Chapter 12.

Spring.

The Firefly lab.

(Scott POV)

I wake up in a hospital bed. As I saw Marlene sitting at my bedside.

"Welcome to the Fireflies, Sorry about the. They didn't know who you were," Marlene said.

"Ellie," I said.

"She's alright, They brought her back, You came all this way, how'd you do it," Marlene said.

"Fought like hell to get here. Maybe it was meant to be," I said.

"I lost most of my crew crossing the country. I pretty much lost everything, And the you show up and somehow we find you just in time to save her. Maybe it was meant to be," Marlene said.

"Take me to her," I said.

"You don't have to worry about her anymore. We'll take care of," Marlene said.

"When were you going to tell me. Hayden was her mother," I said.

"What," Marlene said. "How?

"Because the last time I saw Hayden was when she was pregnant, With Ellie," I said. "Take me to her,"

"You can't, She's being Prepped for surgery," Marlene said.

"The Hell you mean, Surgery," I said.

"The Doctors tell me that the Cordyceps, the growth inside her, has somehow mutated. It's why she's immune, Once they remove it. They'll be able to reverse engineer a vaccine, A vaccine," Marlene said.

"But It grows all over the brain," I said.

"It does," Marlene said.

"Find someone else," I said.

"There is no one else," Marlene said.

"Listen you are going to show me where my," I said.

As Her attendant knocks me down.

"Stop, I get it, But whatever it is you think you're going through right now. It is nothing compared to what I have been through, I knew her since she was born. I promised Hayden I would look after her," Marlene said.

"Don't ever try to tell me you know what it is like to lose a daughter, Don't you ever try that bullshit with me. If your promised Hayden why are you letting this happen?" I said.

"Because This isn't about me, Or even her, There is no other choice here," Marlene said.

"There is always a choice," I said.

"March him outta here, He tries anything Shoot him, Don't waste this gift Scott," Marlene said. Leaving.

"Get up, I said, Get up. Go on move I said Move gimme an excuse," Firefly said.

"Which way?" I said.

As I saw my back pack sitting on a counter.

"What the fuck are you doing, Keep walking I said keep walking," He said I as Turn and Hit him hard taking his gun.

"Where is the operating room, I ain't got time for this," I said As I shot him. "Where," As I have to shot him a 3rd time. "WHERE!"

"Top floor, far end," He said.

As I put a bullet in his head.

"Gun shots search the floor," A voice said.

"Shit," I said As I got my backpack and Hide as guards come.

"Oh shit he killed Ethan," He said.

"What?"

"Ethan's Dead,"

"We got a man down. The Smuggler's escaped,"

"Locate the Target and Eliminate him, We'll search the other floors," Radio said.

"Yes sir, Search the him. Find that smuggler and shoot him on sight,"

As I got around killing them one by one. Stealthy. Then Hear reinforcements.

"Down this way. Stay alert. oh dear god. It's a fucking massacre over here, Search every inch of this floor find this guy now,"

"What's going on down there Did you hear what I oh shit he's over here,"

As I made it to a stairwell and lock it with a chair. "Get through that you fuckers," As from 6F I can see the Surgery wing's light active. "That's it, I'm coming Ellie,"

"They're not responding, Take up positions no matter what he doesn't get through here go,"

"Who the hell is this guy?"

"He brought the kid all the way from Pittsburgh, That's all I know Marlene insisted on questioning him herself,"

As I did the same to them all stealthy and the barricades a door.

"There Come on, That should buy me some time," I said As I make it to the surgery prep room Ellie is Knocked out on the table. "Sweet Jesus,"

"Doctor," Nurse said.

"What're you doing here? I won't let you take her, This is our future. Think of all the lives we'll save Don't come any closer. I mean it," He said As I shot him with my Phaser on stun.

"No You fucking animal," She said.

