Current Stage: Peach's Castle
Another typical day for Mario, the oldest of the famous Super Mario Bros. He was determined to do what he always does: go to the castle to see the Princess, only to discover that the Princess was kidnapped by Bowser once again. After that, travel through the eight worlds and rescue her from the terrible tyrant. Let him fall into the lava, get the girl and the cake. Once again, nothing new to him,at least not by that time.
For one moment, he hoped to have a little twist in his life. Ever since he had arrived in the Mushroom Kingdom, it had always been the same. There were only a few times where it changed a small bit, but he specially recalls his last adventure, about finding the 120 Power Stars inside the castle. Mario was a bit tired of everything. He was just hoping that he could, for one small moment, live a peaceful life with his brother Luigi and Princess Toadstool (although she went by the name of Peach now) enjoying the cake that she always made.
Mario went to the castle, but nothing(and no one) could prepare him for what he was about to face.
At least,not this time.
He was surprised when he saw a small warp pipe in the ground; if anything, he would've been informed of it first! Mario went inside the pipe, usual handy transportation method in the Mushroom Kingdom. He expected a surprise for his hard work; maybe a gathering if both friends and foes alike, a rare occasion of peace and quiet. On the other hand, the pipe could also lead to a deadly trap, which could result in his untimely doom…Not that it ever happens, because most of the time, one way or another, he survives. Eyes closed, he burst jumping out of the pipe with a "Let's-a-go!", excited to find whatever they had in store for him.
The answer to that was…quite unexpected.
After he burst out of the pipe, he found himself on what he thought was the castle's rooftop, but quickly took that back after taking a better look. Besides the castle tip, there was a small platform, although not too small for him to walk on it. A longer stone platform was moving below him left and right, and hovering above him were two, gigantic metal blocks joined by what looked like a wooden railroad; a wooden flat platform was in the middle of it. But the strangest thing by far was none of the above,no; to our red-and-blue colored hero, it was the fact that the stage where he was standing was levitating above the Princess's Castle!
Mario, confused like never before, felt like it was just the start of something far more bizarre.
He wasn't wrong.
Even more strange things started happening. A young, tall man descended from a column of light, carrying both sword and shield in his hands. A comet crashed nearby, revealing a pink, rounded figure, with small arms and red shoes; two eyes and a small, smiling mouth as his face. A tiny ball fell from the sky, bursting open in a stream of light; what came out of it was a small, yellow, red-cheeked rodent, who had a lightning-shaped tail. Mario was astonished, but quickly took a fighting position when he realized the others were doing the same thing.
Mario broke the silence which was upheld until that moment by the four of them by saying "Who are you? What's-a happening? Why are we all here?" The swordsman replied, "None of us here are allowed to tell you. We can only fight. I'm sorry." Mario could see a small grin in the man's face, as if he was pleased by the fact that he could talk. "But I can give you our names. I am Link, Hero of Hyrule. The small pink one is Kirby. The yellow mouse goes by the name of Pikachu, as far as I know."
Kirby replied with an affirmative "Poyo!" in his native language, while Pikachu affirmed Link's statement by telling his name, or at least a few syllables of it. Mario was surprised by these enigmatic characters, but recalled Link's words. "We can only fight." He sounded a bit…sorrowful. Like he didn't want to be part of this. He thought that maybe there was something (or someone) behind these strange occurrences, and he was going to find out whoever is behind this mad scheme and free his newfound companions.
He didn't want to do it, he had to.
"All fighters in position!" A voice that was not recognized by Mario shouted from…somewhere. He didn't know what it was, or who it belonged to, but he expected to get some answers any minute now. Instead, a traffic light-looking thing was hovering above the four of them. And the voice shouted its will once again, as if it was commanding them. "You shall now fight! Free-for-all, 3 Minutes, all items! Fighters ready!"
Everyone in position, guarded and alert, watched as the traffic lights lit up, along the voice declaring the beginning of the battle.
"3, 2, 1, GO!"
