Spring
Bus depot.
(Scott POV)
I was alot better by springtime and we got the Salt Lake City via an old Turnpike. But Chloe and I saw Ellie distracted at a deer emblem on the wall.
"Ellie, Did you hear me?" I said.
"No what?" Ellie said.
"Look, Hospital, This is where we get off. Let's go, Kiddo. Oh Feel that breeze. I tell you on a day like this. I'd just sit on a pier and watch the ocean. Once we're done with this whole thing. I'm gonna take you there. You'd really like that.. What do you say?" I said.
"Ellie," Chloe said.
"Huh? Oh yeah, Sure that sounds great," Ellie said.
"Come on Kiddo. Let's end this," I said.
"Dad don't we have a safe house here," Chloe said.
"Yeah," I said.
"We have a car there. So you and Ellie head on I get us the car and meet you there," Chloe said.
"Hey, Just watch yourself," I said.
"I will Dad. Ellie, Watch him for us," Chloe said.
"I will," Ellie said.
Then Chloe headed on as Ellie and I continue walking.
"I dreamt about flying the other night," Ellie said.
"Oh Yeah," I said.
"Yeah," Ellie said.
"Go on, Tell me about it," I said.
"So, I'm on this big plane full of people. and Everyone is screaming and yelling cause the plane's going down. So I walk to the cockpit, open the door, but there's no pilot. I try to use the controls but I obviously have no clue how to fly a plane. And Right before we crash, I wake up, I've never been on a plane, Isn't that weird," Ellie said.
"Dream are weird, Ellie" I said.
Then we see a warning sign where the off ramp ends.
"Look at that. Another city. Another abandoned quarantine Zone, There's that Hospital the Firefly mentioned. C'mon, Baby girl," I said as I pulled Ellie with me. As we hop the QZ gate and enter a bus Terminal.
"Maybe we cut through here, Huh. Ellie, Everything all right," I said.
"Yeah, I'm fine," Ellie said.
"You just kinda seem extra quiet today," I said.
"Oh Sorry," Ellie said.
"No, It's not, It's fine. Ellie," I said.
"I'm fine, Dad," Ellie said.
As I found a ladder on a balcony.
"Well we could use that ladder, here we go," I said getting ready to boost Ellie but She was distracted. "Ellie, Ellie,"
"What," Ellie said.
"Ladder, C'mon," I said.
"Right, Okay Oh my god whoa," Ellie said as I got her up there and She drops the Ladder and runs off.
"Ellie, What is it? Ellie!" I said. As I got it in position.
"Oh You gotta see this," Ellie said.
"What is it? I don't see anything What the hell is," I said getting up.
"Are you kidding me, Dad C'mon Hurry up," I said.
I sees what's got her so wide eyed. A wild giraffe roaming around.
"What in the Sam Hill," I said.
"Whoa you see this," Ellie said.
As we find another giraffe eating right by a hole in the building.
"Shh, don't scare it," Ellie said.
"I won't," I said going to pet it.
"What are you doing," Ellie said.
"It's alright, C'mere, Come on," I said As Ellie came over and did the same thing.
"Hey there, So fucking cool Aw where's it off to, Here C'mon, Let's go, Come on Dad," Ellie said.
"Slow down Kiddo," I said.
"Hurrp up, C'mon, C'mon, C'mon," Ellie said as we got to the roof and see the old Zoo and a whole heard of Giraffes. "Oh Man, Wow, Look at those things,"
"So this everything you were hoping for," I said.
"It's got it's up and down but you can't deny the view though," Ellie said.
As We watch the giraffes walk off before we headed on.
"We don't have to do this, You know that right," I said.
"What's the other option?" Ellie said.
"Go back to Stiles' Just be done with this whole damn thing," I said.
"After all we've been through, Everything that I've done, It can't be for nothing, Look. I know you mean. But there's no halfway with this, Once we're done, We'll go wherever you want, Dad. Okay," Ellie said.
"Fine. But if they are going to do something which I'm not going to like, I'm getting us out of there got it," I said. "I'm not losing anyone else,"
"Yeah, Dad," Ellie said.
"Let's go wrap this up," I said.
As we exit the Terminal and into the old QZ processing area.
"Well this place takes me back," I said.
"How so?" Ellie said.
"It was right after everything went down. Chloe and I ended up in a triage just like this, Man, Everywhere you looked, you just saw Families torn apart. The whole damn world seemed to have turned upside down in a blink," I said.
"Is that after you lost Sarah," Ellie said.
"Yes it was, She would have loved you," I said.
