Acid Smash:
Part 3: Secret Love
Izuku and Mina sit in a darkened restaurant at opposite ends of a table with the only source of light being a dim light hanging above.. Their table has a black marble finish with a small pot of blossoming flowers in the middle, similar to the patern on the restaurant walls.
Izuku takes a moment to appreciate the décor.
Izuku: This looks like a nice place.
Mina responds enthusiastically.
Mina: I know right? The girls and I found this place a few weeks ago; the food here's amazing! I've wanted to take you here for ages!
He looks at her in confusion.
Izuku: You have?
Her expression falters.
Mina: Yeah. I just couldn't find the right time. And after Toru kept bugging me about that time she found us together at the park, I thought someone was bound to spot us here too. We really lucked out today.
She smiles again.
Mina: But as promised, we're here to celebrate! So, see anything you'd like?
Izuku squints, struggling to read the menu.
Izuku: I can't really see anything. It's too dark in here.
Mina moves her chair to the side.
Mina: The light's better on my side, why don't you scoot over?
Izuku complies and moves his seat closer to Mina. She holds out her menu and the two begin to read it together.
While doing so, Mina comes to rest her head on Izuku's shoulder. She looks up at him.
Mina: Isn't that better?
Izuku: It is.
The two then smile, content with the moment.
The pair are suddenly interrupted by the sound of someone clearing their throat.
They look to see an impatient waiter standing in front of their table, each of his four arms folded out in front of him.
Waiter: Sorry, are you two ready for me to take your order?
Embarrassed, Izuku moves his chair back to its original position.
Izuku: Y-yes, p-please.
After having finished their meal, Mina currently looks at the cheque. Her black and golden eyes are wide with shock.
Mina: A ten-percent service charge!? What is this, a restaurant run by villains!? It's way too much!
Izuku reaches into his pocket starts to pull out his wallet.
Izuku: It's not a problem. I've got it.
Mina swiftly puts her arms out to stop Izuku.
Mina: Woah, woah, woah! Not's so fast!
He tries again but is again stopped.
Izuku: It's alright Mina, I can get this.
Mina: I promised I'd be treating you, remember? Wasn't that the point of tonight?
Izuku: Wasn't the point to celebrate? You did really well today too Mina. Shouldn't it mean that I should be treating you too?
Mina sighs dejectedly.
She then starts to giggle with Izuku joining in.
Mina: Fine. Split it?
Izuku: Deal.
Mina then turns her attention back to the waiter from earlier, using his four arms to serve multiple people sitting at a table. The group all appear to be good friends, laughing together and enjoying each other's company. Her eyes then come to focus on a young couple in the middle of the group.
Izuku notices the frown on her face, taking her hand in concern.
Izuku: Is everything alright?
The girl smiles softly at him.
Mina: Do you ever wish we could hang out with our friends more? As a couple I mean?
His face is full of uncertainty.
Izuku: Do you?
She throws her head back in frustration.
Mina: I don't know… Maybe? I mean, don't our classmates have the right to know that we're dating?
The boy looks at her sympathetically.
Izuku: Yeah… I-I suppose that's true. I-I'm just worried that everyone's going to be giving us attention. I-I'm sure they'd mean well but I'm not sure if I'm comfortable with that just yet. Iida would probably say that it's inappropriate for us to date while we're studying to be heroes while Kirishima could just as easily try to give me some "manly" advice. And I don't like the idea that someone like Mineta would keep asking us more… personal questions.
Mina nods in agreement.
Mina: I get it. Jiro and Toru can be nosy too. Hey, if it were anyone else, I'd be the same. But it's different now that we're in the dorms. Are we gonna have a moment to ourselves when we're all living together?
She slumps forward.
Mina: So not everyone needs to know. But there are some people who should.
Izuku frowns.
Izuku: Uraraka?
The girl smiles briefly before pursing her lips together in worry.
Mina: She's my best friend. Meanwhile, I'm lying to her face about dating the guy she likes. What kind of friend does that make me?
Izuku is silent.
Izuku: I know… Uraraka was the first friend I made at UA. The first in a long time. She's always supported me, even when I was unsure of myself. She's done so much for me. I just… I don't want to make things awkward between us.
Mina: You know the longer we leave it, the worse it will be for her, right?
Izuku: The truth is… I'm worried. I don't want to hurt her but I'm not sure how we can-
Mina: Tell her without breaking her heart?
Izuku nods, sadness in his eyes.
Mina caresses the back of his hand with her thumb. He looks up to see her reassuring smile. He smiles back.
Mina: Whatever, we decide to do, we'll do it together.
Izuku: Okay.
She kisses his forehead.
Mina: I love you.
Izuku: I love you too.
Having left the restaurant the two now walk hand-in-hand back to the dorms. The city around them has darkened. Streetlights now illuminate the nearly empty street.
Mina puts her head on Izuku's shoulders.
Mina: I had a nice time tonight. Sorry if I spoiled the mood earlier.
Izuku shifts his gaze downwards to meet hers.
Izuku: I-It's fine. I had a good time too.
A mischievous smile forms on Mina's face.
Mina: So, seeing that it was my idea to come out, I think it's only fair that you choose what to do for the next date night.
Izuku raises his head upwards, thinking of a response.
Izuku: Actually, I've been meaning to ask for a while. Why don't we head to Esupa City this weekend?
She stares at the green-haired boy curiously.
Mina: Esupa City? Isn't that in the Kansai region?
Izuku: I know it's a bit far but I think it'd be fine if we took the train. We wouldn't have to worry about anyone seeing us either.
Mina grins excitedly.
Mina: Okay! Let's go!
The two soon arrive at the dorms.
Izuku reaches for the door handle but is stopped by Mina.
Mina: Say… Before we go in…
She leans in towards him.
Mina: How about a goodnight kiss?
He reciprocates the movement and leans in too.
The two press their lips together but suddenly, the door swings open.
On the other side is Kaminari. He stands there, staring at them with a goofy smile on his face.
Meanwhile, Izuku and Mina stare back like deer caught in headlights. They break away from each other.
Mina: Oh… H-hey Kaminari…
Izuku: Uh…
Kaminari continues to stare. The two look at him in bewilderment.
Mina: Kaminari?
Izuku: A-are you okay?
Kaminari slowly brings his thumbs up to them.
Kaminari: He… Hehehe…
The sound of familiar voices then catches their attention.
Jiro: Kaminari! Get back here!
Kirishima: Where'd he go?!
The two classmates come across the three in the doorway.
Kirishima: Wait, he's here! Hey guys! We found him!
Kirishima pats him on the back.
Kirishima: You gave us a scare man. Why don't you sit down for a while now, okay?
Kaminari: Wheyyyy…
Izuku: W-what happened to him?
Jiro rolls her eyes.
Jiro: The idiot tried changing a lightbulb when the power was still on and short-circuited. He's been like this since dinner.
Izuku and Mina both smile innocently as they look at Kaminari, masking their true thoughts.
Kaminari: Eh… hehehehe… Wheyyy…
Izuku and Mina: His brain's fried!?
Jiro takes him by the hand.
Jiro: Sigh. Come on Jammingwhey, let's get you inside.
Jiro and Kirishima escort Kaminari into the building, leaving Izuku and Mina alone and dumbfounded.
Mina: Well… That just happened.
As they head inside, they fail to notice the parting of a curtain and the two curious eyes watching them intently.
Who is the mysterious watcher? Stay tuned to find out!
Sorry if this was a bit short, the next chapter will be much longer. Thanks to everyone for reading and I hope you enjoyed.
