Chapter 7.
Stiles' Dam.
(Scott POV)
Ellie, Chloe and I make it to Wyoming and we see a sign on our mountain trail.
"Jackson County. That means we're close to Jackson City, Right?" Ellie said.
"Shouldn't be more than a few miles I said.
You ready to see your dear old Brother and uncle," Ellie said.
"I'm just ready to get there," I said
"You nervous?" Ellie said.
"I don't know what I'm feeling," I said.
Then we made it to the top and found the road washes out ahead.
"So much for this road," Ellie said.
"We just follow the river. It'll lead us straight to Stiles'. C'mon," Chloe said.
"What happened between you three anyway?" Ellie said.
"What do you mean?" I said.
"You and Stiles. You're no together, So clearly something went down," Ellie said.
"We just had a bit of a disagreement. That's all," I said.
"Uncle Stiles saw the world one way. We saw it another," Chloe said.
"And that's why he joined the Fireflies?" Ellie said.
"Yeah, your friend Marlene promised him hope. That kept him busy for awhile, but just like Stiles. He eventually quit that too," I said.
"More like he just fucking up and left. Some family we are," Chloe said.
"How was it, The last time you saw him?" Ellie said.
"I believe his last words to me were I don't ever want to see your god damned face again," I said.
"Geez but he's gonna help us," Ellie said.
"I suppose we're gonna find out," Chloe said.
"Well with or without his help, we'll get there," Ellie said.
"Let's just keep going," I said.
Then we come to a Hydroelectric plant.
"Whoa, What's that?" Ellie said.
"That there is a hydroelectric power plant," Chloe said.
"A hydro who?" Ellie said.
"It uses the river's movement and turn it into electricity," I said.
"How's it do that?" Ellie said.
"I know what it is and does not how it does it," I said.
"Alright how are we getting across," Ellie said.
Then I find a crank to make one half of the thin bridge.
"Well that get us halfway. if we get the other one up we'll make it across," Ellie said.
Then I managed to salvage a pallet stuck to a sunken building. "Alright, Ellie, I need you to," I said.
"I know step on the fucking pallet," Ellie said then I ferry her to the other side where the other crank was as I swam back and Chloe helped me out of the water and we made it back. "Go on give it a spin,"
"Hey be careful crossing that thing," Ellie said.
"We will," Chloe said then we went over.
Then we got across and Ellie got Chloe to high 5 her.
Then nearby is a dirt mound with a teddy bear on it.
"That's too small of a grave," I said.
"I forgot to leave that stupid robot on his grave. What should I do with it?" Ellie said.
"Ellie," I said.
"What? I want to talk about it," Ellie said.
"No," I said.
"Why not?" Ellie said.
"How many times do we need to go over this? Things happen and we move on," I said.
"It's just," Ellie said.
"That's enough," I said.
"You're right, Sorry," Ellie said.
"Let's get to Stiles'," Chloe said.
"Aughh, I'm so hungry," Ellie said.
"I know," I said.
"We all are," Chloe said.
"Alright next squirrel I see. I'm totally shooting it," Ellie said.
"Let's get past this place then we can scrounge up some food," I said.
"Well If I starve you're responsible," Ellie said.
We go around the dam but the road leading out is blocked by equipment.
"Should we head in?" Ellie said.
"Ain't no way around gonna have to cut through the plant," I said.
I go and try to open the large doors but survivor with guns appear.
"Don't even think about reaching for your weapons. Tell the girl to drop her's, Now," She said.
"Ellie do as she says," Chloe said.
"Okay," Ellie said.
"Please tell me you're lost," She said.
"We didn't know the place was occupied. We're just trying to make our way through," I said.
"Through to where?" She said.
"They're alright," Stiles said.
"What, you know these people," She said.
"I know 2 of them," Stiles said Then the gate opens. "These 2 are my goddamn brother and Niece,"
"Stiles," I said.
"Holy shit," Stiles said.
Then we hug each other.
"How you doing bro," I said.
"Goddamn," Stiles said.
"Yeah," I said letting go.
"Chloe," Stiles said hugging her.
"Uncle Stiles," Chloe said the Stiles let her go only to get wrack.
"OI, What was that for?" Stiles said.
"Oh you remember for leaving us," Chloe said.
"You got fucking old. You look so much like your Mum," Stiles said. "Scott, Geez you got fucking old,"
"Easy, it's gonna happen to you too," I said.
