It was finally Halloween; Eri made Jack-o-Lanterns with Kurama and Botan in the kitchen to celebrate this holiday. She has never experienced the chills of the horror of this time of the year, especially when she is in the past timeline era with her new friends to be a part of this time.

"Just a little bit more until it's all done." Botan chimed.

Botan was helping the little girl carve out the eye in the pumpkin very carefully because she did not want the girl to be in any mental injury. Due to any unsafe damage for a child to carve out a pumpkin on her own, leaving any bruise or mark on her, Hiei will surely pay her back for hurting her.

"All done!"

Eri smiled at the pumpkin she made as Kurama placed a candle inside to light it up. "There you go. Now we can set it outside of the temple." He went to put the last jack-o-lantern outside of the temple, which was indeed Genkai's. The gang was celebrating Halloween at her temple and possibly took Eri out for trick-or-treating.

Eri was washing her hands over by the sink when she heard Yukina entering the room, "Hello Eri, how are you doing at this time of the year?" She asked.

"I'm doing great! I-I'm excited about going out to trick-or-treat." She beamed.

"That's great. Who's taking you?" She asked.

"It's suppose to be Yusuke, Hiei, Kuwabara, and Kurama." She replied.

Yukina faintly smiled, "Well, that is enough time for us to set up our own Halloween party." She giggled.

"What are you going to dress up as, Yukina?" She asked.

Yukina smiled, "I'm dressing up as a snow angel." She replied.

"I'm dressing up to be a red riding hood," Eri replied.

"I can't wait to see your costume."

Yusuke and Kuwabara arrive at the temple, and Hiei was tagging along by their side, not until a few minutes after cleaning up the kitchen. They have just gotten back from doing a little shopping spree of buying Halloween costumes, some decorations, and candy too.

"Well, it's about time you boys have showed up," Botan said.

"Relax, we weren't out too long. We had to go pick up a few things on the way back." Yusuke replied.

As Eri peeked around the corner to see her friends setting down the bags, she walked over to them with a smile on her face. Kuwabara was the first to greet the young child to see her there, "Hey Eri! Look what we've brought from the store. We have a ton of candy, decorations, and even costumes." He chimed. He turned to dig out of the bag to pull out a red and white costume in a plastic bag.

"Here, I even got you the costume you wanted." He handed it over to her as she smiled, taking it from him.

"Thank you!" She beamed.

"Are you excited about going trick-or-treating? Just to let you know that this time of the year can be pretty scary." Yusuke playfully grinned.

Keiko came over to jab him playfully, "Don't scare her with your warning, Yusuke." She glared as Yusuke smirked.

"Well, I just want to assure you that there is nothing scary about Halloween while we're out." He said.

Eri watched him walk past her with Keiko following after him as she looked back at her costume, thinking about what he said. Of course, Eri knew that Halloween was supposed to be the time of year for everyone to get spooky and scared just for fun. She had never experienced that type of fun in her life, and it was the first time to gotten involved in it. Hiei looked over at Eri, noticing that she was profoundly thinking about hearing the detective's shivering words to scare her a little.

"Don't listen to him." He spoke up. Eri turned her head, glancing to her brother, "He's only bluffing about how these humans get scared for something that is just in their imagination. If something were to spook you, I would step in to protect them from you." Those words were truthful for Eri to relax a little more and not worry about anything scary popping in front of her.

"I'll be okay. It's my first time celebrating it." She faintly smiled up at him as he ruffled her head.

"You're dressing up in your costume, right?" He asked.

She nodded. "Yeah. Are you dressing up too?" She asked.

"Hiei, you need to pick something to wear for Halloween to celebrate it. Don't you want to make Eri happy?" Yusuke scolded the demon, trying to get him to pick out a costume at the store earlier.

"I don't want to be a part of this silly year you humans celebrate. Whatever you all do is just a waste for once a year lifetime." He protested.

Yusuke sighed, "Well, it may be silly. But you do know that this is Eri's first Halloween to celebrate it? She never got a chance to experience it, and she's excited!" He gave the demon a stern glare. "So, quit pouting and standing around. Pick out a damn costume!" He shouted.

"I did pick out my costume, yes." He replied.

"What is it?" She asked.

"It's a surprise."

Eri stared up into his red eyes, asking, "Is this your first Halloween too?" She asked.

He merely nodded. "I'm not familiar with the holidays especially celebrating it with humans." He commented. "This is our first Halloween together, plus I want to make you happy." Eri does smile up at him, earning a smile back.

Several minutes later, the boys would take Eri out for trick or treating just for a fun experience. Yusuke dressed up as a wizard, Kuwabara was Frankenstein, Kurama was a vampire, and Hiei was dressed as a mummy figure with the bandages wrapped around his chest part and arms. Eri was already in her costume, dressing up as a little red riding hood. Yusuke and Kuwabara were debating about how much candy they had after visiting each house. Eri talked with Hiei and Kurama about the next one they would see, then call it a night heading back to the temple. After visiting the last house, they headed back to continue the Halloween party decorated nicely that the girls finished putting up.

"Eri, I got something for you." Hiei came over to the little girl crouching down at her level, pulling out a candy apple. "I figure that ferry girl wouldn't forget to make you a treat, so I got one for you." He handed over the candy apple for Eri as she took it, thanking her brother.

"Thank you!" She chimed.

"Now, Eri, after the party ends, please brush your teeth. We don't want you to have any cavities, dear." Botan said.

Eri nodded. She began to lick on the candy apple in delight to enjoy her first Halloween with her friends happily.

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!