"I can't imagine losing someone you love like that, losing everything that you know, I'm sorry, Dad," Ellie said.
"That's okay Ellie," I said.
"Hey, Dad, I got something for you, Here, Lydia showed this to me and I took it, I hope you don't mind," Ellie said passing me a picture of me and Sarah, That Stiles showed me back at the damn.
"Well not matter how hard you try, I can't escape your past," I said. "Come here," As I pulled Ellie next to me.
Then we started again as we cleared the QZ and enter an abandoned Traffic Tunnel.
"This time it's gonna be different, I just know it," Ellie said.
"What do you mean?" I said.
"They're gonna be there, The Fireflies, I mean, I'm sure of it," Ellie said.
"Just remember what I said," I said.
"I know Dad," Ellie said. "Just tell me okay,"
Then we find a tons of infected in the tunnel.
"Shit," I said.
"Holy shit," Ellie said.
"Stay quiet," I said.
"Oh my god, There's so many of them," Ellie said.
"I know, let's just keep it at," I said.
Then we find a Bloater and more infected ahead.
"Stay back," I said. As I went to work putting them down. Till the last one was dead. "We killed them, I think we got all of them,"
"I think you're right, Dad," Ellie said.
"Endure and survive, Alright, you think you can shove that crate down?" I said.
"No sweat, Okay... Look out below," Ellie said.
As we hop over a trailer a flooded portion.
"Watch your step," I said. "That water looks pretty deep," I said.
"Hey, that's what we can do once we're done," Ellie said.
"What's that?" I said.
"You and Chloe Teach me how to swim," Ellie said.
"You got it," I said.
As I jumped in and swam ahead and got to the other side. "I'm on the other side," I said.
"Cool, Drop that ladder down for me, Dad," Ellie said.
"Alright, hold on," I said as I position the ladder down. "Alright, Just stick to the edge. It's shallow over here,"
"Oh it's freezing," Ellie said.
"And Another jammed door, Alright, Gimme your foot, Kiddo," I said.
"Okay," Ellie said.
"Come on, Get that door open," Ellie said.
As I boast her through a gap in the fence, and killed an attacking Clicker. "Ellie, you okay," I said.
"Yeah. It just surprised me. Man, I can't wait for those things to be wiped out. Watch your head," Ellie said. As we can see St Mary's hospital nearby. "Hey look there it is,"
"Just stay put," I said.
"I'm not going anywhere, Dad," Ellie said.
As I jumped in and swims around and climb in the ductwork and found a pallet.
"You made it, Alright Come on, Get me across," Ellie said.
"Alright Kiddo get on," I said.
"Okay, Okay, There, I'm on it, Be careful," Ellie said.
"Always am," I said.
"Stand back," Ellie said.
"Shit," I said. As the ladder broke when I got on.
"What just happened," Ellie said.
"The Gorram Ladder broke off the wall," I said.
"Now what," Ellie said.
"I'll figure something out," I said.
As I uses the broken ladder to span a gap.
"Oh I see good idea Dad," Ellie said.
As I got to her as we kept going to the next flooded tunnel has a fast moving current.
"Oh boy," Ellie said.
"Let me go ahead and you follow my lead," I said.
"Okay, Dad, right behind you," Ellie said.
As I jumped across a gap.
"Okay come on jump," I said.
"You're going to catch me," Ellie said.
"I got you. see? You didn't even need me," I said.
"Let's get the hell off this thing," Ellie said.
Then The bus we are walking on starts to shake in the current.
"Oh shit," Ellie said.
"Ellie, Move, Oh shit I got it," I said As we run to the opposite ledge but it started breaking under my weight.
"Dad? Here Come on," Ellie said.
But the shifting bus knocks me inside it.
"Dad," Ellie said.
"Son of a bitch, Aw shit," I said. The Current was pinning me firm. Ellie Jump back onto the bus. As She tries a door.
"I made it, I fucking made it, Okay, Open you piece of shit," Ellie said. As She opened the door hitting me in the face. "Here we go, Come on, Let's get you, Oh shit, Oh shit, Dad,"
"Ellie, Gimme your hand, Gimme your had before," I said. As the bus churns, sending us both underwater. As I got out and grabbed Ellie pulling her up out of the water to safety. "Ellie, Come on Breath," As I start doing CPR on her. "Come on, kiddo breath,"
"Hands in the air," a man said.
"Come on, She's not breathing," I said.
"Hands in the Fucking air," He said.
"Come on, Ellie," I said. As I keep going the I got knocked out.
