Chapter 10.
Lakeside resort.
(Chloe POV)
Ellie and I was in the mountains which was full of snow. Where we saw a Rabbit that Ellie kills with her bow.
"This won't last long," Ellie said. As she picks it up and puts it on Callus.
"It will have to do," I said.
"Wow," Ellie said. Then I saw what she saw a Deer nearby. Then She ties Callus to a tree. "You'll just startle it,"
Then we went off to track it.
"Where'd you go?" "Ellie said.
"There," I said.
"Got it," Ellie said. Wounding it. But it runs off. "Shit,"
"Come on," I said. Then we found it against and Ellie gets another good shot, but it still runs off. "How are you still alive?"
"What is that?" Ellie said. As we found an old mining camp.
"Mining Camp," I said.
"Everything's cool. This place isn't creepy at all, Oh, Chloe," Ellie said.
"What," I said. Then we saw the Stag which was dead. When we go to check we heard footsteps.
"Who's there? Come out," Ellie said.
Then 2 guys came out who looked to be hunting. Ellie had her bow ready and I was aiming my pistol at them.
"Hello, we just want to talk," One of them said.
"Any sudden moves and I put one right between your eyes, Ditto for buddy boy over there?" Ellie said.
"What do you want?" I said.
"Um, Names David, this here's my friend James. We're from a larger group Women, Children, Were all very very hunger," David said.
"So are we, Women, Children, All very hunger too," Ellie said.
"Well, maybe we could, ah, trade you for some of that meat there. What do you need? Weapons, Ammo, Clothes," David said.
"Medicine," Ellie said.
"Do you have any antibiotics," I said.
"We do, Back at the camp, You're welcome to follow us," David said.
"We're not following you anywhere," I said.
"Buddy boy can go get it, He comes back with what We need, the Deers is all yours, Anyone else Shows up," Ellie said.
"You put one right between my eyes," David said.
"Damn straight," I said.
"2 bottles of Penicillin and a syringe, Make it fast, Go on," David said.
Then James rans off.
"I'll take that rifle," Ellie said.
"Of course," David said. Putting it down.
"Back up," Ellie said Putting her bow away and grabbed the gun and points it at him.
"He's probably gonna be awhile, You mind if we take some shelter from the cold," David said.
"Bring him with us," I said.
Then He Drags the Deer inside and we built a fire.
"There, You know you 2 shouldn't be out here all by yourselves," David said.
"We don't like company," Ellie said.
"I see, What's your name?" David said.
"Why," I said.
"Look, I understand it's not easy to trust a couple of strangers. Whoever's hurt, you clearly care about them. I'm sure it's gonna e just fine," David said.
"We'll see," Ellie said.
That was when a Clicker enters the place we were in and then David grabs a gun from his back and Shot it Killing it too in mid lunge.
"You had another gun," I said aiming mine at him/
"Sorry," David said.
Then we heard more infected coming.
"Okay, I'd really like my rifle back now," David said.
"Not you have your pistol," Ellie said as I got my P90 out.
"I hope you know how to use that thing," David said.
"I've had some practise," Ellie said.
Then David shuts the door and puts a tarp on the deer.
"No matter what, we have to keep them out, Let's hope they don't find him, Cover the Windows," David said.
"Okay, "Ellie said.
"Make every shot count," David said.
"She's done this before," I said.
As there was coming and we started shooting them, Ellie with the rifle, I was using my P90 in it Single to burst mode.
"You weren't kidding, you're a better shot with that thing than I am, Gimme a hand with this," David said.
Then We went and barricade a window, then a Clicker grabs Ellie, But I knife the hell out of it.
"Ellie," I said.
"Oh shit, I'm okay," Ellie said.
"Nothing over here, Oh lord there's a whole lot of them coming at us, Don't let them come through the windows," David said.
As Infected keep coming.
"Screw it, We're getting outta this room," David said. As he kicks down a boarded up door nearby.
"Let's go," I said.
"Fucking infected," Ellie said.
"Come on, I'll block their path, Cover the stairs," David said. As he barricades the stairway. "Follow me, through here,"
"Ellie Come on," I said.
"Okay, Do you know where you're going?" Ellie said.
"I've never set foot in this place," David said.
"Oh great," Both Ellie and I said.
"It's clear this way," David said.
"Right behind you," Ellie said.
"How are you holding up," David said.
"You need to worry about us," I said.
"Alright, stay close," David said.
"Oh shit," Ellie said.
Then David hops a cat walk barricade safely, Then Ellie went but she fell down to the Ground floor.
"Ellie," I said.
