LEAK
Hot damn, these fools try to stick me for my paper. Damn these fools won't leave me alone.
Hot Damn by Ivy Levan
Florence takes the only empty seat squished in between Vlad King and Hound Dog, who to his credit doesn't bother her and doesn't seem interested in small talk. She wishes that she could say the same to Vlad. The larger man spends most of the time waiting for Nezu by bothering her. She evades his questions for the most part, not interested in sharing anything personal and not quite seeing the point of answering most of it either.
"Talbot." The lack of honorifics doesn't go unnoticed, but she looks to Vlad unflinching as he continues, "What exactly do you have planned for your class?"
"Nezu informed me that each individual teacher is free to create their own curriculum as well as teach and discipline as they see fit." Florence's voice comes across as cold and calculating. When she offers a smile, it comes off as sharp and feral, "I suppose if you really want to see what I have planned then you will just have to watch and see."
"I have no doubt that a lot of us will." Vlad eyes her cautiously, "But you should at least inform us which of our classes are going to be there and when. Nezu didn't explain much other than it being mandatory for first years and elective for second and third."
Florence sighs, leaning back in her seat a bit more casually, "Classes A and B, in each year, will be combined. This will give both respective teachers an equal break opportunity as well as promote good relations between separate classes. First years will be in my class twice a week, on Tuesdays and Thursdays, while second and third will be once a week, Mondays and Wednesdays respectively. I have already talked to Nezu about offering extra classes to those who need it or sign up for it on Fridays and Saturdays. Those extra classes will be a mixed bunch and may mix the years up together, depending on whether many students need it or want it."
To Aizawa, that sounds pretty reasonable. The idea of already having a break twice a week for at least an hour is appealing in of itself - and potentially even more breaks depending on how many of his students end up in the extra classes. Even he has to admit that mixing the classes needs to be done every so often. He's worked with Vlad in the past on battles between the two, but he supposes the students could use a more neutral, less competitive ground to share. But when he glances over to the other teacher, he can see that Vlad King is not as thrilled about the idea of the two classes sharing a space.
"The kids are always competitive when it comes to Class A," Vlad argues, "Having them together is just asking for a handful. Are you sure you're up to it?"
Florence doesn't seem too concerned, looking Vlad over unimpressed before glancing toward Aizawa, "Is the competitive nature shared with your class?"
Aizawa scratches at his scruff, "Depends on the year. Sometimes after seeing how Class B is, they match energy. Most of the time though, they don't care."
At least when he has students that year; Class A, no matter the year, usually doesn't share Class B's competitive streak against each other. Sure, they always want to win - at least if they're driven and good students - but they rarely go out of their way to seek out and try to beat the other class. He tries to drill it into their heads each year to not create bad relations with the other class since it doesn't matter what class you're from once you're a pro.
Florence nods, almost seeming like she expected such an answer, before turning back to Vlad, "Then it seems to me like it's a sentiment shared only by your class. Perhaps Nezu has to add training classes to the staff about biases and supporting unnecessary competition." She snorts, "But knowing him, that rodent loves the drama and sees it as them being driven."
Before Vlad can voice how offended he is about what is being implied, Florence continues.
"It won't matter anyway. They'll learn pretty quickly that I don't give a shit about what class they're a part of outside of my own and that type of unnecessary drama won't be tolerated."
Aizawa rolls his eyes, already regretting not bringing his sleeping bag. It's a nice sentiment, but he doubts that she will be able to get a hold of the students that fast, especially for someone supposedly so new to teaching. She sounds to him like any other naive new staff member. One who thinks that controlling a bunch of hormonal, quirk-crazy kids is easy.
"We'll see." Vlad states simply, crossing his arms tight against his chest.
The smile Florence gives is full of sharp teeth and conviction. Aizawa sees Present Mic about to (loudly) voice his own two cents, but Nezu's entrance interrupts him.
"Glad to see everyone getting along so well," Nezu's voice chirps, a grin forced on his face. He clasps his hands together before settling in, immediately going to nest in Aizawa's scarf.
Florence raises a brow at that, looking at him curiously. She wonders if Aizawa realizes just how much Nezu must like him and trusts him to actually do such a thing, despite Nezu already insisting that it is just warm and comfortable as Aizawa lightly protests. Considering it doesn't surprise anyone, it means that such a thing is a common occurrence within the staff.
"Normally, we use this time to discuss the upcoming years and its students before we have to leave to oversee the entrance exam. But the first thing I'd like to address is the media presence this morning."
Nezu's eyes turn a bit sharper, shadowed as he overlooks his staff, "I am not pleased that All Might's presence here has already spread to the news before the year even began."
Florence spots some of the staff shifting uneasily and considering Nezu's tone, she knows that he is cross and if a bit betrayed. If All Might's presence was only known to the staff and it is already leaked, it presents immediate problems among loyalty. If the news had spread later, it would be easy to blame it on the students accidentally telling a sibling or a friend, but now - Nezu has all of his candidates right in front of him.
She glances toward All Might, who seems uncomfortable at the subject of conversation. He shifts in his seat a bit, adjusting his comically large tie. If not for the range of body types and appendages these days, she would almost be surprised that there even is a suit in his size. But at least he tried to dress professionally; granted, it makes her a bit more peeved that she was the one singled out for wearing casual clothes and not the Number One Hero.
"Considering we've all been on staff for years, perhaps the new hire should be investigated first," Thirteen speaks up and they glance toward Florence almost apologetically, "My apologies. Please understand that it's not personal."
Florence waves the comment off, "Don't apologize. I would have looked toward myself immediately as well. A new hire at the same time as a news leak that had to have come from staff is understandably suspicious."
She looks over the staff with sharp eyes, "But I didn't do it. I despise the media and I didn't even know All Might was a part of the staff until today. Nezu must have forgotten to mention it."
She gives a pointed glare toward the rodent, who seems unapologetic as he grins, "My apologies, Florence-sama."
She knows that he's not sorry, but there is not much that can be done about it now. Nezu continues speaking as he overlooks everyone pointedly.
"With Florence-sama not knowing of All Might's presence here, that eliminates her as the potential leak to the press. I am not here to accuse anyone, but please know that this is something that I take very seriously and will be keeping a close eye on everyone. Of course, if you're not guilty, you have nothing to worry about! On the other hand, if you are - I will find out. So it may be best for you to come forward to me at your earliest convenience."
Nezu's threat is thinly veiled with him looking much more like the menace she knows that he can be. She is mildly impressed that most of the staff don't seem unnerved over his conviction, but rather glance around at each other with a sense of unease and distrust. She imagines that all of them won't take the news of someone that they trusted leaking news to the press well, considering most have been working at UA for a while. Their sense of camaraderie and unity was palpable when she walked in and if one of them is betraying UA, even in something as simple as this, it would be a blow.
But she glances at Nezu, she can see that there is something more there that he is not telling everyone. Something in his eyes seems too hard to simply be about leaking news to the press. She imagines that he already has his suspicions and if the leak isn't caught soon, there's no telling how much they will leak to the press over the school year. Her lips tightly thin into a grimace.
If this leak isn't caught in time - what will happen if they find out about their quirk? Or, she realizes with dread, if they find out how old she really is.
