After Addison's demise, the polyps in his lair began to reform into their merfolk bodies again. Dozen of mermaids and mermans soon left, joyful that the sea warlock was dead, and re-embraced their loved ones.
The legendary trident and Atlantean crown floating back to its original owner, Poseidon, now transformed back into his merman form, grabbed them and smiled. Seth saw his father and immediately hugged him, sobbing as he did, "Dad! I'm sorry! I'm so sorry! I'm-"
Poseidon hugged his son back, "It's alright. It's alright..." his tone didn't have a hint of anger, only acceptance. The merfolk broke away before Seth had his eyes to the surface, looking sad. The prince swam back up to the surface and perched himself on the same rock he sang after he saved Caleb. Seth was upset at this. He knew they were from two different worlds and he loved him. But as long as he owned his tail and gills, he could never be apart of Caleb's world.
Behind him, Poseidon and Seth's friends watched from a distance. "He really does love him, doesn't he?" the sea king noticed. Josh, Breanna, and Haven all nodded in agreement. "And he loves him, just as much, Your Majesty," Haven commented on.
"It's like I always say, Your Majesty: Children got to be free to live their own lives," Josh 'quoted.'
"You... always say that?" Breanna said, clearly not believing the crustacean. Said crustacean sheepishly blushed as the cetacean eyed him.
"Then I guess there's just one problem left," Poseidon said.
"And what's that, Your Majesty?" Josh questioned.
"... How much I'm going to miss him," the sea king sadly said before swimming over to his son. The mermaid, dolphin, and crustacean knew what he meant and let the dad talk to his son.
"Seth."
The merman turned to his dad's direction. Poseidon got a look at his son's eyes: dull, pain, and ashamed. Poseidon knew he had hurt his son, but he knew what his son wanted. He loved this human, but the way he got to him had hurt him inside. And Seth was regretting having turned to his wicked uncle but Poseidon didn't want him to think like that. He had driven the wage between them and now, he wanted to make it up.
"Hi, dad..." Seth said.
"Seth, look at me," the sea king asked.
Seth looked his dad straight in the eyes before tearing up again, "Dad, I'm so, so sorry. I didn't mean for you to turn into one of Addison's polyps, giving him the power of the sea at his fingertips," Seth took a short breath before continuing, "I just... I just want a chance. There have been days where I felt like don't belong in Atlantis. I felt like a disappointment in your eyes. But I never intended Addison to go back on his deal and do what he did. My mind was so tempted to just give human life a chance, and I found it-"
Poseidon interrupted, "Seth," his tone had no hint of anger and sternness, more of compassion and gentleness, "He had you and planned to hurt you, just to get to me." Seth wiped a few tears from his eyes, before his dad placed his hand on his shoulder.
"And you have nothing to be sorry for. It was mine," the sea king regretfully said, "I drove you away all because of a fascination. Just like how your grandparents did with Addison. I didn't want to have a repeat of that. You are an extraordinary merman, not a disappointment. I hope you can forgive me."
Seth gave a small smile at the statement and a nod, signaling that he forgives his dad. He even went in for a hug. Poseidon continued, "In fact, I'm very proud of you."
Seth perked up at the sentence. "You're... proud of me?" He'd always wanted to hear his dad say those words to him.
"I couldn't be prouder," the sea king, "You helped rid us from an evil and bridge a gap between our world and humans, something I thought was never possible. And, somehow, in the blink of an eye when my back was turned, you grew up and found true love," then he grew a sad smile. He backed away a little bit before his trident glowed.
Seth ponder why his dad's trident was glowing before it touched the water, creating a sparkling stream towards him. "From this day forward, whichever world you wish to be a part of, whenever you desire, your wish will be granted," Poseidon said.
Seth gained a big smile before turning towards Caleb's fallen body. He dove in one last time with his blue tail as his second transformation was less painful and more gentle.
Caleb eventually came to. As his eyes began to focus again, he questioned if Seth was okay. Looking towards the sea, he hoped the merman was okay. And possibly, wanting to be with him. His thoughts went away as he saw a wonderful sight.
Seth emerged out of the water, wearing a new outfit. He now wore a glistening sky blue shirt and pants. Seth smiled with his arms opened wide as Caleb ran to him. Caleb spun him in the air before finally kissing each other.
'So worth the wait,' Seth thought.
"I thought I lost you again," Caleb said as they walked out of the shallow area, "Promise me you'll never scare me like that again."
"I promise. This time, I'm not going anywhere," Seth stated. Both princes were about to kiss again when they were interrupted.
"Caleb!"
Alex came running with Zoe, who was outpacing him. The German Shepherd jumped up and down, excited to see her owner and her owner's boyfriend safe and sound.
"Oh thank goddess, you two are alright," Alex wheezed out.
Caleb chuckles at his friend's demeanor, "Yep, we're fine. And on top of that, I've found the one I've been looking for."
"Yes, I can see that. Though, I do have a question for you," the advisor turned his attention to Seth, "how in the world did you go from legs to fins to legs?"
