QUARANTASEI

REBEKAH POV:

"Family meeting, if you all will" Elijah formally announced as he guided everyone into his office.

Nik took a seat at one of the chairs opposite Elijah's desk and poured himself a glass of Whiskey. Kol leaned against the fireplace looking completely uninterested in all of this plotting to get New Orleans back. Tyler stood beside Davina who looked rather nervous to be brought into a family meeting. Jeremy leaned against the fireplace beside Kol and allowed Hayley to take the second chair. Rebekah smiled as she sat down across Jacqueline's lap in the third chair opposite Elijah's deck

They all waited patiently for Elijah to begin with what he has to say.

Clearly it was important.

"Everything that brought our family to New Orleans was a lie - this story that Sophie Deveraux fabricated, this struggle for control of the French Quarter, this war between vampires and witches" Elijah rolled up the sleeves on his dress shirt as he spoke. "None of it was over territory at all. This was all over power"

"It was over Davina's power" Kol nodded, for the first time looking interested in the conversation at hand.

Kol had taken to teaching Davina spells lately. He seemed to regard the young girl as a little sister if not a daughter to guide.

Rebekah was glad to see Kol protective of Davina.

Elijah nodded, "For those of us who aren't familiar with the entire story... Jacqueline would you please explain"

Jacqueline nodded, "When I got to town 8 months ago Sophie Deveraux and some of the other witches were worried about what a more radical faction of the coven was doing. The elders had a plan but they weren't telling anyone anything about it - being secretive like that is never a good sign. I was asked by a contact for my Coven to look into it... The Harvest is a power grab that hasn't been successfully done in hundreds of years. The elders of that coven hadn't told everyone it required killing the girls involved. They hadn't said that they wanted the power to be able to take over the French Quarter"

"They told us it was appease our ancestors" Davina spoke up angrily as she fixed a glare onto the floor in front of her. "They lied and said all they needed to do was cut our palms... we were treated like princesses as they lead us to our deaths"

"I don't know if they would have performed the ritual right or not" Jacqueline admitted, "But they were lying about what would be done and why they were doing it. They didn't want the vampires to hear about them getting more magic"

"Clearly you intervened though" Nik looked at Jacqueline and Davina expectantly.

Jacqueline hadn't gone into much detail when introducing Davina to them after all. Rebekah doubted Marcel was going to explain it Nik - at least not the true version.

"Sophie Deveraux didn't think it was real... I cared more about the fact these elders weren't being honest with the girls. If someone willingly allows their coven to kill them - that's one thing, I guess, but these were children who had no idea" Jacqueline shook her head sadly. "The plan was to get to all the girls. To stop the entire thing all together. Vampires have to be invited into the cemetery and it took longer than we anticipated for me to work around that - we only got there in time to save Davina"

Davina nodded as she looked up at them all.

Elijah gave Davina a small smile before he continued on.

"8 months ago Sophie and her sister Jane-Anne lost everything. Now, 4 months after that a young, pregnant girl wanders into their restaurant. Suddenly all hope is renewed. Jane-Anne actually sacrificed her life so that her sister could use Nicklaus to find Davina" Elijah looked around at them all as he spoke. "If Sophie Deveraux is successful in capturing Davina, she can return Jane-Anne's daughter back to life. We thought we had come here to wage war for power... but this is about family"

Family.

Rebekah mused silently that she would do anything for her family. It made her wonder what lengths others would go to?

Family was a dangerous motivator.

"What are we going to do to protect Davina, brother?" Kol demanded, "I don't bloody well care about this Jane-Anne's daughter enough to let them kill Davina"

"Sophie will fight to the death to return her niece to life" Nik warned, "That makes her more dangerous than we first thought"

"Indeed" Elijah nodded, "However, thanks to the other nights ploy we now have Davina returned to us - her family"

Davina smiled and blushed a little at being included as family.

Rebekah thought the girl was adorable.

"Marcel will be looking for Davina but he'll never admit to anyone that she's missing" Jacqueline spoke up with a shrug. "Once it get's out that his 'weapon' for controlling the witches is gone..."

Everyone nodded.

"The vampires don't seem to know of Davina's continued presence in Marcel's life" Rebekah added helpfully

Nik nodded, "Well then that keeps the threat alive for the witches"

"Indeed it does" Elijah agreed, "We now only have to ensure neither side realises that Davina is here with us. If we can do that, then the next step is to remove the linking spell on Hayley"

Hayley nodded eagerly, 'I'd like to not have to worry about my life being in the hands of a dangerous, desperate witch"

Rebekah snorted.

"Have you come along with that any Jacqueline?" Elijah asked

Jacqueline pursed her lips, "The baby is the unknown factor in all of this... too much magic like this could hurt Hayley - I don't know how it could hurt the baby. I'll keep researching and I've contacted the Coven... but for now I have nothing on that front"

Nik sighed, "We'll have to find a way to get Sophie to unlink herself then"

"Do you really think there is a way to do that?" Hayley looked doubtful that it was possible.

