In the ruins of the sky temple, a citizen was running for his life. He ran with worry, hoping whatever was chasing him. He had wings but they were burned from the threat. The citizen knew he had only a few seconds of life left. The idea terrified him of death.

The creature hunting him was to devoted to a lost clause. A hope that many dismissed after the first time it appeared. The citizen decided to take a risk by catching his breath.

Which soon was a mistake.

A pebble from one of the ruins fell down rumble causing the citizen to freeze on the spot. Slowly turning his head, he got a glimpse of a white wing. His purser had found him. The citizen did his best to conceal his appearance, scared of what the creature were to do to him if caught.

Hiding behind rumble, he waited until his purser gave up on the hunt. The shadow of his hunter retreated, giving the citizen a chance to let out a breath of relief.

Before being tackled by his hunter.

The eyes of the hunter were red and the face had a malicious intent. Six sets of wings were on the back, some sharply pointed down at the prey. "W-wh- why," the citizen croaked out as the hunter was choking the life out of the citizen. "For the one true goddess..." the hunter said nonchalantly as if he wasn't attempting to kill someone, "she will return. And when she does, she shall see my devotion towards her and rebuild this place to a better state."

"Y-your love for her..." the citizen commented as he continued to lose his life, "... is nothing more than... than... a lost cause."

"Maybe," the hunter dismissed, "but I could care less at this point. You people fear her when you should love her. Darkness as been silent since her imprisoment and light as reigned for ages now."

"You lust for her and fighting is ridiculous!" the citizen managed to say as the archangel shrugged before the the rant continued, "we are supposed to be a peaceful place now. And your devotion to a goddess who was destined to either help or kill us with her duality powers have scared thousands! Without her, we could live peacefully!"

The archangel rolled his eyes, "This has officially bored me. Tell everyone on the other side that she will return." In a surprise, two wings detached from his back before he stood up.

"H-how?" the citizen managed to say. "A new trick I learned hunting all of you down. Comes in handy when dealing with multiple people at once."

"Someone will stop you..." the dying citizen said to which the archangel just smirked. "I am gifted by the abilities of the true goddess!" He shouted before plunging his two detached sharp wings through the citizen. "Who is there to stand in my way?" The archangel's detached wings rose with the body in their primary feathers before following the fallen being as he walked to his hideout with malice as repeated himself, "Who has the power to stand in my way..."

"OH! COME ON!" A brown haired teenager in a white toga with wings -Peter- cried before slumping to floor in defeat. "Perhaps next time, you will learn not to boast some much," another teenager with long green hair in a Greek styled outfit -Penelope- lectured, "and also not to repeat the same thing over and over again."

"Ugh," a teenager with black hair, a few piercings, in a black toga with dark wings -David- groaned in the background before continuing to read his dark novel. "You and I both know that he will just repeat."

"That's not completely true!" Peter retorted, "I learn from my mistakes!" "Yeah, after about twenty or so times, give or take," David quipped.

"You know, just cause your the host of the more down-to-earth angel doesn't make you exactly like him," Peter said. David just rolled his eyes at that statement and returned to his novel.

Peter and Penelope were doing mock battles in the simulator as David "watched." Peter, the host of Pit, was attempting to win against Penelope, the host of Palutena, to prove that an angel can do better than a goddess which was led with disastrous results the last fifteen times.

"One more time! Please! Please! Please!" Pit practically begged. The green haired girl just rolled her eyes before readying the simulator again. "Alright, alright. But this is the last time. Promise?"

"Pinky swear!" Peter said before raising to his feet and split his bow into two. Penelope readied herself by summoning her spirit's staff and shield as the her symbol shined behind her. The stage appeared resembling Skyworld.

"3... 2... 1... GO!"

Peter took off first going in with Upperdash Arm which Penelope responded with Reflect Barrier, stalling the move long enough for her to levitate away. Peter pulled out the First Blade and fired at Penelope who evaded each shot. The host of the goddess casted Celestial Firework for her position, hitting Peter as it did.

Blown back, Peter caught himself and began to channel the Power of Flight (as he could access it on his own) to reach his opponent. Penelope casted herself with Aries' Armor just as Peter rushed with the Tiger Claws as he began to scratch nonstop. Aries' Armor helped lessen the damage along with her shield as the host of Pit rushed nonstop. Peter eventually broke off the attack and flew back a bit.

"Getting tired are we?" Penelope said. "Nope! Just thinking," Peter replied, hiding the fact that he needed a better strategy. All these melee and range attacks did almost nothing to damage the host of Palutena.

"Well if you aren't going to attack now, perhaps it's my turn," Penelope said before casting Transparency on herself. Peter groaned, having learned to hate that ability. He then pulled out his Guardian Orbitars, creating a shield around himself to prevent any attacks from hitting him.

"Is he still at it?" An African American female with long black braids dressed in a black spandex like outfit with red guns at her heels and various moon based jewelry-Bella- asked as she enter the room and joined David in the stands. "Yep," the host of Dark Pit replied, not looking up from his novel.