"I'm fine," Ellie said.
"More clickers, get outta there," David said.
But I didn't want her down there alone so I jumped down as we started to climb back up a ways, going pass infected or killing them. Then there was a clicker in front which David kills to open our path.
"You alright?" David said.
"There you are" Ellie said.
"Come on, Door's this way, there, That ladder could work," David said.
"Here, Sis, Boost me up," Ellie said.
"Okay, Ready," I said.
"Hang on," Ellie said as I boosted her there. Then Got boosted up too.
"Alright, You 2 be quick, Keep a lookout for those things," David said.
"We know," Ellie said. As She kills a clicker on the catwalk.
"What's going on up there, Everything alright," David said.
"Yeah, it's okay, Alright, Here you go," Ellie said as she dropped the ladder.
"We can't trust him," I said.
"I know, But we can use him," Ellie said.
"C'mon, Alright, look out. Through here, Come on, Kid, we need to find a way outta here, there's gotta be a way outta here," David said.
In a far elevator room, Ellie finds a corpse.
"Geez. Looks like someone already fought those things and lost," Ellie said.
"Ah Lord. I've been looking for these Boys, Doesn't Matter, Grab their gear. I'm gonna look for an exit. Keep your eyes open for anything we can use," David said.
"See Anything," I said.
"It's a dead end. How on Earth did they use this building?" David said.
"So what do we do?" Ellie said.
"We hold out ground," I said.
"Is there any other choice?" Ellie said.
"We die, Get ready," David said.
"You hear that? They're on the roof," Ellie said.
"Ready," I said.
Then We fight off the Rooftop wave.
"We're doing fine, Kid," David said.
"It doesn't feel like it," Ellie said.
"We'll make it," I said.
"How many of these things are there," Ellie said.
"I have no idea, just keep at it," David said.
Then we hear an odd infected noise.
"That's doesn't sound good," David said.
"Fuck, Bloater," Ellie said.
"A what?" David said.
"One of those big fucking guys," Ellie said.
"Then Let's end that shit," I said.
As we slay the bloater.
Then we finished off the rest.
"Hey," David said.
"Yeah?" Ellie said.
"You know I think we did it," David said.
"Like we killed all of them," Ellie said.
"Don't sound so disappointed," David said.
"More like disbelief," I said.
"I'll check the bridge," David said as he left.
"Let's just hope it helps Dad," I said.
"Yeah," Ellie said.
Then we headed to the bridge.
"Listen," David said.
"No infected," I said.
"No infected," Ellie said.
"What'd I tell ya? Alright, Let's head on back, Check on that buck of ours," David said.
Then we got back to the Deer and the Fire.
"You handled yourself pretty nice back there. Ha. Whew, I say we make a pretty good team," David said.
"Psshh, Yeah, Me and her. Not you, We got lucky," Ellie said.
"Lucky? No. No Such thing as luck. No you see I believe that everything happens for a reason," David said.
"Sure," I said.
"I do and I can prove it to you. Now this winter has been especially cruel. A few weeks back. I sent a group of men out nearby town to look for food. Only a few came back. They said that the other had been slaughtered by a crazy man and get this he's a crazy man travelling with a older girl and a little girl, You see? Everything happens for a reason," David said.
"Son of a bitch," I said as we had our guns pointing at him.
"Now don't get upset," David said.
"Upset, you fucking guys tried to kill us and our Dad," I said/
"James low the gun," David said.
Then Ellie had hers pointing at James.
"No way David, I'm not gonna let them go," James said.
"Lover the gun or I'll kill both of you," I said.
"James, Drop it, Give them the medicine," David said.
James tosses the parcel on the floor.
"The Others won't be happy about this," James said.
"Yeah, Well, That's not your concern," David said.
"Move the fuck out of the way," Ellie said grabbing it.
"You won't survive long out there, I can protect you," David said.
"No thanks," Ellie said.
"This is your only warning, Any one comes after us. They're dead. Just be gratefully I'm not killing you for hurting my Dad. Your men was the ones that hurt him. Not you. Which saved your life and his. But any more of your people comes after us. You know what will happen. I see you again, You're dead," I said. "Sis, Let's go,"
As we ran back to Callus and We got on.
"Let's get outta here," Ellie said.
"Come on," I said. As we take an extremely long way back heading out of the snow then Headed towards the House we have been holed up in.
"Ellie," I said as she got off and got the Garage and we headed in and closed the garage up tight.
"Come on," Ellie said.
As we get to where Dad was.
"Dad," I said.
