"Where do you want to put him?" Jacqueline asked as she stood in the middle of 'The Garden' listening to the details of Marcel's plan against Klaus Mikaelson.

"He needs to be away from all the others. We don't want him fomenting descent. He has a knack with words, he could talk his way out of hell" Marcel said, scratching the back of his neck as he spoke. "I got a spot picked out in the back. So the only person he's going to be talking to for the next 500 years is himself"

"It's going to be tough to keep him in here" Jacqueline noted with a rather indifferent shrug of her shoulders.

Marcel nodded anyway, "We'll need all of the best warriors. Klaus is crafty and strong. Betrayal makes him particularly nasty"

"I'm starting to realise as much" Jacqueline hummed in agreement. "So, you've explained the plan for what you'll do to him. There's just one tiny flaw I'm seeing"

"What's that?" Marcel asked

"How the hell are you going to get him here alone?" Jacqueline rolled her eyes at him. All this planning was one thing, but Marcel had to know there was no way Klaus would just show up if called. Klaus is way too paranoid and suspicious to fall for something like this.

Especially not with all their little spies.

Marcel grinned, "I'm glad you asked... Come on in here, Josh" Marcel called and the door creaked open as Josh, the compelled vampire, walked into the room nervously.

Josh offered Jacqueline a brief smile.

"Uh, Marcel? You called?" Josh hesitantly questioned his 'boss' that he been compelled to spy on. Of course, Josh already knew that Marcel was aware of the spying but Marcel didn't know that.

Marcel didn't know a lot of things though...

Certainly not the fact that Jacqueline had been the one to inform Klaus and Josh that Marcel knew about the compulsion. Nor did Marcel know it had been Jacqueline's idea to kill and compel Josh in the first place.

Marcel really didn't know much.

"Josh, listen, I know you've been working for Klaus" Marcel said seriously and took a step closer to the younger vampire.

"What? Ha, uh, no" Josh backed away slowly and started to ramble. "No, no, no... I'm not- I haven't-"

"Yes, you have" Marcel said firmly, "I already know it's true. I saw it with my own eyes. Now, Josh, If you don't want to be put into The Garden right now... you're gonna do a little spy work for me. So, what do you say?"

Jacqueline gave Josh a barely visible nod of encouragement.

What Marcel didn't know, was that he's too predictable for his own good. This big master plan Marcel had been working out for the past two days had been easy enough to guess. Jacqueline knew it would involve some of Josh's 'spy skills' since Marcel hadn't killed Josh or put him on vervain after finding out. So, she'd made sure Josh knew to go along with the double agent bullshit when Marcel eventually asked for it.

Predictable.

They were finally gonna take Marcel down. And they were going to use Marcels big plan to do it.

It was perfect.

Jacqueline couldn't help the way her lips twitched up at the mere thought of the ironic turn of events. Marcels plan only served to give them an even greater stage for the dramatic takeover plan.

"I, uh-" Josh nervously looked around the room at the trapped vampires. Giving a quick nod, Josh made a believable display of defeat. "Okay. Okay, whatever you need... I didn't even want to spy on you in the first place. The compulsion - I just can't not do it"

Marcel sighed almost sympathetically

He probably even believed the line Josh was feeding him.

Sure, Josh hadn't chosen all this spying and vampirism in the first place. However the young vampire had formed an odd sort of friendship with Klaus in the past few months. Not to mention Cami, Davina and Tyler spent a fair share of time hanging out with Josh. At this point the only thing the compulsion was doing for Josh was making sure he didn't let his worry or fear stop him from spying.

Josh wasn't Marcel's biggest fan in the first place.

When so many people failed to see past Marcels charming smile and friendly words - Josh saw the truth. Josh could see Marcel for the hypocrite he truly is and seemed to appreciate Klaus' honesty over Marcels deception. At least with Klaus, Josh knew where he stood. The two men had an odd sort of understanding that likely stemmed from Klaus' not worrying about his secrets being revealed by the young vampire.

Jacqueline chose not to question it.

She had realised Klaus did a lot of things that she didn't always understand. At this point, trying to figure them out was a hell of a headache.

"Good. Now what does Klaus want from you right now?" Marcel asked, redirecting the conversation to the task at hand.

"He wants me to steal back some daggers from you" Josh lied with surprising ease. "It's a test. I'm sure of it"

"Relax" Jaqueline huffed a little and sent a wry smile to both men. "If Klaus knew, he would have ripped your spine out through your nose by now" she waved a dismissive hand at them both.

Marcel scoffed with a small chuckle.

It was the truth though and they all knew it. That would be exactly what someone who betrays Klaus would get.

