Transformers Dark Of The Moon: Cuervosplicer's Birthright.
Chapter 3: South American Rescue Mission.
(Author's notes: In this chapter, there'll be a lot of Decepticons being reprogrammed, including even the Assaulters. The reason why is because of the fact that Cuervosplicer fine-tuned the harpoons at the Autobots' disposal to work on the Assaulters and the Combaticon Warriors with only one shot to make things easier for him and his comrades.
Enjoy chapter 3.)
(Autobot Headquarters, undisclosed location, third person POV...)
Major Reynolds says to Optimus, "Optimus, this is Major Reynolds. We have Autobot designate: Mirage online."
Mirage is shown driving on an old South American road as he says, "Connection is secured. Optimus, you are good to go."
Optimus explains, "Mirage, our scans of Decepticon communications have revealed suspicious Decepticon activity in a remote part of the Amazon jungle. Sideswipe went in to investigate the Decepticon activity twenty-three Earth hours ago, but this morning, we lost contact with him. This was his final transmission:"
Sideswipe's transmission is replayed for Mirage as he says, "Optimus, I've found a hidden Decepticon base here in the Amazon jungle of South America. The hidden base looks like some kind of giant launching pad. I'm staying on the move to avoid detection, but the Decepticon patrols are heavy and their security is tight, and I've only got so much time before they find me. Send backup, fast!"
The transmission ends.
(South America, Mirage's starting location...)
Optimus finishes explaining to Mirage, "So you see, Mirage, you are to rendezvous with Bumblebee, Cliffjumper, Tailgate, Cuervosplicer, Tracks, Longarm, Hoist and Blowpipe. Then, you are to locate and retrieve Sideswipe. Major Reynolds and his N.E.S.T team will be standing by should you need them."
Mirage replies, "That won't be necessary."
Optimus replies back, "I know you are uncomfortable working with the humans, Mirage, but you should learn to never judge a datapad by its contents or a sentient being from the outside. Give Major Reynolds a chance, and who knows? He just might surprise you. Good hunting, Mirage. Optimus out."
A few seconds later, Mirage is contacted by Major Reynolds as the field commander of N.E.S.T says, "All right, Mirage, it's just you and me for a while."
Mirage replies, "That is correct. Although, it will take some time for me to get used to working with your people against the Decepticons."
Major Reynolds replies reassuringly before becoming serious, "Don't worry, Mirage. We'll get along just fine. Anyway, you should know that no one in South America has used these roads for a long time, given twenty-five to forty years, so I doubt they've been kept up. Might be a rougher ride than an Italian sports car is used to."
Mirage responds, "Yes, but I am not an ordinary Italian sports car, so I'll manage, Major Reynolds."
After a few more seconds of carefully driving, Major Reynolds contacts Mirage and advises, "Mirage, you have a bogey inbound. Its speed would indicate it's hostile and in a very bad mood."
After a few seconds of analyzing the speed data, Major Reynolds finishes, "I hate to be the bearer of more bad news, but that's no ordinary bogey. It's Starscream."
Mirage asks in response, "How long do I have before Starscream attacks?"
Major Reynolds replies, "About ninety seconds. My map shows an old tunnel a few miles ahead. It can be good cover if you can get there in time."
Mirage starts driving at a controlled form of maximum speed to get to the tunnel while being careful not to fall off the roads if he goes too fast.
At the minute mark, Mirage exclaims quietly, "Almost there!"
At the fifty second mark, Starscream notices Mirage and sneers, "Another Autobot? I will deal with this one personally."
After making it to the tunnel, Major Reynolds asks, "Cutting it a little bit close, don't you think?"
As Starscream's bombing run results in zero casualties, Mirage mutters, "These old South American roads are atrocious."
While progressing, Mirage found himself under attack by a small number of Decepticon Soldiers.
Mirage manages to deal with them while taking little damage.
After progressing through the rocky grounds to find another road, Mirage starts driving, only to encounter Starscream planting proximity mines on the road all the way to the bridge.
While planting the proximity mines, Starscream snarled, "Chew on these!"
As Mirage dodges the first proximity mines without taking damage, Starscream taunts him as he says, "You can't dodge me forever, Autobot!"
Major Reynolds contacts him and states, "Mirage, we are moving in for an assist!"
Mirage replies, "Good, but hurry! I don't know how much longer I can hold off Starscream."
Once Mirage makes it to the bridge, Starscream sneered, "You don't know when to quit, Autobot!"
It was at that moment that Starscream's missiles were about to make impact behind Mirage, but then, an Energon laser blew them out of the sky.
Starscream sees for himself a Cybertronian equivalent of a large McDonnell-Douglas F-15 Eagle fighter jet transforming to robot mode, revealing the jet to be Cuervosplicer!