"We only managed to get a little bit of food. But We did get this, Move your arm," Ellie said got it ready. "Here we go," Giving him the injection. Causing Dad to whinge a bit.
"Sorry. All done, That's it, You're gonna make it," I said. "You're going to make it back to us Dad,"
As we lay down beside him and get some sleep.

In the Morning. Ellie was already up.
"You hear that," Ellie said. As she hits the window. "Fuck. They tracked us. I'm going to draw them away,"
"What no, way," I said.
"Yes, Still here and watch Dad if they don't all go after me, Someone has to watch Dad," Ellie said.
"We only got you back," I said.
"I know, I'll be back," Ellie said.
Then She left and got Callus and out the Garage closing it quietly. As I got my guns and was ready for anyone coming in.
"Hurry back, Ellie," I said.
(Ellie POV)
"I'll be back, I'm not losing them again," I said to my self.
Then We ran off drawing them at me. They were even shooting at me. As I riding through the deserted resort, Evading hunter's gunfire. Callus and I almost made it out. But then Callus got Shot and throwing us down the bank.
"Oh man, No, Callus, Shit. I'm sorry," I said then Headed for the Cabin.
"She fell down the hill somewhere. I don't see her, though,"
"She's running for the cabins,"
I managed to get into the Cabins and started searching for supplies fast. Then I heard more.
"Are we really killing her? David said he wants her alive,"
"He doesn't get to make that call, James to me it's the girl from the university. We get her we can lure the other girl to us. How many of our guys were killed there?"
"Oh shit I didn't know that was her, Screw David then. I ain't taking a chance with this,"
"I just want to finish up and go home. I'm freezing my ass off,"
Not likely you pricks. No one is killing any one of them. So I managed to kill the rest. Then find the exit along a broken cliffside path, Now to get back to them.
"Nature track. Okay, that should get me out of here. You got this Ellie, Okay, Don't fall in the water. Don't fall in. Oh shit, Okay," I said. "I really should get them to teach me to swim,"
Then I find a blockage at a culvert.
"Here we go, I got this, Agh," I said clearing it and then we got through it where I find a large hunting lodge on the riverbank. "That's the way back, Hang in there, I'm coming back,"
"Covers the Grounds. Make sure she's not hiding somewhere," Another hunter showing up.
I killed the searches.
"How do I get outta here?" I said as I finagles myself into the lodge." I don't wanna get trapped in here, Agh, where's the way out,"
"She's on this side of the lodge," A hunter shouted.
"Shit," I said.
As I killed the last of the pursuers and I found an exit when I tried to get through it. Someone grabbed me from behind.
"Let go of me you fucker," I said.
"Relax, Keeping you alive here, There you go, There you go," David said. As he knocked me out.
(Chloe POV)
Where the hell is Ellie. she should of been back by now. No one tried to get in. So I went to the stairs and took a point where I could see Dad and Watch the stairs. Come on Ellie where are you?
(Ellie POV)
When I finally came around. I see a hunter chopping up a corpse nearby.
"Oh, Shit," I said.
"How are you feeling," David said appearing with a tray.
"Super," I said.
"Here, you should eat, I know you're hungry, Been out quite some time," David said.
"What is it?" I said.
"It's Deer," David said.
"With some human helping on the side," I said.
"No, I promise, It's just the deer meat," David said.
"You're a fucking animal," I said. Gobbles down some food.
"Oh, you're awfully quick to judgment. Considering you and your family killed how many men," David said.
"They didn't give us a choice," I said.
"And you think we have a choice? Is that it, You kill to survive, and so do we. We have to take care of our own. By any means necessary," David said.
"So now what? You gonna chop me up into tiny pieces," I said.
"I'd rather not," David said. "Soon those other too will follow, Tell me your name,"
"Go Fuck yourself, hurt my family, I will kill every fucking one of you," I said. Shoving the food plate out of the cell.
"On the contrary, I've been quite honest with you, Now I think it's your turn. It's the only way I'm gonna convince the others," David said.
"Convince them of what?" I said.
"That you can come around, You have heart, You're loyal, and you're special," David said running his hands over mine in a creepy manner.
"Oh," I said as I use mine and break his finger and then tried to get the keys for the cell, But he knocks my head into the cell door. "Oh Fuck,"
"You stupid little girl you are making it very difficult to keep you alive. What am I supposed to tell the others now," David said.
"Tell them that, Ellie is the little girl who broke your fucking finger and Kill my family. I destroy everything and Everyone in this damn town," I said.
"How did you put it? Hmm? Tiny pieces? See you in the morning, Ellie," David said Leaving.
"Shit, Come on Dad, Chloe, Come on," I said.
