VENTISETTE
Jacqueline couldn't explain how she currently felt. It was confusing to say the least. She was sure that it couldn't be nerves, but her she was feeling an unexplainable weight on her chest. As if the next few hours of her life were going to be important. Jacqueline scoffed at the mere thought. It sounded like Giovanni's dramatic ways have rubbed off on her now!
Jacqueline figured the most logical explanation for this feeling was nervousness. But what would she have to be nervous about anyway?
Nothing.
However, that did not explain the sudden weight on her chest. It was a crushing feeling, really. Maybe it's got to do with Damon?
Jacqueline highly doubted that though.
Damon was barely a blimp on her radar on a regular day let alone at a party. Something had to be wrong with her but the thought of foregoing the party only made her chest feel even tighter. So she had unfortunately resigned herself to an uncomfortable night...
After all, someone has to make sure Elena doesn't cause more trouble.
Clearly Jacqueline couldn't trust Elena to do that herself. The Salvatore brothers were in no way helping resolve the situation either. In fact, Jacqueline wondered why Elena was attending the ball in the first place. Jacqueline couldn't imagine attending her 'enemies' party even if she had been invited.
It didn't make too much sense.
Jacqueline really hoped it wasn't some ploy on Elena's part.
Shaking her head she glanced in the mirror once again. Her face remained free of most makeup, with the exception of smudged eyeliner to give her lashes a more Smokey effect and lipstick. Jacqueline was wearing a dark blood red dress - she felt a little amused at the irony of being a BloodWitch in a blood red dress. Though she could accurately say she looked stunningly sexy. The dress fit her curves wonderfully. Not only did is elegantly show off her DD boobs, but the ass she had worked to maintain.

Over all she looked good, great even.
Heading downstairs Jacqueline only paused in the living room to collect her phone and keys. She was meeting Damon at the Mikaelson mansion. Jacqueline was aware of the fact he only asked her as his date so that he wouldn't be alone. She was thankful for the honesty and the company.
Being in love with his brothers girl must be exhausting.
Jacqueline rolled her eyes at the thought. Honestly, she didn't really see what the fuss was with Elena. Was it really that had to pick a brother and stick with him?
Apparently so.
Sighing again Jacqueline slid in the drivers seat of the car and drove towards the party. Reaching out with her magic Jacqueline ensured her heartbeat was concealed as she neared the mansion. It was precautionary and necessary - she didn't want them to know how she truly felt if she didn't want to share.
Looking the epitome of calm confidence was key.
Indifference is her friend tonight.
Especially when Jacqueline was going to have to be on the lookout for anyone causing trouble. While she knew Jeremy would keep to himself... it was Elena, Caroline, Bonnie, Matt, Stefan and Damon she had to be wary of. That in itself was going to be a full time job tonight.
Great.
Pulling up she parked her car and easily spotted the blue camaro containing an annoying vampire. Jacqueline didn't particularly like Damon but she begrudgingly could acknowledge that have a little in common. So with a huff, Jacqueline got out of her car and expectantly waited for him to approach.
"You look good" Damon said with a cocky leer
Jacqueline smiled a little anyway, her ego wasn't hurt by the compliment in any way. Jacqueline knew she looked good - having others know it too was half the fun.
"You look different without the leather jacket" Jacqueline retorted
Damon chuckled and held an arm out for her to hold. Jacqueline raised a brow incredulously... if he thought she would be making it known that she'd his 'date' he was fooling himself. That was the absolute last thing she wanted to do.
Damon snorted as if he knew what she was thinking.
"I'll lead the way, Salvatore" Jacqueline simply said before making her way up the stairs to the mansion. Jacqueline honed in on the lessons Giovanni had given her about elegance and appearance.
"First impressions are everything, dear" Giovanni had said smirking smugly. "Embrace your assets and use them. Cause looks, my dear, can kill"
Jacqueline straightened her spine as she had been taught. Her head was held high, chin raised and shoulders back. Jacqueline added a little more sway in her hips and strut to her step but not enough that it was obvious.