Starscream transforms to robot mode and starts hovering via his rocket thrusters, ready for a fight.
Cuervosplicer fires his heat-seeking missiles at Starscream, and the missiles make their mark.
Starscream tries to fight Cuervosplicer, but because Cuervosplicer is a fast learner, he was able to learn how to dodge and block Starscream's attacks.
Starscream is growing increasingly frustrated, but he's not one to back down from a fight like this.
While Starscream is distracted, Mirage makes it across the bridge and Beetlewing permanently reprograms the Decepticon troops – Assaulters included – in the very same path where Mirage had to navigate to meet Bumblebee and a N.E.S.T chopper for supplies and a weapons upgrade in the original timeline.
After the last backhanded punch, Starscream stumbles in the air before righting himself and saying, "One day, Autobot, you will know that Starscream is your doom!"
Starscream switches to jet mode and flies off to warn the other Decepticons.
Beetlewing projects holographic footage of her in the Mayan temple to Cuervosplicer and Mirage as she asks, "Do you guys see what I see?"
Mirage muses, "Interesting. The walls of the temple are covered with ancient Decepticon hieroglyphs."
Cuervosplicer adds, "Yeah, and they are so ancient that only the likes of Megatronus the Fallen Prime would be able to decipher them."
Major Reynolds asks, "Those are Decepticon hieroglyphs? I thought this was a Mayan temple?"
Mirage theorizes, "I would guess your Mayans built their temple atop an existing Decepticon structure."
Then, a reprogrammed Assaulter shows up and barks happily, showing Cuervosplicer that the Decepticon Assaulters act like dogs.
Mirage says fearfully, "I've seen his kind before. His sensors are powerful enough to break my cloaking shield if he gets too close."
Mirage and Cuervosplicer meet up with Beetlewing.
Just then, the Autobots known as Bumblebee, Cliffjumper, Tailgate, Tracks, Longarm, Hoist and Blowpipe showed up and helped stock up on any weapons available.
Bumblebee says, "We got here as soon as we could, Mirage, but the roads here in this part of South America are killer for our tires."
Mirage replies, "I know that. But now that we're all here, let us get a move on to find Sideswipe."
Cuervosplicer adds, "Good thing I always bring backup."
Cuervosplicer snapped his fingers and almost immediately, their reinforcements consisted of Autobot Captains, Autobot Melee Warriors, Autobot Ranged Warriors, Autobot Sergeants, Aerialbot Scouts, Aerialbot Warriors, Autobot Commanders, Autobot Lieutenants, Autobot Majors, and Autobot Colonels, each amounting to one thousand for all of the subgroups that Cuervosplicer summoned.
The ten thousand and ten Autobots make their way throughout the jungle utilizing mission markers that Cuervosplicer's drones provided.
Upon stumbling upon a huge rock blocking the way, Bumblebee said, "Please, allow me to blast that rock."
Mirage asks, "You're gonna blast those rocks? Be my guest."
Bumblebee charges up a blast and fires, destroying the rock blocking the way.
Upon making it to a cliff overlooking a large enough temple, the Autobots could see that it's already morning.
Cuervosplicer states, "If I remember correctly, Sideswipe should be held in a stasis suspension cell hidden underneath that temple. But activating its console will cause the whole place to shift and summon a Decepticon Enforcer. And the Decepticon Enforcers are said to be among the toughest Decepticons in Megatron's army."
Mirage asks, "How tough are these so-called Enforcers, on a scale of 1 to 10?"
Cuervosplicer replies, "On a scale of 1 to 10, I'd say a solid 10."
Mirage then says, "Then we shouldn't waste anymore time."
Mirage is handed a sniper rifle that acts like a combination of a sniper rifle and a harpoon cannon, completely loaded with reprogramming harpoons to reprogram the Decepticons posted at the temple.
Mirage successfully reprograms the Decepticons posted at the temple.
After converging at the temple/holding cells' control panel, Mirage activates the whole thing.
Soon, the temple starts to shift as it changes to its true form, surrounded by an Energon-based electric force field temporarily preventing anyone from transforming to Stealth Force mode or vehicle mode.
Then, all of a sudden, as Cuervosplicer predicted, a Decepticon Enforcer popped up out of nowhere to challenge the numerous Autobots to a fight.
Despite the sheer numbers, the Enforcer proved to be a tough combatant, as Cuervosplicer also predicted.
Thankfully, the sheer numbers combined with Mirage's Damage Booster ability managed to help his comrades win against the Enforcer long enough to reprogram him.
Mirage quietly remarks, "He wasn't so tough."
Soon, Sideswipe's holding cell rises to the surface and deactivates, allowing him to escape it.
Sideswipe remarks, "Feels good to be out of that thing!"
Mirage asks, "So, you got yourself captured, huh?"
