After realizing that Gudao wasn't going to do it himself, Gabby stood up and walked over to the projector. She was going to start in the order that the menu was giving her, but decided that Archer would be a special case, just this once. She turned around and asked "Hey, guys, is it fine if we go out of order for the movies, just this once? I don't know why, but I get the feeling that Unlimited Blade Works might be the most important one for Arch- Shir- Emiya", she tried to get rid of the habit of calling him Archer, but when she began to say 'Shirou', Arturia seemed to give her a certain look. Maybe it was best to call him by last name. In truth, she just wanted to continue the hype train with the aria for the Reality Marble. Regardless, what she said had to be somewhat true. I mean, for an entire movie to be titled after his Reality Marble, that HAD to mean something.
To this, some of the servants were confused. They weren't sure as to why their master would have the sudden impulse to change the rules for the viewing, but they decided to not say anything against it. If she felt that this way was more entertaining, then so be it. Also, Gabby seemed to have some sort of sixth sense for things like this; she always knew what would make something more fun and intriguing.
Because nobody spoke out against her idea, Gabby proceeded to click on the movie titled Unlimited Blade Works. This had to be good. She felt so excited. To have a set of memories titled after what does the best job at representing your soul would mean that some crazy stuff was bound to happen.
And thus, the lights grew dim, and the screen went dark.
My body is made out of swords.
My blood is of iron and my heart is glass.
A clashing of ideals, reinforcing my one goal.
The flawed man who understands imperfection, fulfilling his dream
A red heirloom, the passion that keeps the forge alit.
The bearer lies here alone, forging iron in a hill of swords.
Thus, my life needs no meaning.
This body is made out of Unlimited Blade Works
Huh? Didn't the aria change?, thought Gudao. He didn't know the chant itself verbatim, but he knew it was different from the first one he heard.
(A great fire can be seen on the screen once the man finishes speaking. There is a boy standing in the rubble. His eyes were hollow. His body appeared as if he had been standing there for hours. Finally, he collapsed.)
After hours of waiting to be rescued, hours of hearing the screams of those who were burning around him, his legs finally gave out, and he collapsed like a lifeless doll. The exhaustion the boy was enduring became too great. His mental shock could no longer keep him up. Slowly, morbid thoughts began to fill the boy's head.
Am I really left here all alone...? Where did my family go...? Where are my friends...? Who are my family and friends...? How long have I been here...? Is this where I'll die...? I feel so… tired.
The boy closed his eyes.
"Oh, Lord", was all Jeanne could whisper. She herself had experience with being surrounded by fire. She could only feel sympathy for the man that was asleep, for he suffered through something similar to what she did, but at a much younger age.
So, this is what the Fuyuki Fire was really like. I've seen some of it through Shirou's dreams, but… this feels much worse. Truly, all the world's evil was held in that grail, thought Arturia. She had already seen similar visions due to her contract as master and servant, but it didn't lessen the pain that she felt upon learning that she was partly responsible for Shirou's trauma.
Mash didn't know what to think. Most of her life had been spent inside a room, with only Dr. Archaman visiting her. She was almost grateful that her life was isolated instead of having her first memories be that of a ruined city with burning corpses littered across the rubble.
(The inside of a storage room is seen, and in it, a boy is asleep on the floor. Some tools are spread out near him.)
Arturia wasn't sure whether to make light of Shirou being carefree about where he sleeps, or whether to be irritated at his lack of self-care.
(The door opened to reveal a girl with purple hair and a school uniform. She walks in and attempts to wake him up.)
"Senpai?", Sakura asked. "Are you awake?"
Who was this girl?, was all Mordred could think about. She saw her in the trailer and in her father's memories, but she forgot all about the girl.
"Good morning, Sakura", responds the boy.
And there was her answer.
"Yes, good morning Senpai."
"Sorry, Sakura. I should be helping with breakfast." said, rubbing his eyes as he got into a sitting position.
"Don't worry about that. You were up late again, weren't you?"
"Don't be silly. That's no excuse."
"Let me take care of it, Senpai". Sakura looked around the room. "If you leave the storehouse in this state, Fujimura-sensei will scold you."
"Good point", said Shirou. He would rather go through a little more effort in the morning than listen to Fuji-nee give a lecture about irresponsibility.
Ah, that interesting woman. She would have been a fine drinking companion, if I'm honest, thought Cú. To him, the woman seemed like a party animal.
