VENTIOTTO

Jacqueline groaned a little as she stretched out in the bed. The nice, soft, silky bed... wait what? Jacqueline blinked her eyes opened and looked around the room.

Oh.

Damon's bedroom.

Damon's bed.

Jacqueline was naked in Damon's bed with- with a naked Rebekah and Damon right alongside her.

Well wasn't that just fantastic...

As the events from the night before flashed through her mind she reached out with magic and silenced all noise she could make. Jacqueline wasn't going to stick around any longer. She didn't need to see Damon's reaction to the previous night.

Standing up, she looked for her clothing.

Jacqueline picked up her dress and then - in a moment of compassion for another - she softly went to wake Rebekah up. No doubt her new friend would want to get out of here before Damon wakes up as well. Especially considering neither of them actually liked Damon very much.

"Rebekah" Jacqueline quietly shook then blondes arm.

Rebekah blinked at her in confusion before the blondes light blues eyes widened. "What- oh my god"

Jacqueline hummed sarcastically, "Yeah. I'll give you a ride home if you want"

Rebekah nodded.

Jacqueline handed Rebekah her green dress and turned as Rebekah got dressed. With a small spell ensuring no noise reached Damon's ears, the man continued sleeping peacefully. After the night they'd had it was unsurprising that Damon was exhausted.

Jacqueline smirked a little.

It had been an experience, that's for sure. An experienced that Jacqueline never considered participating in before last night. Though she didn't regret it now... she just wasn't keen on letting Damon know that.

"Ready" Rebekah whispered

Jacqueline nodded and smiled a little at the blonde. They both made their way out of Damon's room, quietly shutting the door behind them.

"Still friends?" Rebekah asked trying not to seem worried about Jacqueline's answer

Jacqueline smiled, "I was just wondering the same thing" she admitted before nodding her head. "We're still friends. I'm glad I'll have one in this town"

Rebekah smiled too.

They walked as quietly and quickly as possible down the stairs in the Salvatore Boardinghouse. Neither wanted to stick around for Damon to wake up.

Or for Stefan to get home.

Jacqueline should be mad that Stefan had stayed with Elena - she should be pissed her instructions had been ignored once again. Then she thought about what she had spent the night doing...

Maybe she could let it go just this once?

It would probably be best.

"Last night was..." Rebekah hesitated as she cast Jacqueline a look of uncertainty.

Jacqueline only nodded in agreement. "Yeah, it was... but I'll never let Damon know that" she said with a small smirk

Rebekah laughed.

The sound of the front door opening had both women stopping in their tracks. Jacqueline was glad her magic concealed her heart rate from sounding as if it were beating anything but casually.

Cause, well, SHIT!

"Damon?!" Elena called out from the doorway of the boarding house

Jacqueline's eyes closed as she winced. Of all people to catch her in the aftermath of a threesome - why did it have to be Elena?!

"Damon? Jacqueline? Hello?!" Elena called as she ventured further into the house and closer to them. "Why is Jacqueline's car here, Damon?!" Elena screeched

Rebekah's lip curled in annoyance and she cast a look at Jacqueline in sympathy. "I could distract her if you wanted? Tell her that I had your car and then meet you out there?" Rebekah offered kindly

"Really?" Jacqueline was surprised by the offer

Rebekah nodded, "Sure. We are friends after all, right?"

Jacqueline smiled in relief and nodded thankfully at Rebekah. "Thanks"

Rebekah nodded and ventured out into the living room to greet Elena. "Hello Elena" Rebekah said knowing Elena would realise from the crumpled appearance what she had been here doing.

Elena looked disgusted and hurt.

"What are you doing here!" Elena shouted even though she seemed to know already. "Where's Jacqueline?!"

"I borrowed your sisters car last night after the ball" Rebekah shrugged carelessly which only angered Elena more.

Jacqueline took the opportunity to escape out of the house. She knew Elena's screeching would wake Damon up and hoped he'd keep his mouth shut to Elena. Though Jacqueline doubted he would keep this too himself for long. Not if a perfect opportunity to rub it in Elena's face arose.

Cause Damon's desperately in love with Elena.

And Elena is in love with having both brothers love her. Elena won't pick one of them - not when she can have both pining after her and clinging to whatever attention she gives them.

Last night didn't really mean anything.

It was fun.

Drunken fun that was supposed to distract them from loneliness and broken hearts. It had served its purpose. It had given the three of them a night of distraction and fun, as it was supposed to do.

But it's over now.

Jacqueline will go back to pretending she didn't wish she had someone who was simply there for her. Someone she could trust completely. Someone she could confide in.

