Elijah Mikaelson, Vampire Diaries

TRENTASETTE

Jacqueline hovered in the doorway as she watched Rebekah sleep. It turned out that Rebekah had needed sleep after the exhausting near death experience. For someone who was the closest to truly being immortal as anyone could get - this has really shaken Rebekah.

Rightfully so.

Jacqueline sighed and leaned her head back against the door frame. She couldn't get Rebekah's scared face out of her mind. Jacqueline had been terrified of actually loosing Rebekah today. All she wanted to do was hold her girlfriend and reassure them both that everything is fine now.

But she just couldn't...

She couldn't allow herself to be close to Rebekah at the moment.

As much as Jacqueline was trying to convince herself that it was because of the potential growing bond - she knew that wasn't the whole truth. Most of all Jacqueline couldn't allow herself to be close to someone who might reject her completely in a few hours.

Someone who could take one of the most important parts of her life away in seconds.

Jacqueline sighed.

She wasn't sure what to think about a possible BloodBond. Honestly, Jacqueline was a mix of terrified and utterly terrified.

This changes everything.

And that's not just part of Jacqueline's occasional dramatics. It's the terrifying truth. Cause whether or not they complete the BloodBond - their relationship will change forever. If they decide not to go through with the BloodBond then it's the permanent end of their relationship. Though if they go through with it, then it will intensify their relationship - possibly still ending in separation regardless.

That would hurt.

Jacqueline knew if they went through with this that there was no turning back.

It's permanent.

If they mess it up and end up regretting it... well, nothing can be done. They'd be bound to each other so strongly that they wouldn't be able to leave. Permanent really does mean permanent in this situation. Not to mention the fact that Rebekah's a vampire which likely means Jacqueline will gain immortality.

So permanent and forever!

Jacqueline was feeling the pressure at the mere thought.

She loves Rebekah, absolutely, loves Rebekah without a doubt in her mind. That however didn't particularly mean she was looking for such commitment. A BloodBond was no small thing, it equates to marriage, in which divorces don't exist.

The commitment isn't what truly scares Jacqueline though. She was at least self aware enough to know that.

That didn't mean she would admit as such.

But she was aware, in the back of her mind, that commitment wasn't what really has her worried. It's what comes along with the BloodBond - the shared connection. A connection that would allow Rebekah to feel Jacqueline's emotions and hear her thoughts. It would allow Rebekah to see Jacqueline's past as if it had been her own.

That's what scares Jacqueline the most.

It was too much.

Jacqueline loves and trusts Rebekah, sure, and she allows Rebekah to see more than anyone else. However, Jacqueline gets the choice to do so. The choice to let down her walls and let someone in. The choice to speak about her true feelings instead of keeping them to herself.

It's been a choice.

With the BloodBond it wouldn't be a choice anymore.

Rebekah would be able to feel and think and know everything Jacqueline does. Rebekah would see things in Jacqueline's mind that she's locked away. Things that were locked away for a reason. Things that she had chosen not to feel for a reason. Things she never wanted anyone to know.

Rebekah would know them all.

Feel them all.

See them all.

And Jacqueline would be vulnerable in a way she never had before. She would be vulnerable and powerless against those vulnerabilities. Though Jacqueline didn't think Rebekah would use it against her in any way... she just wasn't sure she was capable of allowing herself to be in that position.

She's too guarded.

Jacqueline isn't the type to allow herself to be vulnerable very often.

She didn't like the feeling.

Jacqueline ran a tiered hand down her face as she sighed. Her mind was refusing to allow her even a moment of peace. That however didn't mean she had dropped her guard. Jacqueline felt the exact moment Klaus appeared in the hallway. Which was why it didn't escape her notice when he hovered to see what she was doing.

"Your hovering" Jacqueline said quietly, but knew he heard her anyway.

"You aren't going to bed?" Klaus asked, coming to stand in the doorway beside her now. He followed her line of sight to where Rebekah was sleeping in bed.

Rebekah huffed and moved across the bed in her sleep. Seeking out someone who wasn't there. Wanting comfort...

Comfort that Jacqueline was withholding.

"Love?" Klaus promoted with overly done irritation to mask his genuine worry. "Your not going to bed?"