"Guess I'll take you up on that offer, then", said the red head.
"Great. I'll be waiting for you, Senpai", she said before walking back to the house.
Now that Shirou was left alone, he began to speak his thoughts out loud. "Falling asleep before finishing shows that I lack focus."
Actually, it shows the opposite, was Arturia's thinking. Falling asleep while doing something shows that you were so focused on what you were doing, that you did not notice your body growing tired before collapsing. You have focus, Shiurou, it's just that you do not know when to stop. I suppose he will always be that way, though. Arturia had a small smile upon remembering the boy's stubbornness about letting people do things that he felt he could do himself.
(He turns towards the pipe on the towel that was behind him. Shirou places his hand on it, and the pipe has a faint pulse of green light flow through it.)
"So, Emiya-san was practicing his magecraft?", asked the brunette master.
"It appears so. I am certain that his ability to replicate many weapons didn't come without a lot of training... Though, I wish he'd take enough care of himself to sleep on a proper bed", answered Arturia.
(Screen went dark for a second. Now, it was showing Shirou doing several push-ups, sweat falling from his face and onto the floor. He stood up, and walked to a room in the house. There, he changed into his uniform.)
Hmm. He appears to be diligent when it comes to his training. I see, thought Leonidas. Perhaps the kid would have made a decent Spartan… Considering how relaxed society appeared to be in that time however, maybe not.
Meanwhile, the masters almost did a spit take, the uniform was nearly identical to a pair of mystic codes that they possessed. That explains why Emiya-san was nowhere to be found when they tried showing it to him. That must've been awkward.
(Shirou walks into the living room. The television is turned on with the news, and there is food placed on the table.)
Arturia's mouth began to water… Mordred's too. Like father, like son, I guess.
"I feel terrible making you do all this, Sakura", said the uniformed teen as he made his way to his seat.
"It's no trouble at all. I do it because I want to."
"Morning, Fuji-nee."
"Morning!", said the woman sitting across the table. She was reading the newspaper or pretending to.
"Itadakimasu!", said both students before they began eating.
(After taking the first bite, Shirou briefly thrashed around on the floor.)
"Senpai?!", asked the purple haired girl, concerned.
"Eh? It didn't look that bad" asked the Irish Hound. Of course, everyone was just as confused as he was.
"Th-This isn't soy sauce! Other sauces don't belong on rice with grated yams! Especially not oyster sauce!", yelled Shirou in disbelief as to why oyster sauce was on his rice.
"Ahahahaha!", laughed the adult in the room. She stood up and revealed her ingenious prank, "I switched the labels on the bottles earlier! Gotcha good, huh? Yay!". She wore a smug expression, as if she were a villain who succeeded in their evil plot.
"Hahaha!", she laughed at the effective prank. I gotta try that on the archer!, thought the Knight of Treachery. To perform such a cruel prank on a fellow servant… how treacherous indeed.
The other cooks- Tamamo and Boudica- shivered at how terrible that must've tasted. Even if he was much younger than what he was now, he was still right about oyster sauce not going well with rice.
"Who pulls a stunt like that first thing in the morning?", asked Shirou as he began wiping his mouth. "You're turning twenty-five this year, for heaven's sake. Guess you'll always be the same old Fuji-nee", he said as he watched her do a small victory dance.
"You had it coming!" was all the twenty-four-year-old woman had in response. "This is payback for yesterday!", she finalized as she sat back down and happily ate her food.
What could he have done the other day that would make her feel the need to ruin his taste?!, wondered the English Queen of Victory.
"Senpai, hove some tea", implored Sakura.
"I thought you seemed awfully quiet. You've been planning this ever since then?", said the boy as he began drinking the tea.
"Damn straight", Taiga Fujimura said shamelessly. "I spent a whole lot of time that I should have spent on grading tests."
Shouldn't grading tests be more important than getting revenge on a teenager who's seven years younger? Gudao was confused as to what was the teacher's thought process. She reminded him of Jaguar Warrior from the seventh singularity… wait, they're identical!
"So I gotta run, or I'll never get them done in time!", she said before quickly eating whatever was in front of her.
Mordred seemed to notice something in the way she ate. Huh. She eats almost the same way father does.
"Thanks for breakfast!", finished Fuji-nee.
(They were now at the entrance of the house.)
