Chapter 2-

Billy's POV-

"You are a baby!"

"No. I am no baby!"

"You are a baby!"

"No. I am no baby."

"YOU ARE A…."

"Bella, sweetheart, please," I nursed the headache quickly forming, a cup of strong all black coffee in my hands, a groan leaving my lips as I was forced to be in this situation- for let's get real here, no one in their right mind is happy to play babysitter to two- extremely annoying- kids, even if one of those is your very own offspring.

You just don't want to be there, and that is a fact.

"Please use your indoor voice, honey." I forced a smile onto my face, tears never ever being the final intention, especially not when it concerns kids that start crying at the drop of a hat, refusing to stop with the tears for any sense or logic, both these kids sadly falling into that category- much to my added suffering.

"But, Uncle Billy," Bella stared at me with those wide chocolate brown eyes of hers- confusion evident in them, "Daddy always says that we should say the truth. I am saying the truth; Jakey is a baby." She finished with a shrug; a grin visible on her face, mighty proud of herself from the looks of it.

Oh. God. No!

Please don't.

Please don't do what I think you are about to do.

"I am no baby." Jake wailed, the tears freely falling down his eyes as he stomped his feet in denial repeatedly, pretty much succeeding in proving the girl's point. "Daddy, tell her." he shouted at me, his small face red from all the crying and stomping.

I let out a sigh.

Where is my wife when you need her?

She is a smart woman- I can never not agree to that statement.

Very smartly she had left the house a while back, citing the need for groceries, taking my other two quiet and obedient sweethearts and leaving these two terror twins behind for me to handle.

Seriously, Rach and Becca were angels compared to one Jacob alone. They never cried or screamed for either of us, both of which Jake did in plenty. They were content enough to stare at one another for the entirety of their day, weird indeed, but a well-needed relief to me and the missus.

So….no complains there….

Anyhow…

"Daddy," Jake wailed, throwing his arms around for me to pick him up and cuddle him in my arms- seeing which- Bella did the very same, her arms outstretched as tears started to trail down her eyes, threatening me to choose her.

No.

No.

Don't do this to the poor, helpless man!

I cannot pick you both up at the same time, and not for the lack of choice.

Especially knowing that Jake had the tendency of slipping out and hitting his head on the ground, if you didn't hold him tight enough…er…. suffocatingly tight enough.

The boy always somehow managed to squeeze himself out, pretending to fly with his imaginary wings, an experiment needless to mention was a failed one, on every attempt of his.

It was a miracle that that boy still had a functional head to call his….

Some God was definitely looking after him….

"Daddy," Jake repeated his plea, his tears now converted to loud screams, so loud that I was almost expecting our neighbors to come banging on our doors, blaming my child for causing irreparable noise pollution to the planet.

The only thing that could make this any worse was….

No.

Stop screaming, Bella!

I will go deaf. Please, I beg of you.

Please have mercy on me!

I am never agreeing to babysit you both alone ever again, no matter how much my wife tempts me with doing something desirable in the bedroom.

It is so not worth it- let me be the first to tell you that.

I was an idiot to agree to this.

I was out of my mind crazy.

Yes, it had to be that.

What other reason could there even be for such idiocy?

It was simply preposterous!

But no matter how late it be, lesson learnt and remembered for a lifetime….

"Will," the love of my existence sighed, standing at the open door of our house, my two angels by her side, grinning at me from those two missing front teeth of theirs- weirdly both of them had lost the same two teeth at the very same time.

But that was them in a nutshell…

Same in everything they did, wore or said.

I had missed them, though.

I really had!

They were my angels- and Jake was my personal demon.

Seriously. How could one even cry as much as the kid did?

It was certainly questionable.

Now, don't get me wrong, I love the kid. He is a part of me, literally. And I would do anything under the sun to keep him safe and happy.

But…a man does need a break once in a while…

And my wife- the smart woman- always divided the kids sex wise during bathing time or feeding time- stating that it was easier- which I completely agree with. It was definitely easier for her.

My precious angels were a no-maintenance.

And Jake….

Let's not even go there.

The last time I tried to feed him peas, I had to throw away both my shirt and Jeans, so ruined with green vomit that they were.

And don't even get me started on bathing time!

I could have drove to Seattle in that much time, time wasted in the traffic included!

Heck, I would have preferred to go to Seattle in that much time.

It would have been any day more pleasurable.

Bella wasn't that bad, honestly.

But she was a pampered kid.

Charlie- and even more so Renee- treated her like the apple of their eyes- her wish generally being their command, and she was a cute kid.

Cute kids always got their way, as a principle.

Anyhow, with a roll of the eyes, my wife, Sarah, walked into the room, instantly taking the crying Jake in her arms and calming him down- using some mother magic that only mothers had the knowledge of, her magic working without any delay as Jake's cries vanished, his head coming to rest on his mother's shoulder.

I let out a sigh, a slight smile crossing my face on observing this sight.

It was an adorable sight to watch- my heart heavy with the love I felt for the two in question.

It was just amazing to watch the love of my life with the being that our love had created, my other two babies huddled closer to my wife, our family complete and beyond precious.

But not to forget, the silent girl that stood in the corner of this room, no longer crying but silent enough to be forgotten.

She was missing her mother. I could see it in her eyes.

She wanted her mother, as every little kid away from their mother wants theirs.

I lifted her in my arms, smiling down at her.

"Hey, beautiful"

She smiled back at me.

"Do you want to talk to your mommy? I have her number."

Charlie had given me Renee's number for emergency purposes, more so if something happened to Bella and he was not reachable. And while I was aware that this was certainly not an emergency, I would without any hesitance call that number if it gave this little one any amount of happiness.

She shook her head at me, braver than I could have imagined her to be. "Mommy is busy. She does two jobs when I am with daddy. Daddy says we should not dis… disturb her. I will talk to her at night."

I smiled at her, kissing her little forehead. "You are a brave girl. You know that?"

She grinned at me, shyly nodding her head in agreement.

"And brave girls always get their favorite chocolate chip cookies!" Sarah added, wrapping an arm around the two of us, lovingly looking down at this girl who had made a permanent place in our hearts. "Bella, sweetheart, do you want to help me in making them?"

Bella nodded her head in excitement, turning to look at me with the silent command to put her down- something I did without any delay, the four of them walking towards the kitchen with Jake running behind them, making sure that there was no space remaining between him and Bella.

Strange.

He had been doing this since morning now, making sure that Bella was constantly around him.

No, really!

If Bella sat down to watch her favorite cartoons, Jake sat down to watch Bella.

If Bella sat down to color a picture of a tree, Jake sat down to color a picture of Bella (He drew it himself and it resembled a scribbled ball of color more).

If Bella went to use the washroom, thankfully, Jake waited outside the bathroom for her to arrive back; just waiting there with his eyes constantly on the door and a look of impatience on his face.

It was…. absurd, if nothing else.

Why was he reacting like this?

I had not a clue.

And Bella, I don't know if she hadn't realized this yet, but she seemed indifferent to his glue-like behavior.

Sure, she called him a baby and everything, but not a word of opposition was spoken when he followed her around through the house.

It was strange.

Jake never did this with his sisters, or even with Sarah.

He just did this following around thing with Bella….

Yes, it certainly was strange.

"Will," Sarah called out through the kitchen. "Can you please check Jake's diaper? I think he needs a change, and my hands are covered in flour at the moment."

I let out a sigh, shaking my head to myself.

Time to go.

Duty calls!

An hour of my day now stays wasted…
