Chapter 2

Caroline spotted Elena, with Bonnie, by the lockers further down the hall. Looking at her it seemed Emma had made good at her end of the deal. Elena looked better. She knew she wasn't fine, but was better as that was all she had asked for.

Making her way over Caroline stopped directly in front of Elena, and beside Bonnie. "Elena Oh, my God." Leaning forwards she wrapped the brunette in a hug. "How are you? Oh, it's so good to see you. How is she? Is she good?" The last part was aimed at Bonnie, hoping she might have a better insight to the girls emotional state.

"Caroline, I'm right here." Elena sighed. "And I'm fine, thank you."

"Really?" Caroline stared at the other girl, searching for the girl who cried herself to sleep in her guestroom a few months ago.

"Yes, thank you. I'm much better." Elena replied, sharing a look with Bonnie.

"Oh, you poor thing." Caroline brought her into another hug. While she could see she was doing much better, thanks to Emma, she knew Elena was still hurting. "Well, I'll see you guys later?" When the two girls nodded, she gave a smile and skipped away. Turning the corner she grabbed her phone and rang Emma.

Dusting the flour off her hands, Emma grabbed the ringing phone. Seeing Caroline's name flash on the screen she answered. Listening to the other girl babble about Elena she couldn't help but smile. By the end of the conversation the muffins baking in the oven were done.

Taking them out she made her way to the front of the shop to place them on display. The shop was empty, only being open a short while. Emma had everything set out, cussing at the fact she had been made to open this morning alone. Emma believed her boss just wanted a lie in.

The bell rang, signalling a customer. Raising her head she was surprised at who she was looking at.

"Good morning, what can I do for you this morning, Dracula?" Emma greeted the man with a pleasant smile on her face. Damon rolled his eyes at the nickname. He made a show of eyeing up the treats on display, one catching his eye more than the others. He ordered instead one of the freshly baked muffins as he made small talk with the mystical Baker.

"Can you please get to the point now?" Emma sighed as packaged up a cake as he inspected the little shop.

"I think you know." Damon responded, making his way back to the counter as he shoved his hands in his jacket pockets.

"Yes, I think I do." Emma remarked sarcastically. "But I think it's more fun to let you figure it out for yourself." Putting the small box on the counter she pushed it forwards and gave Damon a pretty smile. "It's on the house." Without further ado, she left Damon and sauntered into the back.

Damon watched her until he could see her no longer. Grabbing the box, he frowned. It seemed heavier than the one thing he ordered. Slipping the lid open he was surprised to see the fairy cake sat next to the muffin. There was also a note inside, something that she must have done when he was walking around.

Next time try not to be so macho

and order the damn fairy cake

Shaking his head, Damon walked outside and made it so he was alone. Taking the cake out of the box, he took a bite and savored the cake. It was really good, but he definitely wasn't going to tell her that by ordering one in future. Maybe he could steal one and piss her off in the process, seemed like a better idea.

The day passed slowly and Emma found herself at the Grill when Caroline called and invited her. She had mentioned something about a new student.

Caroline and Bonnie waved to her when she entered the bar. Giving a smile back Emma weaved through people until she was next to the two girls. "Hey!" Caroline gave her a quick hug, whilst Bonnie simply smiled. Emma wasn't particularly close to any of the girls bar Caroline. They were all roughly five years younger than her so their paths never tended to cross. Caroline on the other hand had a really big sweet tooth and was always in the bakery, and Caroline was a talker. Irritating as it could be that Caroline didn't shut up sometimes, Emma had grown to love the blonde as a little sister.

"So, what's this about a new student?" Emma asked, mostly Caroline as she knew her friend. Her eyes lit up at the question. Such a gossip queen.

"His name is Stefan Salvatore. He lives with his uncle up at the old Salvatore boarding house." Caroline informed her.

"Zach?" Emma inquired.

"Yeah, that's the one. However, Stefan hasn't lived here since he was a kid. Military family, they moved around a lot. He's a Gemini and his favourite colour is blue." Caroline ended with a proud smile as the two gave her incredulous looks.

"You got all of that in one day?" Bonnie asked, shocked. Caroline looked down on her.

"Please, I got all of that between third and fourth period. We're planning a June wedding." The blonde replied. Emma chuckled.

"You should work for the FBI or something." Emma told her friend. "The stuff you can find out about people is a little impressive if I'm being honest."

"Thank you. It's a skill." Caroline smirked.

