eyoooo here you go, your dreams have come true

Saw John Mulaney in person, front row seats! it was a great show!

"I don't know how you think you're going to talk to her so easily," Gray said, tossing a pizza crust into the box open on the floor. "Lucy's heartbroken, Natsu."

"Heartbroken? I told her that I was just busy... didn't that work?" The dragon paused as he looked over to his friends, taking slow bites as they both raised a judgemental brow at him.

"You're kidding, right? Imagine if I brushed Levy off like that; I'd already be dead." Gajeel shook his head, taking a drink from his cup of soda. "You ignored bunny girl for two weeks straight without even looking at her. Bull if she's gonna give you the time of day. You don't deserve it."

"It's Luce we're talking about here," Natsu rolled his eyes, feeling a bit of dread begin to stir in his stomach. "She's always understanding with me."

"Is that what you were relying on this whole time?" Gray shook his head with a sigh. "I don't think you realize how deep the shit you got yourself in is. Were you even thinking about how Lucy felt this entire time?"

"Hypocrite much? You don't even think about how Juvia feels about you."

"Keep it calm, I don't have the energy to deal with you brats," Gajeel grumbled as he extended his metal arm to keep them apart. "Neither of you think about how they feel, but Natsu's the one reaping what he sowed right now. You're fucked, Salamander."

"Luce would run to me if I asked, without a second thought." He grumbled, crossing his arms as he sat down. She always would…

"You're gonna have to stick with us for a while. Gramps would throw a fit if I left you alone," Laxus sighed as he helped Lucy to her feet, frowning at her swollen eyes. "Who's the dipstick that left you alone?"

"Natsu...Dragneel? Do you know him?" She sniffled, patting the dirt off her skirt.

"We've had that kid on our radar, but Erza promised that she'll keep him in line," Bickslow said as he scratched his chin, thinking back on the pinkette. "Gives us more time to focus on what we need to get done if the student council steps in."

"Don't bother giving that little shit the time of day till he learns his lesson," Laxus warned as he threw his arm around Lucy's shoulders. "I'll look after you till you're all better."

"This is Evergreen, Freed, and Bickslow. My Raijinshuu and the members of the disciplinary committee. I'm Laxus Dreyar, your new escort."

"This is a bit sudden," Lucy almost laughed, slightly baffled as they started walking back into the school. "Is this what the disciplinary committee usually does?"

"We're disciplining that dragon for leavin' you alone," Laxus snickered. "He's gonna throw a huge fit; it'll be hilarious."

"Let's take her out! We're visiting Hisui anyway; why not ditch and go see her early?" Evergreen suggested, clapping her hands together.

"Yeah, sure, why not? You got your phone?"

"It's in my bag," Lucy shook her head. "Should I go grab it?"

"Nah, I'll let gramps know to have someone bring it home for you. Take some time to rest in the car; it'll be good for ya to close your eyes."

"S-Sure," Lucy nodded, blushing slightly as she willingly went along with them. "Thank you."

"Our pleasure! It's a third year's job to take care of kohai, y'know?" Bickslow cackled, racing Freed to the front of campus.

Lucy smiled to herself, not incredibly excited to miss class without a reason, but her anxiety was finally gone. She used to feel like she was spiraling, an amalgamation of anxious thoughts and insecurities picking at her brain until she had to scream it all out. She would have to ask Laxus more about pheromones, unsure of what exactly they were. It wasn't as if she were attracted to him now, simply feeling like her usual self.

She still felt worried and sad over Natsu, but nowhere near the degree she experienced moments ago. Maybe she would have done anything, said anything to get the dragon to give her the time of day, but not anymore. Her head was clear enough now to recognize that Natsu didn't even deserve to talk to her. And if he tried, she'd kick his ass.

A limo was pulled up outside their front gate, Bickslow's arm waving out from inside the car.

"Hurry up or I'll eat all the snacks!"

"Don't even try it." Laxus snapped his fingers, Lucy watching as a tiny bolt of lightning flew to zap the tips of his fingers.

They helped Lucy climb in, settling her beside the lightning dragon, Lucy feeling like a child as Evergreen calmly pat her head. It reminded her how delicately the spirits treated her, always reminiscing about her young age.

"Can you tell me more about pheromones? I don't get how you knew I was sick." Lucy asked, Laxus grunting as he motioned for her to close her eyes. She sighed and complied, leaning against her arm as the car started to drive off.