Jacqueline's eyes closed as she sighed. "Tomorrow is going to be a long day, Klaus. I found something out tonight" she glanced at him as she tried to find the best words. "Something that's gonna change everything for me and Rebekah. I don't like feeling like I'm sitting and counting down the minutes until it's over"

Jacqueline regretted opening her mouth as soon as she'd done it.

She hated that she had admitted that to him.

Jacqueline had come to know Klaus over the last few months. Especially once she and Rebekah started dating. Jacqueline had spent just as many nights here as she had at home. Rebekah's brothers had been easy to get to know in that time. Jacqueline found she got along great with them all.

Even Klaus.

Especially Klaus.

Jacqueline even considered Klaus a friend rather than just family. Her magic had already matched onto him, Kol and Elijah. Yet Jacqueline wasn't comfortable sharing her emotions with them. It just wasn't who Jacqueline was and it never would be. Her emotions were her own. Jacqueline didn't allow many people to see them.

Which was why she hated the fact her brain-to-mouth filter was off tonight.

There was too much on her mind.

Jacqueline certainly didn't want to add Klaus' opinions to that pile of worries. This decision was something she had to make for herself. It couldn't factor his opinion in - not if it was going to be the right decision for her to live with.

Cause Jacqueline would have to live with it - not Klaus.

Klaus frowned at her nonetheless, "What happened? Love, I doubt Rebekah would want to leave you" he said

Jacqueline shrugged but didn't say anything else on the matter. Those words hadn't really been meant for him to hear anyway. Jacqueline hadn't meant to voice them in the first place. Cause she wasn't sure whether to be relieved or upset with the idea of Rebekah wanting to stay with her.

Rebekah could leave and move on.

Or Rebekah could want to continue forming a BloodBond.

Jacqueline found both ideas equally terrified her and she didn't know which she wanted to happen. While she never really wanted to leave Rebekah, the idea of a BloodBond filled her with similar fear. So really, the question Jacqueline needed to be asking wasn't what Rebekah would want.

The question she needs to ask is; Can she go through with a BloodBond or not?

If not then, as harsh as it sounds, Rebekah's opinion didn't factor much. If Jacqueline wasn't willing to do this then that's that. But if she does want this... then she needs to hope Rebekah does too.

But does she want this?

Jacqueline hung up the phone and bit her lip in thought. Suffice to say that Giovanni hadn't particularly been helpful. Unsurprisingly Giovanni was completely in agreement of completing the BloodBond. Having done it herself Giovanni tried to explain that it was the best thing anyone could ever do.

Jacqueline still wasn't convinced though...

Giovanni had tried not to sound to disappointment when Jacqueline inquired about preventing the bond. Jacqueline was aware that it would upset the coven but she needed to know her options.

Giovanni had reluctantly understood that and explained the process.

Jacqueline was frustratingly even more conflicted after that. Hearing how to prevent the bond had put a weight she couldn't explain in her heart. As if her soul was wilting at the idea of rejecting such a bond.

It was annoying.

Honestly, Jacqueline was debating flipping a coin. She'd do anything just to have this decision over with. Both options were filling her with fear and worry. Now she wasn't sure which was more bearable.

Leaving.

Or completing the BloodBond.

"What are you sulking about for?" Kol asked as he walked into the entertainment room.

Jacqueline huffed but didn't bother denying the accusation. She was sulking and she knew it. Jacqueline was beginning to get a headache because of it too.

"It's her crypticly mentioned life altering information" Klaus announced

Jacqueline didn't even bother retorting. Instead she picked up the glass of bourbon she had poured for breakfast and downed it in one sip. She was hoping that being buzzed might take the edge off a little.

"Is Elijah up yet?" Jacqueline asked on a pained sigh

"I am" Elijah confirmed as he walked into the room. He paused as he studied her appearance. His eyes scrutinising her rumpled clothing, the permanent frown, the slump of her shoulders and the bourbon in her hand.

Jacqueline didn't flinch under his stare like most would have.

"Is everything alright?" Elijah asked

Jacqueline shook her head and harshly wiped at her face when tears sprang to her eyes. If any of the three vampires noticed the tears they certainly didn't say anything. Though the reaction did seem to make Kol and Klaus sit up a little straighter. Clearly they were realising she wasn't sulking for no reason.

"I don't know what to do and my head hurts from thinking!" Jacqueline spat and slumped back against the chair rather pathetically.

She couldn't care right now what they thought of her actions.

Her brain hurt.

