Chapter 7: Continuous training
Izuku continued his work while training at the beach and also cleaning up the garbage around. To ensure Izuku didn't overwork himself, Inko sent Ochako to help him. This was a benefit for both of them, as Ochako started to work on improving her quirk as well, while also getting closer to her best friend.
Izuku and Ochako continued to train together for the entrance exams. I'm doing so Izuku improved his ki while Ochako improved her quirk. Izuku was looking at his ki book trying to find out what he was missing.
"Wait a minute... That's it!"
"What's it?" Ochako asked
"So right now I'm only using ki to enhance a certain part of my body like my dad is in a normal state," Izuku said, "But he also has a muscle state. Ki is similar. So I should rather make a state in which my entire body is enhanced."
Izuku channeled ki around his entire body. It was glowing slightly and green sparks were dancing around him. Ochako was amazed that he was able to do this.
"Whoa," she said, "Its like you're making the Ki flow around your entire body and not just a limb."
"Now I just need to use this technique to where I can use it without making myself tired." Izuku said.
"What are you gonna call it though?" Ochako asked.
"Hmmm… Oh I know!" Izuku said, "Full Cowl! Oh, while training yesterday I figured something."
Izuku put his hand in front of him. Suddenly a rock was being moved closer to him. Izuku then forced the rock back, breaking it.
"Wait, you have your mom's quirk!?" Ochako asked, surprised.
"Not exactly," Izuku said, "I've managed to use my ki to mimic her quirk. I can probably do the same for other quirks like Kacchan's, but I'm not entirely sure just yet."
"Deku, you never cease to amaze me," Ochako said.
They continued the training while cleaning up the beach. One morning Toshinori was doing a morning walk. He heard a scream coming from Izuku.
"What has that boy gotten into now?" Toshinori asked.
He rushed over to the scream only to see him standing on top of something. He saw the entire beach had been cleaned up. Not a speck of dirt to be seen anywhere. To say Toshinori was amazed would be an understatement.
"Holy… Stinking… SUPER CRAP!" He said as he buffed up.
Izuku heard this and turned around, seeing his father.
"Oh, hey dad!" Izuku said.
"Izuku my boy, I am truly impressed with your hard work!" Toshinori said as he buffed down.
"That's what you say every day Dad," Izuku said.
"You're perfect!" All might said, "I finally found the one!"
"The one?" Izuku asked
"Izuku, I think you are ready to hold a quirk," Toshinori said.
"Hold a quirk?" Izuku asked confused.
"Let me explain my quirk son. My quirk is a sacred torch that has been passed on from generation to generation. This quirk is called One... for... all." All Might explained.
"One... for... all..." Izuku and Ochako said
"This quirk grants me the power I need to save people with a smile, but there is a hidden factor to it," Toshinori explained, "It can be passed down to another person. Its like a sacred torch that has grown over the years. Your grandmother had this quirk, I had this quirk, and now I pick you Izuku Midoriya as the next wielder of this great power."
Izuku thought long and hard about the decision.
"Thank you dad... but no."
"Haha I knew you'd say... wait, no?"
"It's a real honor Dad, really. But... I don't think it would be fair if I was the one to take your quirk seeing that I'm able to level mountains." Izuku said as he pointed towards a mountain that used to be there at a distance, "But there is someone else who I deem worthy. My best friend Ochako. Actually if it weren't for her I'd be sludge food"
Toshinori smiled at Izuku's decision.
"Well, young Izuku. If you deem her worthy then I will not question it. Since Young Uraraka trained with you, she can atleast withstand the drawbacks that One for All gives off." All Might said.
"I accept sir," Ochako said with a smile.
"Excellent," Toshinori said as he pulled a piece of hair from his head, "Now, Eat this"
Both Izuku and Ochako had the face of confusion seeing this.
"Wait, what?" Ochako asked.
"Well to inherit his power you need to swallow his DNA," Gran Torino said, "You should've seen Toshinori's reaction when your grandmother told him that."
(A few years earlier)
"Be proud Toshinori," Nana Shimura said, "You're much different than those who have had a power in the beginning. You had to earn your power, and now you have."
"Alright," Toshinori said, "So what happens now?"
Nana then took a piece of her hair and gave it to Toshinori.
"Eat this!" She said.
"Eh...?" Toshinori said as he started to think it was a prank.
"Well to pass the power on, you have to swallow my DNA apparently," Nana said
"Well... alright then..." Toshinori then took the hair and ate it as his face scrunched up.
(Back to present)
Gran Torino was clutching his stomach as he was laughing his ass off.
"Ah... classic." He said, "Anyways Toshinori, don't be so sad. I know you wanted to continue the family tradition by passing this power on to your son, but you've raised him greatly. Plus with the way he uses Ki, I doubt he even needs a quirk to be a hero. I'm sure Nana would be proud of the both of you."
Izuku chuckled sheepishly.
"Well, down the hatch," Ochako said before taking out her sports drink
After Ochako completely swallowed the hair that was thankfully watered down with her sports drink, she didn't exactly feel anything, yet.
"I don't feel any different," Ochako said.
"It takes a few hours for the effects to kick in," Toshinori said, "The quirk works differently for everyone who has had it.
Later that evening, Izuku and Ochako were in his room watching anime on his laptop. Izuku looked to Ochako who was smiing at the screen.
'God her smile is so bright it puts the sun to shame,' he thought
Ochako laid eyes on Izuku and smiled.
"What are you thinking about Deku?" she asked her crush
"Uh, er... uh... n-nothing! J-just thinking about a new move from this anime we're watching." Izuku said.
"So that's how you come up with all those techniques," Ochako said, "You observe from other shows and heroes."
"Yea," Izuku said.
"Actually Deku, something came to mind," she said, "How come you always fight with your arms?"
"Well... I guess I haven't thought about fighting any other way." Izuku said.
"Well you have another weapon other than your arms," Ochako said.
"What's that?" Izuku asked.
Ochako pointed to his legs
Izuku gasped and got an idea.
"Deku?" Ochako asked.
"Ochako! You're a genius!" Izuku said, "If my arms get tired, then I can start fighting with my legs as well. I can call it Shoot Style!"
The two of them looked at each other. Deep down they knew they had to tell each other their true feelings.
"Ocha there's something I gotta tell you," Izuku said.
"I got something I wanna say too," Ochako said.
"Ok on the count of three we'll say what's on our mind," Izuku said, "1, 2, 3..."
"I like you!" They both said in unison.
After those words left each other's mouths, they stared at each other blushing.
"Wait... really?" Izuku asked. "Did you just say that because I said that and what I said came out of your mouth?"
"Deku, I think your rambling again." Ochako said with a giggle, "But no. I meant what I said. I like you. I've always liked you since we were kids. A lot of people make fun of my quirk but you inspired me to keep using it to be a hero."
"Well, your quirk is definitely great for hero work as well as being able to injure someone from falling high enough." Izuku said.
Ochako smiled at those thoughtful words of his. The two were silent while looking at each other. The two then inched their faces closer together. They moved closer and their lips were about to make contact. But then...
"OH MY BABY!"
The two jumped in unison from Izuku's mother shouting.
"Mom!" Izuku said.
"Mama Yagi!" Ochako said.
Inko ignored this and took a picture.
"I'm saving this as my wallpaper! My baby boy got a girlfriend!" She said with tears of happiness.
Izuku turned to Ochako.
"So... woudl you like to be my-"
"YES! YES! A THOUSAND TIMES YES!" Ochako shouted as she jumped on Izuku, kissing him on the lips much to his surprise. Toshinori also took a photo for himself.
"I'm proud of you son," he said.