"It's something a dragon should always know, like instinct. Though I guess a younger dragon wouldn't know what to look out for if he wasn't taught about withdrawal symptoms. How long have you known Natsu?"

"Since we were about five or six? We've been best friends since we've known each other."

"Best friends? You're not dating him?"

Lucy felt her skin warm, shaking her head and grabbing at the ends of her skirt. "N-No! We're only friends, but I've never been apart from him for more than a couple days until now."

"Uh-huh," She couldn't hear his eye roll and a couple snickers from someone else. "Well, either way, a dragon releases his pheromones to keep other beasts away from who he's chosen. It's not something that anyone other than a dragon or maybe a dog of some kind could smell. It fades away with time, and it only becomes a problem if you've imprinted. So, when'd you eat the kids' fire?"

"Eat his…" Lucy gasped as she opened her eyes, meeting Laxus' knowing ones. "Two weeks ago, when he stopped talking to me. It was the first time he ever...oh my…"

"Bet he didn't even know what he was doin'," He sighed. "Freakin' idiot. Imprinting changes a lot in a person's chemistry. You became reliant on his smell for the most part, and being apart for too long after that can have some crazy side effects. You were close to losing your mind over him."

Lucy had to laugh to herself; it was so Natsu. He didn't even seem to know he was doing it at the time, not that she would either.

"So by smelling you, I'm cured?"

"Not really. I act as a placeholder; your body recognizes that I'm a dragon, but it'll notice that we're not compatible at some point. You two need to make up over whatever's keeping you apart, but you'll be okay if you want to ignore him for a good month." Laxus said as Lucy nodded. She smiled, happy knowing that there was plenty of time to properly deal with Natsu.

"We're here! Come on, Lucy, let's go pick out something cute!" Evergreen cheered as the car pulled over, snatching the star to follow her into the shopping center.

"Something for those puffy eyes, too," Freed called out after them. "She can't be looking like around Laxus!"

Lucy wished she would've taken her friends up on their offers to go shopping to take her kind off Natsu, but she could never muster the excitement.

It felt easy to warm up to a new group of people, not to say that Lucy didn't want to see her friends. Her issues with Natsu felt like they were dividing the group; it'd been a while since she ate lunch with Gray or Gajeel. The memories between them all had been overwhelming at times. However, she could probably chalk it up to her withdrawal symptoms. It felt good to have fun for once without obsessing over text messages and pitiful stares.

However, she was sure Capricorn would scold her for skipping class.

"Where are we going now?" Lucy asked as they piled into the car again.

"Another high school; it's not that far away." The lightning dragon hummed through his food court snack. She nodded as Bickslow and Evergreen laid a jelly mask on her eyes.

She sighed and let her head rest against the seat, listening silently as they bickered about something trivial.

The drive was about fifteen minutes away, Lucy unable to recognize this side of town.

It was another school district, one she wouldn't have ever visited without a good enough reason.

It was average compared to the arena-sized building that was her school. Schools like this operated outside of the guild system, aiming for education over magical skills.

"Is Laxus meeting someone?" Lucy stood by the car with the Raijinshuu, all watching as he approached the school gates. "That girl?"

"That's his girlfriend, Hisui," Evergreen said as he hugged a girl with light green hair, who had been waiting patiently by the entrance. "Aren't they cute?"

"Girlfriend?" Lucy opened her mouth in surprise as they nodded.

"They've been together for a while now," Bickslow shrugged. "Six or seven years?"

"Has he imprinted on her too?" She asked, Freed quickly shaking his head.

"Laxus doesn't get to see Hisui all that often. Even if he wanted to, it would just put them both in a tough spot. They'd miss each other more than they already do."

"He carries those pheromone things around for Hisui since he can't see her every day." Evergreen explained as they continued to watch their overdue embrace. The sight made Lucy's heart sink, recognizing the tension in his arms as he slowly tightened his hold on her. She missed Natsu's touch.

"Is she coming with us?"

"Nah, her parents are pretty strict. They barely even let her see Laxus, but they tolerate him since his grandfather is a guild master. They get one supervised hug a week and one date a month," Bickslow said with an annoyed tone. "They think a dragon's too rough for a politician's daughter."

"Wow…"

"Let's turn around. Just because they only allow the hug doesn't mean he keeps it PG." Evergreen coughed, noticing even at a distance what he was about to do.

~000~

"Thanks a bunch for today," Lucy smiled as they stood in front of her house. "I really appreciate your help."

