You can skip this if you want, it's just how I feel about what I'll do with the fic. It's a bit long…:
Uhhh, ok. Thanks to those who commented, I shall do my best to live up to the expectations of those 13 people. First, much thanks for the kind words. I was expecting to wait a few days to get a few comments on whether this was a good idea, but I guess I wasn't the only one who wanted something like this? Idk. Anyways, I had a second chapter ready before uploading the prologue, though it is very short since it is only the trailer. I'm not really sure how I expect to do this fic, I was planning on doing only important moments since there is A LOT of rewatching that I'd need to do for this. I need to watch the Studio Deen Fate anime and the Oath Under Snow movie (I think it's a movie), but I'm not really sure where to find them. If I get lucky, I'll find a playthrough of the entire visual novel with only the true routes. Also, I am trying to remain cautious of when and what characters I have react. It'd be weird to have a random character react to something which they wouldn't normally be concerned about. This is the reason as to why I'm worried about having characters be OOC. To add to my worries, I have no clue how to pace a story properly, or how to pace myself when it comes to writing. I'm basically just saying "please bear with my amateurness". I worry that I may end up writing one of those abandoned fics that haven't been updated in a long time, or something. Now, there was one comment that caught my attention. The person commented as "Guest", so it's not like I can say what specific comment I'm talking about, huh. Anyways, I don't plan on making this a crossover fic where EMIYA or another character is replaced by someone from a different franchise. I read part of the RWBY one (at least, I think ik what you were talking about), and I realized that I want to keep the characters that speak to a minimum because of it. Having too many characters can just make the thing appear as a mess, in my opinion, and I already consider my planning for this fic to be a mess. I agree that having UBW be the first or second movie might make more sense when it comes to highlighting his sarcastic and pessimistic side, I'll consider doing that if I get a few more people agreeing with it in the reviews. Finally, to be honest, my interpretation of EMIYA's timeline is more or less just a bunch of other fan works or analyses put together. I plan on giving his timeline version a grimmer feel after the HGW; I want there to be something akin to slice of life, like seeing him have a nightmare about failing someone, or catching him brutally tire himself out while practicing his Tracing, and it all leads up to, what I hope would be, a big emotional rollercoaster for the reader. As for the other timelines, I might switch things up with seeing things from EMIYA's perspective and then going back to Shirou's perspective (mainly EMIYA's summoning in the first of the visual novel routes that I decide to show, at the very least). Like (I hope) I said in the prologue, the movies are going to be a narration done by the subconscious (a documentary of sorts?), so there may be commentary done by the older "finished" version of the Emiya of each timeline. So, when EMIYA makes the deal with Alaya, it would say "I was a fool to believe that my ideal was truly achievable through something such as Alaya". Well, these have been my inside thoughts on how I feel about this. Again, thanks for the kind words. I shall try my best. Hope you enjoy.
(The screen was dark as the man, Archer's voice, began to speak)
I am the bone of my sword
He was chanting the aria for his Reality Marble, how cinematic, how interesting. Good job, Da Vinci.
Steel is my body and fire is my blood
(The screen suddenly changed to show a massive tower-like structure with three spikes at the top, they were in a triangular formation)
The Fuyuki Fire? Is it possible that Archer was another victim like Shirou?, thought Arturia.
Cú and Mordred suddenly felt bad for the Nameless Archer. They wanted something juicy to get at him for, not a tragedy that likely scarred him.
(Again, the screen changes scenery. It appears to still be within the Fuyuki Fire, implied by the burnt down buildings and corrupted Greater Grail in the distance. A kid, very young, seemingly less than ten years old, was walking through the disaster. His eyes were hollow, not staring at anything, yet also taking in everything around him.)
Arturia was confused at what she was seeing. However, she didn't have enough time to think about it as the screen changed again.
(Now the screen was showing a familiar scene of a woman in a blue battle dress standing above a red-haired teenager in a school uniform)
Shirou?, wondered Arturia, now knowing that the boy in the fire was also Shirou. Why is it showing Shirou's past…? Unless… could Archer be Shirou?! No, that... that can't be it, right?
I have created over a thousand blades
(Inside a Reality Marble, Shirou is seen matching Gate of Babylon, sword for sword; Shirou projecting Caliburn when fighting against Heracles; a corrupted Heracles charging at his opponent. Shirou is holding Heracles' blade above himself. However, the arm holding the sword is tanned, longer, and more toned than it should be. A few trickles of blood are escaping the teen's left eye socket)
Unknown to Death,
(Rin trying to frantically resurrect Shirou)
Nor known to Life.