Rebekah will go back to being lonely in the face of rejection and heart break.

Damon will go back to being hurt watching the girl he loves kiss his brother.

The distraction is over and real life is back in full force. Jacqueline only sighed as she climbed into her car and waited on Rebekah to make her own exit. Hopefully Rebekah allowing Elena to catch her leaving will be enough for Damon to get the rise out of Elena he thrives off getting. Jacqueline only imagined Elena finding out about this would make things worse.

Elena wasn't the most adventurous person...

Jacqueline sighed.

Rebekah opened the passenger door and gave a small smile.

Jacqueline started up the car and drove down the road. "Thanks for that" she said and genuinely meant it.

Jacqueline was positive she had drunk more alcohol in the last week then in the past 3 years. Apparently being in Mystic Falls again was turning her into an alcoholic. Jacqueline found herself thankful that she has higher tolerance and way to prevent hangovers. Otherwise she wouldn't have been able to function all week at this rate.

The bartender didn't even need prompt to bring her a bottle of bourbon.

Jacqueline felt that was equal parts amazing and embarrassing at the same time. Though she didn't give it much thought as she took a seat at the bar for a few drinks.

This afternoon had been horrible.

Elena was mad at Stefan and Damon. The girl hadn't been out of her mind with jealousy about Damon sleeping with Rebekah. Stefan hadn't understood what the big deal was and ended up kissing Elena off for saying as much. Jacqueline had spent hours hearing Elena complain about it and was now even more thankful Rebekah had covered for her this morning.

The one time Jacqueline made the mistake of voicing her opinion to Elena, had been the reason she needed a drink.

A strong drink!

"Hello, love" Klaus greeted with an amused smile as he watched her down the alcohol like it was the cure to all life's problems.

Jacqueline poured them shots as way of greeting.

Honestly she was just hoping they wouldn't leave her to drink alone. Jacqueline had been doing that far too much of that lately. She didn't particularly want to continue another night of drinking alone - not when Klaus and Kol were drinking only one stool down from herself.

Kol chuckled but accepted the shot of alcohol. "Rough day, darling?"

"Try rough week" Jacqueline snorted and downed her own shot. She shrugged, "But Im looking for entertainment"

"I'm happy to be of service" Kol smirked

The three of them continued drinking and lightly arguing for the rest of the afternoon. Jacqueline was hardly surprised to find that Kol and Klaus were funny. Especially when the two got to arguing over the littlest things. Jacqueline was glad she had made the decision to try and enforce peace in town. Cause she could see herself being friends with the two brothers.

They were a lot like her actually.

Klaus was similar to the more aggressive side of Jacqueline. He was the kill first and think it through after the fact, type.

Kol was the more playful and carefree type of person. Jacqueline could relate to that too. Especially when she had people around her that she had great friendly banter with.

"Okay, okay" Kol hastily poured another round of shots. "I was online yesterday and I heard of this game, I believe it's called - truth or dare"

Klaus rolled his eyes, "The game is for teenagers stealing their parents alcohol at a sleepover"

Jacqueline snorted and grabbed her drink, downing it before Kol could protest.

Kol poured, "Come on now, darling. How am I supposed to get answers about your magic if not through a truth game?"

Jacqueline rolled her eyes, "We're drinking, Kol, not talking about magic"

Kol sulked

"Besides that game is more about figuring out people's secrets than anything important" Jacqueline shrugged as Kol suddenly looked more interest. "Like first kisses or something equally as cheesy"

"Well, in that case" Kol grinned and took a drink. "My first kiss was a village girl. A real harlot to be honest-"

"Shut up, Kol" Klaus said with an exasperated shake of his head.

"Oh whatever brother" Kol retorted as he opened his mouth to begin a disagreement. No doubt going to bring up the fact he had been daggered at least a few times.

But Jacqueline couldn't hear any of it anymore. Images flashed through her mind instead.

Alaric tapped Kol on the shoulder, a sigh escaping Kol as he turned to face the annoying local hunter. "Wha-" Kol began but was cut off by a stake to the heart. Kol struggled to breathe. His eyes wide in shock, mouth agape and skin turning an ugly shade of grey.

Kol looked down at his chest - a white oak stake was burried in his heart.

Jacqueline blinked away the images and eyed Kol warily. He was still arguing with Klaus about his daggering back in New Orleans a few hundred years ago.

"Let It go already, Kol!" Klaus sighed in exasperation as the two argued

Rebekah suddenly gasped in pain. Hands flying to her heart and chest as she frowned. Excruciating pain caused Rebekah to stagger backwards. Bonnie smiled almost kindly as she watched Rebekah fall. Grey veins appearing on Rebekah's body despite the fact there was no dagger in her chest.

