Chapter 29
Battle of the Rivals
Three days have passed since the school festival. After having a weird dream created by the former wielders of One For All, Izuku wants to talk with All Might. Joshua decides to tag along to discover more about the mystery of the quirk. They now sit in the teacher's lounge.
"Wait. You saw the first wielder's memories!" said All Might.
"I also saw All For One's memories. You mentioned seeing these vestiges when you were young, right All Might?" said Izuku.
"Yeah. After I first saw them, my master taught me about them. I couldn't have told you two about the origin story if I didn't know about them," said All Might.
"Why are these vestiges talking to me?" asked Izuku.
"They may be trying to tell you something. In movies, if ghosts or spirits are trying to talk to someone, they're trying to tell them something important," said Joshua.
"Maybe you're right, but that has never happened to me and my master never brought it back. As I know, you're the only one to experience this phenomenon," said All Might.
"You said that there was a burst of power after you woke up. That has to be confirmation that it wasn't just a regular dream," said Joshua.
"Did you see anything else?" asked All Might.
"I saw two more black figures and you were all fuzzy," said Izuku.
"Maybe that's because he's the newest addition," said Joshua.
"I don't know about that, but we'll discover more about One For Altogether," said All Might.
"Yeah," said Izuku.
"We better get going. You guys have a special class this afternoon," said All Might.
Thirty minutes pass. Class 1-A now stands outside of Ground Gamma. The U.A students are wearing upgraded versions of their costumes.
"All of our costumes have changed so much during this school year," said Ida.
"Yeah. It's crazy how you made it through the summer with that outfit," said Sato.
"I don't overheat because my body's built for speed," said Ida.
"I wish my body was built for speed," said Sato.
Joshua walks up to Momo.
"A cape? I didn't know you were trying to unleash your inner Dracula," said Joshua.
"It's cold out here," said Momo.
"I've built-in heaters," said Joshua.
"I wish I had built-in heaters," said Momo.
Izuku walks up to Bakugo.
"You have a cool new look, Kacchan," said Izuku.
"If you have a problem with my costume just say it you stupid nerd!" exclaimed Bakugo.
"Your suit must protect you from the cold and generate heat, so you can use your quirk effectively during the winter. That's a great modification," said Izuku.
"I don't want your praise either!" exclaimed Bakugo.
"But, your suit has the most modifications, Midoriya. Those gauntlets are recent right?" said Ojiro.
"Yeah. I need to keep up with my new abilities, so I asked Joshua to create them," said Izuku.
"Oh, are you slacking off?" asked Monoma.
Class 1-A turns around to see Class 1-B standing behind them.
"Is this your way of underestimating us? Hear me Class 1-A! Today is the day that we settle this rivalry! You may have beat us at the school festival, but we won't lose today because this is our first joint training battle! We're gonna wi-" said Monoma.
Monoma is unable to finish speaking before Aizawa uses his scarf to stop him from talking.
"Shut up boy!" exclaimed Aizawa.
"I will," said Monoma weakly.
Aizawa releases Monoma.
"It's time for battle training! Your training will be a series of matches pitting Class 1-A against Class 1-B! The battlefield is one section of Athletic Field Gamma! Both classes will split off into four teams and square off against teams of the opposing class! The scenario this time is "a team of heroes trying to capture a team of villains", so just think that the other team is villains! Capture four of your opponents to win! Each team's base has a cage! The instant that someone is thrown into one of the cages, they are captured!" exclaimed Vlad King.
Aizawa and Vlad King turn around and grab two boxes. They show it to the classes.
"Now, it's time to draw lots," said Aizawa.
The students stick their hands into their respective boxes and pull a lot. The students with the same lot group up together.
"Now, that you know what teams you're on, let's name the matchups. Team 1 of Class A is Eljiro Kirishima, Denki Kaminari, Tsuyu Asui, and Koukji Koda and they will face Team 1 of Class B. Team 1 of Class B consists of Ibara Shiozaki, Jurota Shishida, Hiryu Rin, and Kosei Tsuburaba. Team 2 of Class A is Fumikage Tokiyami, Toru Hagakure, Yuga Aoyama, and Mina Ashido. They will face Team 2 of Class B who consists of Itsuka Kendo, Shihai Kuroiro, Manga Fukidashi, and Kinoko Komori. Team 3 of Class A is Mashirao Ojiro, Ochaco Uraraka, Mezo Shoji, and Tenya Ida. They will face Team 3 of Class B who consists of Tetsutetsu Tetsutetsu, Pony Tsunotori, Juzo Honenzuki, and Sen Kaibara. Team 4 of Class A is Hanta Sero, Katsuki Bakugo, Rikido Sato, and Kyoka Jiro. They will face Team 4 of Class B who consists of Setsuna Tokage, Kojiro Bondo, Yosetsu Awase, and Togaru Kamakiri. Team 5 of Class A is Momo Yaoyorozu, Joshua Girai, Izuku Midoriya, and Shoto Todroki. They will face Team 5 of Class B which consists of Neito Monama, Nirengeki Shoda, Yui Kodai, and Reiko Yanagi. The teams will start at their home bases. The time limit is 20 minutes per match. If time runs out, the team with more members remaining wins," said Aizawa.
"Match 1 will start in a few minutes. Team 1 of Class A and Team 1 of Class B, get down there," said Vlad King.
Five minutes pass. Team 1 of Class A walks through Ground Gamma.
"Shouldn't I put some distance between us so I can do my thing?" asked Kaminari.
"Yeah, but don't go too far. You don't want to end up alone or you'll most likely get jumped," said Kirishima.
