QUARANTACINQUE
REBEKAH POV:
Rebekah smiled as she leaned back against Jacqueline's chest. They had woken up earlier than usual this morning in an effort to enjoy some alone time together. It wasn't as if they truly needed sleep, being vampires and all. Or rather - Jacqueline was half vampire?
Admittedly, Rebekah wasn't entirely up sure how that worked.
Either way they would be fine without a full night of rest. Considering all this plotting has been keeping them busy and apart recently - they were taking any chance they could get to spend some quality time.
A nice warm bath to start the day seemed perfect.
Rebekah hummed contently as she rested her heard back on Jacquelines shoulder. "It almost makes me miss Mystic Falls" she commented quietly in the silent bathroom. "We were never this busy before"
Jacquelines arms tightened around her waist. "You don't regret it do you?" Jacqueline asked with a pang of worry going through their bond.
Rebekah immediately shook her head, "No. No, I just miss us spending the day together all the time"
Jacqueline hummed, "I miss that too. However, I don't think our wacky family has ever been happier then they are now"
They both chuckled at that.
It was true after all.
Nik had been given a true miracle in the form of his own child. Nik might be hurting from Marcels betrayal but he was also getting closure and the revenge he needs to move on. Elijah seemed to have found possible affection in Hayley. Elijah was seeing the improvement in Nik he had always longed to see. Kol was loving getting to experience 21st century parties. Tyler was enjoying his new Hybrid status, helping his Pack and getting Davina. Jeremy was thriving as a vampire and getting a real chance to be a carefree teen.
Life really was great at the moment.
If their only real problem what they they only got to spend a few hours together to relax... then that was an easy problem to have.
"What do you think of Hayley?" She asked Jacqueline
Jacqueline shrugged, "I'm not sure yet. Looks like she's having a little bit of trouble finding her place in our big family. I'm sure it'll be at Elijahs side in the end though"
Rebekah snorted.
Jacqueline pressed a kiss on her temple and sighed, "it won't be much longer that we have to keep our relationship a secret" Jacqueline assured confidently.
Rebekah hoped her girlfriend was right.
"I still don't like it" she grumbled as jealousy gripped her again. Rebekah had always been the jealous type but it was intensified now that she has someone she couldn't bare to loose.
"I know, babe" Jacqueline sighed, "I don't like it either... you know that right?"
"Yes" Rebekah sighed, "I do. However, I know that Marcel enjoys your company and that's enough to drive me mad"
Rebekah had felt the disgust Jacqueline was feeling through their bond. She knew that Jacqueline was needed to play along for a little while. Rebekah had just thought it would be a lot easier to deal with, but apparently not. Old insecurities seemed to be surfacing again as Jacqueline goes to spend time with men as a 'single woman'.
She couldn't help those feelings.
Not even when she logically knew there wasn't anything to worry about.
"I promise, Beka" Jacqueline insisted, clearly feeling Rebekah's emotions through the bond. "You are the only one for me. My first and last love. I promise"
"I love you" Rebekah smiled at the truthful promises.
She could feel Jacquelines love for her though their bond. It was a truly amazing feeling and Rebekah found reassurance in that. How could one doubt that love when they could feel it?
Jacqueline smiled, "I love you too"
Rebekah tilted her head to the side and looked at her girlfriend expectantly. Jacqueline chuckled in amusement before pressing a sweet kiss to her lips. Rebekah smiled against the kiss and hummed happily before pulling away.
"We should start waking everyone else up" she commented with an eye roll.
Family breakfast was mandatory ever since Elijah had undaggered them. Rebekah had thought the meal would be unbearable in the beginning. However it seems that without the threat of their father or daggers they got along better than ever before.
That had only improved since then.
Now with Jacqueline, Tyler and Jeremy added to the family it further ensured everyone got along. It wasn't just the Mikaelsons siblings anymore. They now have an even larger family but it seemed to work for them.
They were finally a real family.
Always and Forever.
Rebekah sighed as she climbed out of the bathtub. She turned to see Jacqueline openly admiring the view and laughed. Jacqueline smirked and followed her out of the bath. They both grabbed towels before heading into the wardrobe to get dressed.
