"I'm so glad you're home, my girl." My Father's hand touched the side of my cheek.
I placed my hand on top of his, and closed my eyes.
"Being away from you was disheartening. Not knowing if you were safe, or what those bastards did with you." he clenched his hands into fists.
"I'm here now, Father." I took his hand in mine.
His features became smoother as he looked into my eyes.
"And I'm glad." he smiled wholeheartedly.
His eyes suddenly widened as an invisible force knocked him to the floor.
"Father!" I shrieked.
I took a step towards him, but a magnetic force pushed me away. My feet were swept out from under me as I was dragged away from him.
"Miya!"
His voice echoed in my ears as I quickly sat up. My body was achy, and a cold sweat was forming on my forehead. I threw my legs over the side of the bed I was laying in, and made my way over to the picturesque window. I pulled the curtains to the side, and glanced outside. The dull morning sun hung lazily in the sky.
There was a thick layer of fog over the U.A. grounds that made everything look damp. I looked down at the ground and saw a group of students smiling, and shoving each other in a joking manner. I momentarily found myself wanting the same form of companionship. Would anyone think of me as more than the daughter of a villian? A slight feeling of loneliness washed over me as I sat back down on the bed.
A light knock on the door shook me out of the stupor I had slipped into.
"It's open." I said.
Yaoyorozu walked in, and looked around the room.
"I forgot how empty the rooms were when we first moved in." she sighed.
She pulled her shirt up to expose her midriff, and used her Quirk to make a picture frame.
"It's not much, but it's a start." she smiled.
I looked at the picture, and gasped. It was beautiful. Different shades of blue, and purple made up a colorful sky, and four dark blue birds flew towards a fiery orange sun. My stomach sank in envy as I looked at them. They were free to fly as they pleased, and I was stuck, and alone.
"Thank you."
She smiled crookedly, and then suddenly seemed nervous.
"Principal Nezu asked that I escort you to Class 1-A this morning. You'll be needing this."
Yaoyorozu handed me a package, and I tipped it out on the bed. A gray blazer, white undershirt, and green skirt toppled out in a crumpled heap.
"I am not wearing this." I objected.
She sighed.
"He had a feeling you would argue about the uniform so he told me to give this to you as well."
She held a folded up slip of paper in between her pointer and middle finger.
Wear the uniform, and the device will be removed.
-Principal Nezu
I sighed, and asked Yaoyorozu for privacy as I changed. Disappoint lingered in the pit of my stomach as I slipped into the uniform. Nezu knew how badly I wanted the device to disappear, and he used it to his advantage. I cursed him silently under my breath.
"You look great!" Yaoyorozu exclaimed as I opened the door to my room.
I smiled weakly as I smoothed out the creases of the skirt.
"We better get going. Mr. Aizawa gets temperamental if we're late for his class."
We walked rather hurriedly to the big glass building I was brought to when I first arrived. By the time we reached the front door we were nearly sprinting.
"Hey, Yaoyorozu! Wait up!"
Yaoyorozu skidded to a halt, and spun around. Our floormate Ochako Uraraka was waving at us from a distance.
"Hurry, Uraraka! Mr. Aizawa is going to be angry if we're late for class."
Uraraka hurried her steps until she was nearly shoulder to shoulder with me. She smiled shyly, and put some distance between us.
"Asui isn't walking with you today?" Yaoyorozu asked, looking to the left, and then to the right.
Uraraka stopped walking. Her pink cheeks darkened in embarrassment, and her brown eyes grew wide.
"Oh no!"
She turned on the spot, and held her breath. The doors swung open, and a girl with long green hair, and bulging eyes stood in the entrance. Her long tongue poked out between her lips, and she kept her front arms folded in front of her.
"Asui, I-" Uraraka started.
The odd girl walked over to our group, and smiled.
"I forgive you, Uraraka. We all know how Aizawa gets if we're late for class, ribbit."
My stomach knotted as I felt a twinge of nervousness. What the hell was going to happen if we were late for class? The girls continued talking amongst themselves as we walked. Laughing about random happenings, and expressing their nervousness about upcoming exams. We stopped in front of a large classroom, and I heard the low buzz of voices inside.
"Miya?" Yaoyorozu looked back at me.
My legs froze. What if they all saw me for what I really was? The daughter of a villian.
"Hey. It's okay."
She gently laid her hand on my arm, and smiled warmly. I followed her into the classroom, and then gasped audibly. There in the second row, talking loudly, and smiling, was the golden haired boy, Kaminari I had seen yesterday. The red haired boy he was talking to nudged him, and motioned in my direction. Kaminari froze when he noticed me.
He kept his golden eyes on me as I followed Yaoyorozu to the back of the room. I waved at him, and he blushed as he waved back.
"You can sit back here for today." she smiled.
The boy sitting to her right shifted in his seat, and smiled at her. Her cheeks turned a dull shade of pink as she smiled back at him.
"Who's your friend, Yaoyorozu?"
I immediately understood why her face flushed as soon as he laid eyes on me. He was extremely handsome regardless of the burn scar on the left side of his face.
"I'm Miya Suzume." my voice trembled as I spoke.
Confusion flashed over his otherwise serious face.
"So, you're his daughter?"
My heart twinged in my chest. He continued to look forward as I looked at the floor.
"I'm Shoto Todoroki. Welcome to Class 1-A."