(Chloe POV)
I see Dad moving finally.
"Dad," I said.
(Scott POV)
I finally woke up and started to get up.
"Dad," Chloe said.
"Chloe," I said.
"Dad, Come on," Chloe said.
"What's going on? Where's Ellie," I said.
"She's not back yet, Come on we got to find her," Chloe said.
"What, What do you mean not back yet," I said.
"Hunters, We got to find her, It's the same group from the University," Chloe said.
"Great, What else has happened since I've been out," I said. Getting the gear on.
"Got to the Safe house, Got the gear. Even yours," Chloe said as I was putting it on.
"What else?" I said.
"Dad this may be a shock But. Ellie," Chloe said.
"Ellie's what," I said.
"Ellie's your and Hayden's Daughter," Chloe said.
"This," I said.
"It's not joke, Dad, It's true, She a Wolf too, I seen it. When She first when through it. Her first change. Remember you told me that her real family if a wolf. will get through it quick and easy," Chloe said.
"Yeah," I said.
"She did. Dad. Ellie's family," Chloe said.
"Then we got to find her, Did you know where she went," I said.
"Out there, come on," Chloe said as we headed out.
"They're over there," A hunter shouted.
"Shit," I said.
Chloe and I took care of the hunters. Later I got grabbed by one as I enter the street. Chloe takes the other one as I got the one who grabbed me.
"You coming with us," Chloe said. As we bring them to a basement and start beating them for the Information.
"What do you want. What the fuck?"
"You wait here, Now the girl is she alive," I said.
"What girl, I don't know no girl,"
Then Chloe Stabbed him in the Leg.
"Don't fucking lie to us," Chloe said.
"Fuck,"
"Focus right here, Right here, Or I'll pop your goddamn knee off. The girl," I said.
"She's alive, She's David's newest pet,"
"WHERE?" Chloe said Moving the knife a bit.
"In the Town, In the town,"
I put the bloody knife in the guys mouth as Chloe held up a map.
"Now you're gonna mark it on the map and It better be the same exact spot your buddy points to, Mark It," I said.
"It's right there, you can verify it, Go ask him, go on, He'll tell ya, I ain't lying. I ain't lying,"
But I already knew he was so I snapped his neck.
"Fuck you, Man, He told you what you wanted, I ain't telling you shit,"
"That's alright, We believe him," Chloe as Killing him.
"Let go get her back," I said.
"Hell yeah," Chloe said.
(Ellie POV)
"Wake-y wake-y Come on," James said as then grabbed me.
"Let go," I said.
"Get," James said.
"Stop," I said biting David's hand when he draws near, AS they Knee me in the stomach. Then lifted me onto the slaughtering table.
"I warned you," David said.
"I'm infected, I'm infected," I said.
"Really?" David said.
"And so are you. Right there, Roll up my sleeve. Look at it," I said.
"I'll play along," David said as he did that and saw it.
"What'd you say? everything happens for a reason, Right," I said.
"What the hell is that?" James said.
"She would've turned by now, It can't be real," David said.
"Looks pretty fucking real to me," James said.
I grabbed the cleaver and cut James neck. Then Kick David back hard rolling off the table as he tried to shot me but missed. I managed to find a switchblade on a cabinet and jumped out the window into the blizzard. "Okay, Shit the fuck is wrong with these people?"
"Where you going Ellie, This is my town," David said.
But I manage to take shelter in a nearby storage room.
"I need a gun, Okay. I can do this," I said. "Just remember what Chloe taught me,"
As I moved to the front of the store.
"We heard gun shots,"
"Infected," David said.
"What?"
"The Girl, She's infected and she got out," David said.
"This is Bad, David," A female hunter said.
"Alright, I need you to round up everyone who isn't armed and get them to clear outta here. We're gonna find that girl and we're gonna kill her," David said.
"Oh my god, I'll take the kids to the shelter," She said.
Then They split up with more hunters are nearby.
"Oh Fuck," I said.
"Tired of this shit. He's crossed the line this time,"
"I've been saying this for months,"
"We've indulged him enough, This girl killed our men and now she's infected,"
"Let's clean this mess up, Then we can have a town meeting. Put his leadership up to a vote,"
"They're everywhere," I said.
I managed to Eluded the them and headed deeper in town.
"What if she bites someone,"
"Relax. She's not biting anybody,"
"I'm saying we could have a real situation here,"
"We already have a situation and we're gonna take care of it. Now stay focused and let's find her,"
I managed to infiltrate the restaurant but David was fucking there.
"You're easy to track," David said. Wrestles the gun off me. "How did you do it?"