"It's scary, that's what it is." Bonnie piped up. A little while later the group was situated at a table, Emma ignoring the sad vibes emitting from Matt as he pouted about Elena. He left quickly when said girl entered the establishment with Stefan, the newbie.

Emma's eyes narrowed as she studied the boy. There was something familiar about him, and when he came closer she felt the same vibe coming from him as she got from Damon except he had a calmer and lot friendly aura. It came to Emma that she was meeting her second vampire in a week.

Stefan was introduced to the group, Emma watching him interact with the students. Either he was a very good actor or he simply had no other intentions than to get to know them. Especially Elena.

"Any siblings?" Elena asked him.

"None that I talk to." Stefan replied, not unkind but Emma saw it seemed to be a sore spot for him. His eyes spoke for him. She briefly wondered if he was Damon's brother as there seemed to be something similar about the two, nothing that stood out as they didn't look too much alike. There was just something she couldn't put her finger on.

The night ended after Stefan agreed to go to the back to school party that was being thrown the next night. Emma wasn't sure it was something she was going to attend, but was also confident Caroline would try and drag her there regardless.

Looking around all the teenagers, Emma cursed Caroline to the deepest pits of hell. Hanging with high school kids was not her idea of fun, add on the fact that she wasn't a drinker and Emma knew she wasn't going to have fun tonight. She couldn't even see the other blonde, but spotted Bonnie and Elena so made her way over to them.

"Hey guys, what's going on?"

"Not much, just looking for someone." Bonne replied, throwing a smirk Elena's way.

"And who would that be?" Emma asked. "Would it be a certain Stefan Salvatore that you couldn't take your eyes off last night?" Elena blushed prettily. "So, where is he?"

"I don't know. Bonnie, you're the psychic one. You tell me." Elena said with a raised brow. Emma looked at the dark skinned girl, she was psychic?

"Okay, well grams says I have to concentrate." the girl replied.

"I thought psychics needed a crystal ball, here use this." Emma grabbed a beer bottle and handed it over. It was glass, she assumed it would still work. Though she wasn't actually sure why a crystal ball was needed, but then again, she wasn't a psychic. Bonnie smiled as she grabbed the bottle, her fingers touching Emma's causing her to still for a moment before she pulled back sharply.

"Are you okay, Bonnie?" Elena asked with a frown.

"I saw blue eyes, blue eyes and a crow." Bonnie breathed heavily as she looked at the blonde. She suddenly shook her head and took a step back. It wasn't hard to see the girl was a little freaked out. Emma could only think of one person who had blue eyes off the top of her head, she frowned thinking of Damon. If he caused her problems she was going to kill the stupid vampire. "There isn't anything psychic about it, yeah? It was the drink. I'm going to go."

With that she was gone leaving the other two girls to look at each other in shock. They turned around to see Stefan stood before them making both girls jump in surprise.

"Hi." He said with a small smile.

"Hi." Elena breathed, happiness evident in her eyes as she looked at the boy before her. Stefan saw Emma and greeted her accordingly. Emma gave a polite smile and quickly left, it was clear the two wanted to be left alone.

Walking around the crowd Emma contemplated going home, that was until she saw Caroline sat on her own. Making her way over she was surprised to see the girl seemed unusually upset. Sitting beside her, she wrapped an arm around the taller girls shoulder.

"Caroline, what's wrong?"

"Why didn't he go for me?" Caroline sniffed.

"Who?"

"Stefan! He was all 'it's never going to happen.'" Caroline laughed in self pity as tears rolled down her cheeks. "How come Elena is always the one who gets picked and I don't? What is wrong with me?"

Emma frowned but realisation dawned on her. Caroline was usually a very confident girl, but she had made a deal to help Elena become more emotionally stable and nature always needed to keep things balanced. In making Elena emotionally more stable it had turned the tables and made Caroline less so.

"Don't think like that." Emma said strongly. "You are amazing, trust me. There are so many good qualities about you that if someone doesn't see them they're clearly blind, and therefore don't deserve you. And you Caroline Forbes, are not a girl who deserves to settle for anything less than what you deserve."

Caroline looked at her friend for a moment, as though trying to see if she was being truthful before wrapping her into a hug. "Thank you." she breathed. Emma didn't reply, simply rubbed her back in a soothing manner.

The rest of the night was rather uneventful until Vicki Donovan was found near the woods with a bloody bite wound on her neck. Emma's eyes shot to Stefan, but she dismissed that idea when she saw the very clear panicked look on his face before he disappeared into the crowd.