"I can answer that," Poseidon said, making his way over to their location. "Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Poseidon, king of Atlantis and Seth's father."
Caleb and Alex were shocked at the sight of the king. "Y-you're Ki-Kin-King Poseidon..." Caleb stuttered out before bowing to him, Alex shortly after.
"Believe now?" the brunette quietly joked at his friend.
"Wait, so you're his son?" Alex picked up on.
"Is that a problem?" Caleb narrowed his eyes, hoping his advisor approved, considering he let him fight a sea warlock to save his love.
"Oh no," Alex made placating gestures, "I'm just relieved he's royalty."
Poseidon then chimed in, "If I may, I would like to owe you an apologize, Caleb."
"Me?" the prince in question asked.
"Years ago, my wife was killed by pirate ship. Ever since then, I felt that all humans were incapable of any feelings," Poseidon said, "but after seeing you with my son, my view changed... There is a chance that humans and merfolk can coexist together."
Both humans were surprised at the ideal. Caleb managed to speak first, "Well, with all due respect, I am willing to be the first. And as such..." the land prince turned to the former merman before shifting his attention back to the sea king, "I would like your blessing to marry Seth."
Now it was Poseidon's turn to be shocked. But nevertheless he smiled, "Of course, I approve."
Caleb's gaze turned to Seth, who immediately smiled at his fiancé. Both boys kissed once again. And Seth was inwardly happy that he got his chance.
A few days later, the wedding was in full swing. It not only brought the union of two people, but uniting the two worlds.
Poseidon removed the contact law, allowing merfolk to appear for the first time in years. Both species were shocked at the revelation, merfolks as the sacred law was removed and humans with the existence of the former, but they accepted it and welcomed each species, creating a new age.
The wedding was held on a wedding barge. The ship was decorated with flowers and seashells, resembling the two worlds now. They were in the middle ocean, but just enough distance from the main land. The weather was warm and sunny without a single cloud and the sea was calm and still.
The wedding had a great turn out, with the inhabitants of Atlantis, merfolk and sea fauna alike, coming to watch the young prince's wedding. All of Seth's sister were squealing at the idea of their little brother getting married as they were decked out in jewelry as they watched from the ocean. Many of the town's people were invited as well to pay tribute to the prince and offer their congratulations to the young couple's arrangement.
At the altar, Caleb stood with Alex, looking confident and excited. Caleb was dressed an ocean blue tuxedo jacket, blue bow tie, black slacks, dress socks, and loafers with neatly combed hair. Alex stood next to him in a navy blue suit jacket himself, with corresponding slacks, tie, socks, and black dress shoes.
Before Caleb knew it, the orchestra began to play the wedding march. The prince and advisor turned to Zoe with the wedding rings on a satin pillow as she frolicked down the aisle in a happy mood. Then Seth walked down the aisle with Poseidon, who had conjured a self sustaining fountain for him to float on, while not making the ground wet.
The sight of the former merman took Caleb's breath away. Seth's hair was combed back and slightly parted with his blue highlights and a cerulean blue crown on his head. His wedding tuxedo jacket had a sky blue color scheme and bow tie with his black slacks, dress socks, and dress shoes. And around his necklace was his aquamarine necklace, which glistened of the sunlight. While walking down the aisle, the former merman smiled before getting to the altar across from Caleb.
The ceremony went by so quick in Seth's eyes. The minute the vows finished and the rings were placed, both princes gave their kisses as the wedding guests gave their congratulations to the happy couple. Before long, everyone was singing and dancing and having a marvelous time with each other, aquatic and terrestrial.
With some water magic, Seth was able to whip up on small stream that lifted his two best friends up to his level. Breanna gave a small click and Haven hugged him as a parting gift. Marcus flew up and gave his own congratulations while also giving a wink. "Thanks for everything," the former merman thanked and his friends shared a smile.
From the wedding cake, Josh nearly cried from the reception... before Robby, still enraged from their scuffle in the kitchen, tried to chop him. The crustacean made a break for it, avoiding the chef's weapon. He came near some pulleys and ropes, before an idea formed in his head.
As soon as Robby was close, Josh snapped through some ropes and caused a wooden pole to fall on top of Robby's head, surprisingly not giving him a concussion. Getting the last laugh, Josh leapt into the ocean and bowed in an overdramatic manner while Haven and Breanna merely rolled their eyes.
Seth's siblings gave their own goodbyes, mostly hugs. And then Poseidon's turn came. The sea king held back some tears as he saw his only son with legs. Seth held back his own tears before hugging his dad. "I love you, dad."
"I love you too, Seth," Poseidon replied, "Remember, whenever you hear the surf roar against the dock at night, when you feel the tingle of salt in the air, it's just your old man wanting to keep you close." As a final act, Poseidon casted a huge rainbow in the sky.
Seth stared in awe as Caleb held him from behind. The brunette kissed his new husband who happily returned it.
And they lived happily ever after.
The End.