"Take it you remember Lydia," Stiles said.
"Lyd," I said.
"Hey, Scott," Lydia said hugging me.
"Thanks for not shooting me" I said.
"Well you are my Brother in law," Lydia said.
"Finally, You and Stiles married," I said.
"Yeah, Look at you Chloe, I could have swore it was Allison right next to Scott," Lydia said.
"Hey Auntie Lydia," Chloe said hugging her.
"You really grew up to be your Mother," Lydia said.
"I know not like I heard that each day with Dad around," Chloe said.
"Oi," I said.
"Ellie right," Lydia said.
"Yeah," Ellie said.
"What brings you through here," Lydia said.
"Kind of a long story auntie Lyd," Chloe said.
"Why don't we bring them in," Stiles said.
"Yeah, You hungry?" Lydia said.
"Starving," Ellie said.
Then We headed in.
"False alarm they're friendlies, We've been dealing with raid. Lot of bandits in this area, Scott," Lydia said.
"It's been quiet for a few days," Stiles said.
"What the hell are you doing here? I though I'd find you in Jackson," I said.
"Been trying to bring the plant back to life," Stiles said.
"We had it working before but one of the Turbines went south," Lydia said.
"Chloe a minute," Lydia said.
"Sure," Chloe said then them 2 walked off.
"What's that all about?" Stiles said.
"No idea," I said.
(Chloe POV)
"What is the deal with Ellie. It's like she is Familiar," Lydia said.
"Like Hayden," I said.
"Yeah," Lydia said. "Like Her and Scott,"
"That makes it true then," I said.
"What?" Lydia said.
"Ellie doesn't know her Dad and I've been thinking for the last month or 2 that Ellie is Dad and Hayden's Daughter," I said.
"What?" Lydia said.
"Dad and Hayden found each other nearly 15 years ago. They were together and were going to have a child. But Dad got hurt one day doing smuggling and Hayden wanted Dad to stop it but He couldn't not after Sarah," I said. "Then one day Dad took me out just around the city and back in and found her gone. Now over the last month I been reading Ellie's mother Dairy and It mention Dad's high school. I really am sure now that Ellie is my step-sister,"
"But," Lydia said.
"Well, Both Dad and Hayden are werewolves right, So if Ellie really is their daughter then her wolf will activate this winter and we will know for sure," I said.
"Come on, We need to get back to that Dad of yours," Lydia said.
(Scott POV)
I saw Chloe and Lydia come back over.
"We have electricity, Scott, Had. We'll get it running again," Stiles said.
"No way. You guys have horses," Ellie said.
"We got a whole lot of them," Stiles said then he got called over and Lydia, Chloe and Ellie went to pat the horse. Then Stiles came back. "Let's continue the tour,"
"Earl?" Lydia said.
"Yeah," Earl said.
"Why are you here? Weren't you supposed to head back this morning?" Lydia said.
"Still waiting for Houser and the rest of the boys to relieve me," Earl said.
"We'll be fine. Just go home to your family," Lydia said.
"It's just a couple more hours, I'll tough it out," Earl said.
"Alright, Well take it easy," Lydia said.
"Lydia," The Radio went off.
"Yeah, go ahead," Lydia said.
"We're in the control room. Steve's about to start it back up. Do you wanna come check it out?" Radio said.
"I'd rather eat with Ellie and Chloe," Lydia said.
"It's my turn anyway, I'll go," Stiles said.
"I'll come with you," I said. "Go with Lydia and get some food into you,"
"Scott," Ellie said.
"Come on Ellie, Let those 2 talk," Chloe said.
Then Stiles takes me on a tour.
"This'll be the 6th time of them trying to get the turbines back online. We've been here just a week, but it feels like forever. I got something for you. Last year I went back to Beacon hills. Back home. Most of our stuff was long gone. Most of it. Here," Stiles said passing me a photo of Chloe, Sarah, Allison and I. "It's a little faded but it still looks pretty good,"
"I'm good," I said passing it back.
"Your sure?" Stiles said.
"I said I'm good," I said.
"Okay, I'll hold onto it for you," Stiles said.
"Stiles, I need to talk to you privately," I said.
"Yeah, Okay let me just check on my guys real quick, C'mon. I don't know what you heard, but you should see the town. We're over 20 families strong now. It was Lydia and her Mum, They set up this place that had the idea of being self sustained. We got crops and livestock. Remember how we thought that no one could live like this anymore? Well, we doing it," Stiles said.