Jacqueline massaged her temples and groaned. "I'm not even sure how any of this happened! How did I not notice before?!" She huffed

Elijah strode forward and settled on the couch opposite Jacqueline. He had a calm and collected look on his face as he watched her fall apart, though his eyes had softened significantly. "This, I assume, is what had you running out of our conversation last night?" Elijah asked

Jacqueline nodded and couldn't meet his eyes.

Elijah signed, "Jacqueline" he said sternly to capture her attention again. "You still have yet to explain what has you needing to call your Coven in such a hurry?"

Kol sat beside her then, "Is your coven returning?" He asked slyly

Jacqueline rolled her eyes and sighed, "No. They're not. Though the elders and Giovanni only really had one answer for me when I called" She sulked

"Whats happening?" Klaus sighed

"Rebekah and I seemed to be more attached then I thought possible or likely" Jacqueline sighed, "We've developed the beginnings of a BloodBond. Can you believe that?" She scoffed

Jacqueline poured another drink.

Elijah reached forward and took it from her with a sigh. "Jacqueline" he muttered, "You act as if we know what that is"

Oh.

Jacqueline nodded and frowned as she tried to find the words for it.

"A blood-bond is the fated connection between two people who balance each other in perfect harmony. It's the mind, soul, body and heart that link together" Jacqueline said

"Like a soulmates?" Kol asked looking interested in the new information

Jacqueline shrugged, "Essentially It's the same concept. Though it's a person's heart, soul, mind and body that creates the bind. That's why some assume it to be called a soulmate. BloodWitches call it a BloodBonded or a BloodBond"

Kol nodded eagerly

Elijah rose a brow, "How does one get to form this bond?"

"You don't choose the person, and once your magic chooses then that's the only person you can ever have that with" Jacqueline stated, "When one meets their Bonded they'll have more intense feelings than any previous relationships. The feelings of attraction and an instinctual need to seek the other out will be present whether the individuals are aware of it or not"

Klaus sighed, "Your saying you have what? Some witch bond with Rebekah?"

Jacqueline snorted, "Basically"

"Now, darling" Kol said curiously, "You've yet to tell us what the bond means? What it does?"

Jacqueline shifted uncomfortably but answered anyway. "I can't really explain it. I guess simply it's like marriage for supernaturals but you can never get divorced" she rolled her eyes

Elijah nodded slowly, "You do not want to remain with Rebekah?" He asked

"That's not the problem exactly..." Jacqueline said before clearing her throat unnecessarily. She was uncomfortable and they all knew it. "It's everything else. We'd never be able to go far from the other for the rest of our lives. She would be able to feel my emotions as if they're her own. She would be able to see my thoughts too! Rebekah would be get to see my entire past from birth to now like she herself had experienced it!"

Jacqueline made a face at the admission.

"That's..." Klaus trailed off with a look of distaste

"Yeah" Jacqueline nodded, "My thoughts and feelings are my own. I lov-like Rebekah" she quickly corrected though the three men still caught the mistake anyway. "I like Rebekah but I don't know if I want to have that type of connection"

Kol nodded, "Well cant you do a spell to prevent it?"

Jacqueline grumbled, "Technically, yes, I could do that"

"You didn't want to?" Elijah asked

Jacqueline cleared her throat again in discomfort. "It would be a little painful for a while" she said slowly, "And I'd never be able to see Rebekah again. As in, get as far away as possible and remain there"

"They both sound like lousy options" Kol stated with a huff

Jacqueline snorted at the understatement.

"You can't prevent the bond and still stay?" Klaus narrowed his eyes

Jacqueline shook her head, "Nobody is supposed to escape fate. Not for long. Not without paying a price"

"Fate?" Kol echoed in interest

"Yeah" Jacqueline nodded, "The one person in the world that matches you mind, body, soul and heart? To find them amongst everyone else?" She scoffed at the suggestion it might be anything other than fate.

Kol hummed

"It's quite common amongst BloodWitches" Jacqueline added, "To have ones Bonded at their side is to be celebrated not debated. Choosing to deny a BloodBond is... well, it's just not done"

They sat in silence.

Jacqueline allowed them time to wrap their heads around the idea.