It was great sharing a room permanently with Jacqueline. Since they both wore the same size clothing they didn't have to worry about what belonged to who. They simply shared the clothing and space. They may have different styles most of time but neither were strictly set on dressing a certain way. Though both of them held a certain standard for their appearances. There is power in beauty and they could wield it like a weapon if they wished.
They're both beautiful women.
Rebekah selected a black top and matching shorts. They happened to be Jacquelines but it still looked good on herself regardless.
"What is on the agenda for today?" Jacqueline asked as she too got dressed.
"I'm taking Jeremy and Tyler to feed after breakfast. I think Tyler wanted to stop in with the Pack" Rebekah announced with a shrug, "Then I do believe I'll have to keep myself entertained after that"
Jacqueline nodded, "You know you don't have to take Jeremy and Tyler out to learn so much..." Jacqueline trailed off with a pang of guilt that Rebekah felt through their bond.
Rebekah smiled and wrapped her arms around her girlfriend. "I want to" she said pecking Jacquelines lips. "I enjoy teaching them and they seem to like learning. It's fun - and it don't have much else to do anyway"
It was true.
Rebekah enjoyed getting to know the boys who were like children to her girlfriend. It was easy to forget sometimes that those boys were only 17 and 18 years old. Sometimes being in the supernatural world, you judge people by the power they have not their age.
They're still just kids.
They might be vampires but they're still kids too.
"I just don't want you to feel like you have to do this for them" Jacqueline said, "If you ever don't want to then just say. Okay?"
"I will" Rebekah nodded
Jacqueline smiled before stepping into a pair of heeled boots. "I guess we better start breakfast then. The Mikaelson chef didn't come with us to New Orleans"
Rebekah rolled her eyes.
Though she didn't complain as she followed after Jacqueline into the kitchen.
Rebekah found that she rather liked aiding Jacqueline in making the breakfast each morning. The smell and noise usually bring Jeremy and Tyler down to help. Kol comes to annoy them and wait for food and blood. Elijah and Nik always take their bloody time as well.
Jacqueline and Rebekah easily worked together to begin the beginning of making breakfast. Coffee was brewing in the pot. Pancakes and waffle batter was getting mixed. Fresh fruit was being chopped and thrown together as bacon sizzled on a pan.
With vampire speed things got done rather quickly too.
"Good morning" Rebekah said when she heard the werewolf's hesitant approach.
"Why done you come sit down?" Jacqueline spoke up and gave Hayley a look that said it wasn't really optional. "Breakfast is a family requirement. Didn't someone tell you that already?" Jacqueline hummed
They had.
"Do you need any help?" Hayley asked as she walked into the kitchen looking a little embarrassed.
"Plates, glasses and silverware" Rebekah said nodding to the cabinets.
Rebekah might show her loving side a lot more often now, but that didn't mean she had gone soft. Rebekah had been the basis of the definition for the phrase bitch for a reason after all. Anyone who thought just because she found love meant that was going to change was a fool.
She wouldn't allow herself to be seen as weak in front of some stranger.
Rebekah might silently approve of Hayley joining the family but it didn't mean she wanted Hayley to know that. At least not just yet when Hayley hasn't seemed too interested in this family or protecting it.
Hayley nodded and started setting the table.
"Good morning darlings!" Kol grinned as he flounced into the room. Kol didn't bother offering help he didn't want to give. Instead he took his usual seat and watched them work with a stupid grin.
Rebekah rolled her eyes, "Thank you for offering to help Kol. It's much appreciated" she mocked
Kol snorted, "I didn't offer"
"He never does" Tyler said as he walked into the kitchen and peered over at the selection of food. "When can we have hashbrown casserole again?"
Jacqueline gave him a look as she said, "When you get your ass out of bed and make it?"
Rebekah smirked.
"Did I hear we were having Hashbrown casserole?" Jeremy asked, speeding into the room.
Rebekah exchanged an unimpressed look with Jacqueline.
"I do believe you've heard wrong" Kol retorted, "Tyler burnt popcorn that one time. I have only known about microwaveable machines for months and still managed to not burn the popcorn"
"Yeah, well... It's called a microwave" Tyler huffed when he had nothing better to retort.
Kol waved a dismissive hand at his direction and continued grinning in amusement.
"Coffee is ready" Jacqueline announced before turning to the waffles. "Can one of you start the next pancake?"