"I always did like a woman who knew what she wanted" Damon muttered as he followed behind her without much complaint.
The doors were opened for her when she reached the top of the stairs. Jacqueline let a small crackle of magic into the air, knowing it would capture every supernaturals attention. Jacqueline was pleased to see various heads turn her way when she walked in.
The theatrics never failed to make things entertaining...
Jacqueline was not ashamed to admit as much either. She had, of course, learnt from the best. Giovanni was much more extravagant in her own theatrics than Jacqueline anyway. Striding forward, Jacqueline moved with a practiced elegance. Her sights were set on the bar and nothing was getting in her way until she reached her destination. Jacqueline heard Damon chuckle as he caught up with her again. She barely looked at him as she kept a neutral and confident demeanour.
"Problem?" Jacqueline hummed
"I thought I was dramatic" Damon smirked knowingly
"I'm not dramatic" Jacqueline denied before she could really think about it. Guess she was too prideful to admit it... oh well.
Damon snorted.
Jacqueline gave him the side eye as she boiled the blood in his veins. She watched Damon fidget and glare at her but he remained quite now. Jacqueline retracted her magic with a satisfied smirk turning up the corners of her lips.
"Seriously?" Damon hissed in annoyance
Jacqueline gave him a look, "It's not like I did any real damage. Don't get your panties in a knot over it" she rolled her eyes with a sarcastic snort
Damon huffed, "Whatever"
"Damon" Carol Lockwood called from behind them. Both Damon and Jacqueline turned to the new Mayor of Mystic Falls.
"Carol" Damon greeted with a tight smile as he grabbed a glass of champagne. "Hanging out with your new besties?" He accused
Carol sighed, "I'm the Mayor, Damon. When the worlds oldest, deadliest, family of vampires moves into your town - you welcome them with a smile"
"Hmn" Damon hummed, "At least you know who your borrowing that cup of sugar from, right?"
"I'm trying to protect this town. They've assured me that they want peace..." Carol said sternly, "And I've assured them I'll enforce it"
Damon looked like he had a lot to say about that, but after a pointed look from Carol, decided it wasn't the time or place. Jacqueline rolled her eyes - for once she actually agreed with Carol on something. These people are humans armed with a little vervain and wooden bullets... they're nothing special.
Certainly not against indestructible vampires!
Damon was a complete moron if he encouraged them to go against the originals. The town of Mystic Falls would pay the price for his cockiness. Damon would be killed right along with the rest of the humans for waging a war he couldn't fight in the first place.
"Mayor Lockwood?" An unfamiliar male voice drew out from behind them. The vampire extended his hand to Carol with a smile. "We haven't formally met yet. Kol Mikaelson. We hope your lovely town embraces us just as much as we plan to embrace it"
Carol smiled, "A pleasure-"
"Damon Salvatore" Damon cut in extending his hand to Kol with a smirk. "Have we met?"
Kol looked indifferent to Damon's attempts to interfere. "I've met a lot of people, but you don't particularly stand out" Kol retorted
Jacqueline snorted.
Kol looked at Jacqueline and smiled widely, "You, my dearest, stand out amongst the largest of crowds"
"Charming" Jacqueline nodded approvingly at the line being thrown her way. It might not have her drooling over him, but it sure was smoothly done.
Kol grinned, "Expect nothing less from a Mikaelson"
Jacqueline chuckled and shook Kol's hand, watching his eyes shine in interest. Though she always could tell when it was interest in her or interest in her magic. This was the latter but she didn't particularly mind the attention. Especially not from the famous Kol Mikaelson.
"I'm gonna go see if Elena's here" Damon sighed grumpily
"Won't she be with Stefan already if she is here?" Jacqueline shot back unable to help taking the dig when she got the chance. Jacqueline may have ended up in bed with Damon, but it didn't mean she liked the guy.
Cause she doesn't.