"Say you were to go through with it - what would it entail?" Elijah inquired

"There's 6 stages of the bond. The 1st is meeting obviously, 2nd is subconsciously accepting the pull. Which would have been when he started dating, I guess." Jacqueline shrugged and looked away from them as she continued. "3rd is physical 'connection'. 4th is an emotional connection, 5th is a mental connection and then the 6th is what finalises the bond"

"What finalises the bond?" Kol asked tilting his head

Jacqueline cleared her throat again in discomfort. "I, uh, won't go into detail. Basically after a small-" She made an uncomfortable face. "-combination of physical, emotional and mental 'connection'. Well, the 6th stage begins in form of the shared and intertwined powers and abilities"

Elijah had that pinched look on his face again as he understood what she wasn't saying.

They had to have sex.

Klaus focused in on the last part though. "Shared abilities and powers?" He questioned

Jacqueline nodded, "It's rather complicated and not always the same. The Blood-witch would gain abilities such as speed, immortality, strength but retain their magic and wouldn't need to drink blood. In return, the vampire might gain the ability to walk in the sun and an awareness of other supernatural creatures or some form of magical advantage"

Kol looked gleeful at the knowledge, "That's how that witch was 900 years old!" He said

Jacqueline nodded

"Would a vampire become a witch?" Elijah frowned

"No. They wouldn't get that much power" Jacqueline denied, "In some cases it's been known to give a vampire the ability to feel aura's of the supernatural. Some have gained 'the sight'. Others get warnings of any potential harm to themselves or their bonded before it happens"

Elijah nodded understandingly, "Which is what happened yesterday"

Jacqueline nodded

"What if they don't want to be bonded or whatever it's called?" Klaus asked

"Uh, the separation of the two in the beginning will just feel sad and lonely - like everything brightens when you're together, and darkens when you're apart" Jacqueline said with a shrug, "It depends what stage of the bond the couple is in that determines physical pain. The stronger the bond is... the more being apart will be physically and emotionally uncomfortable"

Jacqueline let that sink in.

She'd had all night to think about it so she knew how difficult it was.

Though they weren't the ones having to experience all this. Jacqueline hoped maybe they might have something helpful to say about it. Cause right now she didn't think any advice could hurt.

Not when she was already confused.

"Well?" Jacqueline prompted impatiently as she looked at the three men.

"What are you going to do?" Elijah asked diplomatic as always.

Jacqueline huffed, "I've got no clue! That's why your supposed to have some great advice that makes everything clear in my mind!" She sighed

Kol laughed.

Jacqueline glared back at him.

"I think you and Rebekah make a lovely couple" Elijah said with a small smile. "Even if this bond is a daunting concept, is it worth your relationship ending?" He posed

Jacqueline felt her heart sink at the idea of never seeing Rebekah again.

"I think it would be a pleasure to welcome you to our family" Elijah added knowingly as he looked at her

That was-

Well, Jacqueline was surprisingly happy to hear Elijah approved of what was essentially marriage.

She would forever be family.

"I think I can do this, right?" Jacqueline muttered hesitantly. "I just have to talk to Rebekah about it next"

She'd have to tell Rebekah today...

Jacqueline figured that life without Rebekah was much more scary than this connection. Now that she had talked it through she felt the need to defend it. To defend making the choice when Kol and Klaus seemed to dislike the idea for themselves.

That was why she knew she could deal with this.

Cause Jacqueline might be scared but she was oddly hopeful. Hopeful that Rebekah would want this too. Hopeful that she wouldn't ruin everything by doing something she wasn't ready for.

If fate thinks she can do this then maybe she can?

Jacqueline relaxed a little in the chair and nodded to herself in relief - She had made her decision. Jacqueline couldn't live without Rebekah. That outweighed the fear of being vulnerable or intimidated by the connection.

Cause Jacqueline is in love with Rebekah Mikaelson.

REBEKAH POV:

"What's wrong?" Rebekah asked immediately, concern showing on her face as she looked at Jacqueline.

She knew something was going on.

Judging from the anxious and guarded look in Jacqueline's eyes - whatever it is, isn't very good. Rebekah just hoped that it didn't have anything to do with more White Oak. Cause she didn't fancy another close call again.

It had scared her.

Though Rebekah likely would never admit it, she had really thought that might of been the end. She thought she'd never again get to see Jacqueline or her family...

Rebekah had thought she would never get to tell Jacqueline that she loved her.

That was a startling thought.

Rebekah was sure now that she was already in love with Jacqueline. It was too soon in their relationship, she knew that. However, this relationship was stronger than any of her previous ones.