Kol jumped up - surprising everyone as he moved to help. "I shall assist you this once" Kol announced as he grabbed the spoon and quickly heaped the batter onto the pan.
"Kol!" Rebekah sighed when he started making useless shapes.
Jeremy snorted.
"For gods sake, Kol, just sit the hell down and get out the kitchen!" Jacqueline snapped as she took the now bunt shapes off the pan with a huff. Her glare moving to Kol and making the idiot grin even more.
"Bickering already?" Nik asked as he joined them. He rose a brow in amusement at the various looks he was met with.
Jeremy looked unsurprised as he chuckled
Tyler rolled his eyes.
Hayley looked amused as she watched.
Kol looked entirely proud of himself.
Jacqueline glared.
Rebekah sighed as she gave Nik a look at the ridiculous question. Of course they were bickering... what else did he expect?
Nik smirked and poured himself a cup of coffee. "Lovely morning isn't it?" He smirked before taking his usual seat. "Did I hear something about hashbrown casserole?"
"Elijah!" Rebekah yelled
Jacqueline fixed Klaus with a mean glare while the others cracked up laughing.
Elijah sighed as he walked into the kitchen. He stood and fixed his cufflings as he looked at them all. Elijahs face was stern but his eyes held a lightness they hadn't held since their human years. "What seems to be the matter, sister?" Elijah asked
"Oh nothing is the matter, brother!" Nik assured with a chuckle
Elijah looked doubtful but moved to make himself a cup of coffee anyway. "Do either of you need help preparing breakfast?" Elijah asked
At least someone offered.
"It's just about done by now" Jacqueline said with a shrug. "You can take a seat"
Elijah nodded, "We are all grateful for you and Rebekah taking up the task of cooking. I can procure a chef if you would prefer it"
Jacqueline shrugged. "I don't mind either way... just let me know"
"How come none of you know how to cook?" Tyler asked looking at the three men.
"It's not like your any better, mate" Kol scoffed
Tyler shrugged, "I haven't had hundreds of yours to learn" he defended himself
Elijah straighten his cufflinks and nodded, "I can prepare the basics of meals. Though my main source of nourishment is not derived from such foods"
Jeremy rose a brow, "Is that the proper way of saying you prefer blood?"
Rebekah chuckled, "I believe it was, dear Jeremy"
"Hey Hayley?" Tyler looked to the silent woman watching the conversation like a funny tennis match. "Is this going to be one of those Twilight things where you start drinking blood now?"
Hayley made a face at the comparison.
Nik gave Tyler a look before saying, "That's not how real life works, mate."
"What is twilight?" Kol frowned
Elijah nodded, "I do not believe I understand the reference"
"It's a bad vampire movie" Rebekah announced in amusement
Jacqueline nodded and brought the dish of waffles over to the table. "A movie where vampires sparkle and the main character is basically Stefan Salvatore"
Elijah looked mildly offended that someone could even suggest a vampire sparkles. Rebekah had to laugh at her brothers unhappy faces. Though she did wonder herself if her niece or nephew would be a hybrid too?
Or maybe it would be just a werewolf?
Rebekah shook her head and started helping bring the food to the table. Jeremy brought over the glasses of blood to everyone as they sat down. Elijah always insisted they didn't simply drink from the blood bags at the table. Rebekah didn't care either way.
She did enjoy a sugary coffee with her blood and food though.
They all took a seat at the table as their banter continued thorough the entire meal. There was never a quiet moment when their family was all together.
It certainly made things Interesting
Rebekah thought it was a lot better than seriously arguing. They had been quite violent with each other in the past. Being spiteful and cruel just because they were upset and tension was running high. A little bit of annoyance was far better than those things happening again.
This was playfully.
Annoying at times, sure, but it lacked the harshness it previously would of had.
They were better for it.
Rebekah enjoyed her breakfast with the family until everyone had cleared their plates. She smirked when Kol got saddled with doing the dishes in the end. Kol pouted and whined but Elijah was stern as always.
"Ready to go out?" Rebekah asked
Jeremy and Tyler nodded easily as they grabbed their phones and followed her out of the house. They took the car to a local cafe that Rebekah knew workers weren't on vervain.
She was teaching them how to be discrete today.
Rebekah knew full well that sometimes you don't have privacy to compel someone. Or the time to feed in private either. Sometimes situations are messy and call for subtlety.