Nik just smirked.

Elijah quickly broached more mundane family issues. Such as the fact that Davina would now be staying with them. As well as household shopping responsibilities being given to Jeremy, Tyler and Davina for this week.

Rebekah smiled as listened.

She couldn't help but feel particularly happy at how her family had turned out. Rebekah had spent years fighting constantly with her brothers. She had once thought none of them would experience true happiness... yet here they all are.

Together.

And happy.

Rebekah was amazed every time she looked over to see them all together and happy. She even found she liked the new additions to the Mikaelson family just as much. It felt like they'd always been this way. Everything just clicked into place suddenly and it was like the entire world made sense again.

Or rather, it all made sense for the first time.

"Any concerns?" Elijah looked between them all when nobody spoke up.

"Great! Can we leave now?" Kol grinned

Elijah nodded, "You may all resume your morning" he dismissed them

They all stood and made a quick exit from Elijahs office. The family meeting had given them all updates but it was rather boring sometimes. Rebekah tugged Jacquelines hand as they walked into the entertainment room once again.

"Hmmm" Jacqueline sighed and fell onto the couch. "What are we doing today?"

"Helping me" Nik announced to Jacqueline as he walked into the room. "I have a task for you to help with. Come along, love"

Jacqueline groaned.

Rebekah huffed as she quickly kissed her girlfriend. They barely deepened the kiss before Nik was shouting for Jacqueline to hurry up.

"See you later then" Rebekah sighed

Jacqueline pecked her lips once more with a soft smile. "I'll text you"

Rebekah nodded.

She couldn't help but be slightly disappointed Nik was taking Jacqueline away again today. They hadn't had a chance to go out into the city for a day together yet. Rebekah had been looking forward to today. While she knew Jacqueline felt similarly, they both wanted to protect their family too much to be upset about it.

This plan was too important.

They both knew that.

Rebekah opened her computer and began going through the information Giovanni had sent. Rebekah was surprised to see the history behind BloodWitches for herself. She found she quite enjoyed learning and was looking forward to Coven Elder duties in the future.

It would be nice.

Rebekah's thoughts were interrupted when Kol, Davina and Tyler disappeared upstairs. Apparently a witch - Agnus was here for Hayley. Rebekah didn't know how she felt with Angus coming here but she didn't comment. It wasn't like Hayley could actually go anywhere else.

Or to a real doctor.

Agnus was Hayleys best option.

"You should go see a doctor" Agnus advised Hayley

"I told you Agnus. I feel great" Hayley said flippantly as she read through a magazine on the couch.

Agnus sighed, "You are overdue for a check-up" the old witch insisted

"What am I going to do? Pop into the Quarter for a quick ultrasound?" Hayley retorted sarcastically. "A pregnant werewolf escorted by a witch? Nothing to see here"

Rebekah bristled, "You know a lot of women would kill to have a child. Strikes me as odd that you're not taking better care of yours"

Rebekah forced herself to casually go back to reading the information from Giovanni on her computer. She shouldn't have said anything and she knew it. Especially not when she now has Elijah, Jeremy and Hayley all looking at her curiously. Rebekah didn't want to speak with any of them about the bitterness she felt not being able to have her own children.

She didn't want to speak with anyone about it.

Not even Jacqueline.

Rebekah has had 1000 years to come around to the fact that she won't be able to have children of her own. She was content with being able to teach and care for Jeremy and Tyler until recently.

It was Hayley who had stirred those old feelings.

Rebekah had long ago accepted the fact it simply would never happen. Then her brother went and got a woman pregnant accidentally...

Nik hadn't even wanted children!

Not even as humans... yet he gets a child anyway and Rebekah would forever remain sterile in her vampiric life. Rebekah would never trade her life now to become human, she embraced being a vampire for all it is. She would never want to give up the life she has for anything. However, it didn't mean old feeling's always remained as buried as they had once been.

Nik having a child of his own when he didn't even want one, was a kick to the gut.

But that's all it is.

Cause facts are facts

Rebekah was not half werewolf like Nik - there was no hope for her anymore.

Not for this.

"I know a doctor out in the Bayou off the beaten path" Agnus began again, "Now I took the liberty of making an appointment for you tonight. After hours, just us. Vampires will never get word of it"

"Okay" Hayley sighed, "Fine. Bayou baby doctor it is"

Jacqueline lovingly kissed Rebekah when they both caught their breaths again. Sex had gotten even more intense with the BloodBond. Now blood sharing was something they did often and it always made the magical connection between them more sensitive.

Jacqueline wondered if it were possible to grow even closer?

She doubted it.

Jacqueline and Rebekah were already as close as it gets. They just worked so well together that neither had any issue going from awkward friends to girlfriends. They naturally balanced each other out. Sometimes Jacqueline still wondered how it was possible that she had even met her BlodBonded - the one person in the world that matched her in every way.

It was mind boggling.

They were both so different yet similar at the same time.

They just work though.