Really the only reason it happened was because they were both in the mood and Damon was convenient. Plus the alcohol in her system had made him appear more like a fun time than he should have been. Jacqueline knew it held no meaning to either of them though.
But it doesn't undo the fact Damon causes trouble.
More trouble than he's worth.
Damon glared at her comment but didn't respond. Instead he walked away in search of Elena and Stefan. Jacqueline's eyes couldn't help but narrow on his retreating form. She knew he was up to something, hiding something, and she wanted to know what it was.
And she will find out - one way or another...
"If everyone could gather around please!" Elijahs voice rang out through the room.
Jacqueline turned to face the large staircase in the centre of the room. The Mikaelson family truly were a sight to behold. They radiated power and superiority as they stood together on the stairs. No doubt a purposeful display of family unity and strength. Jacqueline could admire it regardless of it being a power play or not.
It was a sight to be rivalled.
"Welcome. Thank you for joining us" Elijah gave a welcoming smile to the crowd of guests below him. "You know, whenever my mother brings us together like this, it's tradition for us to commence the evening with a dance. Tonight's pick is a centuries old waltz. So if all of you could find yourself a partner and join us in the ballroom"
Jacqueline felt eyes on her.
She looked up and met the stare of none other then Esther Mikaelson.
Jacqueline smirked when she saw the disgusted glare being sent her way. With eyes dancing in amusement she tipped her chin at the witch and walked away. Nature Bound Witches, Jacqueline rolled her eyes, a judgmental group.
"Jacqueline" Stefan said as he approached her side. Holding a hand out, Stefan looked expectant for her to dance.
Jacqueline sighed.
Her eyes searched for her sister who she found was rather obviously preening under Damon Salvatores attention. Jacqueline shook her head and took pity on Stefan. Clasping his hand she allowed him to lead her to the dance floor for the waltz. Jacqueline was just glad that Giovanni had organised a dance class for her at the Coven before the big gala a few years ago.
Otherwise she'd be utterly lost.
Jacqueline was way too prideful to do anything in a sophisticated setting such as this, that would make her flounder.
It wasn't gonna happen.
Still, Jacqueline was just glad she didn't have to do much other than follow Stefans lead. The waltz wasn't the most difficult dance in the world either - even if this type of dancing isn't really her forte. As the music started Jacqueline moved in time with the steps. Her concentration remained mostly on the dance. Though she didn't have any hope for conversation as Stefan kept his eyes and ears on Elena and Damon across the room. Jacqueline rolled her eyes at how pathetic he looked right about now. At least she kept her comments to herself this time though.
The music picked up.
And they switched partners.
Jacqueline found herself in the arms of none other than Elijah Mikaelson. Though of all the people in this town that she had met - she liked Elijah the most.
"Elijah" Jacqueline greeted the man with a small smile as they danced.
Elijah smiled briefly as well. "Hello Miss. Gilbert"
"Please, it's just Jacqueline" she assured him easily. "Im not even an actual Gilbert" Jacqueline said with an eye roll as she added, "Something Im increasingly grateful for the longer I spend in this town"
Elijah chuckled, "If I may inquire, what is your family name?" He asked in interest
"Mancinelli" Jacqueline drew the word out delicately, knowing it spoke for itself. The pride and confidence she felt about her birth family was clear to all. Originally Jacqueline hadn't been planning on advertising the fact. However, considering Esther seemed knowledgeable enough to pick her out... hiding it was pointless.
Elijah raised a brow, "I assume that's a significant name within the witch community"
Jacqueline grinned at him slyly. "Depends how ignorant of a witch you are" she announced. "Within the BloodWitch community it would be equivalent to your family's status" she revealed
"Really?" Elijah asked interested.
Jacqueline nodded, "The Mancinelli family is descended from the first BloodWitch"
"I must admit I am, unfortunately, not too versed on the origins of magic and witches" Elijah admitted as formal as ever. "The many covens I have been fortunate enough to seek knowledge from didn't posses the true origin story from the very creation"
Jacqueline hummed, "Ignorance truly is a shame. My Coven has worked extensively to keep intact the true history - free from the bias and greed that now laces current versions of history"
The music picked up again.