That was today's lesson.
"Come on" Rebekah led them into the cafe. She pushed open the door and came face to face with the one person she didn't want to see.
Marcel.
"Well, well, well..." Marcel drew out as he looked at her suspiciously. "Look what the cat dragged in - Rebekah Mikaelson"
Rebekah stood tall as she faced the man who had come the closest to actual love she had ever experienced before Jacqueline. She had craved the attention he had showered her in. Now Rebekah knew that it wasn't love at all, but loneliness and enjoyment of the attention. Those good moments that she once had were ruined by his betray. Rebekah couldn't believe the audacity he has in taking everything her family had once had and claiming it to be his own.
Marcel was a traitor.
She hummed indifferently, "Marcel. I see you're still alive"
Marcel scoffed, "Yeah. Not like you actually looked back to see while running away from Daddy" he retorted before his eyes landed on Jeremy and Tyler over Rebekah's shoulder.
Rebekah held back a sigh knowing if she came across as defensive it could put them all in danger again. With Jacqueline off playing double agent with Nik this going wrong could put the entire plan at risk. Marcel suspecting Jacqueline has a connection to her family would make him loose trust in Jacqueline.
They didn't need that right now.
Not if they were going to reclaim what is rightfully theirs once again.
This plan was complicated and has various moving parts involved. If even one thing goes wrong it could expose them all. Everything was riding on their ability to keep their heads in the game right now. If they were going to accomplish what they needed to protect their growing family, Rebekah couldn't loose her cool right now.
"Tyler" Marcel's eyes narrowed slightly on the boy
Tyler nodded at Marcel in greeting, "Hey Marcel"
Rebekah was glad she and Jacqueline had decided to sit the boys down and explain what was happening. Rebekah and Jacqueline both knew that not having all the information was a lot more dangerous than knowing key information. The boys both clearly knew they had to keep their mouth's shut about Jacqueline and the Mikaelson's right now.
They did just that.
"I didn't know you knew Rebekah" Marcel might have looked calm but they all knew he wasn't.
This was a test.
A trap to catch them all in one big lie.
"You two know each other?" Rebekah turned to Tyler and narrowed her eyes slightly at the teen boy. She scoffed in annoyance, "Of bloody course you do. Why was I the only person who didn't know you were alive all this time!" she snapped at Marcel
Marcel sighed, "Weren't you a little busy fleeing the city from your Daddy? Now. Why are you here?"
Knowing Elijah was keeping a low profile she said the one thing she knew was believable.
Hopefully it works.
"Elijah" Rebekah sighed, "I think Klaus has done something to him" she said knowing a Mikaelson sibling argument was the one thing Marcel would dismiss immediately. Marcel had always been following Nik around like a lost puppy as a child. In the end, Marcel had learnt that the Mikaelson's bickered and there was nothing that could prevent it.
"Stop, stop right there" Marcel interrupted just as she had expected him to do. "If there's one thing I've learned about you Mikaelson's - it's don't get in the middle of family feuding. Doesn't end well"
It was true.
Then again, that had been back in the 1800's when they had all been going through a particularly rocky time. Things had been bound to boil over eventually and once they had all felt safe enough to stop running, they had allowed at that pent up emotion to be taken out on each other. Cause sometimes that's just what happens when you've all been together for a few hundred years without much room to breathe.
Marcel had been witness to a particularly volatile time.
Rebekah scoffed, "Even after all you've achieved. You're still scared of him?"
Marcel's jaw clenched as he denied it, "I'm not scared of anything" he said. Marcel sounded like he might even believe it. That or Marcel had gotten a lot better at lying than he once had been.
"If I find out that you know where Elijah is" Rebekah threatened as she stepped forward. "You needn't fear Klaus. I'll kill you myself"
"Nostalgia is a blast and all... but I can't help you" Marcel said, standing his ground. "It was nice seeing you though. Good luck finding what you're looking for"
Rebekah gave him a glare before she turned her back on him. Her eyes met Jeremy and Tyler's as she mouthed 'stay here' to them and strutted out the café doors again. Rebekah sighed as she felt Marcel's eyes watching her leave. She hoped Marcel wouldn't ask the boys too many questions they couldn't answer.
