Acid Smash
Part 9: Float On
The next morning, Izuku is making his way out of his room and through the corridor. On his way he comes across Uraraka, making her way down the stairs.
She smiles and waves at him.
Uraraka: Morning Deku!
Izuku: G-good morning Uraraka.
He rubs the back of his head awkwardly.
Izuku: I- I just wanted to say sorry again, for everything… If you still can't trust me, I'll understand but I want you to know that I'll do what I can to fix things.
Uraraka laughs.
Uraraka: Jeez Deku, I told you last night, it's okay!
Izuku smiles timidly.
Izuku: R-right. I just wanted to say that I really value you; you've helped me so much since I got into UA and I really appreciate it. In more ways than words can describe. T-thank you.
Uraraka smiles too, flattered.
Uraraka: Thanks Deku, I really value your friendship too!
She holds her fist up for Izuku.
Uraraka: We're still that right? Friends?
Izuku copies the movement and the two share a fist-bump.
Izuku: Always.
The two proceed to head on down the stairs.
Uraraka looks at him with an enlightened expression.
Uraraka: Hey, why don't we watch a movie tonight?
Izuku freezes up at the suggestion, fumbling around as he tries to answer.
Izuku: A- A movie? I- Uhm...
Blushing profusely, Uraraka waves her hands around in protest.
Uraraka: With the rest of the class I mean! Not that I'm suggesting that I- that we... We wouldn't want Mina to get the wrong idea now, would we?
Izuku sighs in relief.
Izuku: S-sure. That sounds nice.
He turns back to look at Uraraka.
Izuku: Still, if there's anything you need, let me know.
Uraraka: Sure thing. After all, you're the Deku who does his best, right?
Izuku stops in place whilst Uraraka carries on ahead. He smiles.
Izuku and Uraraka eventually make their way downstairs, arriving in the common room to find Mina in the kitchen area.
Izuku: Morning Mina!
She is leaning on the counter, a cup of coffee and an empty plate beside her.
Mina: Morning Izuku! Morning Uraraka!
Uraraka nods and waves her hand in acknowledgement but doesn't say anything. The smile on her face is sufficient enough though.
Meanwhile, Izuku takes steps towards Mina only to stop dead in his tracks.
He takes a minute to sniff the air, looking around in confusion.
Izuku: Do you smell something burning?
Mina winks at him seductively.
Mina: Only my love and desire for you.
Izuku's eyes widen in horror as he looks directly at his girlfriend.
Izuku: M-Mina! T-The toaster's on fire!
Sure enough, Mina turns around to see smoke and flames billowing from the appliance.
She recoils in shock.
Mina: Aw crap!
The couple then scramble to put out the fire, arguing amongst themselves.
Mina: I'll go get some water!
Izuku: No! Don't! Where's the fire extinguisher!?
Mina: I don't know! Quick, pass me that towel!
Izuku obliges and Mina proceeds to fan the flames down with the towel.
Meanwhile, Uraraka watches the events unfolding and smiles contently to herself.
Uraraka: You know what, maybe everything's gonna be okay after all.
That smile soon shifts to a look of alarm.
Mina: Gah! Now the towel's on fire!
Uraraka: Then again.
And so here's the second-part of this joint chapter. I got the toaster idea from messing around with one of those incorrect quote generators. I struggle with ideas now and then so maybe I'll make some future stories using those as prompts.
I also have another announcement to make. The next chapter will also be the final one, simply because I've reached the end of the story I originally planned out. I do hope you'll stay tuned to read it.
Thanks for reading!
