THE VAMPIRE DIARIES SEASON 2 EPISODE 1
SO...HERES THE THING:
Lola was tired. She didn't get much sleep since she worked insane work hours but when she did she cherished it like a newborn baby.
A majority of the time she thought about quitting the restaurant she worked at 'Tiana's Place' but when she remembered that her job was the only thing paying the bills the thought left her head. Her shift from yesterday ran from 9:00 a.m. to 10 p.m. and she had another shift the next day.
Not to mention that when she wasn't at work she was taking care of Bonnie. She was driving Bonnie to school, packing her lunch, making breakfast and dinner everyday and paying every single bill.
Their mother had ran off years ago and their dad was never home and though he had a job he never send money home so it was up to Lola to deal with the stress of paying every little bill.
She felt like a 30 year old trapped in a 22 year olds body.
So you could imagine she wanted as much time to sleep as possible. And you could also imagine her annoyance when her little sister bursted into her room at 6 a.m. in the morning.
"Lola!" Bonnie practically screeched, the throwing the door open. Her eyes were wild and her hair was a mess that resembled a Lion's mane. Her cell phone was clutched in her hand like her life depended on it.
Lola groggily looked up from her pillow, her wild curls fell across her face because her satin bonnet had fell off in her sleep. "Bonnie, it's," she glanced at her alarm clock and groaned, "6 a.m. for fucks sake. Someone better be fucking dying because—"
"Someone is dying!" Bonnie said frantically.
Lola sat up and rubbed her eyes with the back of her hand, "What?" She yawned, "Bonnie-baby, what are you talking about?"
"I-It's Caroline," Bonnie said nearly on the verge of tears, "she was in a car accident and it's bad, Lola. Like really, really bad I-I have to be there for her I can't—"
"Okay," Lola sighed, throwing the cover off. She wasn't the biggest fan of Bonnie's friends mainly because she felt they took advantage of Bonnie's kindness most of the time but she wasn't going to be unsupportive. "Let me brush my teeth and put some shoes on. I'll drop you off," she said tiredly.
Bonnie didn't mutter another word and rushed out the room and hightailed towards Lola's beat down car.
"The things I do for that girl," Lola muttered.
IT TURNS OUT SHOWING UP TO THE A HOSPITAL IN HELLO KITTY PAJAMAS WASN'T THE SMARTEST IDEA.
But how ridiculous she looked was the last thing on Lola's mind.
As she stood there in front of the vending machine in pink pajamas bottoms, a oversized white shirt with hello kitty on the front and a pair of pink slippers and her hair was a curly a mess Lola regretted coming inside the hospital instead of just dropping Bonnie of as she got weird stares.
But hey, she was hungry.
Lola tried to not pay any them any mind, they needed to mind their own damn business anyway. Didn't people know that minding your own business gave you clear skin?
Bonnie was off with Matt to check on Caroline while they waited for Elena to arrive with some guy named Stefan.
She didn't know who Stefan was because unlike her little sister Lola wasn't close to Elena mainly because Lola was older and didn't care about whatever relationship drama Bonnie's friends had going on.
She had better shit to worry about than Elena's relationship drama no matter how much Bonnie ranted to Lola during their girl-nights.
She fumbled around in her purse trying to find a couple bucks for the vending machine. "Are you serious," Lola mumbled in frustration as she gave up on looking in her purse, "I'm so broke I can't even afford vending machine food," she muttered, wiping her face with her hand. "Fuck me..."
She tried to remember what she spent the last of her money before she remembered she spent it on these pair of heels Bonnie desperately wanted to wear to her homecoming dance.
The things I do for that girl...
At this point Lola was started to wonder if she could start charging at least one of her parents for child support because money was only getting tighter as time went on in the Bennet Household.
I may need to get third job...fuck
Lola groaned loudly before kicking the machine.
Bad idea.
Lola hissed, "Ow! motherfucker," she swore loudly cradling her aching foot as she stood on one foot. "You fucking cunt! Jesus—Son of a—"
"Excuse me, Miss?" She heard a deep voice coming from behind her.