Rebekah was more self-aware of her emotions, more willing to show them to people she trusts. Jacqueline had never shown anyone her emotions whether she trusted them or not. For a long time Jacqueline thought she was incapable of sharing that part of herself. Rebekah brought that part of Jacqueline out though. Rebekah made it easy for Jacqueline to share her feelings, knowing they would never be judged or seen as weakness.

Jacqueline felt she was a better person for that particular thing.

Jacqueline was warmer now, less guarded.

After sharing her feelings with Rebekah without judgment she had slowly been able to let a few others in. That didn't mean she was going to cry on their shoulders... but it meant she didn't hide her happiness or worry just for the sake of it.

It was a relief to be honest.

Jacqueline now knew what it was like not to constantly have her guard up. Not to constantly remain composed and defensive.

She didn't want to go back to that.

That wasn't the only thing that their bond had helped with though. Her relationship with Rebekah had made Jacqueline finally understand that she was capable of love. Jacqueline had always hated the fact that she just wasn't able to connect properly with people. She had feared Miranda and Greyson had crushed the part of her that simply took someone as they are. Jacqueline hadn't trusted anyone, not been wary of anyone, straight off the bat since she was a child.

Jacqueline was honestly delighted to see that she could rebuild that part of herself.

That it wasn't gone forever.

Of course, she knew the reasons one shouldn't trust someone having just met them... but she liked to not be as cynical as before. That was a one way track to becoming paranoid like Klaus. Klaus was so conditioned to not trusting that he would always jump to the worst conclusion. Whether or not he truly believed that person would go against him.

It was just the way his mind worked.

Jacqueline had once feared she would end up the exact same way. In some aspects, she is just like Klaus, but not as intense. If someone she trusted betrayed her then there is no second chances - not anymore. However, her mind still allows her to give them the benefit of the doubt until proven.

Jacqueline sighed.

Rebekah tugged on her hand with a pout. "What are you thinking about, babe? Don't you want to cuddle?"

Jacqueline smirked, "Cuddling is what had us escaping up to our room for a few hours in the first place."

Rebekah rolled her eyes

Jacqueline smiled and rolled over to wrap her arms around Rebekah's waist. She pulled her naked girlfriend against her in the bed. They lay facing each other as they got stuck in their thoughts. Jacqueline's hand moved up to run up and down Rebekah's spine as they cuddled.

"What are you thinking about?" Rebekah asked

Jacqueline hummed, "I'm thinking about what I always think about" she smiled lovingly at her girlfriends confused face. "You" Jacqueline said pecking Rebekah's lips.

Rebekah laughed

"You're too cute" Rebekah grinned

"I'm not cute" she huffed in only partially exaggerated offence. "Sexy, beautiful, stunning... but not cute"

"Of course" Rebekah dramatically agreed with an eye roll. "My apologies. Your not cute, your a wench"

Jacqueline gasped and held a hand to her heart. "Wow. I see how it is now. I was sexy earlier and now that we've had sex I'm a wench!" She playfully accused

Rebekah laughed and pulled her closer again.

"I love you" Jacqueline said seriously as she looked at Rebekah again. Her hand came up to cup Rebekah's cheek. "I really love you, baby"

Rebekah lent into her touch and nodded, "I love you too"

"Good. Cause I don't know what I'd do without you, Rebekah" Jacqueline implored with a sudden frown. "Actually I do know where I'd be... and I don't want that"

"Hey. I'm right here" Rebekah said, gently pressing a kiss to Jacqueline's hand.

Jacqueline nodded and relaxed again. She pulled Rebekah flush against her and held her girlfriend tight. Jacqueline knew it wasn't logical but after thinking of what her life would look like without Rebekah...

She didn't ever want that.

The thought of not having Rebekah sent chills down her spine. The bad kind of chills too... the ones that make your stomach churn with fear and dread.

Jacqueline tenderly kissed her girlfriend again. This time their kiss was lazy and sloppy as they held each other close. It wasn't filled with need or lust but it was just as amazing regardless. Jacqueline hummed as her tongue swept across Rebekah's. Her hand moving to tangle in Rebekah's blonde hair as the kiss deepened.

Rebekah smiled against the kiss and bit Jacqueline lip playfully.

Jacqueline closed her eyes, leaning her forehead against her girlfriends. They held each other close as they lay in bed contently. Jacqueline hummed and rested her head on Rebekah's shoulder, relaxing. Sleep threatened to overtake her as she contently and comfortably snuggled with her girlfriend.

Jacqueline didn't fight it.

Humming Jacqueline allowed herself to doze off now. She felt her body relax against Rebekah's as her mind slowed down.

Then she jolted.

Jacqueline panted at the intense feeling of fear and pain that ran down her spine. Her chest tightened in anxiety and pain as panic washed over her again. The air around her crackled in dark and angry magic... like it was reaching out for someone.

"Jacqueline?" Rebekah's hands instantly reached out for Jacqueline as she sat up in bed.