"Oh, great" Josh said sarcastically, "Now I feel totally at ease"

Marcel rested a hand on Josh's shoulder to quieten the man once again. "Listen, you'll be fine. Klaus is too cocky to see someone like you flipping on him"

"Someone like me?" Josh seemed to take a offense to the statement.

Not that Marcel noticed or cared.

"Go tell Klaus that you searched high and low for the daggers but you couldn't find it. Then you tell him you saw I had it on me. That if he wants it, he has to get it himself" Marcel explained firmly. "Which wont be easy because I'm paranoid and I've beefed up my posse"

"All right" Josh sighed

"Tell him you overheard me arguing with Diego. I'm gonna be clearing out the compound tonight for a date - tell him I'll be here, alone, with a date" Marcel ordered, "Now go"

Josh sighed and nodded before speeding out of 'The Garden' and off to relay the information to Klaus. Of course, Josh will be giving the cover story to Klaus but he won't have to bother trying to sell it like Marcel thinks. Once again though, this was another thing that Marcel didn't know about.

Tonight was going to be the night...

Jacqueline sat on the stairs with Marcel as everyone anxiously waited in their places for the 'take down' to begin. Jacqueline had already spoken to Klaus and they decided there was no need for the others to come along. It wasn't like a hundred vampires weren't something Klaus could easily take down on his own.

Jacqueline was the only one who was any real threat to Klaus.

They both knew she was on his side though... they're family now anyway. Jacqueline found she was glad that Klaus trusted her enough not to question whether she would follow through tonight or not.

Elijah certainly was proud.

"This is him" Marcel said quietly as his vampire hearing picked up on the doors opening and approaching footsteps.

Jacqueline had heard it herself, of course, but she hadn't told him about the new perks she has from being BloodBonded with Rebekah. That was something she had kept strictly within the family. In fact, even when New Orleans is in their control and she won't have to hide her relationship, she didn't plan on letting people know she's a Bloodwitch.

It would draw unwanted attention.

Especially from the local witches who hate and hunt Bloodwitches.

Klaus walked into the empty courtyard and looked around, pretending as if he didn't know he had just walked into a trap. They couldn't let up the façade yet if they wanted to take over successfully. Jacqueline had already planted her seeds of doubt in the other vampires minds. She had informed them that she thought Marcel was being hasty in this plan, that Marcel was sending them up against a man who couldn't die.

Marcel's new right hand wasn't supposed to doubt his decisions. Meaning that just a few confiding words of doubt was enough to have most of the vampires here jumpy.

Not that Marcel even noticed.

Jacqueline did though, and she had made herself out to be a comforting figure amongst the crew.

"Klaus" Marcel said ominously as he sped into the empty courtyard to stand opposite Klaus.

"You've been avoiding my calls" Klaus stated with a small smirk

"Little pissed off lately" Marcel shrugged

"Well, apologies for my behaviour can come later. You have something of mine and I want it back" Klaus said, as if he didn't already know that Elijah had sent all the daggers to a secret location.

"Sorry. No can do" Marcel said despite the fact Marcel knew he didn't have the daggers either. Instead, Marcel let out a piercing whistle and the courtyard was surrounded by vampires all promised daylight rings for their help. Marcel looked over his shoulder, making sure his specific instruction of Jacqueline standing at his side was followed.

Men.

Jacqueline stood at Marcel's side despite how annoyed she felt by being given the order. It certainly would make betraying him that bit more satisfying though. Her eyes met Klaus and she grinned a little in anticipation for a good fight that was to come.

It had been a while.

Klaus played the part of shocked well enough. "So this is it?" Klaus scoffed, "The evil bastard Klaus has gone too far? Must be punished. By his own friend nonetheless - how positively biblical. Is this your idea of a hit, Marcel? I taught you better than this paltry excuse for a takedown. You think you can subdue me with all this?" Klaus' voice was low and amused

He was telling the truth after all.

A hundred vampires was no match for Klaus Mikaelson, Original Hybrid.

"I think I can" Marcel cockily shrugged in response. Inadvertently causing the flickers of doubt Jacqueline had planted to grow in his vampires minds at the reply.

Fragile loyalty and bribes were the only things keeping these vampires on Marcels side right now. The careless and cocky reply from the one man here not going to engage in the fight wasn't instilling any confidence.

Klaus' confidence and amusement at the efforts didn't go unnoticed.

"Lets end this charade, shall we?" Klaus smirked before addressing the crowd. "Vampires - and witch - of New Orleans, do recall that I am an Original Hybrid. The only being to walk this planet that is truly immortal. You cannot kill me, you are no match for my strength even in this large number. I have faced larger army's and still stand. Recall that eternity is an awfully long time" Klaus warned

Klaus' words were filling many with dread.