Lola sighed and started to turn around, "Shit, sorry I just—bleh!" Her words stumbled as she took in the sight of the man behind her. Her eyes became wide and her face turned red.
Lola wasn't used to being around attractive men. She spent most of her time working, sleeping or taking care of Bonnie so she didn't have much time for finding people attractive.
She didn't do well around attractive people, they made her flustered.
Lola became tongue-tied.
No matter how many times she tried whenever she saw someone she thought was gorgeous she became tongue-tied. It was probably because she had only been with one person romantically in her entire life to her ex-boyfriend Mason Lockwood.
And the man behind her was probably the most attractive man she had ever seen.
He was handsome and tall with hair the color of charcoal and hazel brown eyes. His face was angular with high cheekbones, a straight nose and strong jawline. Surprisingly he was a very expensive suit that had to be made by some rich clothes designer. He stood behind her with one hand in his pocket with a raised eyebrow.
"Miss," the man said again, "Do you not have money for the machine?"
He spoke with a bit of an accent and every word he spoke was oddly formal.
Lola scratched her head, "Uh, n-no, I don't sorry I didn't mean to hold you up," she said looking anywhere but this man's face.
Out of all the days she had to be out in public looking a mess it just had to be a day where she would met a hot guy.
The man didn't seemed bothered in fact he seemed...amused. He reached in his pocket, pulled out a wallet that looked so expensive it could've payed Lola's rent and pulled out a couple bills and held them out to her.
"For you," he told her calmly like he was talking about the weather and not giving her what looked like at least 50 bucks in cash.
Maybe some people were too prideful to take money when they were broke but Lola was not one of those people. Who in their right mind would say no to free money?
Lola blinked before taking the cash, "Uh, thanks, I guess."
The man nodded, "Have a good morning, Miss," he told her before walking away.
Who just gave someone money out of no where? Lola watched as the weird man walked away and swore under her breath.
Well there goes my potential sugar-daddy..
ROSE-MARIE SWALLOWED AS SHE STARED AT THE MAN SITTING ACROSS FROM HER.
Elijah Mikaelson was very intimating man.
He stared at her blankly with cold intimating eyes. His hands were properly folded over each other on their dinner table and he sat with his back perfectly straight and his lips formed into a firm line. Every once in a while he would glance at her neck as if he was trying to decide to end her life of not.
This was a bad idea.
Trevor had tried to warn her against the idea, he told her that they should keep running from Klaus and Elijah. That running was better than dealing with the wrath of the Mikaelson brothers.
But Rose disagreed. She was tired of running she wanted to finally live.
But as Elijah stared at her with those cold calm eyes all she felt was regret.
Rose had a strong feeling that the only reason Elijah hasn't attempted to kill her was because they were in a very public and populated restaurant called 'Tiana's Place'.
Tiana's place was a average sized dinner filled with bright lights and green wallpaper and a jazz band consistently playing on a front stage dressed in Jazz flapper costumes inspired by 1920s jazz.
Rose chose the restaurant because she was hoping that if Elijah did want to kill her he would at least restrain himself until they left.
"You are very...courageous for contacting me," Elijah said speaking for the first time making Rose flinch. "You have," he checked his watch, "five minutes before I decided whether it would be best to kill you or not. I am a busy man, Rose-Marie."
Rose swallowed, "I want my freedom," she told him, "I'm tired of running if I can give you something in exchange...can you grant me and Trevor our freedom?"
Elijah paused, "I do have complete authority on the topic of sparing your life," he said, "you and what's your little pet's name again? Ah, Trevor. But why would I want to?"
Rose opened her mouth to reply only to be interrupted by their waitress.
"I'm Lola, I'll be your server for the night. Can I start you off with drinks?" Their waitress asked with a strained smile.
Their waitress was a pretty woman, Rose supposed.
She had brown skin with a thick lion mane of curly hair that resembled the color of coffee that was slicked back into the world's tightest ponytail. Her eyes were a vibrant green and she had high cheek bones with a single dimple on one side of her face. She had a septum nose ring and wore shiny clear lip gloss.
