The hunt is on, everyone's chasing - everyone's chasing a shot. A shot rings out, nobody wants it - nobody wants it to stop.

Them Brothers by Regina Spektor

Florence should have known that only Nezu would think of something so extreme for his practical entrance exam; honestly, robots. She shakes her head with a sigh as she settles down into the viewing booth with the rest of the teachers. She knows that there is more to it. Ectoplasm is king enough to explain the rescue point scoring system as well as the secret red buttons on the robots. She doesn't agree with the system completely. Rescue points give everyone a fair shot - provided they either figure out the secret scoring system or at least have the decent makings of a hero. But the hidden stop buttons on the robots she feels still put those with less offensive quirks at a disadvantage. While those with powerful or offensive quirks won't have to think much to plow through the robots, others will have to rely on their wits and quick solving skills for a problem that they didn't even know to expect.

Granted, it at least keeps the kids on their toes. But as she looks out at the dozens of screens in front of them, she knows that her eyes are going to be scanning for those underappreciated wits that she can nourish and those who she knows will need extra classes to get through their thick, teenage skulls. Both are the types that she is, despite herself, looking forward to. Disciplining and nourishing those who have relied too much on their quirks and those who are often overlooked that she knows that she can turn into great heroes.

She catches Nezu looking at her with that knowing gleam in her eyes. She hates that she will have to admit to the rodent that he was right. She is wanting to do this, excited for it even. It has been ages - centuries even - since she has really taught children. She forgot how much she has missed it.

"Big turnout this year," Present Mic's voice carries as he enters the room; she wondered just when he would show up, but she supposes that he was the one leading the written exam. His smile takes up most of his face, "I've never seen so many kids applying to UA in one year."

"I doubt many will actually make it," Aizawa voices.

Florence raises a brow when she realizes the other teacher has secluded himself to the back, wrapped up in a bright yellow sleeping bag. She wouldn't put it past the red-eyed man to have been sleeping this entire time. She wonders if he's even awake enough to be paying attention to the practical. When she glances at the other teachers, they all seem pretty invested in the kids that start lining up outside of the arenas on screen. She pays a little more attention to All Might, given that the large man is simply radiating with a nervous energy that feels unexpected. She supposes that he is new to the whole teaching thing, more so than her, and brushes it off as him simply not being used to Nezu's eccentric tendencies when it comes to the exams. At the very least, she is glad to see that he made it back in time to see the exam, provided that he had disappeared while Present Mic oversaw the written portion.

Present Mic immediately goes to the front by the screens. With a press of a button, he speaks into the microphone to announce the start of the exam. Florence watches with amusement as the children immediately scramble through the gates as they open; it seems that Mic wasn't lying about the large turnout. She can't even count how many are taking the practical and is glad that there are so many screens and cameras to overlook them all. For once Nezu's paranoia and annoying prepared thoroughness pays off.

"He seems like an overachiever." Cementoss comments calmly, eyes fixated on a screen where a blonde boy literally blows his way through all the robots he sees immediately after entering.

"Arrogant is more likely," Florence voices in a thoughtful hum. She spots the blonde's almost crazed look in his eyes as he screams at the robots. Considering the amount of control he is already showing over his powerful, flashy quirk, she wouldn't be surprised to find that he has such a confident attitude. But she quickly turns her attention elsewhere as soon as the blonde makes it clear that he is going to pass the practical with flying colors.

Aizawa leans forward to look at the screens more closely; he immediately silently agrees with Florence's assessment. The look on the kid's face is familiar and one he's seen in a lot of his students in the past. Arrogant kids who think that their quirks will get them anywhere that they want to go.

"The floating clothes seem to be doing a decent job," Florence adds, amusement lacing her voice as she watches what is no doubt an invisible girl (or a boy who just chose some rather small looking shorts) find her way to the stop buttons on the robots. To their credit, they seemed to have figured it out fast and didn't waste any time helping the other students either. She briefly wonders if they just have that good of a heart or if they figured out rescue points.

"They'll need a DNA-infused suit if they make it in," Ectoplasm muses, "Nothing we haven't done before at least, but I imagine that their quirk causes a lot of problems and miscommunication."

DNA-infused suits. Florence shakes her head with mild bafflement, it will never cease to amaze her just how far everything's come - from technology to accommodations to mutations. She still remembers when others had to suffer through clothes not made for them, horns tearing holes through fabric, invisible people forced to either be naked to be truly invisible or only visible with their fashion choices.

"Interesting that there's so many who are already rescuing others and helping each other," Nezu comments with a chirp. "I'm sure that there will be even more after I review the footage, but there's no doubt that there is something special about this bunch."

Judging from his comment, it seems that it's not every year that they get many who figure out the rescue point system - or are just willing to help others without motivation. She continues watching the screens. A boy with taped elbows is rounding up the robots and trapping them before pulling them down. A girl spewing acid through robots' chests. She focuses on the ones using the stop button on the robots instead of relying on brute force. There's a few. One with multiple appendages, one with a tail. They show promise for her class and she does find herself rooting for them silently.

But then there's one. She knows she's not the only teacher paying attention to him now; it's hard not to. She doesn't recall seeing him take down a single robot and with no distinguishable features that give away his quirk, she briefly ponders on what the green haired child is planning as he runs straight for the zero pointer. She glances around and notices All Might leaning forward with apt interest, concern gleaming in his eyes; she figures that that is expected. The Number One Hero being concerned for the safety of a child who does not seem to stand a chance against such a large robot.

But Nezu doesn't stop him or call anything off, even as the timer starts to drastically lower, so she sits back and waits to see. She's not the only one surprised when the child takes it down in one hit, damaging his arm severely in the process. Ah so that is why he didn't take down any other robots. Either someone whose body isn't compatible with their quirk or he simply doesn't know how to control it yet.

Among the teachers openly complimenting how impressive the hit was, Aizawa speaks up in argument.

"He's reckless. He could've gotten himself killed."

All Might looks strained, as if holding himself back from making a comment as Aizawa shuffles in his sleeping bag, tired eyes looking at the screen in judgement. As he moves closer to her, Florence is the only one who openly agrees with him. He briefly looks at her in surprise, but then she continues.

"It is clear that either he does not have control over his quirk well or that his body is simply not compatible with it. Which is reckless. However, there are a few main points that should be concerned, especially when it comes to issuing rescue points. Strategically, he must have known that he couldn't hit many robots. Instead of going for the ones that the others did, he went for the one that was the biggest threat to everyone's safety despite knowing it wasn't 'worth' any points. In the process, he saved other potential students."

"So yes," Florence meets Aizawa's eyes as he looks at her, narrowed and harsh, "He was reckless, but he was also heroic. And I doubt Nezu would simply let any student potentially die in the entrance exam - that wouldn't boil over well with the public."

Aizawa snorts, but seems to at least back down from her argument as the entrance exam comes to a close.