Jacqueline shook her head to clear it of the images. She knew it had to be a premonitions - something that hadn't happened yet.

Something she could and should ensure doesn't happen.

Elijah opened his mouth in a soundless gasp of pain. His eyes narrowed on Elena who looked away quickly. Elijah surged forward and grabbed Elena's shoulders. "What did you do?!" Elijah yelled

Elena looked hurt, "I am sorry it had to be done. I only really wanted Klaus dead... but there was no other way"

Elijah felt and looked betrayed by the girl he had tried his best to help. Despite the fact that helping Elena meant going against his very own brother. Now he was dying because of that kindness.

Jacqueline coughed loudly as she blinked out of the vision. She could feel their pain as if it had been her own. She reached blindly for the bottle of alcohol and took a sip just in time.

Fin looked to Esther in alarm as his skin began to turn grey. "Mother?" He called in confusion.

Esther rushed to his side, "This isn't part of the plan! Something is wrong!" Esther cried in anger and selfish worry

The glass bottle slipped from Jacqueline's hands and she clutched at her chest. Breathing hard she blinked when both Klaus and Kol hovered worriedly in front of her.

"I can feel your pain" Jacqueline wheezed and hunched forward in agony.

Kol and Klaus exchanged a confused look.

Jacqueline knew the easiest way to make them understand. Her hands shot out and grabbed both men. As another part of the vision played out she knew they would see and feel all she did.

Caroline huffed and sat on the bench beside Klaus. "So? Talk then" Caroline said and cast a nervous and knowing glance at the Grill.

Klaus smiled a little, "I want to talk about you, love. Your hopes and dreams, hm?"

Caroline rolled her eyes, "I'm too smart to be seduced by you" she retorted

Klaus was about to laugh when pain shot through his chest. He coughed and jumped to his feet. Grey veins appeared on his skin and he looked at Caroline's guilty face. "What have you done to me?!" Klaus yelled in rage

Caroline shied away, "It wasn't me" she whispered guilty

"Kol" Klaus said suddenly when Caroline looked at the Grill again. Klaus sped to the alley way outside the Grill without worrying about anyone seeing him.

Alaric, Damon and Stefan stood over Kol's dying body. The white oak stake protruding from his chest. Klaus growled and flashed forward, ripping the stake from his younger brothers chest.

Jacqueline sucked in a breath and let go of Kol and Klaus. Her hand moving in kneed the area on her chest. It felt like she had been stabbed a few times when in reality nothing had touched her.

Klaus looked murderous, "What was that?" He snarled

Jacqueline didn't bother reacting to his anger though. "It's something that shouldn't happen" she said hoarsely

Kol frowned, "Was it not a vision?"

"Sort of" Jacqueline nodded before sighing. "I only get them about situations that need to be prevented. Your family can't die - I can't let you die" she said seriously

Kol looked surprised and completely curious.

Klaus seemed to believe her explanation though. He calmed a little now that he knew she was helping him not plotting against him.

Jacqueline sighed and looked around the Grill. Her eyes landing on Stefan, Damon and Alaric who were oblivious to what had just happened.

Oblivious to the warning she received.

Jacqueline reached out with her magic. Ignoring the fact the Kol and Klaus stiffened when they felt the pure power in the air around them. Kol's curious and impressed eyes burned into the side of her face. Jacqueline only continued to concentrate on the task at hand though.

Damon, Stefan and Alaric stood up and marched in a ridiculous line towards the alley of the Grill.

"What the hell?" Damon yelped as he tried to sit back down again.

"I think it's Jacqueline" Stefan whispered to Damon.

Alaric gulped, "What is she doing?" Alaric asked but received only equally worried looks from Damon and Stefan in response.

Jacqueline held an arm out to Klaus and Kol, inviting them to go first. Both men chuckled a little as they all make their way to meet the three morons. Jacqueline wasn't impressed with that these three plus Bonnie, Caroline and Elena had been planning.

She was going to make that known.

Instilling a little fear in them while she was at it. Possibly break a few bones too - there's gotta be consequences after all...

Jacqueline wasn't really going anywhere specific. She didn't really have anything to do. With the incident with Kol and Klaus now hopefully sorted out, Jacqueline was left alone again. Elena had stayed with Damon and Stefan last night. Apparently Elena and the rest of the little 'Scooby gang' were pissed that Jacqueline got in their way. If Elena's screeching last night told her anything - it was that she had no regard for the consequences of her actions.

Consequences they didn't seem to understand.