DAVINA POV:
Davina looked up from her phone when Marcel walked into her room. She smiled at him but it dropped when he paced the floor a little in agitation. Davina sat up as she waited to see if he was going to tell her what was going on or not.
Marcel hadn't really been telling her much lately.
Something was happening with the witches though, that much she knew from the favours she does for him. Marcel had wanted to help her learn to control her new powers but Davina wasn't really sure how these spells she was doing helped.
It as simple though.
The spells were easy to do now and took only a few minutes anyway. After Marcel and Jacqueline rescued her from being killed by her Coven she kind of owed Marcel anyway. Even though Marcel says she doesn't owe him, she still feels indebted to him anyway. Davina just hoped that telling him which witches were performing magic and when helped him protect his vampires. Davina was the reason they were all in danger in the first place... the least she could do was warm them of potential dangers.
"Marcel?" Davina called quietly
Marcel stopped and looked at her again with a sigh, "I need to ask you for a favour... I think I'm in trouble Davina"
Trouble?
Davina nodded without hesitation and stood from the bed as she walked over to him. "Whatever you need, Marcel. You saved me - I can do the same for you" she told him
She knew she could.
Davina had learnt a lot since she had been saved by Jacqueline and Marcel. She was a great witch now with all the training she had been getting. Jacqueline and Kol had been teaching her spells and witch history for a while now. Kol even facetimes her to teach her one of the easier spells form his many grimoires that he had written over the years.
It had been a great help.
Kol and Jacqueline had even come here for a lesson since they moved to New Orleans again.
Though Davina didn't mention that to Marcel cause Rebekah had already told her about the complicated past. Marcel had been like a son to Klaus but when Mikael found the Mikaelson's in New Orleans Mikael had tried to kill them all. The Mikaelson's had thought Marcel was dead and mourned a member of their family, a son, a brother... but Marcel wasn't dead.
Marcel had taken over New Orleans.
Davina didn't know Marcel's side of the story but she didn't think there was a real excuse for what he had done. Marcel had chosen to become a king over finding his family again.
Davina didn't understand that.
She wondered if Marcel thought maybe the Mikaelson's had been killed by Mikael after all these years?
Cause Davina had spent more than enough time with the Mikaelson's to know they were great people. Davina wished her own family had been more like them. She was grateful every day that she had met them all. Especially grateful that she had met Tyler though...
And Jacqueline.
The entire family had taken Davina in without a second thought and they treated her like she had always been there with them. Elijah was like the father of the group - stern, calm, smart but also very kind and full of advice for any problem one might have. Klaus was like the older brother who acts like he's too cool to care but does anyway. Klaus is always talking about art or expensive things and sometimes he's an ass but he'd do anything for his family. Kol is like the little brother who can never stop getting into trouble and playing tricks. Though Kol was surprisingly caring when someone's upset and in need of cheering up and he's really smart when it comes to magic.
Davina couldn't imagine what loosing her own magic would feel like... but she'd bet it's horrible.
It explained why Kol could sometimes be a little crazy and reckless though. Davina was with Jacqueline and Rebekah in hoping that recklessness wouldn't rub off on Jeremy. Cause Davina likes Jeremy too, he's like the calm and light one in the family. Jeremy's always doing art or having a laugh about something - he's a good guy. Jacqueline had raised Jeremy well. Rebekah was doing a great job at teaching Jeremy that being a vampire didn't automatically make someone a monster.
And Tyler...
Davina always blushed when she thought about Tyler though. She has the biggest crush on him but it's never been the right time to date or anything. She still had a little hope for the future. Especially since Rebekah had told her that Tyler drove Jacqueline up the wall by sulking about the time Davina hadn't been able call.
That made her a little giddy in knowing her feelings were returned.
Davina just wished Marcel would agree about Tyler cause sometimes Marcel seems to forget she's old enough to date. Not to mention Marcel didn't like Tyler cause he's a werewolf but that wasn't all Tyler is. Davina wished Marcel would take a chance to get to know Tyler more.
She doubted he would though.
Davina was a little hurt by that but she still cared about Marcel anyway. Marcel had saved her life and he keeps her hidden from the witches still. His guys are being put in danger to protect her secret.
Marcel's family now.
Jacqueline had taught her that family is everything. Davina wouldn't turn her back on Marcel just because he didn't like the boy she has a crush on.