Jacqueline groaned and shook her head in an attempt to clear the feeling from her mind. Jacqueline frowned at Rebekah's tense face and wondered if her girlfriend had felt that too?

"Did you feel that?" Jacqueline asked

Rebekah nodded, "It wasn't my fear or panic... did you have a bad dream?"

Jacqueline shook her head, "I was barely even asleep. It wasn't my fear either" She murmured as her brows furrowed in confusion. "It's a BloodWitch!" She realised

A Blood Line connection!

Jacqueline jumped out of bed with realisation. She grabbed her phone just as it started to light up in a flurry of messages and calls. Jacqueline answered Pria and held it to her ear as she rushed to grab jeans.

"Pria? Is this a bloodline connection thing?" Jacqueline asked immediately

Pria hummed, "It is indeed. You are still in New Orleans correct?"

"Yes" Jacqueline agreed as she fastened her bra. "I can feel this weird and urgent pull"

"We believe it was a small faction of ancestral bound witches. They must have found Tara Mancinelli who was passing just outside of New Orleans" Pria confirmed, "You're closest. Do you have the ability to recover the girl?"

"Absolutely" Jacqueline confirmed with a voice as cold as ice. "I can handle this. I'll contact the coven when I have an update"

"Thank you" Pria said

Then they both hung up the phone.

Jacqueline felt the rage in her veins and welcomed it. Powerful emotions like this always were good motivators for defensive magic. Jacqueline fixed her hair in a messy bun before looking back at Rebekah who'd gotten dressed herself.

"Love you, baby" Jacqueline kissed her girlfriend. "I've got this, okay? I'll call you when I figure out where I'm going"

"Are you sure?" Rebekah asked

Jacqueline nodded, "Trust me? I'll have these witch bitches handled without breaking a sweat" She smirked

Rebekah chuckled and nodded before pressing a quick kiss to Jacqueline's lips.

Jacqueline nodded and grabbed her phone as she headed for the door. She barely even made it down the stairs before Kol and Davina were pausing in her way. Jacqueline rose a brow, "What's up?"

Kol narrowed his eyes, "Where are you going?"

"On a job for my Coven. Why?" Jacqueline shot back looking between the two of them.

Davina but her lip, "I felt this... I don't know. Like a title wave of magic just hit me and-and it was pure fear and pain"

Jacqueline sighed, "I'm gonna go handle it, alright? The magic you got from the other girls must make you more sensitive to all magic around you"

Davina nodded slowly, "Kol said the same thing. What did that feeling mean though?"

"It's a bloodline thing" Jacqueline waved it off with a shrug. "Don't worry about it. Only BloodWitches are supposed to feel it - it's like an SOS signal"

"So a BloodWitch is in trouble?" Davina gasped

Jacqueline nodded, "Yeah. A Mancinelli BloodWitch - from my bloodline. That's why Rebekah and I felt it too. I'm gonna go find Tara right now and I'll bring her back here to rest once I've got her back"

"Are you able to tell what's happened from this bloodline connection?" Kol's eyes had widened in wonder

Jacqueline rolled her eyes at him.

"Only her feelings - pain, fear..." Jacqueline shrugged, "And a pull. I know exactly where to go to find her. I know how urgently I need to get there. So, I'll be back later" Jacqueline quickly sped to the door and out to her car.

"Jacqueline!" Davina yelled and ran out for the house behind her

Jacqueline frowned but paused beside the car anyway. Jacqueline waited for Davina to rush over and frowned when the girl got in the passenger side with a first aid kit. "Woah! What are you doing?" Jacqueline asked

Davina gave her a look that was straight off Kol's stupid face.

Jacqueline groaned knowing it meant no good.

"Hurry up. We have a witch to save" Davina said leaving now room to be argued with.

Jacqueline grit her teeth in annoyance. Of course, she could force Davina out of the car but she didn't think it was a good idea. Jacqueline's magic was still by far stronger than Davina's but Davina was no helpless girl.

Not anymore at least.

Kol and Jacqueline had made sure of that as they trained her to use her newly enhanced magic. They had made sure Davina was capable of holding her own.

Jacqueline didn't have time for an argument and so she got into the car and started it. Sighing she closed her eyes and reached out with her magic. Tara Mancinelli's magic reached out for hers, calling her urgently to Tara's location.

Jacqueline simply trusted her magic to guide her the right way.

"You go and get Tara. Okay?" Jacqueline said as she glanced at Davina while driving. "The main priority is getting Tara out of there. Davina you need to be ready for a fight, but you need to find Tara and get her out"

Davina nodded, "I can do this, Jacqueline. You and Kol taught me how. I can do this"

Jacqueline sighed, "I know you can. However, so can I, Davina. My priority is you and Tara now"

Davina nodded, "I'll get Tara. Do you know what she looks like?"

"Nope" Jacqueline said, "Never met before. Just call out her name if you need to - I assume she'd be the only one scared and in pain though"

"Right" Davina nodded

Jacqueline nodded and continued to drive as the magic intensified. Jacqueline breathed out through gritted teeth as she focused on blocking Tara's emotions. Jacqueline needed to focus and having fear projected onto her wasn't exactly helping at the moment. Thankfully Jacqueline was confident in her ability to fight and felt no reluctance to do so.