It's different.

Rebekah knew that but she she didn't know why.

The why of it all didn't matter much if it meant they were going to be together forever. Rebekah even entertained the thought of bringing up turning to Jacqueline. Not now, not any time soon, but in the future of course. Cause she didn't want to have to live without Jacqueline at her side.

Rebekah was helplessly in love.

Jacqueline sighed and sat down on the couch, reached for her hands, holding them tightly.

Rebekah frowned, "What's wrong, babe?" She asked and shuffled so she was directly facing Jacqueline. Rebekah gave her girlfriend an encouraging and supportive look - hoping to get Jacqueline to voice her thoughts.

Jacqueline bit her lip, "There's something I need to tell you" she rushed out in a breath

Rebekah's heart sank.

Fear tightened in her chest as she stared at Jacqueline's worried and uncertain face.

"Okay" Rebekah nodded slowly as she braced herself for hurt. It wasn't that she thought Jacqueline would break her heart exactly... it's just that Jacqueline looked serious and worried. They weren't usually so easy to spot on Jacqueline's face.

This was no small thing then.

"Well... you know how I'm a BloodWitch right?" Jacqueline began cautiously. "BloodWitches magic is part of their soul, heart, body and mind"

Rebekah nodded.

This wasn't going in the direction that she had been expecting it to.

"Our magic forms bonds with people. Like my bond with my Coven. My magic reached out and connected with theirs. There's no real way to predict or prevent that from happening - my magic knows when someone's family or will become family" Jaqueline explained easily enough

Rebekah already knew this though.

She recalled having a similar conversation months ago.

"Like how you described meeting Giovanni" Rebekah asked, remembering what Jacqueline had said about discovering she was a BloodWitch.

Jacqueline smiled a little as she nodded. "Yeah"

"What does this have to do with anything?" Rebekah frowned still not understanding

Jacqueline cleared her throat unnecessarily - a sign Rebekah had come to realise meant she was extremely uncomfortable. Jacqueline looked at their hands and sighed.

"Cause there are a few sorts of bonds - familial Bonds which are family, Philia Bonds which are friendships and then there are-" Jacqueline hesitated slightly, "Then there are BloodBonds"

BloodBonds?

Rebekah raised a brow at the way Jacqueline had said the word.

Jacqueline had spoke it with a gravity that Rebekah didn't quite understand. However, from the look on Jacqueline's face the BloodBond was a very significant thing.

Jacqueline nodded, "Have you ever heard of soulmates?" She asked

Rebekah nodded, "Yeah. The story of how two lovers were connected supernaturally?"

Jacqueline hummed, "That's what a BloodBond is essentially. It's called a BloodBond cause only BloodWitches can form them. Werewolves have their own equivalent of 'Mates' and vampires have blood-sharing"

Rebekah nodded in understanding.

She had heard of blood-sharing and knew how significant it is. The very act was the most intimate thing a couple could do together.

More intimate than sex.

Blood-sharing had been known, in some cases, to cause a few new abilities. Like being able to share emotions or thoughts. Rebekah had never seen it herself but she had also been sure to never mess around with it regardless. Once you did something like that it could never be undone.

It was an intimating concept.

Rebekah wondered why Jacqueline was bringing all this up?

"Jacqueline?" Rebekah asked curiously, "Why exactly are you asking about this?"

Rebekah watched Jacqueline warily, she couldn't help but wonder if Jacqueline was asking to do something like blood-sharing. Rebekah for the first time ever actually found herself considering trying it with someone. She didn't think a special connection with Jacqueline was all that bad of a thing.

Jacqueline would have to turn first though...

Rebekah sighed.

"BloodBonds can't be helped, there's nothing you can do to pick who they form with. I- Rebekah I... well, I've formed the beginning of a BloodBond with you" Jacqueline admitted and cleared her throat unnecessarily

What?

Rebekah stared at Jacqueline as she tried to process those words.

Jacqueline had done what?

"It's not on purpose! I didn't know" Jacqueline cut in quickly. "And of course now the unconscious connection has been made we can decide if we want to strengthen the bond or not? I can use magic to prevent that if it's what you want...but if that's not what you want..."

Rebekah gaped.

She wasn't sure she was understanding correctly.

Somehow Jacqueline's magic had connected them... and now they can potentially have a soul bond. Or a BloodBond, whatever the hell it's called?