"What do you need me to do?" Davina asked as she looked back at Marcel, determination in her eyes.
"There are some people who've come to town again. They don't belong here" Marcel began, "But it's looking like they're here to stay. It's proving kinda tough to convince them to leave again"
"Okay?" Davina nodded slowly as she prompted him to continue
What did he want her to do?
"I'm gonna need you to figure out how to kill them" Marcel said seriously. "I need you to figure out how to kill an Original Vampire"
Davina's mouth went dry as she stared at Marcel trying to comprehend what she was hearing from him. Marcel wanted her to kill an Original Vampire... as in the family of Original Vampires... as in the Mikaelson family. The very people she had come to consider her own family and friends. Marcel want's her to figure out a way to kill them and then- and then- then they'll be gone and she'll have betrayed the people who welcomed her with open arms.
She couldn't do it.
Could she?
"Don't be scared, Davina" Marcel gave her an easy smile that Davina didn't think reached his eyes. "I'll protect you from them. I just need you to tell me how to kill them - then I can do the deed myself. We'll finally be rid of them"
No!
Davina didn't want to be rid of them and she didn't want Marcel to kill them either.
"Why do you need to kill them?" Davina asked him
Marcel's lips pursed at the question before he sighed and said, "You don't need to worry about that, kid. If you're not strong enough to do this I can ask someone else? If you don't know how, it's fine" Marcel assured
"I'm strong enough" Davina snapped in offence
"Woah, woah" Marcel chuckled and held his hands up. "I didn't mean to offend you, D. I was just making sure that you can do this for me"
"I'll need time" Davina said eventually
Marcel nodded and smiled at her in thanks before he left the room and went back to doing whatever he had been so busy doing all week. Marcel had been coming to see her less and less lately. The only times he really came to see her now was to drop off food or ask for favours.
Davina sat on her bed and put her head in her hands with a groan. She didn't know what to do!
What was she supposed to do?
There was no way she could allow Marcel to kill the Mikaelson's but she didn't think there was any way for her to convince Marcel not to try.
What had Marcel gotten into?
Davina knew that if Marcel wasn't going to tell her anything that there was only one person who would tell her without questioning it. If Davina called Jacqueline then the older witch would probably get suspicious of why she wanted to know. Rebekah, Kol, Jeremy and Elijah were all ruled out for the very same reasons. Klaus was way too paranoid not to be immediately suspicious of her calling him in the first place.
That leaves Tyler.
However, Davina knew that if Tyler found out about Marcel's request then Tyler would go straight to Jacqueline. Davina was going to keep Marcel's plan to herself until she can figure out what's going on.
So she hit dial.
"Davina" Tyler greeted, "Hey"
"Hey, Ty, you think you have time to talk?" Davina asked calmly and instantly smiled when she heard his voice.
"Of course" Tyler agreed
Davina sighed, "Think we can talk in private, Ty?" she asked
"Uh, okay? Hang on" Tyler said before the sound of wind whooshing past the phone made her cringe. "Alright. What's going on? Is everything alright?"
"I'm fine" Davina assured him truthfully before sighing again. "I'm worried about Marcel. I never get to leave here and I want to know what is going on out there. So do you know?"
Tyler was silent.
Davina frowned, "Tyler? Please, Tyler, I need to know what's going on right now because I'm worried" she begged knowing his silence meant he knew something about Marcel.
"Marcel isn't the guy you think he is, Davina" Tyler sighed heavily, "He's killing people in the streets to send a message. He's keeping werewolves out of town and slaughtering them if they enter the quarter"
Davina gasped
"No. He wouldn't do that, Tyler" Davina denied instantly.
"I wouldn't lie to you about this, Davina" Tyler retorted, "I wouldn't lie. Why would I lie about this? Marcel is power hungry. He wants to be king of New Orleans. He's slaughtering the witches for using any and all magic when in the city, taking their bodies from their families. Marcel's been bragging about some weapon he has against the witches - something to tell him when they're using magic. He catches them using magic and he kills them in the streets"
Davina shook her head.
No!
No that can't be true!
Marcel had told her that he needed to know who was using magic to determine if they were conspiring against him. If they were one of the witches trying to find Davina then he went and stopped them and if they weren't, he did nothing.
"He wouldn't do that" Davina insisted but something deep in her gut knew Tyler was right.
