A/N: Brief heads up, Michael is a non-binary.

A distant mountain in the World of Trophies, a rock was mounted in a cave. The rock was oddly black. It was positioned near the center of the cave were a few rays of light could reflect of it.

And strangely enough, the rock seemed to be enjoying the light. A million years of just receiving light made the rock... feel powerful. The black rock began to rumble slowly. It rose from the ground before revealing its true form.

The rock was a pure black creature almost like a prism. It had arms and legs with a triangular head. The creature felt the light on its skin, much to its joy. The light was the source of its power. Having been locked away in that dreaded form, light was the only thing keeping it alive. But with the light, he became hungry for more. He wanted to have enough to reach his true form. And then he would reign destruction upon this world, like it did in Ultra Megalopolis before Arceus interfered and strained it in a world without light, leaving it drained a weak. It was thanks to a cascade of light that it thought would free him but an unfortunate occurrence caused it to become a spirit. It was housed in the body of the genetic legendary that claimed to be the strongest. When it was freed though and returned to its proper body, it was weak. So to preserve strength, it became dormant slowly waiting for its return.

It let out a cry and fled to find a source of light.

The cry didn't go unnoticed.

At Smash HQ, a white haired teenager with a white tank top, black shorts, and strangely a violet tail -Michael- was mediating. Having the host of the Genetic Pokémon let them have extraordinary psychic abilities. Mediating was a hobby Michael did in the real world and secluded themselves from human interaction. But overtime after the Melee War, they opened up to potential friends. Most notable is Phoebe, the one who opened them up to people.

'Thinking again?' Their spirit, Mewtwo, mused. "I am currently working on my Psychic abilities prior to my self-interest," the non-binary responded with eyes closed, "You talking to me doesn't aid me in concentrating."

The Genetic Pokémon shook his head in displeasure, 'What you are doing is closing yourself off again. I remember during the Melee War that's what you did until the electric female opened you up to friends.'

"Mewtwo, as much as I like to talk to a fellow psychic, I think its best if I we-" Michael started before getting a headache that Mewtwo felt as well.

"W-what was that?" the host asked. 'I am unsure, but it sounded familiar to me,' Mewtwo admitted.

"Another threat?" Michael questioned, "Can one just wait till after the fifth tournament?"

'Unlikely,' the Psychic legendary said, 'Most threats in this world are dealt with before the tournament. Except that brief one that happened before the Subspace invasion but then there was the second tournament with the newcomers.'

"Then what was it? Felt like some sort of Psychic cry..." Michael told their host. The non-binary then used his Psychic powers to sense the disturbance. Without putting too much strain on their abilities, Michael didn't sense the source of the cry.

"Any chance, you could recognize whatever that was," the host asked their spirit. 'Unfortunately, no,' was the response. "Well, if it's a future threat. Perhaps I could use that one move," Michael thought aloud before performing Future Sight. And the vision they got scared him.

The vision showed a giant four winged golden light that radiated light so bright it nearly blinded them from just glimpsing at it. In the dragon's hands were themselves, almost to the verge of death.

Canceling the Future Sight, Michael came back and swallowed their fear. Whatever this threat was, it seemed powerful to put them on the verge of dying.

'Impossible...' Mewtwo said as he had seen the Future Sight himself. "So you do know what that was," the host told their spirit. 'A threat from my universe. Capable of destruction even too great for one trainer. It calls itself Necromza, the Blinding One, the Prism Prince. That was its Ultra Form. What we heard must have been its original form.'

"Is there anyway to prevent that thing from reaching its Ultra Form?" Michael asked, the thought of facing that creature made their skin crawl. 'Perhaps in its base form, we could stop it,' Mewtwo admitted, 'But it might be a long shot.' "Well, it's better than nothing," the non-binary responded, "How would we find it?"

'... From my knowledge, Necromza is lured to light...' Mewtwo remembered. "So any bright places are our best chance then," Michael concluded.

In the training room, a male teenager who had blue hair, skin, muscle shirt, tail, and black combat gloves -Lewis- concentrated his unique ability of Aura, courtesy of his spirit, Lucario. He had his eyes closed and was scanning the area.

In an instant, he shot up and formed Bone Rush to whack an incoming projectile. He batted more projectiles as they came before using Extreme Speed and ran away from the onslaught.

In another part of the training room, another teenager with blue hair, wet suit, combat gloves, and an unusual long pink scarf -Grant- had conjured to water kunais, slashing at enemies in the simulator. He withdrew his kunais before summoning Night Slash blades and cut through multiple opponents. He morphed into a shadow with Shadow Sneak before using his tongue to wrap multiple opponents together and slam them in the ground.

And finally, watching TV was a semi-built teenager with black hair in a red muscle tank top, shorts, with red fur and tail with black stripes -Ignacio-. He was a newcomer, being the host of Incineroar, and a wrestler for Nintendo High.

"You know," Lewis grunted as he fired a Flash Cannon towards a projectile, "Ignacio, you could," he fired a Dragon Pulse towards another projectile, "do some," Lewis conjured Double Team, teleporting out of the line of sight, "training instead of," he performed a rapid assortment of Bullet Punches, deflecting multiple objects, "watching reruns," before using Blaze Kick, sending a projectile into another.