"See you at school! Don't go back to sleep and wind up late, okay? Well, I'm outta here!" She quickly left the entrance, but just before she was out of sight, she said to Sakura, "Your cooking was as delicious as ever, Sakura-chan!" And just like that, she disappeared, speeding off on her moped.
"It was nothing, Fujimura sensei", Sakura said to the enigma that is Taiga, who couldn't hear her anymore.
(The scene changes to Shirou finishing his food as Sakura was cleaning the dishes.)
"Damn that Fuji-nee. Does being the landlord's daughter give her the right to eat here every day? She's no better than a freeloader", complained Shirou.
"I don't remember the kid being that harsh", said Cú. "Saying something like that makes him sound like his older self."
"Ah. Shirou only complains about Taiga Fujimura because they are so close. I believe they are nearly the same as siblings", said Arturia.
"Did you do something to upset her yesterday?", asked Sakura.
"I accidentally called her by that one nickname", Shirou replied.
"Then you deserved it, Senpai. You should be more careful. You know she hates it when you call her that."
(Shirou finally accepted defeat and began to watch the news.)
"In our next story, workers in a Shinto business district office building were hospitalized after passing out late last night. According to the police statement, the victims were all found with apparent hypoxia, which has led them to suspect a possible gas leak as the cause", reported the news anchor.
Medea felt a little guilty, but it was for the sake of her accomplishing her wish with Souichirou. In her eyes, it was necessary. However, she knew that she would be scolded by her masters for doing such a thing if it was revealed. She could blame it on Souichirou, but he was the one man that she could never speak ill of. Oh, how the Witch of Betrayal can't betray her love.
"Hear that? Another gas leak in Shinto. That's messed up. We need to be careful too", warned the red-head.
"Don't worry. I always double check the gas valve, so we'll be fine", Sakura said, proud of herself.
Shirou seemed a little confused. "No, not about that."
(Now, they were both at the entrance of the school.)
"Well, work hard at club practice."
"About that, Senpai… Maybe you could stop by the dojo?"
"I have to go to the student council office this morning."
"O-Oh, of course. I'm sorry. Forget I asked. Well, I should get going. Look forward to dinner tonight, okay?", she said before walking off to her club.
(Shirou is now seen in a room. There are several pieces of equipment in his proximity.)
"The school's budgetary allocations are completely unbalanced", spoke a boy that almost no one recognized. Only those who paid great attention remembered the brief moment this boy appeared in Arturia's memories of the 5th Grail War.
"Yeah, athletic clubs get the lion's share of the budget, and the rest get the crumbs", Shirou commented as he was fixing some equipment.
"Indeed."
"I don't want to doubt Emiya-senpai's skills with machinery, but should he really need to be the one to fix something? Isn't it better to hire a professional?", Mash asked out loud.
"It could be a personal favor for a friend. Or it could be the school wanting to cut on expenses. I'm not sure", Gudao whispered to her.
"As a result, the facilities available to non-athletic clubs are in disrepair. They've given zero thought to resolving our heater issues", continued the boy with dark blue hair and glasses.
"Oh, you were right. He's fixing something for the school… wait, doesn't that count as some form of child labor?!", Gabby whispered to her fellow master.
"He's seventeen, no? It might not be seen as an issue. Though, handling electrical equipment could be dangerous, and he's working during school hours… I don't know", Gudao whispered his thoughts back.
"You mean this isn't the only broken one?", asked the red head.
"Indeed."
Shirou commented on the heater, "As I thought, it's just showing its age."
"Can you fix it, Emiya?"
"I can."
"Really?", the navy blue-haired boy asked, impressed.
"It won't take long, so could you wait outside?"
"Of course. I'll get out of your way", said Issei, leaving the room.
"Okay then", the boy spoke to himself. He began to use his magecraft to analyze the machine. "There are two spots where the heating element is about to break. The heat transfer pipes should be good for a while. I can patch the power cord with electrical tape for now". He began to use a screwdriver to gain access to the inside of the machine.
"Psst. You think we can get him to be Chaldea's common repairman?", asked Gabby. To her, he seemed to be too good at things such as cooking, repairing, and cleaning to be called a servant. Actually, he was probably best suited to the normal use of the word servant.
"Well, if he isn't too upset about you exposing him, then ask him about it". In Gudao's opinion, Gabby was too quick to forget that the servant was against the viewing of his memories in the first place.
Outside, Shirou heard Issei speak. "Tohsaka…" his friend said.
Tohsaka?, Shirou wondered.