And they changed partners again.
Jacqueline found herself partnered with Kol Mikaelson who looked very much like the cat who ate the canary. The charming grin that stretched on Kol's face was more calculating than anything. Kol smiled as they danced, "Hello, darling"
"Mhmmn" Jacqueline hummed, instantly wary of the gleam in his eyes.
Kol chuckled, "Don't be alarmed. I only happened to hear your conversation with my big brother" he said with an eye roll that said he didn't think anything wrong of listening in.
Jacqueline laughed a little.
"What exactly is it that you want?" Jacqueline asked with a knowing look in her eyes as she started at him expectantly.
Kol pulled a face, "A little harsh, love"
Jacqueline rolled her eyes and shrugged. "I can see it on your face - you want something from me and your trying to figure out how to get it. I'd rather you just ask" she said dryly
Kol grinned, "Well in that case... I would like to be introduced to your Coven. I believed BloodWitches to be extinct until now. Knowing there's a whole Coven..." Kol looked positively thrilled at the idea.
Jacqueline sighed.
"Come on, darling, it would be great!" Kol whined, "I could teach you anything you want to know"
Jacqueline snorted, "You don't know much about BloodWitches, do you?" She smirked at him in amusement. "There isn't a thing you could teach us that we don't already know"
Kol frowned, "I'm just over a 1000 years old, darling. I'm positive there is one spell-"
"Your not listening" Jacqueline insisted with a sly grin. "You misunderstand our magic entirely. We don't need spells to perform magic" her time was a little incredulous.
They were more powerful than that.
Stupid Nature Bound Witches uninformed teachings...
Kol looked confused as his arms tightened around her to an almost painful point. "You can't do magic without a spell-"
"Truly, I do pity the witches taught from the teachings of righteous-" Jacqueline hissed but stopped when Kol's hand tightened painfully on her hand. "Hold me any tighter and I'll break your arm" Jacqueline challenged
Kol grinned devilishly
Jacqueline met Kol's eyes and held them as the crack of Kol's fingers prying themselves off her arm was heard. Kol's eyes widened in surprise when they didn't heal. He looked between his hand and her irritated face.
"That was interesting, darling" Kol admitted before looking back at her pointedly. "Now allow my hand to heal again"
Jacqueline rolled her eyes but relinquished her hold on his healing abilities.
They continued dancing silently as they studied the other.
"How did you do that without a spell?" Kol asked, fascination and curiosity plainly in his voice.
Jacqueline hummed, "Think of magic like a limb, right?" She waited for him to nod before continuing. "Well you don't need a verbal command to move your arm - only the want to do it. Magic is every part of my person. Mind, body, soul - my magic is my own. It can't be controlled, taken or drained. My magic works my will with no more command necessary than my want of something"
Kol looked like she'd just presented him with a real life unicorn.
Jacqueline snorted.
"Anything told to you about BloodWitches from anyone not a BloodWitch is likely false" Jacqueline sighed
The music ended.
Jacqueline smiled at Kol who was watching her every move in awe. She chuckled before walking away. After that dance she was in serious need of a strong drink or two.
Jacqueline was standing near the bar as she watched the people around her interact. The night had gone better than she expected. Though Damon's current absence was a little alarming.
"Champagne please"
Jacqueline turned when she heard the voice. Her eyes landing on a young looking blonde woman. Rebekah Mikaelson, her mind supplied. Jacqueline recognised the blonde from her time on the staircase during the speeches earlier. Jacqueline blinked as she inspected the woman - the green dress was beautiful and unlike many tonight, Rebekah hadn't gone overboard with makeup to look good.
Much like Jacqueline herself.
"Bad night?" Jacqueline asked, her voice kind and friendly as she addressed the woman.
"Yeah..." Rebekah trailed off, glancing at Jacqueline before taking the drink. "You?"