"Who are the biggest threats? asked Kaminari.
"Probably Ibara. Didn't she beat you at the sports festival, Kaminari?" said Tsuyu.
"Don't remind me," said Kaminari.
"The enemy will most likely go after Kaminari first because of his offensive capabilities," said Kirishima.
Before anyone can respond, two birds land on Koda's hand. Kirishima walks up to him.
"Did you find her already?" asked Kirishima.
"Shiozaki is advancing on the left and she's alone. She's coming toward us and she's using her vines to search for us," said Koda.
"I'm not thrilled to go after a girl, but-" said Kirishima.
Before Kirishima can finish speaking, he and Tsuyu are grabbed by Jurota.
"Kirishima! Tsuyu!" exclaimed Kaminari.
"We took Koda's search method into account! We used Shiozaki as bait, so I could get close! If we gave you time, Kaminari would've been able to do what he's good at and we would be screwed! A head-on assault was our best option! Now, Kosei!" exclaimed Jurota.
"I'm on it," said Kosei.
Kosei uses his quirk to trap Koda in an air prison.
"We have to take down the big guy first," thought Kaminari.
Kaminari runs in front Jrota. Jurota smacks him away but receives a huge shock. Kosei jumps off of Jurota to avoid the shock. Kaminari flies into a wall. Tsuyu grabs Kosei with her tongue and runs off. Jurota runs after them.
"Impossible. I thought I electrocuted him," said Kaminari.
"We'll stop him," said Kirishima.
"Little ones, help me out," said Koda.
"Red Gauntlet!" exclaimed Kirishima.
Kirishima tries to punch Jurota, but he turns back into his human form to dodge the punch. Once he touches the ground, he transforms back into his beast mode and grabs Koda and Kirishima. He throws Kirishima into the air. Kaminari throws three disks at Jurota, but he easily jumps over them. Tsuyu tries to grab Jurota with her tongue, but he easily jumps over it. He jumps up on each pipe and rooftop until he reaches his home base. He places Koda in the cage with Kirishima.
"We already have two prisoners. That's a good start," said Hiryu.
Back on the other side of Ground Gamma, Tsuyu and Kaminari hide behind a wall.
"Class B is strong," said Tsuyu.
"What do we do now? We're losing," said Kaminari.
Tsuyu pulls her sleeve up. Fluid comes out of her arm.
"I have an idea," said Tsuyu.
"What is it?" asked Kaminari.
"I can secrete a poisonous fluid from my skin. I can make them see what I want them to see," said Tsuyu.
"That won't work. That Jurota guy has a good sense of smell," said Kaminari.
"My poisonous fluid can also mask their smell. I was lucky to get my fluid on them before they noticed," said Tsuyu.
"Will the poison be able to mask that beast's smell though?" asked Kaminari.
"No, but it should enhance it," said Tsuyu.
"What do you mean by that?" asked Kaminari.
"He won't just smell me, but he will also smell the two clones he sees," said Tsuyu.
"So, all I have to do is stay out of their line of sight," said Kaminari.
"That's right," said Tsuyu.
"Let's go," said Kaminari.
Kaminari and Tsuyu start to run towards Class B's home base.
"Let's take down Shishida first. His nose and ears are bad news," said Kaminari.
"I agree," said Tsuyu.
Two minutes pass. Tsuyu and Kaminari approach Class B's home base.
"I smell them," said Jurota.
"Who's going to face them first?" asked Kosei.
"I swear on my name, Vine, that the schemers will be judged. Via Dolorosa!" said Shiozaki.
Shiozaki's hair vines extend to great lengths all around Ground Gamma.
"What are their positions, o apocalypse beast?" asked Shiozaki.
"Ten and two o'clock and they're fanning out! They're on the ground and moving in fast!" exclaimed Jurota.
"Closing in? How is that? None of them have a quirk that allows them to search. Hey, Apocabeast, something's stuck to you. Isn't that Kaminari's device?" said Hiryu.
"I captured one. I shall bring them forth!" said Shiozaki.
"Get back! We don't know who's going to show up!" exclaimed Hiryu.
Shiozaki retracts her hair vine and reveals that she captured Kaminari.
"Ding! Ding! Ding! Let me tell you what you've won! You'll win a three-way zapping!" exclaimed Kaminari.
"Crucifixion: Faith's Shield!" exclaimed Shiozaki.
Before Kaminari can zap Class B, Shiozaki uses her hair vines to shield Kaminari, preventing him from shocking anyone. Tsuyu appears behind her and grabs her with her tongue. She smacks on the ground a couple times, knocking her out. Shiozaki's hair vines retract and Kaminari is freed.
"Where is she now! Stop pointing!" exclaimed Jurota.
"I don't know!" exclaimed Hiryu.
Tsuyu appears behind Hiryu and grabs him with her tongue. She throws him at the wall, knocking him out.
"Hiryu!" exclaimed Jurota.
"Don't forget about me! Discriminate Shock: 1.3 Million Volts!" exclaimed Kaminari.
Kaminari hops onto Jurota and shocks him until he falls unconscious.
"Where's that other guy?" asked Tsuyu.
Kaminari becomes derpy and just mumbles. Tsuyu turns around and sees Kosei standing behind a pole.
"Come on out. I can see you," said Tsuyu.
Kosei moves away from the pole.
"Um, I surrender," said Kosei.
Kosei puts his arms up. Five minutes pass until Class A reaches their home base. Tsuyu places the opposing team in the cage.
Vlad King's voice appears on the PA system. He disappointingly groans.
"The first match goes to Class 1-A!" exclaimed Vlad King.