"Give it up, You ain't saving that turbine,"
"Oh. I'll get it. Been at it for too long to give up now," 2 guys were saying.
Then I find a woman on sentry duty.
"Your new around here," She said.
"Yeah, Scott, Stiles'," I said.
"Brother. Word travels quickly around these parts," She said.
"Apparently," I said.
"Don't really see the resemblance. But the way you hold yourself is exactly the same as Stiles," She said.
"I know, Don't catch your name," I said.
"Mal," Mal said.
"It's nice meeting you," I said.
"You too," Mal said.
Then Stiles start taking me on.
"What do you do for protection," I said.
"The adults take turns guarding the perimeter. We even got an electrified fence when the plant's up and running," Stiles said.
"You still gotta deal with those infected though, Right?" I said.
"Who doesn't? But that's the world we live in," Stiles said.
"Well, maybe it don't have to be," I said.
"You sound like Marlene," Stiles said.
"Don't remind me about that bitch," I said.
Then we arrive at the far turbine station.
"These 2 geniuses are gonna bring this plant back to life," Stiles said.
"We think we got it this time,"
You don't believe us?" They said.
"I didn't say that," Stiles said.
"I bet you a million bucks it works," He said.
"Sure, Make it 2," Stiles said.
"We're almost ready. They just need to finish putting the shield back on," He said.
"No rush," Stiles said.
Then they put the shield back on and fire it up and the electricity comes back.
"Goddamn, We did it boys," They said.
"Nice work boys. Somebody get on the horn and give Lydia the good news, You see that?" Stiles said.
"Impressive. Looks like you're out of 2 million bucks," I said.
"Alright, Scott. Let's go talk," Stiles said. Then we enter the office.
"That's quite the crew you got here," I said.
"They're good men. This place gives them a second chance. It gives us all a second chance. So why'd you and Chloe leave Boston?" Stiles said.
"We've been on quite the adventure. Man," I said.
"I reckon it's got something to do with that little girl," Stiles said.
"It's got everything to do with that little girl," I said.
"Well, Come on," Stiles said.
"She's immune," I said.
"Immune to what? Oh C'mon," Stiles said.
"Man I know. I've seen her breathe enough spores to take down a dozen people and nothing. I wouldn't have believe it neither but I can show you," I said.
"I'll bite, Why bring her here?" Stiles said.
"Chloe and I was supposed to deliver her to the fireflies. The way I see it they're your boys you finish the job with Chloe and collect the whole damn payment," I said.
"I haven't seen a Firefly in years," Stiles said.
"But you know where they are. Now I'm not asking for much, Stiles I just want some simple gear enough to set me on my way," I said.
"What makes you think I'd do this for you?" Stiles said.
"This isn't for me, Stiles. This is for your fucking cause," I said.
"My cause is my family now, You ain't talking about some walk in the park here," Stiles said.
"Jesus. Stiles. Get Lydia to get some of your born again friends to do it," I said.
"They got families too," Stiles said.
"Stiles, I need this," I said.
"You want some gear fine. But I'm not taking that girl off your hands," Stiles said.
"This is how you going to repay me huh," I said.
"Repay you?" Stiles said.
"For all those goddamn years I took care of us," I said.
"Took care? That's what you call it? I got nothing but nightmares from those years," Stiles said.
"You survived because of me," I said.
"It wasn't worth it. Not after seeing what you had become," Stiles said.
"You really think that things could be the same since then huh. I fucking lose Sarah for fuck sake. First Allison Then her. How else was I meant to go. Stiles. Huh Fucking tell me. I bring you the cure for mankind and you wanna play the pissy shit,"
"Not my problem anymore," Stiles said. "What about Chloe huh What do you want me to tell her you went,"
"Doesn't matter. She can go back to your fucking place," I said.
"Then what just left you to fucking die," Stiles said.
"Now you fucking care. You left completing forgetting back then what pack really meant. We never left each other behind and you went ahead and did that! Did you not even think what that would do to Chloe!" I said. "No you fucking didn't after everything we been through since that night,"
Then an alarm goes off.
"The fuck is that?" I said.
"We're under attack," Stiles said.
"Shit! Bandits,"
"Stop them. Don't let them into the building," They said.
"Let get a move on," Stiles said.
The we take out the local enemies.
"You guys see anything?" Stiles said.
