"Test number four has regrettably failed as well, sir."

My Father's angry eyes searched my face as beads of sweat made their way down my forehead. The unshed tears burned my eyes as they threatened to roll down my cheeks.

"What are you fighting for?"

For a split second his eyes seemed sincere, almost sympathetic as he looked at me.

"For my freedom."

His lips turned up into an evil, twisted smile, and he placed his hand on my cheek.

"My sweet daughter. That is something you won't be seeing for a long, long time."

I silently fought the urge to spit in his face as I stared into his eyes. They seemed to be void of any emotion. It was almost equivalent to looking in a black hole. His grip became tightened on my cheek, and I winced.

"Soon you'll have no choice but to obey me."

I turned my head in a way that allowed me to be freed from his grip.

"I will never obey you."

His jawline tightened, and his eyes narrowed.

"You're delusional if you think that halfwit, joke of a Number One Hero gives a shit about you, Miya. You're my blood, my family. I care about you more than that societal reject ever could. I love-"

"Don't."

He took a step back, and examined my face.

"How dare you have the audacity to tell me that you love me after everything you've ever told me is a fucking lie."

He became withdrawn, and silent as a pained expression crossed over his face.

"Your Mother would-"

"My Mother is," my throat tightened, "dead."

"Because of the one person you hold higher than your own Father. All Might took her away from you, from us, and you dare defend such trash."

My tethered hands began to shake with rage as a sinister grin grew over my Father's lips.

"All Might has shown me more care and compassion than you ever have, Father."

My tongue burned from the bitterness behind my words. My Father snarled in a sick, animalistic way. The sound gurgled in the depths of his throat, and reverberated against the walls of the room. His fingers tightened, and formed into a fist as a pained expression crossed his face.

"If you only knew the pain that absolute plague has caused me you'd look down on him like the rest of society secretly does. Instead here you are, my own daughter, standing up for the one person who took everything from me. He took everything from us, Miya."

I fought back every urge to scream. Every instinct in my body was telling me to fight back against him, yet I stayed silent as he glared at me. His chest was heaving with every heavy, anguished breath he took.

"Nothing you say will make me stand against All Might, Father. You're wrong about him. You always have been, and you always will be."

With this my Father threw his head back, and unleashed a terrifying, stomach churning noise that sounded almost otherworldly. His body shuddered, and he squeezed his eyes closed in a desperate attempt to calm himself.

"Father?" I whispered.

His eyes popped open, and narrowed as he looked at me.

"Don't you call me that, you disrespectful little bitch."

"Father, I-"

He took a step towards me, his giant body still slightly trembling as he lifted his hand. He brought it down against the side of my face, and it felt as if someone had stuck a red hot poker into my cheek.

"Get her out of my sight." he demanded.

"But sir-"

"Now!"

The man in the lab coat walked begrudgingly to my side, and undid the shackles that bound my wrists together. His eyes seemed almost dejected as he kept them on me. His icy hand coiled around my wrist as he led me down a narrow hallway towards the room I'd be imprisoned in yet again. He cleared his throat as we rounded a corner, and kept his sunken eyes away from me.

"I must apologize for the rash behavior of your Father."

My breath caught in my throat.

"What do you-"

"I didn't foresee him striking you. I must take partial responsibility for his actions."

I couldn't help but laugh, and he flashed me a look of concern.

"You find this humorous?"

I shrugged.

"You're apologizing for someone else's actions. Yeah, it's a little laughable."

It seemed as if he were struggling to understand my words.

"I could have prevented it."

I shook my head.

"No, you couldn't have."

He remained silent as our footsteps echoed off of the walls. His eyes stayed forward, but every so often he'd sneak a glance or two at me.

"You're not like him." he muttered.

"Well, that's a relief."

His lips turned upwards, and he turned his head away as if he were trying to mask the fact that he was smiling.

"You're kind. You have a decent heart. His is tainted, and fueled by hatred. He's become unrecognizable as of late. I fear he's losing himself."

I looked over at him, and his eyes were averted.

"As of late?" I echoed.

He nodded slowly.

"Your Father's desperation to seek you is what drew me to him. But," he paused to draw in a breath, "since locating you his intentions have changed."

I rolled my eyes.

"Gee, imagine that. A villain showing his true colors due to his own selfish reasons."

He sighed sadly.

"I should have never offered my assistance had I known-"

His voice trailed off as his demeanor became somber.

"Why did you?"

The words skimmed passed my lips before I had a chance to stop them. His sullen eyes became wide, and seemed to remenice a dark portion of his past.

"Society turned its back on me many years ago. I suppose in retaliation this is the career path I chose."

I smirked.

"Villainy. Way to stick it to the man."

He recoiled almost as he had been struck by an invisible force, and then his face hardened.

"You're the offspring of a villain. Why do you have such faith in Heroes?"

"I didn't always have faith in them. As a matter of fact, I hated them as much as my Father. Then I spent time around them and-"

"You learned to love them despite them being your enemy."

I looked over at him. His sunken face was almost bright, cheery, and full of life. It made my heart ache.

"How exactly did you-"

"That, my dear, is a story for another day."

He opened his hand, and motioned to the room I'd become far too familiar with.

"Miya."

His voice croaked as he spoke, and came out just above a whisper. He kept his eyes on the floor as he spoke, and his hands trembled slightly.

"Don't stop fighting. I've seen inside your mind as well as your heart. You're good, and pure. The world needs more Heroes like you."

He directed me into the room, and closed the door as soon as I entered.

"Miya!"

Scout trotted to my side excitedly, and wrapped her arm around my shoulder. Her bright blue eyes were lessened in color, and my stomach knot tied itself tighter than normal.

"You were using your Quirk."

She nodded quickly. So much so that her large glasses began sliding down her thin nose. She pushed them back up to her eyes with her middle finger, and she smiled widely.

"I had a good reason to."

"And what would that reason be?"

She stumbled as she released my shoulder, and I grabbed her elbow before she toppled over.

"Whoever was scouting the area the other night came back."

My heart flipped in my chest.

"Wha-"

"Not only did they come back. They brought a whole army, baby. I'm talking ten, maybe eleven people at the maximum."

My chest tightened as a light, excited feeling came over me.

"When?" I managed to choke out.

"About an hour ago. Five of them took off, but six of them are still sticking around. Do you think they're recruiting more help?"

I shrugged.

"It's a pretty big possibility."

She squealed with excitement, and wrapped her arms around my shoulders tightly.

"We're going to get out of here. It's happening. They're going to rescue us."

It was admittedly hard to contain my own excitement as I silently wondered what Heroes were out there. My heart leapt wildly in my chest as I thought of Kaminari. There was a very, very large chance that I was going to see him, and from the sounds of it quite soon.

Heyooooo everybody! I'm so so sorry for the delay in updates. I ended up getting really sick, and just lost all motivation to write as much as I hate to admit it. I just recently found the motivation again so I'm hoping to start updating weekly again!