"We'll swing by to pick you up in the morning, alright?" Laxus instructed. "I meant it when I said we'd look after you."

"Mn, I'll see you then!" Lucy waved as they turned back around, Bickslow already complaining about his empty stomach.

She let out a happy sigh as she entered her home, walking up to her room without a second thought.

She twisted the handle and opened her door, jumping back as she was met with four pairs of glaring eyes.

"Gah! What are you guys doing here?! You scared me!"

"We came to check on you, duh. You never came back to class, and you left your stuff behind; we were worried!" Cana scolded her, folding her arms with a pout.

"We thought you'd be resting in bed, but you weren't here when we got here." Levy chimed in.

"And then we see you come home in a limo with Laxus Dreyar?" Erza said, shaking her head as she ate whatever snacks they had laid out on her short table.

"Juvia hopes Lucy-san hasn't gotten herself in trouble if the disciplinary committee is bringing her home. She heard Laxus-san is really scary!"

"No, it's nothing like that," Lucy shook her head as she joined them on the floor. "He gave me some advice about Natsu; that was pretty much it. He's going to keep his eye on me for a little while."

"Oh? Why's that? Is he the new dragon that's got your attention?" Cana asked, smirking slightly as Lucy flushed a slight pink.

"H-He just knows a lot about dragons. He wanted to help me with my situation with Natsu."

"Eh? What kind of help?" Levy tilted her head with curiosity, Lucy biting on her lip as she felt embarrassed.

"It's kind of a weird story, but…"

"Freed, leave a rune spell around this place. Don't let that kid back in until she wants to see him again." Laxus ordered as they began to leave Lucy's home, the fairy nodding his head as he pulled out a hidden sword from the air.

The Raijinshuu members were all different descendants of the Tuatha Dé Dannan, their magic derived from random skills given at birth. Simply put, they were a powerful range of fairy folk, the perfect pair to Laxus' reputation.

~000~

Natsu started with texts, reaching out to Lucy to see if she wanted to get together after so long.

'Hey, Luce, wanna come over for a snack?'

He waited patiently, begrudgingly occupying himself with homework over video games.

His focus wavered from time to time, his phone chiming with notifications every once in a while, none marked with Lucy's name.

The sun slowly set behind him as he sat at his bedroom table, folded over the wood with defeat. It was past dinner, and she still hadn't answered.

He wanted to catch her after class, but her classmates said she went home early that day. He was worried, of course, and wanted to run over to her house to make sure she was solar right this second. But something inside him warned him to take his time approaching her again. It was a voice Natsu could never disagree with, so he waited, although very annoyed.

'You okay? I heard you went home early?'

He flopped back on his bed, groaning as he saw that she hadn't even opened their message thread. Maybe she was asleep? If she went home early, perhaps it was to sleep off a fever or something.

"Luce…" He sighed to himself, falling asleep with his phone open on their thread.

He was used to waking up early at this point, after forcing himself to get up and...hide from Lucy.

He'd be staying there with a bright smile as she opened her door, ready to pull her into his arms with an overdue hug.

He dressed quickly, listening to the excited beat of his heart as he imagined the look on her face.

Natsu was positive that Lucy would want nothing more in the world than to see his face, the dragon highly disappointed when he attempted to walk onto her street.

He was unpleasantly smacked in the face by a large dome, the magic reverberating to reveal itself before it disappeared. He rubbed his nose, grumpy as he poked at the air, unsure of just what he ran into. His hand settled on the curve of the barrier, Natsu looking up to read the runes inscribed in the air.

"Until Lucy Heartfilia genuinely wants it, Natsu Dragneel will not be allowed anywhere near her home...the hell?!" He shouted, kicking at the bubble that had no chance of popping. Not even a fire-shrouded fist could provide any damage.

"Does she...does she really not want to see me?"

Amazingly enough, Natsu hadn't foreseen this outcome. At times he did question whether or not he'd been in the wrong, but he put his faith in the relationship they'd built up together. They were the dynamic duo, inseparable best friends that barely even needed to speak to know how the other was feeling. Natsu belonged to Lucy, and vice versa. They were never meant to be apart like this.

He grumbled to himself throughout the day, not even having a chance to look at her rounding a corner. It seemed like she was five steps ahead of him, day in and day out. Every time he'd try to catch her before class, she still hadn't been in her seat. Before lunch, she'd already been off somewhere else, not even eating with their friends. Even after school, her shoes were always gone and changed before he had the chance to run down to the floor level.