Jacqueline's words of doubt and power were ringing in their ears throughout the speech.

"How long do you think Marcel will stay in power? What if one of you lot - were to release me. Knowing I would be eternally in your debt" Klaus furthered the doubt in their minds. "Oh, I would pity those of you who dared to cross me. I can assure you, your ends would be spectacular"

They certainly will be...

Jacqueline exchanged a look with Josh as they readied themselves for their own plan to come into motion. Of course, it was equally as dramatic though.

"To borrow a trick" Klaus grinned and produced a coin from his pocket. He held it in the air as he looked out in the crowd. "From an old friend... whoever comes and takes this coin, they get to live"

Jacqueline looked around the room in the silent pause that followed Klaus' offer. She could see more than a few who wanted to take it.

"Now, which of you magnificent bastards wants to join me?" Klaus laughed

"Anyone wants that coin. Anyone wants to pledge allegiance to Klaus" Jacqueline spoke up then, looking around at a few people with understanding and support on her face. "Take it" she implored

"What are you doing?" Marcel hissed and grabbed her arm, pulling her back to his side.

She let him.

Clearly he didn't even realise how much worse the move made him look to the others.

Josh who they planned to be the first to take the coin, unbeknownst to the others, stepped forward. Josh looked to Klaus and nodded, "I- I know we're not supposed to swap sides, but even I can see who's going to win this. I don't want to die for a leader who knowingly sends me to my death" Josh lied.

Though Jacqueline supposed there might have been some actual truth to Josh's words.

Josh, more than the others, knew just what Klaus was capable of doing. While Josh might have gotten to know some of the Mikaelson family during his time being compelled - Jacqueline was sure Josh was partly thinking about his own survival. If he truly thought Marcel could win this, then josh might have done this differently.

Jacqueline couldn't be pissed about that though.

It's survival.

That's something everyone here has to think about now, cause they weren't leaving alive if they sided with Marcel. Vampires loyal completely to Marcel weren't going to easily accept Klaus as leader... so the plan was to get rid of as many as possible. While also proving Klaus is the strongest leader and not someone to cross.

Dramatically... of course.

Jacqueline was beginning to think that the Mikaelson's didn't know how to make a subtle plan anymore.

Then again, where was the fun in subtle?

Klaus nodded at Josh easily, "You've chosen correctly. You're life will be spared"

Josh blew out a breath of relief - by doing this Josh had not only earnt himself a daylight ring, freedom from compulsion, but also his life. Josh would have a place with them once Klaus takes over New Orleans. The details had already been discussed beforehand of course.

"Anyone else?" Klaus asked idly as he looked around the room.

Jacqueline gave a look to Xavier and Diego, knowing quite a few would follow them if they stepped forward. They both returned her look with a hesitant one until she, herself, stepped forward. All eyes turned to her instantly and shocked whispers broke out amongst the crowd.

"Jacqueline" Marcel spat out

"You kept me at your side like a weapon to wield" Jacqueline stated with a shake of her head. "You expect us all to fight when you're not going to lift a finger. I don't want to die - not for you, Marcel. My loyalty demands loyalty in return... you've led your people to be slaughtered and I won't stand with you through it"

Klaus held out a hand for her to take.

Jacqueline suppressed the urge to roll her eyes as she took his hand. Though she was surprised by the gentleness of his hold and the small thankful squeeze he gave.

He really had been fighting to keep his nasty doubts at bay, hadn't he?

Jacqueline looked at him with a new appreciation for what it took for him to give her his trust. Klaus wasn't someone who trusted easily. He'd had 1000 years worth of reasons not to. Those things had damaged his mind to a point where his first reaction was paranoid doubt followed by violently lashing out. For Klaus to have trusted her - in the most vital moment - must have taken a lot.

Jacqueline was glad to prove her loyalty to him.

They're family.

She would never betray her family, not for anything or anyone. In fact, Jacqueline was here helping in this plot for her family. To bring safety to her niece, protection for Hayley and Davina, and justice for the Mikaelson siblings betrayal.

Klaus had thought he lost a child.

Jacqueline knew her pain from when Jeremy stopped calling her mom and she imagined Klaus felt that times ten. Especially when he found out the man he raised had betrayed him like this and continued to do so.

Jacqueline squeezed his hand back ever so slightly.

She had his back.

Once everyone saw that Jacqueline was serious as she faced Marcel again, their shock turned to action. Nearly 10 of the daywalkers stepped into the centre and nodded their heads to Klaus in acceptance of him. About 30 nightwalkers did the same - leaving Marcel's numbers halved. It was less than Jacqueline thought would follow - however the allure of a day light ring had many willing to take a risk. They'd waited hundreds of years for the chance, after all.