"Well, if it isn't the student council president. Already up and patrolling the school? Or are you doing maintenance on the club rooms? Either way, I see you're as diligent as always", said Rin Tohsaka.
"And what are you up to this morning?", Issei asked his arch-nemesis. Why are you here so early when you aren't in any clubs?"
Shirou stood up with the heater and walked towards the door.
"I just felt like it", replied Rin. She wasn't just about to admit that she arrived early due to her clocks having the wrong time. It was nearly as embarrassing as showing up to school on a Sunday, forgetting that there was no school that day.
Shirou stepped out. "It's fixed, Issei."
"Oh, sorry. I asked you for help, but you ended up doing all the work. My bad, Emiya." He bowed his head and had one hand held straight up in front of him as a sign of apology.
Doesn't seem like a bad dude. Rin isn't a bad person either, so why do they not seem to get along?, Gabby thought.
"Where's the next one?", asked the red head, already beginning to try and fix a problem that didn't really pertain to him. "We don't have all day."
"It's in the A/V room", Issei answered. "They said it had been acting up for a while, and now it looks like it's reached the end of its lifespan."
However, while Issei talked, Shirou was looking at Rin.
Once Issei finished, Shirou looked back at his fellow student. "If it's dead, I can't fix that. You're better off finding a new one."
"While that's true, I'd appreciate it if you could take a look at it anyway". Rin walked around them, into the hallway. "It looked dead to me, but you might be able to tell if it's just pretending."
"Okay. I'll give it a shot". He got up and looked apprehensive for a second, but then said, "You're an early riser, Tohsaka". He then lifted the heater up and walked back into the room with Issei.
(The setting is now inside a classroom. Probably one of the few times a classroom is shown with extras in the series.)
"The art club's heater will have to wait until lunchtime", Shirou said, walking into the classroom and taking a seat.
"Yeah", Issei said from behind him.
"You're"
Medusa felt disgusted just by hearing the voice speak a single word. She wanted nothing more than to never have to see another seaweed in her life. Now she knew that, due to Archer being Shirou, she would see the pathetic half-master a few more times. She was actually contemplating whether or not to leave the cinema room.
"Quite the busy bee this morning, Emiya", said the seaweed, I mean, Shinji Matou. "I was wondering what you'd been up to after quitting the club. You're the student council president's errand boy, eh?"
Issei was about to say something, but Emiya put a hand to stop him and spoke first. "If you need anything on your end, just let me know, Shinji. If it's something I can help with, I will."
"I'd be livid if someone told me that I was an errand girl. How can Emiya-san just accept being talked to like that?", grumbled the female master. Is it bad to want to see Emiya-san snap at someone?
"Maintaining bows was never your strong suit, after all."
Pfft. I can't believe Emiya-san really said that to him with a straight face. It looks like he meant nothing by it either, thought Gudao, trying to not laugh at the quip that Shirou gave Shinji.
Shinji looked dumbstruck for a second. "Mind your own business."
"Pffft! Hahaha! Stupid seaweed!", Mordred laughed.
Even Medusa had to smile at the witty remark that left the boy looking like an idiot.
"You're not part of the club anymore, so don't show your face near the dojo again!", said Shinji before walking away to his seat.
Emiya-senpai must be a very mentally strong person to talk casually with someone like that, was what Mash was thinking.
"Is he serious? Did he forget that he was the one who drove you out in the first place?", Issei said in slight disbelief.
"I can't help but hate Shinji more and more, honestly. Why the hell would he want Emiya-san out of the club, anyways? If his skills back then are as good as they are now, then he's just begging to lose whatever competition they participate in", huffed Gabby.
Little did she know that with her first sentence, she became Medusa's second favorite master. Sakura was obviously first, even if she didn't get to interact with her too much.
"It's okay. That's just how he is", was what Shirou had to say about his 'friend'.
But he's an asshole, though! He tried tricking you and that Tohsaka girl into fighting each other!, thought Mordred. Her stepmother/stepfather- the clarification was still pending- needed to find some better friends if he was fine with someone like that.
Haaah…. Shirou, you can be too forgiving at times, was all Arturia had to say about her lover.
"You get used to it eventually", the red head finalized.
"But you shouldn't have to", grumbled Gabby.
"Hm. Do you, now?", Issei asked.
"You do", was Shirou's response. Suddenly, the morning bell rang, indicating that classes were starting. "Uh-oh. Fujimura-sensei is about to come barreling in."