Was this how she felt before? He tried his best to stay out of her vision, dragging a reluctant Lisanna around with him wherever she went.

The soul-shifter was annoyed with him but chalked it up to Natsu being Natsu. He was always a weird one, and she didn't hate spending time with her old friend. She just wished they could've been with everyone else at the same time. How he talked about Lucy made her want to make friends with the star too, but he never gave her a chance.

A desperate feeling began to quell inside of him, angry and frantic emotions jumping around every which way. He wanted to see her, he wanted to see her, he wanted to see her.

Just once was all he was asking for! How could he not find her within a week of them both being on campus?! She'd been ignoring his texts, too, his heart feeling ripped apart at the sight of the 'read' notification taunting him.

He decided to skip his last class one day, staking her shoe locker from a nearby empty classroom. He sat on the floor with the door slightly cracked, watching and waiting like a predator for its next meal.

He twiddled his fingers and chewed on his bottom lip; his anxiety heightened as the bell finally rang. He felt his senses sharpen, his talons breaking through the skin of his palm as he tried to contain his growing apprehension.

He felt his heart skip a beat as she walked down the stairs, her body glowing in such a way that he wondered if she always looked like this. Had it really been so long? He almost wanted to cry, to run to her side and beg on his knees for her attention.

He cleared his throat and walked out to greet her, feeling the lump in his throat fall into his stomach as another guy was leaning beside her locker. They made eye contact, the familiar student making his blood boil as he smirked.

"Need something, kid?" Laxus asked, standing straight as he tilted his head and glared. Lucy looked at the other guy first with a raised brow before turning to meet his nervous gaze.

"Hey, Luce," Natsu said as he cleared his throat. "Can we talk?"

"...Not right now; I'm busy." She sighed, not even sparing him a second glance as she returned away from him. "Let's go, Laxus."

"Wait!" Natsu raised his voice as he reached out to grab her, successfully holding onto her elbow. "Come on, just one minute. You've been ignoring me all–"

The other students changing their shoes tried to move quickly as a slap rang through the air, no one wanting to look overly eager to observe the scene.

"I ignored you? Are you fucking kidding me?" Natsu stood with his head turned away, unable to fathom that he'd just been slapped with Lucy's full strength. And she never used her full strength on him. "Natsu, I don't even want to look at you right now. I'll talk to you when I feel like it, okay?"

The fire dragon slowly turned his eyes as Lucy began to walk away, his eyes drawn to the other dragon flipping him off. With that same fucking, bitch-ass smirk. And his arm wrapped around his fucking girl.

Natsu breathed in, clenching his teeth, almost raring to go start a fight. That's when he noticed it... Lucy's scent being smothered.

She always smelled like him; when had she not? That way, everyone knew who she belonged to, that she was his. But now she smelled like...rain and storm clouds, the static electricity building in the sky before the crash of lightning fell to the earth. She smelled like that fucking piece of shit who dared to touch her in his presence...!

"Don't even think about it." Erza's sword blocked his heated march toward the door, the other students quickly running out, not wanting to get caught up in whatever was about to go down.

"You better calm your fucking ass before we have to beat some sense into you," Gray spoke up, standing by her side, frost leaking from his fingertips. "Just try it, slanty eyes."

Gray wondered if Natsu was in his right mind or even knew that he was half transformed right now. His eyes were now an emerald green, his pupil split horizontally like the creepy lizard he was. His tail thwomped against the lockers as it swung back and forth, his scales flecking up and down his skin in uneven patterns.

"Turn around," Erza warned him, pointing her sword as he growled at her. "Go cool off, Natsu. Lucy doesn't want to see you right now. Accept it."

The winter sprite let go of the breath he was holding, relieved that Natsu turned around and ran somewhere onto the second floor.

"Gray-sama? Should we go after him?" Juvia asked from where she hid with Levy and Gajeel, looking worriedly at where Natsu once was.

"No, I don't want you getting hurt. He'll let us know when he's alright."

Natsu ran into one of the old training rooms somewhere on the second floor, falling to his knees as he held his aching head.

His thoughts were reeling through his mind at a mile a minute, overloading him with everything that had been steadily building up within him. Lucy. Lucy. Lucy. Lucy. Lucy. Why, why, why, why, why?! Of all people, another dragon?! How could she let him rub his grimy scent all over her?!