"No," Rose said harshly her nerves getting to her, "You can leave."
The waitress named Lola's eyes narrowed and her eyebrow twitched.
Elijah narrowed his eyes at Rose's unnecessary rudeness, "A glass of water please."
Lola pursed her lips, "Coming right up," she mumbled before quickly walking away.
Elijah turned his gaze back to Rose, "As you were saying?"
"Katerina Petrova," Rose said quickly.
Elijah raised a brow seeming interested, "I'm listening."
"S-She never burned in the church during 1865," she paused. "She survived, I can get you her doppelgänger."
"Her family line ended with her," he replied calmly. "Niklaus made certain of that."
Rose shook her head, "No, her doppelgänger is real, I swear it."
He eyed her coldly, "Do you have her in your possession?" Elijah asked.
Rose shook her head, "No, But I can get her doppelgänger, I promise you. However..."
Elijah raised a brow, "However?"
Rose took a deep breath, "Elijah, you are a man of honor, I feel I can trust you. I want your word."
Elijah narrowed his eyes, "I give you my word I will pardon you."
LOLA HATED BEING A WAITRESS.
The customers were rude, her manager was an ass and she had already had three guys attempt slap her ass as she walked away after taking their owner.
This is for Bonnie, she reminded herself.
She leaned her head against the bar and rubbed her forehead.
Working at 'Tiana's Place' wasn't terrible but being a waitress was definitely not worth the paycheck.
"Enough mopping," Carly said rolling her eyes as she came to stand next to her.
"I'm not moping," Lola muttered, "I'm just tired and fuck my back hurts, my age must be catching up to me."
"You're twenty-two," Carly said flatly.
"And I still have back problems," Lola replied, "I'm just tired I need a fucking break—"
"No, what you need is to get laid," Carly told her, "When was the last time you had sex with someone other than me?"
Lola groaned, "We hook up one time when we're drunk and you still mention it," she muttered her face slowly turning red.
Carly shrugged, "It's not my fault your good in bed."
"Oh my god," Lola murmured, her face bright red. "Thanks I guess."
After a very long night of drinking two years ago Lola and Carly hooked up. It wasn't anything romantic they were just friends and it just happened. It wasn't either of their first times with woman since Carly was a lesbian and Lola was bisexual but it still made Lola cringe every time she thought about it.
"But seriously," Carly said, "How long?"
Lola paused, "About...a year and a half ago," she said. "It wasn't good either, he had no idea what he was doing. It was like having sex with a jackrabbit."
Carly shook her head looking like a disappointed mouth, "A year?" She whispered and disbelief, "That's it we're getting you some action tonight. We can go to the bar after work. Bonnie's spending the night at one of her little friends right?"
"Yeah," Lola replied, "but I don't have money for drinking, I spent the last of my cash on Bonnie."
Carly rolled her eyes, "Who said you had to pay, it's on me."
"I don't know," Lola frowned, "What if Bonnie needs something and—"
"She'll be fine," Carly insisted, "You give up everything for that girl. You can take a night off."
Lola rolled her eyes, "Alright, fine."
"WHAT ABOUT HIM?" Carly asked, sipping on her tequila shot as she pointed to a guy playing pool at Mystic Falls Grill.
Lola followed her gaze and shook her head, "Too old," she replied, picking up her shot and downing it. She hissed.
Carly's dark eyes scanned the crowd, "What about her?"
Lola tilted her head.
The woman Carly was pointed too seemed oddly familiar. She was young, maybe a few years older than Lola, and pale with long blonde hair. She looked and smiled at some middle aged man with brown hair and that was when Lola knew she had seen her before.
Lola shook her head, "Fuck, no," she told Carly, "That's one of Bonnie's friends Aunt, I think her name is Jenny or something?"
Carly hummed, "Well, whoever she is she's hot," she said shrugging. She looked over in the crowd again before she saw someone and smirked, "Okay, how about him?"