Speak of the tiger and she shall appear. Fujimura ran right into the classroom and said, "All right! I made it!", before doing a dramatic spin. "Good morning class! I'll take attendance now."
(Shirou is spending his lunchtime in the student council office with Issei.)
"Emiya, if you don't eat your lunch soon, you won't get to."
'It's okay. I'm almost done", said the boy as he was working on something. Presumably, another heater.
"The heaters are one thing, but you didn't have to agree to fix personal items too."
"Don't worry about it. Like they say, in for a penny, in for a pound."
"Psst. Mash, what does that mean?", whispered Gudao.
"It means to finish what you've started, Senpai", answered the pink-haired girl.
"Ah, okay. Thank you", he said. At this moment, though, he just realized that Mash was a little like Sakura. They were nice, not very loud, and would refer to Shirou and himself as 'Senpai'.
Issei sighed. "There's such a thing as being too considerate. Being helpful is all well and good, but you should really learn to say no."
"You heard him, Gudao. Get a little more backbone", teased Gabby.
"You know, I've grown as a person since the last time you saw me. A lot has happened since I last saw you and when you arrived in Chaldea."
She swore that he was about to pout. She was waiting for it, savoring every moment. However, the pout never came. She was left unsatisfied.
Issei continued, "You take 'turn no one away' too far, Emiya."
"Do I seem like that much of a pushover?"
I'm sorry, stepparent/father's lover, but you seemed cooler when fighting Goldie, Mordred thought. She loved the image of her father because he wasn't a pushover, so it was slightly frustrating to see Shirou be one. Frustrating wasn't the correct word to use, but she couldn't think of a better word.
Issei turned to answer. "You're leaving yourself open to being taken advantage of by the unscrupulous. Surely you could turn people down every once in a while."
"What're you talking about? Helping others is a good deed. That's not something the heir to a temple should be complaining about", he argued.
"I'm just saying that you take it too far, Emiya. If you keep going like this, you'll burn out."
"Duly noted", he said whilst finishing with the heater. "Okay, all done!"
(Now it's nighttime. Shirou's walking back home through a road that seems to overlook the city.)
"Oh?" he's surprised to see a little girl standing there, seemingly staring at him.
"Should we be worried? That's Illya… won't she try to kill him?", Gabby asked Arturia. Thankfully for her, the Illya that they knew in Chaldea had a different personality to the one that they saw in Heracles and Arturia's memories. Granted, they didn't get to see the entirety of Heracles' memories because of the absurdly strong mad enhancement, so maybe Shirou's Illya had moments where she acted like Chaldea's Illya, and they just haven't seen Chaldea's Illya act like Shirou's Illya yet.
"I have not been summoned yet, so although it puts me on edge, I doubt that Illya would hurt Shirou since the Holy Grail War has not yet started", was Arturia's response.
The two walked past each other until Illya smiled and said, "If you don't summon yours soon, you'll die, Onii-chan."
Shirou was startled and turned around, ready to ask if he heard her right, but there was no one behind him. She disappeared, and he was alone on the road. The night pitch black.
(At the Emiya household.)
"Of all the things to come home late! I said in homeroom that it hasn't been safe in town lately, remember?", Taiga scolded.
"Um… Something came up", was all Shirou could say. It's not every day a foreign little girl calls you her big brother and advises you to not die. It was… ominous.
Taiga slumped down in defeat. "Do you get that from Kiritsugu-san?"
Arturia still could not believe that Kiritsugu ended up as a relatively laid-back man that would raise her beloved. It wasn't easy erasing how she saw him during the 4th Holy Grail War.
Taiga continued, "I worry about what'll happen to you if you keep spending all your time trying to help people."
"Excuse me, Fujimura-sensei?", Sakura intervened.
Gudao was almost surprised until she ended with 'ura-sensei'. He had forgotten what her full name was for a little bit. His last name and Taiga's last name were too similar.
Sakura asked her question, "Has Senapi always been this way?"
"Yeah, for as long as I've known him. Shirou just doesn't have it in him to ignore people in need". She might've been reminiscing about some old memories; she had a small smile on her face. " 'Comfort the afflicted, and afflict the comfortable', you know? When he was a kid, he wrote in an essay, 'When I grow up, I wanna be a champion of justice!'."
Arturia had a fond smile plastered on her face.