"Kari shut the hell up," a second one said. As She went over. "He is still alive,"

"Of course he is. It was set on Stun. He will just have a headache," I said. As I disconnect the tubes and got Ellie and start head out. As I another girl came in running over to him.

"Is he dead," She said.

"No, Only knocked out. He will have a headache," I said.

"Why?" She said.

"Cause she is my Daughter," I said. As I head out for the escape.

"He's carrying her towards pediatrics,"

"Come on, Man we just want to girl, Get up here now,"

"Shit," I said.

"He's over here,"

"I'm getting you outta here, Ellie, I got you, I got you. I'm not losing you too," I said.

"Cover the exits,"

"Come on Goddamnit. Which way," I said.

"You got nowhere to go,"

"Go around to the other side,"

"We're okay, We're okay. We're okay," I said.

"This is your last chance drop her now,"

"I got him in my sights,"

"I said get back," I said As I make it to an Elevator safely. "Come on, Come on,"

"Hey Stop," As the lift starts moving.

"Oh God," I said.

As I get out at the lower parking garage. As I pressed the Elevator Stop button.

"Okay come on, come on," I said As I saw Marlene there pointing a gun at me.

"You can't save her, Even if you get her out of here, Then what? How long before she's torn to pieces by a pack of clickers? That is if she hasn't been raped and murdered first," Marlene said.

"That Ain't for you to decide," I said.

"It's what she'd want and you know it, Look," Marlene said lowering her gun. "You can still go the right thing here, she won't feel anything," As She lowered her gun as I got mine and shot her as I quickly put Ellie into the nearby pickup. Then Headed back towards her.

"Wait, Let me go, Please," Marlene said.

"You'd just come after my daughter," I said. As I shot her dead.

Then Got in and started Driving to meet up with Chloe.

Then Ellie starts waking up.

"What the hell am I wearing," Ellie said.

"Just take it easy, Drugs are still wearing off," I said.

"What happened," Ellie said. "Dad,"

"They were going to kill you all for nothing," I said.

"What do you mean," Ellie said.

"They were going to cut into your head and there was no way you could have survived that," I said.

"Dad," Ellie said.

"I can't lose anyone else, Not again," I said.

"Where we going," Ellie said.

"Meeting up with Chloe, Then Heading back," I said.

"We need to stop so I can change," Ellie said.

"We will," I said.

Soon as find somewhere with a clothes store as Ellie and I head in and Once we have cleared it Ellie Finds herself something to put on as went behind the shelves so I can see her just in case.

"Keep an eye for me," Ellie said.

"Always," I said.

"I get it you know," Ellie said. "What you had to do, You couldn't lose anyone else. Not after Sarah. And just so you know, I don't hate you for it, Dad, I really don't,"

"I know," I said.

"How," Ellie said.

"Did Chloe not tell you about how we can listen to heartbeats, When It stays steady then either the person is telling the truth or is really good at lying. But when it spikes that person is lying," I said.

"Listening to my heartbeat all that time don't you," Ellie said.

"Yeah," I said.

"Okay Done," Ellie said as she came round dressed again. "So what you think,"

As I saw her wearing Jeans and a red shirt, Combat boots and Purple Leather Jacket.

"Yeah works but what is with the Red shirt," I said.

"Your Eyes when their flash," Ellie said.

"Come on, We need to meet Chloe and get back on the road," I said as we headed out and found her just outside the city with a car as we got over there as Chloe ran at us and hugged both of us.

"About time, I was getting worried," Chloe said. "What happened,"

"Oh got there, Then found out they were trying to kill me just for a vaccine," Ellie said.

"What," Chloe said. As I saw her eyes flash up.

"Chloe, I'm fine, Dad got me out of there," Ellie said.

"We should get moving," I said.

"Good thing I packed everything in that safehouse too before I came here. Got Ammo, Guns, Everything and I mean everything," Chloe said.

"That's my girl, Come on Let's get out of here and back to Stiles," I said. As we got into the car and drove back to Jackson.