There's a reason that The Original Vampires are so invulnerable. They're the beginning of a bloodline. Theory suggests that if one of them were to die, so would the rest of the bloodline. While it still remained only theory... Jacqueline was not looking to test its validity.

How Elena didn't understand that was beyond Jacqueline's comprehension.

It was exhausting.

Jacqueline knew that most thought that vampires were a curse on nature. Reality is quite the opposite. Sure, Esther defied the 'balance of nature' by drawing upon magic that she should have been using. Nature Bound witches aren't supposed to access magic that doesn't use the earths elements.

Esther was punished for that during her death.

But that's it.

There is no big curse walking the earth. No imbalance needing to be corrected. No abomination threatening natures order. It's a bunch of hateful witches fear that had been past down as gospel through generations.

Nature always has a balance.

It couldn't exist if it didn't have a balance. Esthers spell might not have been performed with nature in mind... but it wouldn't have worked if it didn't maintain earthly order.

"Jacqueline!" Rebekah called and quickly caught up with Jacqueline.

Jacqueline nodded, "Hey Rebekah"

"I heard wheat you did for my brothers yesterday... I wanted to thank you" Rebekah said as she fell into step with Jacqueline.

"You don't have to do that" Jacqueline said quickly, "I did it because it was the right thing to do. For everyone - apparently my sister and her friends haven't considered what would happen if your family was to die" she rolled her eyes

Rebekah frowned, "What do you mean?"

Jacqueline raised her brows in surprise. "You don't know?"

Rebekah shook her head looking a little worried she might be missing some key information.

"What those witches say - that vampires defy nature; it's wrong" Jacqueline said as simply as she could. "That's incorrect. If a vampires existence went against nature then you simply wouldn't exist. Your body would have likely of tore itself apart until you exploded"

Jacqueline wondered morbidly what casting a spell like that would be like?

To have your spell be so far against nature that it destroys itself...

"Jacqueline" Rebekah muttered with a shake of her head. "My mother used a lot of dark magic to create vampirism"

"I know" Jacqueline nodded, "Look at it this way. Nature Bound Witches spells must draw on the earthy elements - water, fire, air, earth"

"Right" Rebekah nodded as she tried to follow along.

"Your mother's spell drew on the moon - a celestial event instead. Ester shouldn't have been using her magic like that, sure, but that's still part of nature" Jacqueline gently placed a hand on Rebekah's arm as she explained. "It wasn't traditional at the time to do so... but a spell can't exist if it defies the balance. It's not possible"

Rebekah looked a little hopeful at that.

Jacqueline continued, "The sun burns until you catch on fire and a vervain plant can weaken you. That's proof of natures balance right there"

Rebekah beamed in response, "I never really thought about it like that. I wasn't a witch as a human... I've only really ever heard of witches hating us"

Jacqueline nodded with pursed lips as they continued walking again.

That was sad.

"It's the fear that created those notions of vampires being against nature" Jacqueline commented somewhat begrudgingly understanding why it happened. "Its easy to hate things or people... but it's hard to learn to understand them."

Rebekah nodded her agreement, "Indeed. I have to admit I'm glad to know not everyone thinks I'm an abomination" she said emotionlessly to hide her true feelings.

Jacqueline knew the feeling though.

"It's the same with me" Jacqueline admitted as she kept the emotion out of her voice. Those emotions were hers and she didn't want to share them.

"Really?" Rebekah frowned, "You're a powerful witch though - don't others want to learn from you?"

"Quite the opposite" Jacqueline snorted, "They want to kill us all. My magic doesn't draw upon the earthly elements like Nature Bound Witches... It me makes me stronger. I have more power, more abilities then them" she shrugged idly as they walked through the town centre

"And they hate you for it" Rebekah hummed knowingly.

"Yeah..." Jacqueline shrugged as if a casual action would minimise the seriousness of their conversation.

"Anyway. How has your day been?" Rebekah asked

Jacqueline was thankful for the topic change and gave the blonde a smile.

"I don't really have anything to do in this town, to be honest" Jacqueline admitted, "Elena won't speak to me. Jeremy's gone back to school again now that Elena and the Salvatores agreed to leave him out of their drama. I was thinking of getting a job or something"

"A job?" Rebekah wrinkled her nose

Jacqueline laughed, "Yeah, well, it's better than sitting around doing nothing all day. Isn't it?"

Rebekah shook her head, "I'm sure I could help you find something to do! No need to be rash in getting a job"

Jacqueline laughed in amusement but allowed Rebekah to drag her off on a mission to find something to do. Jacqueline didn't need the money and so if Rebekah had something to do in mind - Jacqueline was happy to go along with it.

Plus, Jacqueline liked spending time with her new friend.