Many of the Heroic Spirits were laughing, Mordred and Cú laughing the hardest. Hearing that the Nameless Archer's big dream was to become a 'champion of justice', it was pretty funny how childish it seemed. However, nobody knew that, in one reality, he achieved this dream, and it turned out to be one of his biggest regrets.
"Wow, he must have been adorable", said Sakura.
Arturia wholeheartedly agreed. She would've loved to see a younger Shirou. A moment between the Fuyuki Fire and Kiritsugu's death would be preferable.
"And whose fault do you think that is? When kids grow up around immature adults, they get funny ideas in their heads. If you don't like it, cook your own damn food for once". Shirou was somewhat smug about his reply; he knew that he backed Fuji-nee into a corner.
Taiga was appalled. "What!? You're going to make me cry!", she fake cried. Now that she lost her Plan A, she moved on to Plan B. "Sakura-chan, fill 'er up!"
Cú almost laughed at how quickly she went from facing near despair, to joyfully relying on her backup.
(Once they finished, Shirou saw Sakura and Fuji-nee out the entrance. He turned off the lights, and went to take a short stroll throughout the yard. Next, he's inside the shed)
"Trace on", he said as he closed his eyes. "Tracing fundamental structure". His hand began to glow green. "Tracing auxiliary components", he said while reaching for the pipe in front of him. "Altering fundamental structure". The glowing green circuits moved from his hand, and into the pipe. He was sweating due to his deep concentration. "Reinforcing auxiliary components". The pipe began to glow red, and the circuits were orange. The light emanating from the pipe was flickering. Shirou opened his eyes and the glowing stopped. He was panting, hard.
Is this what happens when he creates a sword…? No, this is reinforcement magic. But I thought that reinforcement magic was simple, at least, that's what I remember from the classes at the Clock Tower, thought Gudao and Gabby. They had seen him pull Caliburn out of nowhere, how was this harder for him?
"Damn, failed again. I can't believe that I still can't do something this basic. I'm gonna be a novice forever". He threw his back onto the floor. "I just don't get it. How do I become a champion of justice?"
Again, there was snickering and laughter filling the room. Sure, it was a nice dream to have, but it was very unrealistic. Besides, he said a little while ago that he blamed his childish dream on Taiga and Kiritsugu, yet he still wanted to follow the dream.
(The screen goes dark and lights up again. Shirou and Sakura are cooking breakfast. However, the image paused.)
"Alright. Sorry guys, but I am feeling too tired. Also, it doesn't seem like anything important is going to happen soon, so let's stop for today and continue tomorrow", Gabby announced to the room. Even Gudao was feeling sleepy, and he considered it rude to sleep through someone's moments in life.
The servants agreed. They knew their masters still had to go through normal bodily functions, sleep being one of them. Additionally, Gudao had spent a lot of time trying to convince all the Heroic Spirits to sleep at night. He said it helped make them feel more like people, and less like manifested heroes of legend.
With that, the room emptied, and everyone went to their rooms. After everyone had left, Arturia took Emiya with her. She wanted to ask him some questions once he woke up; Gabby had assured her that he would wake up in the morning. She took him to her room and laid him on the bed, gave him some space, and fell asleep. He wouldn't mind waking up next to her, right? Besides, they had gone further than just sleeping on the same bed, before. In her mind, as lovers, it would be fine. Though, she had to admit that she was rapidly getting embarrassed at the thought of sleeping with him. No! Don't get nervous. Shirou is Shirou. Why are you so worried over this? And thus, she drifted to sleep.
Author's Notes (feel free to skip): First, fuck Shinji. Second, sorry if this is a bit short in terms of the episode. This chapter is 5.1k words and I only got to 16 minutes with 41 seconds into the episode itself. How the hell do two hours of writing only result in a few minutes? Absurd. Third, Mordred's fun. I've read the comments. The order will go as follows: UBW, Counter Guardian, Fate (one to two chapter recap?), Heaven's Feel, Oath Under Snow. To be honest, I felt a little bad about not following my preplanned weekly schedule, but I was not expecting to take forever just writing the script for the anime. Anyways, I'll be showing moments from the anime that contain either Shirou or EMIYA. I'll focus on Shirou, but will have an EMIYA POV if there is a fight that will occur (EMIYA's fights scenes are cool, in my humble opinion). Sorry if this is not how you expected me to go about writing this, but I was already writing the beginning of the script for the episode before I realized what I was doing, so I just went along with it. I'd appreciate some pointers on how Arturia should behave, and how Mash should talk.