Jacqueline rolled her shoulders as she pushed away Tara's emotions.

They arrived at the location.

Jacqueline looked at Davina seriously, "Stay close and be ready. If you need to - don't be afraid to hurt them, Davina. These people kidnapped a young girl just because of her blood. They aren't the good guys"

Davina nodded with grim determination on her face.

Jacqueline didn't like that Davina might have to kill but she supposed that was just life. Jacqueline knew there was no way to shelter someone completely from this part of life. At least Jacqueline was here to protect Davina if it came down to it.

They got out of the car silently.

Jacqueline eyed the small warehouse sceptically. She could feel Tara's magic from outside the warehouse. She could also feel the wards of other witches protecting the location. Likely to ensure nobody could get inside or hear something might be happening. However, the one thing about BloodWitches was that they kept their true extent of their powers secret. Thankfully that meant that Nature bound or Ancestral bound witches didn't know what they were capable of doing.

It gave BloodWitches the upper hand.

Cause no matter how powerfully they are... sometimes you get caught off guard.

Being blitzed by a full coven of angry witches was enough to surprise anyone. A few seconds of hesitation is all that's needed to have things spiral. Once your down it's hard to get back up again, especially when your outnumbered.

Jacqueline reached out with her magic and felt the wards around the warehouse crumble.

It was an exhilarating feeling.

"Alright. Let's go" Jacqueline nodded to Davina who's eyes were wide at her sensitivity to magic. Jacqueline wondered if she thought it was exhilarating - how Davina thought it felt.

Jacqueline silently pushed the door open and slipped inside the warehouse.

The warehouse looked exactly how one would expect an abandoned warehouse to look. There was spray paint that stained the walls, trash gathered in the corners. The musty smell hit your nose instantly but it was mingled with the copper scent of blood. Waves of raw power hung statically in the air of the warehouse.

It brought chills down her spine.

The murmured chanting pulled Jacqueline in the direction of a hallway.

Slowly she walked in the direction, noticing two men standing further down the hall talking. They hadn't seen her yet and she lashed out with magic before they could make a sound. Jacqueline watched them hit the ground from a a distance. Their hearts at her feet and splashing her with freckles of blood.

Davina gasped

Jacqueline would have felt bad about Davina's reaction if her focus wasn't on the screams of an equally young BloodWitch.

Rage washed over her in its purest form.

"Wait here for until I yell for you. Then go in and grab Tara" Jacqueline said to Davina as they paused outside a large set of doors.

Davina nodded quickly

"Okay" Davina agreed, determination filling her eyes as the sound of pained screams for help. Clearly whatever horror Davina felt about those two men was gone now. When faced with what these witches were doing, it was practically impossible to feel bad about their deaths.

Jacqueline didn't know how she felt about Davina feeling that way.

She didn't question it though.

Now wasn't the time.

Jacqueline silently crept into the room and took in the scene. The girl, no older than Davina, was surrounded by witches. The girl was beaten and bloody and screaming in agony.

It was disgusting.

Jacqueline ignored the way her magic instantly zapped against Tara's - a familial connection formed.

Instead she squared her shoulders and planted her feet firmly on the ground. Her magic rising and building in aggressive rage. Jacqueline held her breath for a second before launching her magic at the witches. The wave of power was almost tangible as it sent the witches sprawling out onto the floor.

They recovered quick enough though.

"Another BloodWitch!" One older woman yelled in disgust.

Jacqueline felt her wrists break from a spell they thought would prevent her magic. Nature witches need words to perform magic and Ancestral bound witches need their hands. However, the only thing Jacqueline needs is the blood flowing in her veins. She rolled her wrists in agitation as they instantly healed.

"The devil girl healed!" One for the men spat out but his fear was evident in his voice.

Jacqueline smirked.

Heads rolled... literally

Jacqueline knocked the mans head clear off his body with a simply push of her magic. Jacqueline breathed deep and focused on hurting them, on killing them. She lashed out with her magic that worked her will.

The witches fought back.

As much as they could, anyway.

"Davina!" Jacqueline yelled once there was only 5 of the 27 witches left. Jacqueline could see that Tara wasn't doing well. Tara had yet to be able to push herself up off the warehouse floor.

Davina rushed into the warehouse and went straight for Tara.

Jacqueline kept an eye on the girls but didn't falter in her attack on the remaining witches. Jacqueline gasped as she was sent flying into the wall behind her. The current witches drawing power from their dead ancestors as the Coven was about to be completely killed off.

It didn't matter though - Jacqueline was still stronger than them.

She raised her wrist and tore a slash across it. The blood spilled out before healing a few seconds later. Jacqueline didn't need much blood though. She used what had spilled to intensify her magic. In one destructive sweep of her arm the 5 remaining witches heads were clear off their bodies.