He whined, his stomach churning with an upset feeling that wanted to upchuck itself like bile. He wanted to hold her, to smell her, to beg for her forgiveness over and over again until she returned to his side.

Natsu felt himself slip away into the whirlwind of his maddening thoughts, his body exploding with a powerful flame that singed the room around him.

~000~

Lucy sighed as she rolled over in her bed, holding her Plue plush in her arms, staring at the lowering sun in the distance.

Her heart thumped at the memory of Natsu's solemn face; it'd really been quite some time since she had looked him in the eye. Something inside her screamed to run into his arms, to bury her head in her chest and forgive him for everything that happened.

Laxus said she'd feel like that, and if she really wasn't ready to go back to him, to just turn away and run.

She wanted to talk things through but couldn't be sure that Natsu really understood what he did wrong. His texts were always vague, asking how she was, if she were free to come over. He never said that he wanted to apologize, nor did he come over of his own volition.

Lucy sat up, pouting as she got up to dig through her closet, pulling out an old sweatshirt she hadn't worn in a while.

"Ugh, I miss you, Natsu," She buried her nose into the fabric, crawling back into bed with the hoodie balled in her arms. "I want to see you, idiot."

Laxus never told Lucy about the rune spell, nor did he fully consider just what could happen after provoking another dragon's unmarked mate. As much as he knew, his dragon lineage emerged from a distant relative, so he didn't know what could happen based on a dragon's personal experience. He mostly learned what he knew to keep Hisui safe, unaware of just how explosive a dragon could become.

Lucy moved to wash up for bed, taking her time to focus on what she wanted to do next.

"Maybe I'll text him back…" She mumbled to herself, exhaling her anxiety. "Or...oh…"

Reentering her room, Lucy carefully closed her door behind him. He stood beside her bed, filling the room with his dominating aura.

"Lucy." His voice ran like a shiver down her back, an overwhelming sense of nostalgia settling in her body. Oh, how she missed him.

He walked toward her, her knees buckling slightly as her back hit her door.

"Natsu," Her voice was barely above a whisper, forgetting how he towered over her, even though he was only a couple of inches taller. "What, what are you…"

His hands reached up to cup her face, a low purr rumbling in his chest. He leaned forward, his nose brushing against her own as she let their lips meet.

She moaned quietly as he wrapped her in his arms, unable to describe the sensation that overcame her. Maybe because it had been so long, both desperate to reignite their old memories. She wrapped her arms around his neck, pulling him closer, feeling his warmth envelop her as they parted their lips.

It was hard to pull herself back to her senses, though she was starved for his touch.

Lucy pulled away, Natsu's lips moving down the length of her neck with urgent attention.

"No, Natsu, stop...this doesn't change anything," She pushed him back by the shoulders, Lucy watching the confusion gather in his eyes. "I'm still mad at you."

"Just let me...get rid of his scent." He ignored her, wrapping his arms around her again as he rubbed his nose against her pulse point. She frowned, struggling in his hold as he physically smothered her.

"N-Natsu! Natsu quit it! Let go!" She grunted, slapping at his hands as he tightened his grip. "You're hurting me!"

He bared his teeth at her, gripping her forearms as he glared, snarling with smoke curling from his lips.

"Did he tell you to say that?" Natsu asked, shaking her slightly as he accused whoever of molding her narrative. "That other dragon that you let touch you, Lucy. I have to get rid of his scent!"

"You need to calm down," She tried to reason with him, shrieking slightly as his fire began to spread on his skin. "Natsu, stop!"

Lucy flinched as he moved his hand to cover her mouth, watching with wide eyes as something molten began to drip from his body.

"I just have to... we're leaving," He shook his head, lifting Lucy to hoist onto his shoulder. She let out a muffled scream, his tail wrapping around her lips to keep her quiet as he jumped out the window. "I can't let him find you, Lucy."

She struggled in his hold, thrashing back and forth as he walked through the street, clearly out of it to an unbelievable extent.

She managed to twist herself enough to knee him in the face, Natsu grunting as he momentarily lost hold of the star.

"You cannot just–drag me off! Stop it!" She yelled as he pulled her by the arm, practically dragging her behind him now. She winced, feeling the rocks and pebbles on the asphalt digging into the bottom of her feet. "Natsu!"

"I'm not letting him take you from me!" He stopped, screaming back at her, his chest heaving with fury.