"I do hope he finishes soon," another female commended on as she entered the room and joined them. She is a Caucasian-Japanese mix with short black hair in a black and light grey spandex outfit with blue guns at her heels as well -Bailey-. "Depends if he knows when to admit defeat," David replied.

"... So not anytime soon then," Bella responsed.

"Yep. Get comfy. Brought a few more novels for me to read. Help yourself I you find anything worth reading," David said.

Back in the arena, Peter let down his Guardian Orbitars and readied his Upperdash Arms. Penelope's Transparency eventually ended and she came in with Angelic Missile, nailing Peter in the side. "Ugh," Peter groaned before rushing in with his Upperdash Arms still in the air.

Penelope fired Autoreticle, attempting to shoot the angel possessed individual. Peter weaved and dodged under the assortment of lasers she shot, even reflecting a few. Peter unequipped his Arms before changing to Capricorn Club. Swinging it hard, he managed to hit...

Empty air.

Penelope Warped behind him, smirking as she did. "Impressive, but unfortunately," she said, "time to wrap this up." Waving her staff, she used Meteor Shower, causing comets to spawn and strike Peter before casting Eggplant Attack. The spell hit Peter, who became an eggplant with only his legs showing. "Checkmate!" Penelope shouted and fired a concentrated blast of holy light at the vegetable turned human.

The blast caused in explosion and resulted in Peter reverting back to his trophy form. The simulation ended and Penelope hovered over the trophy before reviving it. "Was the Eggplant Attack necessary?" was the first thing the brunette said. "Well it was either that, Instant Death, or Tempura Attack," she admitted before offering her hand. Peter reluctantly took it before going off on his own, using the Power of Flight to cross the distant void that separate the arena from the audience.

"What I don't get is why he wants to fight me out of everyone here?" Penelope wondered aloud. 'Well, I'm not sure the reason either,' Her spirit, Palutena admitted, 'Pit was a bit stubborn at times too. During the Subspace, Master Core incident, and World of Light, Pit often kept a cool head but I'm not sure what is wrong with him right now. I recommend just giving him some space.' "If you say so," Penelope agreed before she heard a flutter behind her. Turning around, Penelope was greeted with Bailey, who reverted back from Crow Within.

"Talking to the goddess again?" Bailey asked with a British accent, twirling Love is Blue on her right thumb. "Bailey, I rather not battle right now," the host of the goddess admitted before Warping away.

"Hard to get, darling? Eh, not worth the chase," Bailey said before walking over to the control center and generated holographic enemies. Bailey smirked, readying herself with Love is Blue and began to fire Bullet Arts.

In the stands, David finished his novel and realized that Bailey was using the training room now as Bella was reading a novel herself. "Ugh. Where is that angel now?" David said before leaving, "Bella, I want that book back before you leave."

"Yeah, yeah," Bella waved off as she became engrossed in her novel.

'Are we going to talk about why you challenged the Palutena of Skyworld to a match?' Pit asked Peter as they entered his quarters. "No reason," Peter said. 'Come on. I know that look. I practically invented that look,' the angel said.

"It's just... I want to be better," Peter admitted. "Fighting a Goddess would surely help me right?"

'Well, I don't want to as human say 'sugarcoat' it. Palutena's tough. She possibly one of the strongest fighters here! I hate to admit it but only a few characters could possibly match her at full power. She usually holds back unless she or her allies need her.'

"Her placing says otherwise..." Peter muttered, "I just want to be stronger, you know? Who knows what our next threat might be?"

'Hey, we all have a role to play in defending this world!' Pit exclaimed.

"Yeah, yeah, I know... it's just tha-" Peter began before his head began to hurt. The host nearly faltered to his feet while clutching his head in agony from the sheer headache. After a while the headache disappeared. "What on Earth was that?" Peter questioned.

'I'm drawing a blank,' Pit admitted, 'It's like a disturbance.'

"A disturbance?" Peter repeated, "How can there be a disturbance? We defeated Master Core weeks ago! Is it possible that he came back?" Peter began to visualize Master Core reappearing and striking down each Smasher with his Giant form.

'I doubt its Master Core,' Pit reassured his host, 'But it felt like a shift in balance.' "Shift in balance? Of what?" Peter asked. 'Not sure at the moment. Perhaps Penelope knows. She is the host of the Goddess of Light,' Pit suggested.

"No need," Penelope said as she opened Peter's room. "I got the disturbance too. The power of light seems to be fluctuating at a great rate. As if someone is using it for evil."

"So no Master Core? Because there is no way something with that much darkness would have that power over light," Peter mused.

'More than you know...' the angel and goddess spirits thought.

"Anyways, according to Palutena, the disturbance came from the Sky Ruins. Where we first met each other and battled Dark Link," Penelope informed.

"So we're going to the Sky Ruins," David announced, leaning against the wall.

"Uh... we?" Peter said.

"Did I stutter?" David replied.