It was like watching basketball balls bounce across a gym floor.

Jacqueline sighed once it was over, allowing her body to sag against the wall. The adrenaline washed away again. Jacqueline muttered as she looked around the blood covered room. She had certainly done some damage...

Jacqueline pulled out her phone and sent a message to Rebekah that she was on her way home.

Then she messaged Pria that she has Tara now.

Jacqueline sent her location to Kol asking him call his usual clean up crew. Kol's response was instant and just as cheeky as she had expected from him.

She rolled her eyes and walked out of the warehouse to the car. Her eyes softening as she spotted Davina in the backseat tending to Tara's injuries. Jacqueline got into the drivers seat and started up the car, pulling back onto the road carefully. "Hey, Tara, you doing okay?" Jacqueline asked checking in the rear-view mirror

Tara sighed but nodded, "You guys got there just in time. Thanks for that. I'm bruised but I don't think anything is broken"

Davina nodded, "Sprained wrist and ankle but the rest is just flesh wounds"

"Well you can stay with us until your healed. I've already send the Coven a message that I have you here" Jacqueline told the girl as she drove. "Just don't fall asleep until we know you don't have a concussion"

"M'kay" Tara nodded with a pained sigh

Jacqueline focused back on the road and Davina and Tara quietly chatted in the backseat. Jacqueline sent a wave of reassurance and love through the BloodBond to Rebekah as she drove. It made her smile when she felt Rebekah's responding relief and love.

"Are you sisters?" Tara asked Davina

"Jacqueline saved me when my Coven tried to kill me" Davina shrugged, "But we-" the girl cut herself off uncertainty

"We're family" Jacqueline confirmed with a nod to Davina through the rear-view mirror.

Davina beamed.

Tara chuckled before looking up at Jacqueline and announcing, "I felt that familial bond"

Jacqueline hummed, "Me too"

Davina looked between them with furrowed brows. "A familial bond? Is that like the bloodline thing?"

"Remember when I first met you?" Jacqueline asked looking back at the mirror briefly. "That little jolt you felt when I was talking to you in the Attic?"

Davina nodded, "Yeah... you said it makes us family. That your magic was connected to mine"

Jacqueline hummed, "The same thing happened to me and Tara. It means that in some way, shape or form, Tara will be important in my life"

"I wonder how..." Tara trailed off

Davina nodded in agreement, "It's so weird. Like, your magic knows the future?"

Jacqueline chuckled but completely agreed. Sometimes it was a completely shocking thing. Especially when you look back and realise just how quickly someone became vital in your life. It was a good thing though - it made it easier to find people you know you can trust.

Magic doesn't connect to someone who will betray you.

Jacqueline idly wondered if that was why her magic didn't connect to Elena?

She wondered if, had she had magic when she was a child, if it would have connected to Elena back then?

Or was Elena always destined to turn into a person Jacqueline didn't recognise?

Jacqueline shook her head to rid herself of the thoughts as she pulled the car into the driveway. She sighed silently before looking back at the sleepy girls and allowed herself a smile. "Come on, we're here" Jacqueline shook Davina's shoulder slightly

Davina sighed sleepily from the adrenaline crash and nodded her head. "Tara looks like she could use the sleep" Davina said before taking off the seat belt

Jacqueline hummed and got out of the car, scooping Tara up.

She rolled her eyes fondly when the young witch shifted to sleep on her shoulder. Jacqueline huffed but easily carried the teen into the plantation house. Davina chuckled and followed after them.

"Who's that?" Tyler asked emerging from the entertainment room when he heard then walk in.

Davina rushed over to Tyler and began telling him what had happened.

Jacqueline continued upstairs towards one of the spare rooms. She could feel that Rebekah wasn't here in the house and was a little disappointed not to see her girlfriend. Though Jacqueline refused to voice that thought. Instead she continued up the stairs and towards the spare room closest to her own.

Jacqueline set Tara on the bed carefully.

The girl must be in a world of pain right about now. Jacqueline reached out with her magic to assess the injuries. When her magic found no life threatening injury she pulled the blanket over the girl.

Tara looked even smaller in the big bed.

The girl couldn't be older than 16 or 17 though. Her tan skin was the only visible Mancinelli trait Tara had. The girls hair was light brown and had been dyed that silver balayage look. Jacqueline had seen the look becoming popular as of late and it suited Tara nicely.

Jacqueline looked up when she sensed someone in the doorway.

Jeremy raised a brow at her in question. "What are you doing in here? Who's that?"

"This is Tara" Jacqueline said quietly before moving to guide Jeremy and herself out of the bedroom. "She was taken and almost killed by some Ancestral witches today. Davina and I went and got her back"

Jeremys eyes widened, "Why did they attack her?"

Jacqueline gave him a sad look as she shrugged. "Cause she's a BloodWitch. I've dealt with the witches responsible. Now we just have to help Tara recover from the ordeal"

Jeremy nodded quickly in agreement.