Jacqueline shrugged, "It's been alright so far" She said
"I heard your conversation with my brother - Kol. You handled yourself well. I think you even managed to surprise Elijah" Rebekah said, chucking a little as she did so.
Jacqueline smiled.
"Anyway where's your date? Didn't you come here with Damon?" Rebekah asked looking around the room for the man in question.
"Damon's chasing Elena I assume" Jacqueline waved a dismissive hand at the question.
"Your sister?" Rebekah echoed in disgust. "You don't care?"
"Oh no!" Jacqueline quickly corrected the blonde. "Damon and I aren't a thing. He invited me cause we were both going alone and he didn't want to have to follow Elena and Stefan around the entire time"
Rebekah smiled, "I'm assuming that's what he did anyway though"
"You'd be correct" Jacqueline laughed shaking her head in amusement. "What about you? I thought I saw you dancing with Matt?" She recalled briefly
Rebekah sighed
"It's going that well then?" Jacqueline nodded knowingly.
"He's off somewhere with his ex" Rebekah said sulking before she brightened a little and looked to Jacqueline. "No matter now though, we can keep each other company"
Jacqueline nodded, "Sound good to me" she agreed easily. Jacqueline wasn't exactly sure why, but she thought some company would be nice. Rebekah seemed genuine enough for her to be able to have a real conversation with.
That made Rebekah good in Jacqueline's books.
The two smiled and started idly chatting about nothing important. There wasn't anything too thrilling about the topic of conversation but it was enough to brighten both their nights. Jacqueline was able to forget why she was worried about Elena for a little while. She noticed that Rebekah hadn't once looked over at Matt and Caroline. She was glad the blonde clearly wasn't too upset over Matt.
Jacqueline was given a little hope that maybe she had made a friend in this town.
God knows she might need one!
A commotion outside the mansion caught both their attentions. Jacqueline and Rebekah were up and checking on it as soon as they realised what was happening. Jacqueline groaned when Stefan, Elena, Klaus, Elijah and Fin already stood staring at Damon hovering over Kol's dead body.
At least he wouldn't stay dead...
"Are you crazy?" Stefan asked in disbelief as he advanced on Damon.
Damon nodded, "Yeah... a little"
"Damon?" Elena whispered looking rather hurt. As if this had all been a personal attack on Elena, planned with the purpose of upsetting her night.
Damon still winced.
Jacqueline sighed, "You three-" She brandished a finger at the three of them. "Home. Now. One of you or both for all I care can make sure Elena gets there" Jacqueline said through gritted teeth.
When Damon looked ready to protest Jacqueline crushed his windpipe without doing more than glancing in his direction.
Damon wheezed loudly.
"Elijah" Jacqueline sighed as she turned to the man. "Please express my deepest apologies to you mother for the inconvenience. As well as to Kol for the trouble they've caused"
Elijah looked briefly surprised but nodded respectfully nonetheless.
"Jacqueline-" Elena started
Jacqueline shot Elena a look that could quite possibly kill. "Home. Now" was all Jacqueline had to say before Elena squeaked and rushed to leave. Stefan and Damon following behind Elena after casting a wary look at Jacqueline.
Jacqueline sighed.
Moving towards the front door of the mansion Jacqueline prepared to leave. At least until Rebekah caught up with her again.
"I find myself in need of a drink now" Rebekah said as she cast a glance at Jacqueline. "You could join me at the Grill if you want"
It was a question.
Jacqueline nodded in relief, "A drink sounds perfect" she agreed
Rebekah smiled a little before following Jacqueline to her car. Both of them climbing in as Jacqueline drove them to the Grill for late night drinks. After the nights they'd both had... they deserved to get a little drunk. Jacqueline pulled up outside the Grill and parked the car before getting out.
It was only then that she asked a question.
"So? I saw Matt practically run out of there. What happened?" Jacqueline asked, genuinely wanting to know about Rebekah's night.
Rebekah sighed, "Matt was only there with me because he didn't really think he could say no. Tonight made that clear enough! Kol noticed though. He was making fun of me and I, of course, pretended as if I didn't care. Technically I said that it was mother's rules that prevented me from killing Matt..." Rebekah ducked her head a little as if preparing for disapproval.
