Alexa stalked around the rooftops of a shabby looking club, Diana had finally got D's infrared CCTV piggybacking software to run, searching out vampires out in the open before they attack, or even in their lairs like the nest she was hovering over. So now that school was over this was how she would spend her days, waiting for D to return, waiting for Tristan and Sarah to finish work. She threw open a roof window and crawled inside. Latching onto anything that could support her as she set small explosives along the rafters. The building wasn't lucky enough to host an attic, and she had planned accordingly. She dropped down silently. In her earpiece she could hear the very faint static of Diana watching her every move, silent as death to avoid waking the undead.
She followed her nose to find the foul creatures resting places. At a back 'staff' room she pushed the door silently, revealing a secret passage deep underground leading to an extensive, tacky, plasticy, gothic decorated basement. The vampires were strewn across the floor, and immense four poster beds, most semi nude, black leather covering some parts. She couldn't smell any humans and Diana had assured her there were no heat signature warmer than room temperature vampires before she set out. It was time to wake the undead. She bent over and staked the closest to the door, stealthily finishing another two off before any stirred. Within a few moments she was made, the gun came out, she dodged around attacks from every direction. Shooting some point blank, others at the end of the room, she lead them up the passageway sure footed as if she had been facing the right direction. She lead them up to the main dance floor, glancing briefly at the sheer body of them, there must have been at least 60 before she'd started. She allowed them to surround her pulling out her wooden edged sword as she pressed the trigger to the roof explosives. All she caught thereafter from the vampires were shrikes of pain, the sent of burning flesh, and the soft touches of the ashes landing on her small parts of exposed skin. "Did I get all of them?"
"Oh yes, all I can see now is you honey. What I have found is another cluster in Plymouth." Diana's voice was crisp yet distant, as if waiting for Alexa to say she was done for the day. But the hunter just got onto her bike and headed further west.
The next week Alexa found herself stalking the canal way by the centre of Birmingham, she thought houseboats were a terrible place for a vampires to reside and didn't dwell for one moment for as she threw the aquatic life friendly under water garlic grenades ever couple of miles. Found the boat containing the vampires and tipped it all the way over. The fanged monster swam out hissing in pain, it's flesh melting in the water, then as it bubbled, realising that the sun was out too, boiling and burning the vampire, fully disintegrating as it reached Alexa's Adidas clad feet on the canal side. That was that. Tristan promised to pick her up at the station this afternoon, she was looking forward to pushing his buttons all moon long at the cabin. Was this what true happiness was, purpose and someone to share it with?