It sadly made sense now... how else would Tyler know Marcel was getting the information about the witches doing magic?
"He is" Tyler insisted, "Now he's coming after my family too. Davina. Marcel is out of control. He's not the man we thought he was. Jacqueline was going to talk to you about coming to stay with us - about getting away from him but she was worried Marcel would go after you if he found out"
Marcel wouldn't!
"No" Davina mumbled
Tyler sighed, "Davina. I know this is hard to hear but maybe you should talk to Jacqueline about all this? She'll know what to do and she can get you out and keep you safe. The witches aren't looking for you anymore"
"What?" Davina frowned
"Whatever this weapon Marcel has over the witches means they're too scared to do any magic. Not to mention Jacqueline made sure you couldn't be found using a locator spell" Tyler said, "The witches are powerless right now"
"I've... gotta go. I'll call later" Davina mumbled before she hung up on him. Davina threw herself onto the bed and stared up at the ceiling as tears welled in her eyes. She wanted so badly to deny everything Tyler was saying but she couldn't. Marcel had been distant and busy and everything lined up when she thought about it.
Marcel has been using her As some sort of weapon to get him more power?
Davina sniffled and picked up her phone as she clicked onto Jacqueline's name. Davina knew without a doubt that she could trust Jacqueline. The woman had never, not once, asked for anything. Jacqueline had only ever told her to enjoy being a kid and having time free from the witches when in Mystic falls.
"Jacqueline" Davina sniffled
"Davina?" Jacqueline frowned, "What's wrong?"
"Marcel just asked me to find a way to kill the others" Davina revealed, "I've been doing spells for him to monitor the witches using magic... I- I didn't know what he was doing"
Jacqueline was silent.
"Are you telling me you want out? Or that you're going to remain with Marcel anyway?" Jacqueline asked but her voice held no judgement in it as she asked the question.
"I want out" Davina said firmly
The sadness was slowly starting to fade the more she thought about what had happened. Davina had allowed herself to be locked up in a Church attic while someone else protected her. Maybe it was time she started protecting herself? Davina knew if anyone was gonna fully support that, then it would be Jacqueline.
"Then I'll come and get you. Just hang in there while I organise a distraction for Marcel" Jacqueline said
"Alright" Davina nodded as she hung up and started collecting all of her things that she would need to take.
"We've got a problem" Jacqueline announced through gritted teeth as she barged into Elijah's office where he and Klaus were discussing tonight's plans.
Both men turned to her expectantly.
"Davina" Jacqueline sighed, "Davina is Marcel's big weapon"
Elijah frowned, "I do not follow... how is Davina involved in this ordeal?"
"Marcel has been keeping Davina up in the Church attic this entire time. She hasn't seen the state New Orleans is in now... Marcel told Davina that the witches were attacking his vampires to find her location" Jacqueline pretty much threw herself into the chair as she explained. "Davina has been monitoring all magic use in the Quarter and giving the information to Marcel. Marcel told her that he was only going after the witches using magic against his vampires"
Klaus frowned, "Marcel had been using Davina as his own personal teen-witch magic shield?"
"Something like that" Jacqueline scoffed but nodded in agreement. "Davina found out. She want's out... but he'll never let me take her when all he can see is the power she has. Marcel asked her to find a way to kill you all"
Jacqueline sighed.
Klaus looked particularly angry to hear the news of Marcel's further betrayal.
Elijah nodded and adjusted his cufflinks as he spoke, "Well then we need a plan to distract Marcel"
"Tonight is the charity event" Klaus shrugged, "Rebekah has arranged for Camille to attend the party as a distraction. At a party full of vampires he isn't likely to leave Camille alone"
"Or we could speed up your plans to get close to Marcel?" Jacqueline posed the idea
Klaus rose a brow, "I assume this means you have a plan you'd like to pitch, love? I've come to realise you have quite the deviant mind" he chuckled
That was the closest thing to a compliment Klaus would ever give.
Jacqueline snorted.
"I was thinking. What happens if something goes wrong tonight at the rousting?" Jacqueline asked with an innocent shrug. "Thierry is leading the rousting - I'd bet that he keeps his guys away from his little girlfriend"
Klaus laughed and nodded, "Breaking Marcel's number one rule has to come with some serious consequences - even for Thierry"
"Indeed" Elijah looked slightly impressed by the idea as he regarded them both curiously. "It would serve us well for providing the opportunity for Niklaus to be more involved in Marcels business. However, it would require something more to allow Niklaus to reap such opportunity"
Jacqueline nodded.