"We got them," He said.
"Let's get to the bridge," Stiles said as we started to get out of the building.
"Stiles, Scott, Bandits they're breaking into the building," Lydia said.
"Can you get out of there?" Stiles said.
"No. We're trapped.
"Lyd. We're on our way, Just hold on," I said.
"They're here, Ellie Chloe," Lydia said.
"Lydia," Stiles said.
"We need to move," I said.
"Damn right," Stiles said.
Then we got rid of the hunters on the bridge and headed on.
"That's all of those sons of bitches," He said.
"We gotta get to the girls," Stiles said.
"Right behind you," He said.
"Scott, Your up," Stiles said then we killed all the enemies in the cafeteria.
"They're all dead," Ellie said.
"Scott, Stiles," Lydia said.
"Lyd," Both Stiles and I said.
"I'm alright, All of us are," Lydia said.
"That was too fucking close," I said.
"You okay?" Stiles said as Lydia came out.
"Yeah, I'm fine,"
"Chloe," I said.
"I'm fine, Dad," Chloe said.
"Scott. Oh man they were coming in from every direction," Ellie said.
"Okay," I said.
"Then Lydia was like we gotta run," Ellie said
"Listen," I said.
"And so we dove over these tables and this huge guy blasts in with a shotgun," Ellie said.
"Slow down slow, down listen," I said.
"And then," Ellie said.
"Hey are you hurt?" I said.
"No," Ellie said.
"Goddamn it," Stiles said. "I need to talk to you,"
Then we were back outside in the compound yard.
"No. You tell him that they coming back with us," Lydia said.
"Lydia, I can't do that again to them," Stiles said.
"Do you know how many people we lost here today?" Lydia said.
"They pack, Remember," Stiles said.
"Hey, what's that all about? Does that have anything to do with me?" Ellie said.
"We'll talk about it later," I said.
"Did he tell you where the lab is?" Ellie said.
"He said later, Ellie," Chloe said.
"Later, Right," Ellie said.
"Lyd I have to do this," Stiles said.
"Fine," Lydia said then came over towards me. "Scott, you better bring them back you hear me,"
"We'll be back," I said.
Then Lydia left.
"She still loves you," Stiles said.
"I know, Me too," I said.
"I'll take her and Chloe there. You don't have to worry about it," Stiles said.
"It's best this way," I said.
"Maybe some real good will come of this," Stiles said.
"I need to talk with Chloe and Ellie," I said.
Then I go to find them but only found Chloe nearby.
"Dad you can't be serious. I'm not leaving you," Chloe said.
"Not for me but Ellie is why you are," I said.
"Then what just go back to Stiles' place and never see you again," Chloe said. "I can't lose you too,"
"Scott," Stiles said.
"What," I said.
"That girl of yours she took one of our horses and rode off," Stiles said.
"Damn it," I said.
"Which way?" Chloe said.
"C'mon," Stiles said.
Then we go to the gate.
"I saw her riding on outta here," He said.
"Go back inside. Help the others clean the place up," Stiles said.
"Okay, Be Careful out there," He said.
Then Chloe got on with Stiles and I got on mine and we headed out.
"Easy, Easy," I said.
"There," Stiles said.
"Yeah," I said.
"See the tracks? C'mon," Stiles said.
We ride down the deserted overgrown highway.
"She couldn't have gotten far, We'll find her. Don't worry," Stiles said.
"Stubborn kid," I said.
"She usually pull these stunts?" Stiles said.
"Nothing like this, I don't know what's going on," Chloe said.
"She didn't go down this way. Horse tracks. She went into these woods," Stiles said.
"Ellie, What the hell you thinking? There. More tracks," I said.
"Okay, Good," Stiles said.
Then we come across a hunter encampment and a Molotov spooks the horse and bucks me off.
"Whoa," I said.
"I got your back," Stiles said.
"How many do you see?" Chloe said.
"Too goddamn many," I said.
"Go around I'll cover you," Stiles said.
Then we kill all of them.
"That's all of them," Stiles said.
"C'mon. Back to the horses," I said.
Then we got back on and past the encampment.
"Tracks keep going this way," I said.
"Jut hope the didn't get to her," Chloe said.
Then we find a mountain ranch-house.
"Look. By the ranch. That's our horse. She's gotta be there," Stiles said.
"Area looks clear," I said.
"Be careful," Stiles said.
"I'm coming with you," Chloe said.