"Eh," Ignacio shurgged, "You have your training methods and I have mine. You are talking to the captain of the wrestling team!" the Heel Pokemon host boasted.

"And did you get that position by sitting around watching TV?" Grant asked rhetorically before using Night Slash to cut through multiple simulated enemies.

"Ugh," the wrestler groaned, "Look, I'm new to this. Do you think I could at least watch what my 'spirit' as you have put it, can do before performing?"

"He... does have a point," Grant noted, "I mean when I was first pulled in, I learned on the fly." 'Incineroar has always been one of the more boastful, arrogant type of fighters. He loves when the crowd cheers for him. No doubt Ignacio's traits are the same,' Grant's spirit, Greninja, added.

"Alright, then. Prove what you know," Lewis demanded, "on the battlefield," gesturing to the platform with the void. "Well, if you are so eager to be beat, who am I to judge?" Ignacio said before he and Lewis made their way over.

'Um, I'm not one to bet,' Incineroar told Ignacio, 'But Lucario, let alone Lewis, has been here longer than me. Pretty sure you don't want to fight him.' "Chillax, 'Roar," Ignacio reassured, "I have studied your moves from the recordings. I got this."

Both hosts made it to the stage, which transformed into Spear Pillar. "What's with the ruins?" The wrestler said. "This is Spear Pillar, a stage from the universe where our spirits are from," Lewis informed before getting in a ready stance. Ignacio grinned, showing his feline like teeth before getting in a wrestling position.

"3... 2... 1... GO!"

"Watch and learn!" Ignacio shouted before punching the ground, causing fire pillars to shoot up from the ground. 'Such arrogance...' Lewis thought before conjuring Water Pulse that doused the Fire Pledge. Lewis rushed in with two elongated claws, one being Metal Claw and the other being Shadow Claw. Ignacio elongated his own claws, both with Dual Chop and matched the two claw based attacks. Ignacio and Lewis matched each others strength before Ignacio grabbed the host of the Fighting/Steel type and used Brutal Swing that sent him flying.

Lewis caught himself and used Extreme Speed to dash back in and nailed an Iron Head straight in the wrestler's chest. Ignacio replied with Superpower, getting a few distance back. The host of the Aura Pokémon unleashed Metal Sound, which greatly irritated the host of the Heel Pokémon.

His response was Fire Blast that Lewis smirked at. The blue furred teenager used Fire Punch, which absorbed the Fire Blast and rushed with a Close Combat version of Fire Punch. Ignacio was pummeled nonstop with the Fire type attack and staggered back. "Had enough?" Lewis questioned.

"Far from it!" Ignacio grinned, shaking off the attack and punched the ground for an Earthquake. The Ground type move briefly disoriented Lewis and Ignacio rushed in for Alolan Whip, where he lariated the Aura user. Ignacio raised his hands in the air in celebration as Lewis rolled away and decided to go for a new tactic.

Lewis started with Swords Dance and Calm Mind. Ignacio took the chance when his opponent used Calm Mind to barrel towards with Flare Blitz. Luckily, Lewis gracefully dodged the host of the Heel Pokemon, due to his aura sensing. Opening his eyes, the host of the Aura Pokémon fired a Dragon Pulse. The wrestler was left wide open to the Dragon type attack, giving him a bit of a daze.

Shaking it off, Ignacio decided to get going with his host 'signature move'. Spinning around, he performed Darkest Lariat intent on hitting his opponent. What he failed to do was take into the account of spinning at such speeds. He loss focus on his target and struck a pillar. Lewis secretly snickered and smirked before going for a grand finale.

Channeling all of his current aura, Lewis leapt to the sky and fired Aura Storm, Lucario's Final Smash. He bombarded the wrestler nonstop with aura energy to the point he collapsed from the intense energy.

The simulation sensed the defeat and ended leaving Ignacio slightly bruised and scorched. "How was that?" Lewis asked rhetorically. "Uhhhhhhhh..." Ignacio said before fainting on the spot.

Michael levitated in the archive room, trying to find anything about Necromza or any light based places in the World of Trophies. After skimming through his fifth book, they dropped the book and nearly burnt it with Flamethrower out of sheer frustration.

"Ugh, why can't I find a single book about Necromza or light based areas?!" Michael vented. Mewtwo's essence hovered around his host, seeing they were clearly stressed from the whole ordeal. 'Michael, perhaps I can make a suggestion,' Mewtwo offered.

"If you are suggesting help, forget it," Michael declined, "I believe that this threat was meant for us to defeat, so it shall be."

Mewtwo shook his head at the non-binary's reply. 'Independence is not always the best solution. Remember your first days as my host?'

"Yes..." Michael bitterly replied, "but this is different. Future Sight showed us at the hands of that Pokémon. And we will handle it myself, so no one will get in our way."

Mewtwo shook his head again, 'Necromza is more powerful than you think. Even Arceus struggled against it.'

"So what, do I need work with someone?" Michael rolled their eyes at the thought. "As you have mentioned before, I wield the powers of a Legendary which in your world is powerful."

'It is,' Mewtwo reconfirmed, 'But some can be beaten.' Michael became silent at that information. True, they were occasionally defeated but those were against skilled fighters. "... perhaps you have a point. Maybe a few could help..."

'Any friends come to mind?' Mewtwo asked.

"Not friends... more like acquaintances," the non-binary responded.