My apologies to those who wanted Fate or Counter Guardian to go first, but this works out way better. UBW shows EMIYA being a sarcastic dude who wants to kill Shirou. His reason for killing Shirou is revealed, and this gets you thinking about his backstory. Then, I make the Counter Guardian "movie", which reveals the depressing backstory. Now, you understand him a bit more, he appears more human. Next, Fate recap. Appreciate some stuff from Shirou's perspective, see my interpretation of the EMIYA vs. Heracles (I want to say Hercules, but they say Heracles in the anime), and read Saber/Shirou fluff in Avalon. I wish there were more Shirou/Saber or EMIYA/Saber fluff out there. After the Fate recap, there's Heaven's Feel, where Archer is pretty damn cool. I'm not sure what to do about Saber's reaction to her alter self, but I'll worry about that when I get there. Oath Under Snow is a wild card, but I want it to be a representation of what EMIYA can do when he's 100% serious in accomplishing his goal. I like to think that EMIYA isn't putting his all into fighting, when in the anime. In Fate, he was serious against Berserker, even took six lives with him. In UBW, he's constantly planning for his fight with Shirou, but even then I think he was holding back. To me, it seemed like he wanted Shirou to prove him wrong. In Heaven's Feel, he has to worry about Rin, Shirou and Illya, which holds him back a bit. Fine, I'll stop fanboying about EMIYA.
Ill just answer some comments-
Broken Requiem: Yeah, I know that EMIYA failed to save Saber. I've spent some time trying to establish a definite head-canon for myself on how much it should diverge from the original Fate route. I admit, I should've used Shirou's shroud. I used Kanshou becuase it's one of his signature weapons and... I don't have a real excuse.
Bydarro: We're thinking the same thing. High five.
Logic's a Product of Insanity: You, Bydarro, and I are thinking the same thing. High five.
DragonTetho: I too am an enjoyer of Shirou/Saber. I plan on giving them the Last Episode One Shot Manga (Ufotable, Fate route adaptation when?). Actually, I already hinted HEAVILY at it during the Prologue. I'll write the remaining part of it at the end of the Fate route.
edson izanagi: Thanks for taking the time to translate. I also believe that EMIYA replaced whatever archer Rin originally summoned.
TetsuChris: I think you misunderstood me a bit. EMIYA's contract happened on a failed hero mission, true. He still lived his life as he saw fit, and then became a counter guardian after death. I didn't have him commit suicide. EMIYA was hanged after being accused of starting a war (I'm a little lost as to how the hell they managed to find him guilty. I doubt "he didn't have a proper reason for helping end it" is a good enough explanation for hanging him). Criticism is fine. If there's a misunderstanding, I'll try and correct it. Otherwise, I see it as advice.
John Aiden Sullano: I don't plan on abandoning it right after starting it. I'd rather not abandon it in the first place. Though, updates may take a long time once school starts again.
Franz Myers: I'll check it out. It may be a godsend once I try to summarize the Fate route. Hablo espanol (odio que mi teclado no tiene la enye). Espero alcanzar sus expectativas. Aun asi, gracias por traducir el comentario.
Steppe14: I have tried changing line spacing in word, using Shift+Enter, just hitting enter to create more spacing, but nothing worked, so there's not much I can do about it for now. Also, CAN YOU IMAGINE JUST STUFFING EMIYA INTO THE MACHINE? LMAO. The nitpick is fair, like I said to a previous comment, I blanked when thinking of what to put into Da Vinci's machine. I decided, "Screw it. The smith that actually made the swords isn't a servant, so I could get away with this". Finally, I've seen several fics have an omni-like presence dictate why and how the cast watches things. It doesn't make much sense to rely on some all-powerful being when I can just say that Da Vinci is a bored genius. Plus, I can use Hans Christiansen and another servant as an excuse as to why Da Vinci would make a "movie maker", the excuse being that they want to correct the history that is written about the servants present in Chaldea. The idea interested me when I read it in the Fragments of Chaldea fic.
Thank you to those who commented. I only responded to a few, but I've read all of the ones so far. Point out any grammar mistakes. I don't have a beta reader, so I'm relying on my brain, Google Docs, and Word to spot any mistakes. If you think that characters should interact in a different way, please let me know. I'm still iffy on how people should react. As always, thanks for reading.