Admittedly, she hadn't gotten that far in the plan just yet. Considering she had only spoken to Davina an hour ago. It was still an achievement to have thought this much through.
"What if someone gave Katie the idea she could save the love of her life?" Jacqueline asked
"Oh to be young and in love in the city witches and vampires are at war" Klaus drew out in amusement. "How very tragic"
"Only problem is - how do we make sure Katie will try and save her boyfriend?" Rebekah asked as she walked into the office and joined their conspiring. Jacqueline smiled when her girlfriend took a seat on the arm of the chair she was occupying. Rebekah's hand moving to squeeze Jacqueline's knee in support.
Rebekah could probably feel Jacqueline's worry.
Jacqueline sighed.
"Sophie Deveraux" Elijah suddenly announced, "We know now that the reason the witches couldn't allow us to kill Marcel was because they wanted his 'weapon' for themselves. If we want to ensure Davina is safe then we cannot allow the witches to discover her location"
Okay...
Jacqueline wasn't quite following how Sophie could help with convince Katie to do this.
"The witches have not been allowed to use magic - say, if one witch was to do a large spell, a smaller one might be able to be masked. Correct?" Elijah asked
Jacqueline nodded, "If Sophie channelled Katie's magic then nobody would know as long as the spells occurred simultaneously"
"But won't Sophie realise Davina's location is cloaked once she begins the spell?" Rebekah countered
Jacqueline nodded.
"Not if while Katie is going after Thierry, no doubt attempting to kill Marcel, that I swoop in and save the day" Klaus smirked, "Thierry is punished, Marcel owes me one, Davina is safe and Sophie think's she's failed and that the threat still looms over the witches"
Wow.
It certainly was an elaborate plan...
It could work though.
"We would have to make rather punctual arrangements this afternoon" Elijah agreed nodding as he looked at them all.
"I should be outside right when Katie attacks" Jacqueline said, "I don't know how strong Katie is... we'll need to make sure that Marcel can't kill Katie on his own. If she's not strong enough while being channelled - I'll keep them down from the side lines"
Klaus nodded and grinned, "Sounds like a plan then"
"Yes" Elijah agreed, "While we are out Jeremy and Tyler will remain with Hayley. I will collect Davina while the three of you enact the plan at the charity event"
"Great" Jacqueline nodded
Jacqueline stood and allowed Rebekah to take her hand as they walked out of Elijah's office. Tonight was going to be even more eventful than they had originally anticipated it to be. Jacqueline just hoped that they could pull this off without a hitch. If even one little thing goes wrong then everything they have been doing would get exposed.
That couldn't happen.
Especially not when they were finally able to see the finish line not too far ahead.
After tonight there would be no 'weapon' that they were going to have to find out about. There would be no trusted voice of reason whispering into Marcel's ear anymore. Marcel's cronies following him would begin to doubt his leadership with all the showing off Marcel has been doing lately. Especially when that showing off leads to Thierry receiving no leniency for fear of Marcel looking bad to Klaus.
The best part is that their family came out smelling of roses.
Not to mention Marcel still has no idea that Elijah and Kol are even in town. Elijah has been keeping a low profile around town since they first arrived in New Orleans.
It had been making Marcel nervous.
Marcel's male ego dismisses Rebekah as simply a woman who's still bitter about their 'breakup' rather than a real enemy. Which works for them as Rebekah can be seen around town without gaining too much suspicion. Not to mention Marcel still hasn't discovered Jacqueline's connection to the Mikaelson family yet. As far as Marcel is aware, Klaus is the only threat in town. Even then Klaus has been acting all buddy-buddy with Marcel the entire time.
Their plan is working so far.
Now it's time to put the next phase into action.
Cause tomorrow brings new challenges on their list of to-plot-at-a-later-date. They still need to unlink Hayley from Sophie without harming the baby by doing so. However, that was a problem for another day and Jacqueline wasn't even going to attempt to think about that right now. She needed to keep her head in the game if she wanted to ensure that she can get Davina out and safe without alerting Marcel.
It was going to be along night.