"No one's taking me–Natsu!" Tears welled in her eyes as he seemed to pay no mind for her distress, too desperate to complete the goal set in his mind. "Please, Natsu!"

He continued to drag her towards his street, Lucy trying to ease his grip on her wrist. His magic continued to expel itself in its odd way, lava practically oozing from his skin and falling onto the ground behind him. She knew he wasn't okay, but what was there to do to calm the situation?

"I'll go with you, I swear, just please stop! It hurts!" She began to cry, choked sobs coming out as he again refused to slow his pace.

"Igneel!" Lucy shouted at the top of her lungs, knowing there was no one else she could call at this moment. Calling Loke or Capricorn would only result in public damage, neither able to handle the seemingly rogue dragon. "Igneel! Help!"

Her chest tightened as Natsu stopped, smothering her mouth with his hand as he growled.

"How dare–"

"Lucy?! Oh my god, Lucy!" It didn't take long for his parents to come barreling out of their house, staring at the two not far down the street.

"Natsu, I swear to God, you better let go of her right now!" His father roared as he ran toward them, Natsu's tail knocking Lucy onto her back.

"Igneel, he's gone berserk!" Grandine shouted behind him, lights turning on in Gray and Erza's houses.

Lucy cried through her panic, watching as Igneel's fist met Natsu's own, maneuvering around him to get a good grip on his arm. The Dragneel father grabbed his son's arm, tossing him at full strength a ways away down the street.

Grandine ran to Lucy's side, her own tears streaming down her face as she inspected her wounds.

"Lucy, oh goodness, are you alright?" She asked through her short sobs, Lucy mildly nodding as she accepted her concerned embrace.

"What's going on?" Silver asked as he came outside, Mika and Gray standing on their lawn, Juvia peeking out from the doorway. Erza and Irene joined them, quickly running to where Lucy was.

"I should have stopped him," Erza kneeled beside her, feeling on edge as she grasped her friend's hand. "He was upset after you left with Laxus today, and we just let him go somewhere to cool off."

"Cover your ears!" Igneel warned as he observed his son in the distance, everyone quickly preparing for the worst.

Natsu let out a roar that tore through the streets and the night, something loud enough that could be heard even on the other side of town. It made Lucy cry harder, feeling his emotions tenfold through their attachment. He was scared, frantic, and needy. He couldn't focus his thoughts and used aggression to try and get what he wanted, hurting them both in the process.

Gray ran to support his father, standing beside Igneel as a sonic boom propelled Natsu back toward them.

"Just get him out of here!" Grandine yelled at her husband, cringing as she turned away from the sight of her son's mental break. She held back her voice as she heard him face the fist of his own father.

"Keep him occupied; I need to chant a spell," Igneel instructed Gray and Silver, both nodding as Natsu heaved himself off the ground.

"Water Lock!" Juvia called out, standing beside Mika as she held out her hand.

"Ice-Make: Freeze!" Gray and his father combined their spell, holding their fists tight in their hand to keep Natsu from breaking out. Erza and Irene pulled out their swords, standing in front of Igneel to provide him support.

He drew a pattern in the air with thin flames, drawing out a rune that grew over Natsu's frozen prison.

Lucy could see Wendy and Happy from a distance, both curled together as they shook at the sight. She wanted to comfort them, to comfort Grandine, to comfort Igneel, and to comfort Natsu. Maybe she could have prevented this if she had just let him have what he wanted earlier.

They all braced themselves as the ice began to crack, a yellow light burning within the center of the sphere.

"Erza!" Irene tightened her grip on the hilt of her sword, her daughter nodding as she donned a flame-resistant armor.

They turned away as the ice exploded in their face, Natsu heaving as he looked through them with a frenzied gaze. His eyes settled on Lucy, the star feeling his sadness as he ran toward them again.

"Lucy!" He screamed, his flaming fist about to connect with Gray's icy one before his father finished the spell.

"Dragon's Cage!" Igneel let out a relieved breath as he successfully trapped Natsu in a cage of his own design, something strong enough to keep his son from escaping.

"No! Let me out! Lucy! Lucy!" He beat on the bars with his fists, roaring at the top of his lungs as he threw himself against the lone-standing flames.

"It'll be okay, Natsu," Igneel grimaced as his son continued to scream and spew flames, magic still falling from his body in an unhealthy fashion. He quickly transformed himself into full size, his wings stirring the dirt and dust on the ground as he picked up the cage with his hand. "I'll be back when he's all better!"