Lola turned around and found a guy sitting at the end of the bar seemingly slowly taking sips of whiskey in silence.
Lola's face felt hot.
But it wasn't just some guy it was the same guy who gave her money this morning. He looked the same: calm, poised and discreet as he read and old looking history book. If he noticed their staring he didn't give any clues he noticed.
"He's hot," Carly told her, downing another shot, "in like a hot company CEO or Fifty Shades Of Grey type of hot. Do you think he has a sex dungeon in his basement?"
The man seemed to notice their staring and quickly glanced at them before looking away.
Lola shrunk into her seat, "Oh my god. No, no, no..." she muttered. "I'm not mentally stable enough for this."
"You should go over there," Carly said, her eyebrows raised, "He's hot, you're hot. It's a match made in heaven."
"Absolutely not."
"But you admit he's got right?"
Lola's face felt hot as she eyed his jawline. "Yeah, I guess but I'm not—"
Carly sighed, "Guess we're doing this the hard way," she muttered, standing up and grabbing Lola's arm.
"What?"
Carly shoved Lola in the man's direction sending her stumbling into the seat next to him before quickly walking away to the other side of the bar.
Lola glared at her from her new place farther down the bar, "That fucking bitch," she muttered, "what the—"
"I beg you pardon?"
Lola whirled around to see the man staring at her with an eyebrow raised.
"Nothing!" Lola blurted out, "My best-friend—she just—she just trying to get me to have sex—with you! Ah!" She groaned wiping sweat off her face, "Fuck me! I mean not—literally fuck me—I mean figuratively l-like slang. Unless you want too I mean...I..."she sighed, "I'm a hot mess no—I'm Lola," she said weakly, slamming her head on the bar. "And I'm gonna start talking now."
Kill me someone just take a knife and kill me!
"Sorry for bothering you," Lola said not bringing her head up from the bar, "I'm gonna just...go." She stood up making a very clear point
"Elijah."
She turned back to him, "Huh?"
The man raised his eyebrows and still seemed calm despite her embarrassing rambling, "My name is Elijah," he told her.
Lola blinked, "Uh, I'm Lola like Lola-Bunny," she said awkwardly. She silent cursed herself.
Was it really necessary for her to compare her name to a fictional rabbit?
"Yes, I know," he said, "You mentioned it in your...rambling."
Lola winced, "Yeah...sorry."
His lip twitched, "It is quite all right," he told her.
"Thanks by the way," Lola said, "For the money...I saw you earlier at the hospital. I was the crazy chick kicking the vending machine."
Elijah nodded, "Ah, yes. You are...interesting."
Lola didn't know if he was throwing shade or trying to compliment her so she just ignored it.
"Why did you give me money?" Lola asked tilting her head, "I mean, I appreciate it but..."
Elijah shook his head, "It was just me being generous," he told her, "There was not an alternative motive behind it."
Lola looked around the bar before catching Carly's eyes again. Carly was watching them intensely as she took more and more shots. When she caught Lola's eyes she mouthed 'Go For It!'
Knowing that Carly wouldn't leave her alone until she asked him Lola swallowed, "Uh...do you...do you want to get out of here?" She asked silently cursing the day Carly was born. "I wasn't lying when I said I wanted to..." she trailed off her face turning red, "asking you to come home with...me."
Elijah blinked, "Oh," he muttered eyeing her, "Well that is..."
Never feeling more embarrassed in her life Lola stood, "Yeah, sorry for bothering you. You must think I'm completely—I-I'm gonna just...go die in a ditch somewhere," she muttered.
Elijah stood and closed his book, "Shall we?" He held out his hand.
Lola frowned, "What?"
"You said you would like for me to accompany you home," Elijah said raising a brow, he continued to hold out his hand, "Shall we?"
Why does he speak like an old British man?
"I-I," Lola blinked and took his hand, "O-Okay."
As he guided her out of the bar Lola looked back only to see Carly beaming at as she mouthed 'Get some!'.

This chapter was bad I'm sorry. It usually takes a couple chapters for me to get used to writing a story.