The ambulance soon came and most left to head to the Grill.

"Are you sober yet?" Bonnie asked Caroline.

"No." the blonde grumbled.

"Keep drinking. I got to get you home. I gotta get me home."

"I can drive her if you want to leave." Emma offered. Bonnie looked at her for a moment.

"Are you sure?"

"Absolutely, you look tired anyways. And I haven't drank at all." Emma answered.

"Right, you don't drink." Bonnie commented before saying goodbye to the two blondes and exiting the building. Sipping her water, Emma saw Caroline smiling towards someone. Turning to look, her eyes narrowed when she spotting Damon. Oh, hell no.

His blue eyes fell on hers and sent her a wink. Caroline looked between the two with a frown and sighed. Just perfect, she gets shut down by one guy and the other prefers her friend. She couldn't catch a break.

Emma settled a now passed out Caroline in the passenger seat of the car, shutting the door behind her before making her way around to the drivers side.

"That one's had a little bit too much to drink." Damon's voice hit her ears from behind. Turning around she saw him stood a couple of steps away, hands in his pockets which seemed to be a usual for him.

"Clearly." Emma sassed.

"Did I do something to upset you?" Damon asked, tilting his head to the side.

"Not yet." Emma replied cryptically. Damon simply hummed. "So I met your brother."

"I saw."

"Are you stalking me now?"

"Yes, is that a problem?" Damon responded casually, as though it was a usual thing for him to stalk people.

"Kind of, I mean, who likes being stalked by a vampire... besides Bella Swan?" Emma joked.

"Who?"

"Go read Twilight, I'm sure you'd get a kick out of it. It's about vampires, right up your alley, Dracula." Emma informed him. Damon shook his head with a sneer on his face.

"If you are going to give me a nick name, please find something better than Dracula." he complained.

"But it gives me joy to cause you discomfort." Emma deadpanned. "It's what I live for, the only thing that gives my life meaning."

"Yeah, okay fairy."

"Fairy?" Emma pulled a face. "Oh, is this because I gave you that fairy cake that you were too much of a wuss to be seen buying?" Damon narrowed his eyes at her tone, partly because she was right.

"And the other."

"Other what?"

"I know what you are." Damon said smugly.

"You think I'm a fairy?" Emma laughed.

"I didn't say that." Damon shot back. The two looked at each other before Emma opened her car door.

"I have to get this one home, so goodbye Damon." Emma paused as she sat in the car. "And please try not to attack any more people and leave them for dead, be much appreciated."

"Goodbye for now, Fairy."

The next day came and passed and darkness fell. Sitting in her bed in her shorts pyjamas, large bowl of popcorn in her lap Emma settled down for a relaxing night. Nothing but her, the popcorn and a whole lot of movies. Her phone had been turned off, she wasn't particularly in the mood to deal with people this night.

Emma was only twenty minutes into the movie when she realised Damon really was stalking her. Pausing the movie she glared at the leather draped vampire who was stood on her balcony. He gave her a wide smile, probably taking enjoyment from the annoyance he was causing her.

"Go away, perv!" she groaned. Damon gasped dramatically.

"How dare you call me that?"

"You watched me in my underwear!" Emma snapped back.

"You knew I was there, and still stripped. You clearly didn't mind." Damon smirked, folding his arms.

"I didn't realise until the last minute." The two stared at each other before Damon asked if she was going to allow him inside. "I don't think so." With that she started the movie again and did her best to ignore the man on her balcony.

Emma only lasted ten minutes. Damon had sat down, leaning against the glass doors. He didn't speak but kept tapping his knuckles against the glass continuously.

"If I allow you inside will you stop being annoying?" Emma snapped, truly annoyed now. Damon jumped up with a cheeky smile.

"Who knows. That's a risk you're just going to have to take." Glaring, the blonde stood from the bed and put her snack to the side. Opening the door with a dramatic flair, she stared at Damon.

"Damon, would you please come inside."

"Oh, if you insist." Damon replied, grinning as he stepped inside the room. Emma felt herself tensing in frustration as she watched the vampire take off his shoes and jacket, then proceed to grab her bowl of popcorn and start munching away. He stopped to look at her, from his laid down position on her bed. "So, what are we watching?"

I'm only posting this one because I have it but I have to ask how often you would like updates? Once a week? More than that? Just let me know and I will try to make it happen.

Also, what length would you like me to write chapters?