"Ellie," I said.
"Ellie," Chloe said.
"Up here," Ellie said.
"Jesus," I said.
"I'll keep an eye out, Reckon you guys need to have a chat," Stiles said.
Then Chloe and I head to an Girls old room upstairs. where Ellie was sitting by a window.
"Is this really all they had to worry about? Boys. Movies. Deciding which shirt goes with which skirt? It's bizarre," Ellie said.
"Get up," I said.
"We're leaving," Chloe said.
"And if I say no?" Ellie said.
"Do you even realize what your life means? Huh? Running off like that. Putting yourself at risk it's pretty goddamn stupid," I said.
"Well, I guess we're both disappointed with each other then," Ellie said.
"What do you want from me?" I said.
"Admit that you wanted to get rid of my the whole time," Ellie said.
"Stiles knows this area better than I do. Him and Chloe," I said.
"Fuck that," Ellie said.
"Well, I'm sorry I trust Stiles more than I trust myself," I said.
"Stop with the bullshit. What are you so afraid of? That I'm gonna end up like Sam? I can't get infected. I can take care of myself," Ellie said.
"How many close calls have we had?" I said.
"Well, we seem to be doing alright so far," Ellie said.
"And now you both will be doing even better with Stiles," I said.
"I'm not her, you know," Ellie said.
"Ellie," Chloe said.
"What?" I said.
"Lydia told me about Sarah, And I," Ellie said.
"Ellie, You are treading on some mighty thin Ice here," I said.
"I know about your daughter and her Sister Scott But I have lost people too," Ellie said.
"You have no idea what loss is," I said.
"Everyone I have cared for has either died or left me. Everyone fucking expect for you 2. So don't tell me that I would be safer with someone else. Because the Truth is I'd just be more scared," Ellie said.
Then Stiles came in.
"Get it together, We're not alone," Stiles said.
"I got 2 walking in," I said after checking the window.
"There's more inside already," Stiles said.
"Hang back," I said.
"Watch yourself," Chloe said as Me and Stiles went out to kill them
(Chloe POV)
Dad and Uncle Stiles just left to kill the,
"Ellie I need to tell you something," I said.
"What?" Ellie said.
"It's true, Even Lydia saw it as soon as she saw you," I said.
"That Scott is my Father," Ellie said.
"It's true even I can see it now. Your my sister," I said.
"Yeah right if that was true why would he just dump me like that," Ellie said.
"Because he doesn't know. I don't know how to tell him that it's you. And he basically isn't dumping you on just anyone. But family," I said.
"Whatever," Ellie said.
(Scott POV)
"Alright, House is clear!" I said after killing them all.
"Let's get back to the horses," Stiles said.
"Chloe, Ellie let's go," I said. Then went to check outside. "We're clear,"
Then Chloe and Ellie came out. And Ellie wasn't talking to me, Giving me the silent treatment.
"You want a hand up?" Stiles said.
"I got it," Ellie said. Chloe got on with her.
Then we ride to a far hill overlooking Jackson.
"Easy, Easy,Whoa, There she is, Kids'll be watching movies tonight," Stiles said.
"Where is this lab of theirs?" I said.
"It's all the way out. University of Eastern Colorado," Stiles said.
"Go Big Horns," I said. "Chloe, Ellie get on. Give the horse back to Stiles. I gonna hand onto this guy, if that's alright with you. Go on, Don't make me repeat myself," I said. Then Chloe got off and climbed in front of me.
"Changed your mind," Chloe said.
"Yeah," I said.
"What are you doing?" Stiles said.
"Lydia, is still my sister but I don't want her coming after me if something happened to you," I said.
"Sorry for stealing your horse," Ellie said.
"Look. Scott, Come back to town, let's discuss it at least," Stiles said.
"You know me, Bud. When my minds all made up," I said.
Then helped Ellie got on behind me and she hugging into my back.
"University Eastern Colorado. How do I find this lab?" I said.
"It's in the Science building, look like a giant mirror, you can't miss it," Stiles said.
"You take care of her, Man," I said.
"There's a place for you here, Scott, You know," Stiles said.
"Yeah maybe but afterwards I thinking about planning to go to you know through that gate," I said.
"At least come back this way if you are, we can take everyone then," Stiles said. "We can look around for things before we do,"
"You good?" I said.
"I'm good," Ellie said.
"Cya Bro," I said.
Then we headed on towards that university.