"I can give her some blood to heal" Jeremy offered

Jacqueline rose a brow a him but shrugged again at the idea. "Wait to ask her when she wakes up. I'm gonna ask Davina to find some clothes for Tara and make something for her to eat"

Jeremy nodded.

"Go relax, Jer, don't worry" Jacqueline assured him soothingly. He looked a little anxious and spooked over someone getting attacked simply for being a witch.

Jeremy nodded, "Okay"

Jacqueline went into the kitchen and sped around as she started making dinner. She was surprised to see it was already 6 pm. Jacqueline hadn't even realised how long she had been gone for - it had felt like the entire thing was over pretty quickly.

Apparently not though.

Cause it had been 5 hours that she was gone. The drive there and back was only an hour each way.

Must have been the adrenaline kick.

Jacqueline wondered where the Mikaelson's had gone now. She knew Kol had gone to check for any remaining witches from the Coven she just killed. Kol had seemingly appointed himself protector of BloodWitches as of late. Rebekah seemed to think it was because Kol was reminded of the way Mikael had hunted them down.

Jacqueline supposed Kol's protectiveness wasn't hurting anyone.

Pria was glad she didn't have to send witches to clean up from the fight. The Coven also seemed to be glad that the Mikaelson's were ally's now too. Pria mentioned that the Coven was even considering meeting with Kol. They all knew Kol's reputation amongst witches and were keen to welcome someone like Kol.

Jacqueline wasn't so sure...

She loved Kol, of course, but the BloodWitch part of her was instantly protective of her Coven.

Kol wasn't one of them.

Kol wasn't invested with the Coven like Rebekah is and that made him unpredictable.

Jacqueline looked at occurrences such as today's one and knew the importance of keeping knowledge to themselves. BloodWitches were hunted and hated - they may be stronger but they're still people.

And people make mistakes.

Jacqueline knew that if other witches knew the full extent of their powers... they'd become more prepared for killing them. If that ever happened then BloodWitches once again wouldn't stand a chance. It had taken hundreds of years to hoard all knowledge pertaining to their power within the Coven.

Kol was an immortal vampire able to retain that information for the rest of his life.

They couldn't stop him from sharing it once he has it. That worried Jacqueline the most. Cause she knew the risks of that information getting out.

All it takes is one slip up.

One slip up that's shared with a Coven. A Coven that shares it with more Covens. Then BloodWitches will die as a result. It would take a whole new generation coming along to get rid of that information.

Jacqueline trusted Kol with her life... but she didn't trust him with her Covens future.

No matter how much she wanted to.

Jacqueline sighed as she shook herself from the thoughts. She quickly finished up the large deep dish of lasagne and put it in the oven. Jacqueline has had to triple her usual recipes as of late with how much more food they eat. More people means more food needs to be made.

And they have 9 people in their family.

Plus Tara now.

Unsurprisingly cooking for 9 people looks a lot like cooking for 20.

While she waited on the lasagne, Jacqueline caved and started making the hashbrown casserole dish for breakfast. If she made it now then all she had to do was put it in the oven tomorrow. Jacqueline rolled her eyes as she wrapped the cooking tins and put them in the fridge.

At least vamp speed made it quick to prepare...

Jacqueline listened carefully and heard Tara stir in her sleep. She grabbed a bottle of water and some aspirin.

"Here. I'll take it to her, Jaq" Jeremy quickly took the water and pill from her hand before rushing upstairs. Jacqueline watched him go with a bemused look on her face.

Ooookay?

Jacqueline didn't waste any time in teleporting into the clearing she knew Rebekah was in. Looking around everyone was already torn to shreds so she quickly approached her dead girlfriend. Jacqueline was surprised to see the red glow illuminating Rebekah's skin as she lay on the ground with an arrow through her heart.

Thankfully Originals can't die without Oak Wood.

"Oh my god!" Davina gasped

Jacqueline only spared the girl a quick glance as she knelt down at her girlfriends side. Her hand lifting some of the blonde hair out of Rebekah's face. "Don't worry, Davina, Original's can't die" Jacqueline assured the teen girl who looked pale at seeing Rebekah.

Davina knelt down and reached to grab Rebekah's hand but pulled back with a jerk. "Ow!" Davina yelped and clutched her burnt hand to her chest. "Why is her skin glowing?"

Jacqueline didn't honestly know...

But she could guess.

"I think it's because of our BloodBond" Jacqueline murmured as she realised she hadn't been burnt when touching Rebekah. "It has to be one of the magical perks Rebekah gets through the bond. She'll be safe until she can defend herself against a threat"

Davina's eyes widened.

Jacqueline reached out with her magic and prodded at Rebekah's consciousness. It was only seconds later that Rebekah gasped awake with a groan of pain soon following. The glow that surrounds her soon faded away.

"Jacq?" Rebekah frowned slightly in confusion as she sat up and leaned back against Jacqueline.

"Hey, baby" Jacqueline pecked her girlfriend on the lips as she gripped the arrow and pulled it out without warning. "You okay now?" Jacqueline asked scanning the blonde for any injury she might have missed before.