I manage to escape when David
s attention notices the building catching fire. Then he tried to taunt me as he hunted me in this pissing restaurant.
"That's alright. There's no where to go. You want out? You're gonna have to come get these keys. I know you're not infected. No one who's infected fights this hard to stay alive. So what is it? Ellie? I gotta admit, You had me back there, for a second you shook my faith. But only for a seconds. Oh hey Ellie? I'm sorry about your horse. I truly am. I hope you take comfort in knowing we won't waste any part if him," David said.
"You fucker," I whispered.
"You know. I wish you hadn't killed James, He's a good kid. Just doing his job. In fact all those people you killed. It's just gonna make our group stronger. Fewer mouths to feed. Stronger Survivors. Ellie. Ellie, Come on. I know you're dying to say something to me," David said.
"Creepy piece of shit," I whispered.
"No? Nothing? Sure about that? Alright then," David said.
I ambushed him stabbing him in the neck as he miss blank shots. Then Back off.
"That was good, kids. It's gonna be alright," David said Putting his gun away and take out a machete. "You know. You keep surprising me. It's a shame you wouldn't come around. Give up now and I promise to be quick. Promise,"
"No you Crazy Fucker," I whispered.
"It didn't have to be this way. you know, You brought this on yourself. You did," David said.
I managed to ambush him a second time stabbing his stomach. Then back off.
"Run little rabbit, run," David said.
I ambushed him a third time. But He hitting me with something. Then I blacked out.
(Scott POV)
Chloe and I finally reached the Silver Lake's outskirts.
"This is pointless. I can't see a thing,"
"Just keeping searching if she comes through her, we gotta catch her,"
"We should be guarding the shelter. We got an infected running around in the town and we're guarding the damn exit,"
"Look, This Kid is deadly and we don't know where she's gonna turn up. Just keep your eyes and ears open,"
"Ellie," Chloe said.
"She must of got out. We gotta find her before they do," I said.
Then Chloe and I killed the Guards and take refuge inside. Where we find Ellie's Backpack.
"Dad that's Ellie," Chloe said.
"I know, What is this? Why is Ellie's stuff here," I said.
"Doesn't matter, We're taking it back," Chloe said grabbing it as I went into the meat locker full of human corpses.
"Oh, Christ. We gotta to find her. We gotta find her," I said.
"We will Dad, but these lot have to die," Chloe said.
"Let's get Ellie first," I said as we step into the main street and see a building on fire. "Holy shit,"
"Ellie," Chloe said.
"Come on," I said. As we headed in.
(Ellie POV)
When I wake up. I search for the knife and I saw it and started heading there. When David kicked me hard.
"I knew you had heart, y'know. It's okay to give up, Ain't no shame in it, I guess not. Just not your style is it?" David said Kicking me again. Then Pinned me down. "You can try begging,"
"Fuck you," I said.
"You think you know me? Huh? Well, let me tell you something. You have no idea what I'm capable of," David said.
"Or Me," I said letting my wolf out enough to knock him off me and get the Machete slashes him, then kept going.
"Ellie," Dad said. Grabbing me.
"No, Don't fucking touch me," I said.
"Ellie," Chloe said.
"No," I said.
"Ellie, It's us," Chloe said. "Ellie,"
"Look at me, Ellie, It's me," Dad said. As I saw Dad,
(Scott POV)
"He tried to," Ellie said.
"Come here, Kiddo, It's okay, I've got you Baby girl," I said.
"Dad," Ellie said. "Chloe,"
"I'm here, Sis," Chloe said.
"It's okay now," I said.
"Come on let's get you out of here," Chloe said as we got up and left the restaurant.
As we got back where we got the rest of our gear and started headed again. Finding another place on the way.
Chloe went to check the place as I stayed with Ellie.
"Ellie," I said.
"Daddy," Ellie said. hugging into me again
"Hey. you with us again, you safe," I said.
Ellie just stayed where she was. As Chloe came back.
"All clear. But there's only one bed," Chloe said.
"Just like the old days then, Come on let's seal the doors off. so nothing can get in," I said.
"Sure, Get me a hand Ellie," Chloe said.
"Yeah," Ellie said letting go as they moved the sofa over the door as I went to check for the back door. There wasn't one which was lucky.
Then we started up some dinner and ate it. Then we cleaned it and headed upstairs and closed the door as we got into the Bed as I was in the middle and Chloe and Ellie got onto either side of me, But Ellie snuggled into me tight.
"You okay Kiddo," I said.
"We got you now, Sis. No one is going to do that again," Chloe said.