(Cú running Gaé Bolg through the boy's chest)
Have withstood pain to create many weapons
(A brief glimpse of the Fuyuki Fire; Berserker slashing at Shirou across the chest; Shirou's body having the edges of multiple swords sticking out of him; a dark room with the only light being the faint dim of projection and reinforcement magic, part of the man's hair was turning white, and his skin was becoming tanned; Shirou being impaled by what appeared to be Gilgamesh's Gate of Babylon; Archer casting Rho Aias against a torrent of black power, he was impaled by dark tendrils, but determination was still in his eyes)
Yet, those hands will never hold anything
(Arturia disappearing under the Grail's ruins; Illya's tombstone; Kiritsugu passing away; him handing Taiga his house keys, representing that he wasn't going to be home for a while; hugging Sakura goodbye; walking away from Rin after a heated argument; him standing on a platform, a noose around his neck. He looks at the crowd in front of him. He spots someone and smiles, mouthing something similar to "Goodbye"; a hill in a wasteland of swords. Archer looks along the horizon)
So as I pray,
(A wasteland of swords, gears turning in the bronze-colored sky; a vast plain covered in green grass and golden wheat. A yellow, golden hue in the sky. Caliburn can be seen atop a hill, Excalibur is crossed at its side; a red pendant being dangled on the cross-guard of the Azoth sword that is buried in the hill. The ground is gravel with reddish sand and clay. The sky is a clear blue with clouds sprinkled across it; a Sakura tree on a hill. The ground is covered in pink petals and green grass; a frozen desert. The sky is dark. A light blizzard seems to be howling across the landscape. The only light source is the moon in the sky)
Unlimited Blade Works.
And just like that, the screen darkened until the menu reappeared. Everyone was quiet until-
"S-Shirou?", asked a soft, quiet voice. Arturia had no idea what she just saw. The Reality Marble had changed several times, but that meant that the soul would be vastly different. What caused the change? When did Archer- Shirou- use it against Gilgamesh? Why did he not tell her about it? Why did Shirou's hair become white, and his skin tanned? How had his eyes changed from gold to steel? How did he have 5 sets of memories? Why was the chant for his Reality Marble so grim? Was this the Shirou that she knew, the one she loved? She was thinking all this while taking repeated glances at the man that could or could not be her Shirou Emiya.
Now Cú understood why Archer annoyed him so much. He killed him; dude probably held a grudge of some sort. Well, that's fair, I guess. Though, it wasn't anything personal. But who knew that the kid I failed to kill would become a Heroic Spirit himself?
In the meantime, Gudao was having a small moment of excitement. He had something of a senpai when it came to being a master, now. Someone that could give him pointers on what he was doing wrong when it came to supporting his servants, or even someone that could relate to his silent, inner struggles. He was already discussing what he thought he could improve on with his servants and Gabby but having another master's perspective would be a godsend.
The orange-haired master was excited. Gabby was ecstatic when thinking about how cool of a life Archer seemed to have had. She wasn't oblivious to all the pain that she saw Archer go through during the trailer, but she was more interested by how cool Archer appeared to be when fighting against the man with golden portals. I feel a bit bad that this is how I learn about you, but this just seems too cool to keep for yourself, Archer! It looks like an action movie!
Needless to say, many of the servants present were excited. Some, of course, were concerned with how tragedy seemed to have befallen their fellow servant when he was alive. The imagery of the fire that was shown was likely a source of trauma for the man. However, seeing Archer's trauma and important moments in life would help them be able to judge whether he was indeed a good person, they reasoned. After all, there were many kinds of servants in Chaldea, and, when alive, not all were good people. Regardless, the movies would be a good judge of character for the man in red. Thankfully, for those who didn't share much empathy with others, the movies would seem to be full of drama, intense battles, and even adventure. After all, if you weren't famous after death, then your life had to be interesting in order for you to have become a heroic spirit, right?
Author's Notes: Sorry if this seems a bit too short, but I thought that a trailer for a movie was a must have. Don't expect the other chapters to come out this quickly, I had this one almost done before uploading the prologue. Hopefully, you enjoyed. Try guessing what scenes I was using for the trailer (might be obvious in some cases), some are from or inspired by fan comics. Feel free to tell me if I should show UBW, Counter Guardian, or Fate first, because Heaven's Feel and Oath Under Snow are definitely last. Feedback on whether I should add or remove something is appreciated. Finally, the semicolons in bold and parenthesis are a quick way to change scenes/timeline during the trailer.