Sideswipe answers, "Actually, I was found out because the 'Con patrols were heavy due to their tight security. But I did stumble onto something big. It turns out these ruins are built over some kind of ancient Cybertronian space port."
Bumblebee asks, "Is that right?"
Sideswipe replies, "Yes, and they've already started the countdown for their launch."
Mirage muses, "That explains what happened to the pyramid. Are you catching any of this, Major Reynolds?"
Major Reynolds replies, "Yeah. Sounds like we've got a launch to stop."
Cuervosplicer interjects, "Beetlewing managed to have the majority of the Decepticons here reprogrammed, but even still, Starscream is most likely gonna delay us long enough for the launch to start. So, we better get a move on!"
Beetlewing calls out, "Heads up! We've got company!"
Cuervosplicer uses his new Omni Harpoon Rocket Barrage ability – possibly a mocking of Starscream's Omni Rocket Barrage ability – to reprogram the thirty or so Decepticons trying to ambush him and his comrades.
As the numerous Autobots – old and new – progress throughout the complex of stone walkways and ledged platforms, Cuervosplicer uses his Omni Harpoon Rocket Barrage ability to reprogram the numerous Decepticons dispatched to stop them by none other than Starscream.
After making it to the final passageway to the launch site, the numerous Autobots are witness to Starscream arriving on the scene.
Starscream flies into the scene in jet mode, only to revert to robot mode.
Starscream snarls, "It never fails, that I must do everything if I want it done right!"
Starscream takes notice of Cuervosplicer as the Autobot Lieutenant Commander remarks, "Starscream! I've been waiting for round two!"
Cuervosplicer fires his Death Machine Guns at the Decepticon Air Commander, getting multiple hits in one shot.
Starscream dodges the rest of the shots and fires his Scrapmaker at the Autobot Lieutenant Commander while saying, "You should've gone back to base at the bridge, Autobot!"
Cuervosplicer fires his two Fusion Cannons as he replies, "First of all, MY NAME IS CUERVOSPLICER! And secondly, I'm not one to back down from a fight, even if I'm vastly outnumbered!"
Starscream dodges the Fusion Cannon blasts as he replies back, "Your courage plays tricks on you, Cuervosplicer! You won't stand a chance against my full army!"
Starscream's remaining fifty thousand Decepticon Assaulters, Decepticon Enforcers, Decepticon Melee Warriors, Combaticon Snipers, Combaticon Warriors and Decepticon Soldiers surround the entire area, daring Cuervosplicer to try anything.
Cuervosplicer remarks casually, "Looks like you got me. But you forgot two things: first, I'm one hundred percent invulnerable to physical damage. And secondly..." His Autobot comrades, including the reprogrammed Decepticons, arrive on the scene, amounting to sixty thousand. Cuervosplicer finishes as he aims his Riot Cannon at Starscream, "...I always bring backup."
Cuervosplicer uses his Omni Harpoon Rocket Barrage ability again, reprogramming every Decepticon soldier in the vicinity, except Starscream.
Starscream is blown back by a shot from Cuervosplicer's Riot Cannon, but he retreats in jet mode as he sneers, "Argggh! You haven't won anything! Look, the launch has begun!"
The ship launches from the temple while the gathered Autobots look on helplessly.
Mirage contacts Optimus at Autobot Headquarters and says, "Optimus, the Decepticons just launched a ship from the Mayan temple!"
Optimus replies, "We have a visual. We're tracking it now."
The End.
(Author's notes: Yes, I purposely omitted the gameplay featuring Mirage navigating through the jungle to rendezvous with the N.E.S.T helicopter for supplies and repairs because, as you may have forgotten, Cuervosplicer already saved Mirage from Starscream.
Additionally, in the fourth chapter titled Hidden Volcanic Base, Soundwave's plan to destroy Wheeljack's secret laboratory will be successful on the outside. BUT, on the inside, thanks to Cuervosplicer's foreknowledge, all of the MechTech weaponry that was supposed to be destroyed will be instantly teleported to Autobot Headquarters one hour before Soundwave makes landfall. In addition to all of the generic Autobot troops that Soundwave and Laserbeak will have already defeated.
Next-to-last, in the fifth chapter, the MechTech prototypes will also have been transported to the undisclosed location of Autobot Headquarters by Cuervosplicer just one hour before Starscream reaches the N.E.S.T base in Nepal. On top of that, there'll be clones of Stratosphere and the Aerialbots that Starscream kills in the chapter, as planned by Cuervosplicer to save Stratosphere and the Aerialbots from certain doom.
Lastly, in the sixth chapter, during the fight between Warpath and Megatron, the Decepticon leader will have killed a clone of Warpath, as its disintegration upon being defeated will be evidenced.
See you all in chapter four.)
