God of Love himself. The video went viral across the entire world and after that, he had to hire a staff to help him keep up and manage all of the clients and business. He then realized the small studio his mother helped him lease out was just not enough. He planned the next few years very strategically and when he was 21 he moved to the heart of Musutafu, being able to afford an incredibly spacious downstairs studio with a high end loft attached above, and being able to pay his mother back triple what she had originally invested, much to her dismay. Izuku had to force her to accept the money back with his promises that there would be much more in the future.
He eyed the doors next to his room wearily and shrugged walking past it. He tried not to visit the room much, it seemed the last time he was in there was six months ago when the last image flashed through his mind. Since then he'd kept himself away from the room. As his mother warned him, the obsession was real.