She couldn't fault them for that.

They have enough people on side to begin to form a new regime of rule over New Orleans anyway. Especially after Klaus brings in the rest of his Hybrids nobody outside the family knows still exist.

"Okay..." Marcel sighed as he looked to the people who remained with him still.

"Lets' do this, shall we?" Klaus smiled slightly before looking at everyone gathered in the centre. "A leader who hides behind his men is no real leader. I can fight a battle better than anyone - you're all about to witness what happens to those who oppose us"

Jacqueline stepped to the side of the room, encouraging the others to get out of the way before all hell broke loose.

"Take him" Marcel ordered

The first vampire who sped at Klaus had his heart ripped from his chest before he could lay a finger on the Hybrid. The other vampires who followed met similar fates. A few heads were thrown from bodies, hearts squelching as they landed off to the side, necks being snapped left and right.

Klaus grinned at Marcel and held his hands out at his side tauntingly.

Of course Klaus already knew about the vampires with chains though. Klaus just wanted to show off a little bit of his Hybrid side.

Dramatic bastard.

This time Jacqueline really did roll her eyes as she watched on from the sidelines.

The horde of vampires remaining charged Klaus. The chains being pulled to bring him to his knees - not that he really fought too hard. Klaus worse a grim grin on his face the whole damn time. When Klaus was brought to his knees, arms held at his sides in chains, the crowd gathered to watch all inched forward for a complete view of what was happening.

They all knew the plan.

They knew the chains were 'spelled' to nearly be impossible to break free from. And... when they had tested them out... that had been true. However, during the distraction of the fight, Jacqueline had relinquished the magic hold they didn't know she was capable of having.

So, there was more than a few gasps of shock, when Klaus' eyes glowed yellow and he crushed the chains into pieces.

The fight resuming instantly.

Vampires attacked with kicks and punches that Jacqueline's magic ensured would bounce right off of Klaus. She swore this fight - had it been filmed - would have been movie worthy. Jacqueline surely could have been turning out 6 figures for filming something like this. However, she savoured the moment as she used her magic to give it that little bit more of a flare.

Klaus looked pretty damn indestructible from where they were standing.

Marcel looked a little pale.

Especially when some vampire about twice Klaus' size walked over and threw a punch that would have knocked anyone else unconscious. However, Klaus only blinked a little before tearing the mans head clean off his shoulders. The head was thrown onto the floor... rolling all the way to Marcel's feat with a few other discarded hearts and limbs.

Jacqueline wrinkled her nose when she spotted an arm in the middle of the courtyard.

She wondered idly who it belonged to - knowing a vampire could survive having an arm ripped off. Though she didn't see any one armed vampires in the fight right now.

Numbers were diminishing by the second.

"ENOUGH!" Marcel yelled when there was only a handful of his vampires left.

Everyone paused.

Marcel snatched the coin from Josh's hand with a glare and turned to face Klaus. The humiliation clearly shinning in Marcel's eyes as he tried to redeemed himself from the disaster of a plan.

"Well, well, well" Klaus walked over to Marcel, looking idly around at the carnage. "The great Marcel, self proclaimed king of New Orleans, bowing before me?"

"There" Marcel threw the coin at Klaus' feet. "I herby pledge my allegiance to you. You have the keys to the kingdom. It's yours"

Jacqueline thought she saw tears in Marcels eyes.

It was great!

And maybe that was wrong of her to think, but she'd had to sit at his side and play good little witch for weeks now. So, she was allowed a little gratification at Marcels humiliation and defeat.

"Clean up what you've wrought" Klaus ordered looking once again at the carnage surrounding them.

"You're not going to kill me?" Marcel looked sceptical

Jacqueline wanted to know the same exact thing though. They had all been planning for Marcel's death tonight. She figured now, looking at Klaus, that he couldn't make himself go that far anymore. Jacqueline remembered when it had come to Elena that she'd not been able to go that far. Even though she'd wanted to, planned to, and deserved to.

Sometimes the past grips you in moments like these.

"You picked up the coin" Klaus said simply, "There are rules of engagement, Marcel. If there weren't, then we would have anarchy"

Klaus sparing Marcel seemed to shock everyone else a little bit more than it did Jacqueline. Though, she observed, it had a good effect in calming down peoples worry about Klaus being their new leader. Without meaning to Klaus had shown he could and would protect his kingdom as well as grant leniency to his followers.

She supposed it worked.

It made Klaus look more honest than he really is too..

They could work with that.