Rebekah nodded, "Yeah... I'm fine. Is Hayley okay?"

"Hayley was here?" Jacqueline frowned and looked up as she searched the dismembered bodies for any indication one of them might be Hayley. Her stomach churned at the idea that someone had killed the werewolf that had just become part of the family.

"Oh my god!" Davina gasped and frantically looked around for the pregnant woman. "Hayley's doctors appointment was here, wasn't it?"

"Hayley!" Rebekah yelled as she got to her feet and started looking around the field of dead bodies. "Hayley! Hayley!"

"Maybe someone took her?" Jacqueline ventured not seeing anyone that could pass as Hayley. She wasn't sure if someone having taken Hayley was good or not but at least it meant they still have time to get her back.

Right?

Jacqueline really fucking hoped so!

"Should we call for help looking?" Davina asked

Rebekah sighed, "I'll call Nik" she stated before pulling out her phone and dialling Klaus's number. They all stood looking around the Bayou for any sign of Hayley. It was too dark to venture too far from each other considering something out here had torn these witches to shreds.

It was too much for Hayley to have done.

"Hayley is missing" Rebekah said to Klaus over the phone and sighed at whatever Klaus said in response. Jacqueline stepped forward and rested her hand comfortingly on Rebekah's back as she listened into the conversation.

"What do you mean she's missing?" Klaus asked

"I mean she's missing. There's blood and bodies everywhere - someone's ripped this lot to shreds. There's no smart-aleck pregnant girl to be seen" Rebekah stated plainly

"Keep looking" Klaus sighed, "I'm on my way"

Jacqueline looked up at the little doctors office that wasn't too far from them now. "We should go check it out" Jacqueline said as the three of them began the walk towards the doctors office that no heartbeats could be heard from within.

Hayley wasn't in there.

Though maybe there was a clue about who had taken her in the office.

They all started looking around as they silently entered the doctors office. There was a dead woman in the hallway but the place looked untouched from the fight. Jacqueline could easily guess that Hayley had probably been here when the witches had shown up and then run. Though she wasn't sure how the witches ended up dead.

Maybe someone else had found out Hayley would be here?

Vampires?

Jacqueline didn't think that the Pack would kidnap anyone otherwise she might have even considered them. Though now that she thought about it... those witches could have been killed by one of the cursed wolves?

It seemed likely.

Maybe Hayley had been hurt and followed the Pack back to their houses for help?

Jacqueline sighed.

"Who took her?" Klaus asked as he zoomed into the doctors office.

"I don't know" Rebekah sighed

"What do you mean you don't know?" Klaus glared at Rebekah angrily. "Where is she and who killed her attackers, Rebekah?" he demanded harshly. His worry and care for his unborn child showing through his angry demands.

Wolves howled from outside.

Jacqueline's brows furrowed as she looked outside the window, ignoring Rebekah and Klaus's argument. Jacqueline knew they were taking out their feelings on the other right now - they would be fine once Hayley is back and safe. Rebekah is worried and guilty that she failed to protect Hayley and clearly Klaus was feeling the same.

They had all let Hayley go off to the appointment on her own.

Everyone had been busy.

They had all allowed Hayley to be led straight into a trap without realising until it was too late.

Jacqueline was searching the tree lines for any of the wolves or maybe even Hayley when she spotted the woman. "Hayley" Jacqueline said in relief and rushed out the door to catch the woman as her knees buckled. Jacqueline helped her stand again - she looked like she'd been dragged through the dirty or something. There was blood on her ripped shirt and she looked ready to pass out at any second.

"Hayley, what happened?" Klaus demanded as he followed Jacqueline out of the doctors office. "Tell me what happened" Klaus said, his voice making it clear that whoever was responsible would pay greatly.

"I can't remember" Hayley said as she righted herself on her feet again.

"You've completely healed" Klaus said in surprise as he inspected the tears and rips that had dry blood on them.

There wasn't a scratch on her skin anymore.

But there should be.

Hayley nodded, "One of the perks of being a werewolf, remember?"

"No. Not that fast" Klaus denied

Rebekah nodded slowly, "It's the baby" she announced as realisation dawned on all of them. "The vampire blood. Klaus's blood is in your system, it can heal any wound. You're own child healed you"

Hayley smiled through her surprise.

Rebekah sighed, "How did you escape? You were outnumbered, unarmed"

Hayley sighed as she fiddled nervously with her hands at the question they all waited expectantly for an answer to. Hayley shrugged, "I think it was the wolf. I think it's trying to protect me"

"The witches were supposed to protect you" Klaus growled, ignoring the comment about the wolves. "When I get my hands on Sophie Deveraux-"

Jacqueline almost felt sorry for the woman...

"It wasn't Sophie" Hayley cut Klaus off sternly. "It was Agnus"

Klaus sighed, "Fine! Sophie, Agnus! It's all the same to me anyway. I'll slaughter the lot of them for this"