Jacqueline only felt understanding.
"I get it" Jacqueline said seemingly surprising Rebekah with that answer. Jacqueline continued, "I've never been too good at expressing my emotions. I feel them, of course, but that doesn't mean I want everyone to know I feel them"
Rebekah smiled and nodded, "Yes. I tend to struggle to hide them sometimes. Sadness turns into anger and pettiness in the effort of concealing them"
"And yet no matter how much mess I make of a situation because of it - I'm admittedly too selfish to regret that my pride is more important" Jacqueline smirked knowingly
Rebekah laughed.
They moved into the Mystic Grill where they both approached the bar and ordered some bourbon.
The good kind.
They had earned as much tonight.
"There's Matt" Jacqueline pointed out when the blonde quarterback walked into the restaurant. Matt didn't seem to notice them though as he clutched his broken hand. Jacqueline felt a stab of pity for the guy but it was gone when she remembered that he put himself here.
He shouldn't have strung Rebekah along.
He could have said he wasn't interested... but he hadn't. No, Matt had accepted the invitation to what was so clearly a date and then spent that time with his ex. Matt had ignored Rebekah for a good portion of the night - Jacqueline knew cause she spent it talking to Rebekah.
Matt kinda deserved that broken hand.
"I think I owe him an apology drink" Rebekah sighed and bit her lip in clear nervousness. "Right?" She asked looking to Jacqueline for an opinion.
Jacqueline shrugged, "Personally I don't think you owe him anything. If he wasn't interested in you then he should have said so. If he had then none of this would have happened. Though if your looking for him to possibly take a chance at a re-do then you should start with the drink" she said easily
Rebekah sighed before nodding slowly. Determination creeping onto the blondes face.
Rebekah grabbed a glass and walked across the bar towards Matt. Apology in hand and a charming smile ready to heal any wounded male pride.
Jacqueline approved the methods.
"Hey" Damon said appearing suddenly beside her at the bar.
Jacqueline nodded at him, "Hey" she echoed and took another sip of her drink.
Damon poured himself one and they stood in silence. He looked over at Rebekah and Matt with a sympathetic wince. "Burn. Rejected by the caption of the football team"
"Shut up, Damon" Jacqueline said giving him a look
Damon shrugged and poured the three of them shots as Rebekah dejectedly rejoined them. "Here" he handed out the drinks. "You would have broken him anyway" Damon said
Jacqueline wasn't sure if that was supposed to be an insult or comfort?
Though either way she didn't think it helped.
"Are you saying you don't think I can be gentle?" Rebekah scowled at Damon
Damon poured more shots for them all. He grinned, "I think you should find someone more durable. Like I've found..." he wiggled his brows at Jacqueline suggestively. The question he wanted an answer to hung silently in the air.
Jacqueline shrugged, "Rebekah and I are drinking" she said
Rebekah sent her a grateful smile.
Obviously the blonde hadn't wanted to be alone, as Jacqueline had suspected was the case. Jacqueline knew how that felt... being alone. Which was why she would give up a night of fun for a night of pouting miserably.
Damon looked thoughtful before an even dirtier grin took over his face. "Who said it had to only be a party of two?" He grinned
Jacqueline tilted her head at him.
Rebekah raised her brows.
Damon flashed them his best panty dropping smirk. His eyes even twinkled a little in excitement at the wicked ideas no doubt already in his head. "What cures loneliness and heartbreak better then a little sex?"
"Im not lonely!" Jacqueline snapped at the same time as Rebekah.
"My heart isn't broken!" Rebekah had snapped simultaneously to Jacquelines own protest.
Damon looked smug.
Jacqueline looked at Rebekah and sought either acceptance or denial. Jacqueline was secretly glad she found acceptance and both women silently turned back to Damon.
Damon poured three more shots with a giant grin on his face. "My place it is then ladies"
