Chapter 4: Middle School Years (Meet Ryu)

A boy with black and red hair was running around in a gym doing some track. As he continued to run, someone was running right past him at high speeds. It wsa Izuku who was training his ki.

"On your left," Izuku said.

The boy kept running around the track. Izuku ran past him again.

"On your left," he said.

"Yea, got it," the boy said, "On my left."

As he continued running, he saw Izuku coming by him again.

"Don't you dare…."

"On your left!" Izuku said.

"COME ON!" he shouted.

The boy soon got a bit tired. Izuku then started running backwards and still running in his lane the same way.

"Heh heh. Hey uh... what's your quirk? Or better yet, what's your name?" Izuku asked.

"I'm Ryu," he said, "and I'm technically quirkless."

"Really? Me too! Well... of course, i'm learning some ki techniques from a book called 'The way of the Dragon', i'm learning ki blasts as well as hand to hand combat as well!" Izuku said. "I'm Izuku by the way."

"Interesting," Ryu said, "you got friends right?"

"Yeah... there's a brunette girl who has a gravity quirk and a guy who's a walking nuke." Izuku said.

"I got a friend too. Let's just say she knows how to give a big helping hand. If you k ow what I mean,"

"Heh heh, i'm assuming that's her quirk?" Izuku asked.

"Yeah. We're still good friends but uh... she's dating that asshole named Neito Monoma. Ugh... hate that guy. I don't even think she's happy with him." Ryu said, "But you got a girl in mind don't ya."

"Yea actually," Izuku said while blushing.

"Oh really? I'm assuming it's that brunette girl you told me about?" Ryu asked.

"No... yes."

"Heh heh. I guess you're just as shy around girls as I am. Even if it is your bestfriend." Ryu said.

"Um... this might be a bit touchy but um... do you... have feelings for this big hand girl?" Izuku asked.

"Heh heh. I guess you're just as shy around girls as I am. Even if it is your bestfriend." Ryu said.

"Um... this might be a bit touchy but um... do you... have feelings for this big hand girl?" Izuku asked.

"Well honestly I do"

"Well, if this guy really is a dick, maybe she'll dump him and you'll have a chance again!" Izuku said, reassuring Ryu.

"One could only hope." Ryu said.

Later on the middle school bell was ringing, and it was time for Ryu's class to start. As he was walking to his class someone snuck behind him. They poked his shoulder. Ryu turned around and saw nobody. He turned around again to see someone by his side. It was none other than his best friend, Itsuka Kendo.

"Hey Ryu!" she said, "How's it hanging?"

"Pretty good so far, finally the last day of school," Ryu answered.

"Tell me about it," Kendo said.

Ryu looked around to make sure a certain 'somebody' wasn't around.

"So uh… where's that noob at?" Ryu asked.

"Oh, if you're talking about Monoma, I dumped him this weekend," Kendo said.

"Huh? Why?" Ryu asked. "Not that i'm happy you did." He mumbled.

"Well... let's just say, we kind of got jumped by wimps and he just ran off telling them that I have more than he does and just ran off. So I texted him saying we're done and that was that." Kendo said, "But not before showing off my martial arts and fighting them off. My god, what did I see in him!"

"Wow, the nerve of that guy," Ryu said, "If I were in his situation I'd protect you."

Kendo chuckled.

"You know I can take care of myself right?" she asked, "I'm not a helpless little girl."

She noticed a book in his pocket.

"What do you got there?" she asked.

"Huh? Oh this," Ryu said, "Ok, if I tell you what it is, you gotta promise to keep it a secret,"

Kendo nodded.

"So you know how I've been able to emit waves of energy from my punches?" Ryu asked to which Kendo nodded, "I learned it all from this book. As it turns out, Ki existed a long time before quirks ever did. After finding out I was quirkless I was in shock for a while. But then someone gave me this book, and now I can be a hero like you one day."

"That's great Ryu!" Kendo said, "On top of that, if you ever get in a scrape and use ki, you won't get in trouble with the law."

"Hehe," Ryu said.

After a long day at school, Ryu was heading into his apartment. He was greeted by someone wearing a hero costume with horns on their head. This was Mt Lady.

"Hey Mom," he said.

"Hey Ryu! How was school?" Mt Lady asked.

"Well it was average but I had Kendo by my side," Ryu said, "How was your debut?"

"Oh, the same old same old bullshit. And the usual arguments Midnight and I have because she's jealous that I have a better ass then she does." Mt. Lady said. "So, when are you gonna confess to that Kendo girl?"

"I may actually confess soon," Ryu said, "She finally dumped that jackass copycat."

"Heh, I'm surprised you didn't ask how I knew she was single again." Mt. Lady said. "I'm also surprised that you weren't so flustered saying that!"

"Uh….."

"HA HA HA! I knew I'd get that face eventually! But how I knew Kendo was single again? Well... let's be honest. She deserves WAY better that THAT guy!" Mt. Lady said.

"Hehe… yea," Ryu commented.

"But seriously. You should really confess to her! I didn't have you two as little kids, cuddling as my wallpaper for nothing!" Mt. Lady said. "Oh you two were so cute together!"

"Sounds like someone else I know," Ryu said.

"Who's that?" Mt Lady asked.

"This kid I met named Izuku Yagi," he answered, "Apparently he's quirkless like me but has an alternate. He uses Ki like I do."

"Well maybe you'll see him again one day," Mt Lady said.

Ryu then went outside to practrice his ki. He started doing some warm ups like punches and kicks to get his body ready. He then envisioned himself facing some crooks. With his eyes closed he started moving left and right as if he were avoiding attacks. He then started throwing a few punches and kicks. Ryu then channeled Ki into his right arm and did a straight punch. He then channeled his hands with Ki once more and punched the ground. In doing so, he emitted a wave of ki blowing something away.

Ryu opened his eyes and saw he accidentally wrecked something.

"Hehe…. Oops," he said.

Extras

This is a new OC in the Ki Hero. His name is Ryu Sarenji. He was born quirkless and was in shock for quite a while. To make matters harder for the boy, when he was 6 years old, his parents were killed by a powerful foe.

He was placed in an orphanage where the owner gave him a special book about Ki. By studying this book, he managed to combine martial arts and the fighting skills of his idol, Buster Wolf. Ryu had also been adopted by the future pro hero Mt Lady. Ryu is a very loyal person to his friends and would do anything to protect them.

With Ki, Ryu is able to channel and emit Ki for ranged attacks (Similar to that of Terry Bogard), and also channel that ki to enhance his physical attacks. He is best friends with Itsuka Kendo.