And Jacqueline was asking Rebekah if that's what she wants or not?

"I don't understand" was all Rebekah could say at that very moment. She was utterly shocked and confused with this information. Rebekah didn't really know how to feel or what to think when she barely understood what's happened.

Jacqueline smiled a little.

"Well completing the bond is apparently painless, if not a little emotionally draining considering your technically older then me" Jacqueline explained softly. "The BloodBond would connect our minds, hearts, souls, body's and abilities"

That sounded... Well, it sounded rather complicated and daunting.

Rebekah blinked, "What exactly does that mean?"

Jacqueline sighed, "From what I understand it means we have a permanent connection. I always thought the simplest explanation was like a supernatural marriage - but it would be like skipping right to the honeymoon" Jacqueline snorted.

Rebekah chuckled in disbelief

"Nothing is certain though so it's had to predict what will happen. Each couple is a little different. Though we'll be able to feel each other's emotions, have more awareness of the other. There is a sharing of past experiences too so you'll be able to know everything I've gone through and I'll experience the same for you" Jacqueline sighed a little warily at that part. She shrugged, "I'd most likely be immortal and you might get visions if either of us are in danger"

That was a lot of maybes.

Rebekah sighed, "You've never done this?"

Jacqueline shook her head, "Its a one time thing. Once you find your perfect person that's it. There is nobody else ever again"

That made sense.

Rebekah nodded in understanding.

"I've had since last night to think about this... if you need more time then I understand" Jacqueline said softly

Rebekah nodded, "I need to think. Im not saying no or yes. I just need to think"

Jacqueline nodded

Rebekah watched Jacqueline stand up then. She wanted Jacqueline to stay but she knew she wouldn't be able to think clearly with Jacqueline here. Though she did smile when Jacqueline paused and leaned in for a kiss.

Rebekah sighed.

Her hands rested on Jacqueline's hips as she angle her face up to meet Jacqueline. Their kiss deepened only briefly before Jacqueline pulled away. Instead of leaving, her girlfriend ran her hands through Rebekah's hair lovingly.

Rebekah rested her chin on Jacqueline's stomach as she looked up at her girlfriend.

Jacqueline was worried, Rebekah could tell, but she didn't know what to say about it. Rebekah didn't want Jacqueline to worry. Though Rebekah was unsure if she was ready for a bond such as this.

Rebekah was worried too.

"Either way" Jacqueline started and pecked her lips again. "Everything will be okay"

"I hope so" Rebekah agreed with a sigh. "My brain feels like it's gonna explode right now" she admitted

Jacqueline chuckled, "Yeah. I think I freaked Elijah out last night when I realised what was happening"

Rebekah smiled at that - she could imagine the sight.

Poor Elijah.

Actually, Rebekah paused, Elijah sounded like the perfect person to get advice from. Especially if he was already aware of the situation. Elijah was always the one with a level head. He was always calm and collected as he thought things through.

Rebekah knew Elijah would know what to say to help her decide.

Rebekah pecked Jacqueline's lips one last time before walking out of the room. She didn't have to venture far before she found her brothers. Kol was shamelessly pouting in the hallway and she assumed it was likely because he hadn't been able to hear their conversation. Nik was hovering and immediately trying to gage her reaction.

Jacqueline walked out behind her and took the scene in with an unsurprised face.

"I need a drink" Jacqueline said and walked past them all in search of alcohol.

Rebekah would have laughed but she had a lot on her mind at the moment. Instead Rebekah silently walked out of the room and headed for Elijahs office. She knew he would be reading in there.

Rebekah knocked on the door.

"Come in" Elijah called

Rebekah pushed opened the door and sighed as she looked at Elijah. "Brother..." she trailed off uncertainly

Elijah stood from his chair, "I assume Jacqueline has spoken to you, has she not?"

Rebekah nodded.

"You are conflicted?" Elijah looked a little surprised. "Why?" Elijah inquired simply

"Because-" Rebekah began but faltered as she tried to think of a reason. Sure, this was a big deal but she didn't really have a specific reason for hesitating. At least no reason other than surprise and fear of the unknown.

Maybe she could do this?

Rebekah was being given a chance to be loved like few were capable of being loved. It was a connection so deep that it had been hard to explain. And the love she feels for Jacqueline outweighs the fear she has, right?

Rebekah smiled, having made her decision.
